First Helen Mirren gave Stephen Colbert a kiss on the lips Tuesday that rendered him speechless, and that opened the door for Sally Field to practically make out with him on Wednesday.
Gidget what are you doing?! Sally looked like she really wanted to make the joke when she took the stage but had trouble working up the nerve. She chickened out with the handshake and then summoned her courage at the desk. Stephen played his part with all this beautifully, bless him.
Oscar and Emmy winner Sally is promoting her new movie called Hello My Name is Doris about a 60-year old woman (9 years younger than Sally’s actual age – progress!) who develops a crush on a much younger office worker played by Max Greenfield. The two seem game for just about anything. On Monday, they appeared on Ellen together. During a game of Heads Up, in which you have to act out the answer without speaking, the answer was “Make Out” so Sally jumped on Max’s lap and proceeded to make-out with him. They won the game, for what it’s worth. Sally and Max seem to have great chemistry in the film, I am looking forward to seeing it.
Why is Sally so fired up these days? Apparently, Sally is single but looking to date. The problem is, you have to come to her:
A hint to all Sally Field wannabe suitors: You’ll have to up your game.
“I’m open to [dating], but I’m such a hermit,” the Hello, My Name Is Doris star, 69, tells PEOPLE in this week’s issue. “Unless they came to the door selling Bibles …”
After divorcing her second husband, producer Alan Greisman, in 1993, Field never remarried – but hasn’t written off future romance.
“If I knew anyone I wanted to be with, I would hope I would have the gumption to bang on his door,” she says. “I just don’t know who that is.”
Sally says she is actually very satisfied in her current life but is open to dating if the right opportunity presents itself. When Ellen asked if she would be open to dating a younger man, Sally replied, “It depends on who that someone was. If he wants to step forward and say how bout me, I will judge the situation from that.”
If you find Sally charming as I do, you can read her answers to Vanity Fair’s Proust Questionnaire here. Sally and I have a few things in common like being scared of bumpy plane flights, wishing we could more patient… and having always wanted to kiss Stephen Colbert.

I don’t know what to think. Is this for real?
I love Sally; she’s my fave. Wish they’d cast her more often. She’s so pretty and talented. Total girl crush
It sounds like Sally had a better week then I had……
Hahahaha she’s had a better week than i’ve had too.. or weeks. Let’s just leave it there.
You like me, you really like me!
Make that two times ‘really’;-)
Siri: She won an Oscar decades ago and she was very emotional and cute and that is what she said: You really like me…..watch it on YouTube…sweet
@siri, yes hun she knows that, she was just trying to tell you that she said really twice in that speech 😉
Just had a look at the trailer, love it!
And she looks so good here.
I adore both of them so much. This was great.
She is so beautiful IMO. She has aged so well.
I love her. I still love to watch Steel Magnolias as my guilty pleasure and I think she’s so talented and funny and smart. Every interview I’ve ever seen or read with her has been interesting.
She’s made headlines more than once this week, so she’s working the press tour well.
