Jenny McCarthy was on “Chelsea Lately” on Monday night, and told some great stories. Those two have phenomenal chemistry together and were hysterical. First they talked about running into Paris Hilton at the Bravo awards recently. Chelsea Handler talks a lot of smack about Paris – even compared to us. And that’s saying something. She said “I’ve actually met Paris before, but she doesn’t know when she’s met someone before because she’s so stupid.” Which I’m sure is completely true. Jenny does a great flat Paris impression. Chelsea’s was a little off – a little too stereotypical valley girl. She doesn’t nail the flat affect and the dead eyes quite right.
They talked about this really awkward moment where Paris came up to Jenny to say hello, and then turned to see who was next to her. When she saw it was Chelsea, Jenny says a look of utter horror crossed her face. Then she mumbled something about “really liking her show,” and just stood there awkwardly. Chelsea kept saying how incredibly stupid Paris is, which isn’t that unique but was really funny because of the utter contempt with which she said it.
The best part of their interview was the revelation that Jenny’s infamous fall outside of a sushi restaurant last month was actually fake(ish). Chelsea said she’d called to see if Jenny wanted to go out to dinner, and she said she was already on her way out. Handler’s response was to bet her ten grand (to Jenny’s autism charity) if she’d take a fall in front of the paparazzi outside – assuming Jenny wouldn’t do it. She did – and really committed to it. She said something about knowing she’d have to really go for it (“you’re not that good an actress” Chelsea quipped) to make it believable. And also mentioned that it would have had to have been a lot more money if she had been wearing a skirt.
Jenny also talked briefly about her autism work and mentioned that she’s not going to write anymore books about it – but she’s not going to shut up about it either. She used to drive me nuts, but the more I read about Jenny and the more interviews I see with her, the more I love her. She’s smart, feisty, always funny – and never above embarrassing herself for a laugh or a good cause.
Here’s Jenny at the Bravo Awards on April 5th. Images thanks to PR Photos.com; and her fall on April 3. Image thanks to Fame Pictures .
Love it
I saw the video of that fall and it didn’t look fake. Who would want to fake a fall going down the steps? Ouch. Fake or not – good for her.
Chelsea’s (been upping her game) Lately.
JayBird I agree with everything you said.
Jenny is the perfect woman. Incredibly talented and smart, but doesn’t take herself too seriously.
Not to mention the important work she has been doing.
I just love her.
I’d love to agree that her autism charity is a good cause, and certainly it does a lot of great support work for families affected by autism.
Sadly, it also makes a lot of entirely spurious claims about vaccinations; the current number of preventable deaths in America stands at 160, and there is still absolutely no evidence that vaccinations cause autism.
I’ll listen to Jenny when I want to hear weight-loss tips or how to snag a Playboy shoot. Autism, not so much. I’m not discounting a naturalistic approach by any means, but her claims simply don’t make sense and have no empirical backing, whatsoever.
I love Jenny she is so down to earth and funny. She’s also a good mom.
The thing that i like so much about Jenny is that she doesn’t claim to be an expert on Autism, she is trying her best, along with hundreds of thousands of other parents – including Doctors around the world,to raise awareness about the dangers of vaccines.
She’s not however, nor am i, anti-vaccine.
It (Autism) is an incredibly complex issue that affects 1 in 86 children in America alone.
The is NO myth of the damage Mercury causes to the Brian. The Studies where conducted decades ago which led to further human experimentation by the NAZIS.
“Empiricaly backed” so-called ‘studies’ that CLAIM there is NO evidence of mercury poisoning (autism or other wise) is what is called in the scientific community – PR studies. The studies conducted for PR purposes ONLY.
Not that i’m an expert or anything 🙂

I did ask my dentist about mercury and he said they are safe and that there is no scientific evidence to back this up? You don’t know who to believe?
Mercury and Brians just don’t mix.
Mercury and Brians don’t mix? How about Mercury and Jims? Or Bobs?
a ha ha ha-i crack myself up.
good typo!
but seriously….um,yea, dentists of course d ont know of any ‘evidence’,and say mercury is safe, despite it being a highly toxic substance in even the smallest amounts. Dentists are coming fromt heir own training/education and frame of reference. We need to stop worshipping doctors as ‘experts’,and see them as trained technicians in their field.Trained based on the current dominant scientific beliefs of the day-which are usually well behind where ACTUAL scientific research is today. It takes decades for ‘institutions’-ie,medical and educational institutions-there’s a reason why they are called institutions-to change and integrate current research.
C’mon,ppl-even my dad-completely traditional in his healthcare and most beliefs-agreed that there is something to the aluminum in deoderant, cooking pans, etc. related to rise of alzheimers, parkinson’s,etc.
If even he is onto that, surely we can all agree that, same as aluminum, mercury is no bueno for the body.
Ur so right “cara” Chelsea must have a new stylist or something. Her clothes and shoes have been really awesome lately.
Good one Coddy Baby.
Jenny doesnt claim to be an expert on Autism? Have you watched any of her interviews on Larry King?
During one of those interviews she told the Doctor she didn’t care about his medical trials, or facts. She had enough first hand experience to know better than him. Ive never really taken her seriously.
Mercury poisoning IS dangerous to the human brain. I didn’t watch the link, because I’m at work, but if someone mentioned mercury as a possible cause of autism, it should be taken seriously.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mad_hatter_disease
Mercury poisoning used to be called “Mad Hatter’s Disease” in old England, where various lower-class workers in sweatshops used liquid mercury on hatbands to make them soft. The mercury was absorbed into their skin and collected via the bloodstream into the central nervous system, where it interfered with the brain’s signals to the muscles. The victim suffers from uncontrollable spasms that makes them look and act crazy.
It would not surprise me at all if there were a link between mercury poisoning and autism. I hope Ms. McCarthy takes that into consideration.
funny comments!
I love these two (aside from the soft researched medical opinions). Gotta love a pretty woman that goes out on a limb for comedy. Lucille Ball would be proud.
“Doh!” bloody typo’s 🙁
Anyway, @Vibius, no i didn’t see her on Larry King live, i did see her on Oprah and she came across as just another Mom trying to help her child.
Albeit a Mom who lives in Malibu and dates a movie star but you know what i mean;-)
The thing is that these Doctors don’t see or at least say there’s no evidence to back these parents up, as far as Jenny and other parents are concerned their evidence is right in front of them (their kids), i think thats the point she was making.
ok like detox yourself or something okay, and don’t worry about the silicone implants, tanning beds and peroxide
Did anyone read Chelseas book “My Horizontal Life?” it was hysterical i lol’d the whole way through!
this is so gay. but would anyone know who made jenny mccarthys shirt for her chelsea handler apperance. (black with zippers on the sleeves) its kind of fabulous.
Does anybody know where can i find the shirt she was wearing on the show ???I loved it !!!!!!!!
