We’re going to be seeing more of Charlize Theron, Emily Blunt and Jessica Chastain over the next few weeks, because they are promoting The Huntsman: Winter’s War, the follow-up to Snow White & the Huntsman, also known as the film where Kristen Stewart ended up banging her married director. Rupert Sanders didn’t direct the sequel, but Charlize and Chris Hemsworth have returned. Actually, I guess this is a prequel? It does take place chronologically before the events of SWATH. Anyway, that’s my explanation for why Jessica Chastain covers the newest issues of Flaunt and Porter Magazine. In Porter, she poses with a baby kangaroo. In Flaunt, she covers her face with lace. Here are some highlights from Porter:
On gender equality: “When you have both genders represented, then you have a healthier point of view. You don’t feel a hierarchy; you don’t have anyone feeling like they are being left out or bullied or humiliated. Sometimes, being the only girl on a set, you can feel like a sexual object.”
She doesn’t want to lose her privacy: “I’ve never dated anyone famous. I had time before this happened to really watch the industry. I want to be able to have my family and have this normalcy and go see a play and not have the audience watching me watch the play.”
She never had The Bridal Dream: “I never dreamed what my wedding dress would look like… but I always dreamed about my Oscars dress.”
First, are we buying that Jessica Chastain has never dated a famous person? I think she’s telling the truth in that she hasn’t openly had a famous boyfriend, but I don’t believe that she’s never had any kind of sexual/romantic relations with a famous person. Even if you don’t believe that Jessica might have fooled around with Tom Hiddleston, I’ve always thought she had something with Tom Hardy when they filmed Lawless. That’s just a theory/rumor, I have no idea if it’s true.
As for not dreaming about the white dress… I feel her. I do like looking at wedding gowns, but it’s the same feeling I get when I’m looking at Oscar gowns: it’s just dress p0rn. But I have to say… if she dreamt all her life about what her Oscar gowns would look like, why is she usually such a disaster at the big events?

That cute little joey wins the cover, IMO.
Adorable.
I get married in three weeks and I am not going to wear a wedding gown. More like an Oscar gown, lol.
I hope you have the most beautiful day. Congrats! I’m curious – what’s the color of the dress if you don’t mind me asking? Hope everything goes off without a hitch.
Thank you very much for the nice thoughts Tash! My dress is peacock blue.
Nice color! 🙂
Congrats!
I, too, chose a non-traditional colored dress for my wedding. I had a lot of fun picking it out. Definitely did a fake Oscar speech once or twice while trying on dresses.
There is doesn’t seem anything of note in the interview.
So pointless.
..or that Snow white Prequel for that matter… it looks embarrassing
She’s a great actress, but very uninteresting. Which is a good combo, I think. Since she’s no personality herself, you buy her in more roles.
Actually – this movie is after Snow White one and not a prequel.
In the trailer, After being brought back to life by her sister, Charlize actually says: so we met again Huntsman.
I am actually excited for this one – 3 beautiful and strong women who are going to play 3 strong characters.
And for once the man is going to be the arm candy..
The trailer confuses me– why does it look so much like the perfume commercial that Charlize did, with the floaty gold things. Is that a ccincedence?
That picture of her in the blue dress with the white collar feeding the kangaroo (I guess it’s a kangaroo) is so bizarre. Poor thing is just trying to eat and she’s all Lea Michelle pose hard on top of it. Weird.
She always poses SO. VERY. HARD.
I still don’t get the Chastain thing. I just don’t see what the hype around her is about.
Watch her in The Help. It’s what did it for me. Her character could have gone so wrong but she was so lovely in the movie. Plus she’s a great actress in general and very versatile.
Yeah, the contrast between her POSING and the uncomfortable kangaroo made me laugh. I don’t really get the Chastain thing either…. I guess she’s talented? Maybe I should see more of her stuff, because I haven’t been blown away by any of her work thus far (except for The Help, she was great in that). Her face (or nose) looks very manufactured to me and is distracting. Sometimes I think she is pretty and other times handsome… all in all, I don’t know how I feel about her, I guess.
I think the dress on the cover may be the Cate Blanchett indie spirit peacock dress. They share a stylist. Actually it may just be from the same collection.
I never dreamed about my gown or wedding. Never. I don’t usually like wedding dresses and I’ve never loved being in weddings or going to them much. There was a period where all my friends and cousins seemed to get married within a short time period and I had a closet full of bridesmaid dresses or wedding attendee dresses. One friend had a ridiculous registry that had only very expensive items on it and I resented buying someone I was not close to, anything on that list. Not only that but we had to fly to another country for it.
I was more excited about my honeymoon and the adventure planned.
I only had a wedding as an excuse to get my scattered family together in one place. My siblings live all over the country and overseas, we do see each other, just never all of us under one roof.
Never again. If I do it will be very different from the first.
I remember that phase where everyone under the sun is getting married and you’re a bridesmaid four times a year and you totally can’t afford it. Ugh. I’ve always loved weddings, but that was tough financially. You will go through a mini version again when the children of your friends and siblings get married, but thats mercifully more spread
out.
My second wedding was small and initiate and beautiful. I loved it so much.
I didn’t really dream about one either. I love the dresses, some of the new style ones I really like (my daughter is getting married, so a lot of dress looking). I was a lucky one, all of my friends and I eloped. Every single one. Odds? Who knows but it made me a happy girl. No closet full of bridesmaids dresses here.
My daughter is going thru that right now. This month will be her 6th bridesmaid stint in less than a year, and we have a load of dresses we should probably sell online or something. The current dress for the upcoming wedding is an ugly pink Monique Lhuillier monstrosity that cost a ridiculous amount of money. The whole experience has really humbled my daughter, who now has resolved that should she get married someday, she wants a simple, laid back outdoorsy wedding with no fuss.
I never understood making bridesmaids pay a fortune for a dress. I know it’s supposed to be all about what the brides want, but have some respect for your friends. One of the girls who use to work for me ended up spending over $2,000 for the honour of being the maid-of-honour at her friend’s wedding last summer. This poor girl is planning and paying for her own wedding this summer and didn’t need that expense on top of everything else.
I wish your daughter luck selling all of her dresses!
If I do it again that is what I want. Small and intimate. I’m glad you had a lovely wedding I recall your statements about your first husband and you definitely deserved something nice the second time.
I just had a maid of honor, and she got to chose her own dress. We had a lot of fun shopping.
I’m always surprised when I read about bridesmaids paying for their own dress, especially when it’s expensive and/or something they don’t like. It seems rude to me. You asked, you pay. Or at the very least, if you expect them to pay they should pick the dress so it’s something they can wear again.
Same. Growing up I never thought about weddings, except to vaguely speculate as to whether I would find someone worth marrying or not. Even planning my own wedding I was so over it and all the ridiculous BS that goes along with it. We only had one so we could gather the family and essentially make them come visit us, and to please my parents, who generously helped us pay for it. We ended up with a very simple, casual event that was a lot of fun and reasonably priced. On everything we wanted to include we asked ourselves “is this the easiest way to do this?” and if it wasn’t, we changed plans.
Maybe her Oscar gown dreams were nightmares. Zing! Actually, aside from 2012, I haven’t hated her Oscar dresses.
If I had it to do over again, I might have worn a different bridal gown, maybe something in a color. I kind of got bullied into most of the choices for my wedding, especially the bridesmaid dresses.
I was so blown away by how many Opinions everyone had. And especially how they’d always follow up their Opinion with “but of course it’s your wedding so you can do what you want *side eye*”. It was irrationally demoralizing for me. Every time I’d get excited about something there’d be “you’re doing that? ……..okay………it’s your wedding I guess…….” It shouldn’t have mattered but it did.
I eloped and no one saw mine until the pictures were send out. We had a winter wedding so it was hunter green velvet. There were a lot of comments on that. Still don’t care but the one that stuck out was the “well, it’s not white, so at least THAT’S appropriate” comment that came from a close family member on the hubby’s side. Nice……
Oh how I know what you mean. I gave in many times just to left alone. I was suffocating under so much “support”. Or the silent moment after I made a request and then, “Well it’s your big day so I’ll just keep my opinions to myself”.
I just came here for the kangaroo
.
Why do I feel bad for the kangaroo having to be at a photo shoot?
Having never been married, but been dragged to many a wedding (some ended a very short time later and I really resented forking out mucho $$$ for a gift) I’ve also never imagined myself walking down the aisle in a poofy white dress. I think they should throw showers for people who have never married – I scrimped and saved for all my household stuff, I didn’t have it given to me as shower/wedding presents. We singletons deserve it too you know!
+1
I usually find her off putting or something in interviews but I liked this one a lot. I buy she hasn’t dated anyone famous, I would also believe she hasn’t had a fling. She seems to geniunly want to have a career as an actress not a star so why get messed up with all that mess.
I will be honest I thought based on the headline this was going to be one of those judgy I’m better because I didn’t dream of a wedding dress thing- but it wasn’t I loved what she said she wasn’t slamming little girls for loving frilly dresses and dreaming of a special day to wear one she just said hers was a different day.
Oh God, it took me FOREVER to find my wedding dress for the same reason. I ended up settling on something incredibly flattering but not what I had in mind. My dad was paying for the dress and offered to go all the way up to $3,000 but I just couldn’t find anything, and ended up with a dress that fit like a glove and was $600.
That little kangaroo looks so uncomfortable and lost. Why are they dragging this poor thing into a photo shooting?? Give it back to his mummy!
Oh my just realised this poor thing may be an orphan… Otherwise why feed it with a bottle. Now i’m mad that they hand this baby animal to a stranger just for a few pictures. I bet he usually has only contact with his caregivers and now a complete stranger almost strangles him to death
Just wanted to say I really love the fact that there is a group of consistently awesome actresses, all of whom happen to have red hair (Jessica, Amy Adams, Julianne Moore, Emma Stone, Susan Sarandon). There’s really no reason why I love this so much, but I do!!
Cute! Is that why your name is Lucy?
I just love her!!
She’s my favourite actress – chooses great roles and interesting films; amazing, classic beauty; mostly likeable in interviews; and takes her profession seriously and is not a famewhore for its own sake.
It’s true what actors say about children and animals stealing the show. All I want to do is look at the adorable joey – Jessica looks hard and POSED next to its softness. Very weird photo shoot altogether I think. Oh, but I do like the ‘FLAUNT’ photo a lot.
These pics are gorgeous! I love the lil roo, and it looks like Jessica does too.
