A few weeks back, Leslie Jones went public with the clothing issue she was having. It seems that despite starring in one of the most anticipated movies of the summer, Leslie Jones could not find any designer willing to dress her. As in, no designer wanted to let her borrow a dress, no designer wanted to make a dress for her in her size, and no designer wanted to be associated with a six-foot-tall African-American woman who is (at most) a size 10. When Leslie tweeted about her issue, it became major news and just part of the larger conversation we have about sizeism and racism in the fashion industry. Some stylists and fashion professionals tried to slam Leslie too, but they sounded full of sh-t.
Thankfully, one designer stepped up to make a custom dress for Leslie: designer Christian Siriano. And Leslie wore the custom gown at Saturday night’s premiere of Ghostbusters in LA. She looks fantastic, doesn’t she? Siriano has been criticized for putting curvy or big women in dresses that are too flouncy, ruffled and twee, but I feel like he was really trying to make something classic and beautiful for Leslie and it worked. She looked stunning.
Leslie also told E! News that she was pleased with her gown and pleased that Siriano made it for her. She told E!: “It takes a real designer to design for real women. That’s what I was saying. I’ll always say that.” While I know people will take issue with the “real women” thing, I think her fundamental point is that real designers SHOULD design clothes for more than one kind of body type.
I’m also including photos of the other ladies from the premiere. Kristen Wiig’s dress is allegedly Jenny Packham, and there’s some gossip that Melissa McCarthy designed her bright yellow dress. I don’t have the ID on Kate McKinnon’s dress either. All of the ladies look nice but I do think Leslie pops the most in her red gown.

Nailed it! Gorgeous. LOVE Melissa’s dress. So timeless and fun.
Melissa’s dress is everything!! I actually gasped when I saw her. Gorgeous everything…hair, shoes, but THAT DRESS!!!! It Love it!!! COVET!!!!!!!
Everyone looked great!
She looks so gorgeous. It just goes to show how important tailoring is. That dress falls so perfectly on her body and the color is so flattering on her.
They really did. It’s easy to make a gown that looks great on a dress form. Making a gown that looks great on someone who isn’t a model takes more skill, and Christian knocked it out of the park here. As did the other designers. All the ladies look amazing!
yeah, my reaction was “whoa, momma!” she looks great. all of them do.
Totally agree. Melissa looks fantastic! That colour really suits her.
I love that color. It is just so joyful!
If Melissa McCarthy did design her own dress, it’s the best thing she’s ever put herself in. Beautiful, and flattering.
I was nervous when I read “yellow”. But it’s really cute and fun and now I would like one for myself.
Really? I hate it
Thank you.
Leslie and Melissa look fantastic. Love Leslie’s accessories choice and love the detailing of Melissa’s dress.
Slayed.
Yes ^^^
After the stories a few weeks ago about Jones having trouble finding a designer, it pleases me greatly to see how great she looks.
Glad she was able to find someone. She looks stunning.
@Felice, who wrote: “Glad she was able to find someone. She looks stunning.”
Yes she does! 🙂
The dress and the jewels work together beautifully, she looks gorgeous.
Christian stuck his foot in it! What an amazing dress and fit! Glad she got what she wanted.
He’s grown up a lot; I remember on the show when he would whine if he got anyone who wasn’t a size 2!!!
Agreed — She looks gorgeous!! A great look for her.
Yay! I was hoping you would post about this. She looks FABULOUS & you can tell that SHE feels beautiful and confident in the dress 🙂 I love it!!
I love it too. I think she looks very regal and gorgeous.
She does look amazing. That color just sings on her. Melissa’s would be my second favorite, it gives me a very Mad Men vibe.
Yes! fabulous!
I hate that kind of shoulders/sleeves and the necklace is ugly. But she looks so happy and confident in it so she looks great. Why didn’t her stylist approach Siriano in the first place?
Kate and Kristen look nice.
Melissa, why?
I hate the necklace. Too big and tacky.
Melissa looks like she’s gooing to her first communion.
Sirano just got married this weekend! Maybe that’s a reason why she the people she was having contact designers for her initially avoided him. That’s quite the conflict! Otherwise, it seems like he would have been a natural choice from the get-go! He regularly dresses a variety of body frames and seems to love doing it.
That’s what I thought too? Didn’t he marry Brad from it’s a ‘Brad, Brad World?’? I was looking for that in the article and thought I must have mistaken him for someone else.
Congrats to him for having such press over a great gown & getting married on the same weekend!
Wow, that makes him all the more wonderful, IMO. I can’t imagine doing a last minute project at the same time that you are doing last minute wedding prep. I bet his Project Runway experience might have come in handy for that!
I don’t like the neckline, either, but the color is STUNNING on her, and the dress fits her beautifully. Overall, a good look.
I hate the necklace as well. Its way too formal. But Leslie looks great and so do the other gals. Melissa sort of looks like a lemon but I sort of like her dress too.
They all look nice, ever Kristen Wiig, SURPRISE…cause she ususally has terrible taste in clothes…but I do think Leslie looked the best! The style and color of the dress, really suit her….
Ha, it’s good to see Kristin wearing a dress that isn’t beige — she looks good here. And Leslie looks great. Glad Christian Siriano stepped up and made this for her, and did it so well.
She looked gorgeous!!! They all did!
I would have chosen another colour (I bet she would look gorgeous in a teal or a light blue) but that necklace combined with that neckline is to die for!
Oooooh, now I’m imagining it in rich bright teal. I hope she wears teal sometime during this publicity tour.
Ok I loved the dress before but now imagining it in a teal or maybe a brighter blue shade *sigh*
Siriano made a great dress in such a quick turnaround so kudos. Seemed like he was pleased (he retweeted photos of her) and she looked confident on the carpet.
Side note: my heart warmed seeing all the little girls on the carpet in Ghostbusters uniforms. Representation matters
“my heart warmed seeing all the little girls on the carpet in Ghostbusters uniforms. Representation matters.”
Wow, that made me tear up.
I’m wondering if she didn’t go for blue because Kate McKinnon already had her blue dress picked out. Stylists usually coordinate at events like this so no one looks too much like the other.
YASS! He didn’t mess up! Take that fashion industry! I like Melissa’s dress as well. Apparently she gets slammed for her designs, but this one is pretty.
Is the movie supposed to be any good?
Leslie slayed in her dress. She looks great in red.
My son is big into movies and he said that it isn’t getting good reviews. Of course that doesn’t mean anything. It looks like it could be good.
This morning it’s at 79% on Rotten Tomatoes with the consensus being that the cast is fabulous and the movie is solid, if not quite as classic-in-the-making as the original.
And I love Melissa’s dress — I’m always a sucker for a 50s party dress — and it looks great on her.
At 79%? Thats pretty good considering the fact that the sad basement dwelling men of the internet had pledged to flood RT with negative reviews and destroy this monster called “all female casting” before it infects more movies.
Awesome! Definitely going to go see it with my friends now.
Misogynists are soon sad. Like do something productive with your life you only have one. (Although with all the negative vibes they give themselves they’re probably shortening it as we speak.)
Considering some mantrolls have made it their mission to kill this movie, I think that rating is actually surprisingly good.
Me, my girls and their men are all going to see it this weekend.
A UK reviewer here gave it a thumbs up, too.
+10000
(We’ll have to wait to see about the movie.)
I hope! My fiancé said he read Kristen Wiig watched an early screening and FREAKED about the acting/editing/directing. She was extremely unhappy. That was earlier- months ago. This movie is important to us because we were both children in the 80s!
I don’t see how you can go wrong with this cast (I’m obsessed with Leslie and Melissa) but as an actor, you are always at the mercy of the director and production.
As a child of the 80s, I’m dying to see it. She looks gorgeous. I love the neckline with the necklace and ‘Ghostbusters’ red of the dress. They all look beautiful but I just love Kristen Wiig so much.
Hitflix which I really like for reviews gave it an A- rating and a really good review.
She looks sexy.. That attitude is everything.
LOVE Wiig’s dress and that color on Leslie is the best, she looks awesome. Not too excited about the design itself simply because it’s a little snoozy but that color. Not everyone can pull it off.
Let the “real women” outrage begin.
It is the perfect red for her, isn’t it?
The design is kind of snoozy, but also classic, and I like to think that was part of the point. She looks great, it’s obvious she has a great figure…so why, again, couldn’t other designers help her out?
Because they aren’t there to ‘help celebrities out’. They give dresses to the celebrities they think will get them sales by wearing their dresses. It’s not an act of kindness, it’s a very precise type of advertising.
Think of it like buying a billboard. Let’s say you can only buy 10 that month before you’re budget’s blown, and there’s 10 high profile billboards in thriving areas available, areas that have a proven track record of showing results. There’s also a billboard available in a growing, but still little known area. Would you buy the up and comer instead of a 10th sure thing?
Pepper, let’s not pretend that this type of advertising isn’t problematic though. Because the “billboards” that show results – in this case people – all look the same and have to fit the designers’ notion of who should wear their dresses. You don’t think they could sell more if more celebs like Leslie wore their clothes??? I’m not looking at a skinny woman thinking “Oh I would look good in that, let me look at that designer.” Come on. That’s not it. They simply don’t want the non-skinny, non-white ones. There, I said it. So it’s not just sales, it’s image too. And that is what most people take issue with.
You know what got lost in all the hub-bub? Why didn’t her team reach out to Christian S first? He has a pretty good track record for red carpet gowns. I thought it was pretty gracious of him to say “sure” when it was pretty clear he was NEVER on their radar to start with. And he delivered. Hope this gets him on “first call” status, or whatever the yard stick is! Gown is just the silhouette she needed-and fit is great.
These women want to be dressed by Tom Ford/ Valentino/Chanel/Dior/Armani…..a designer of that calibre. They never look at the lower tier designers or think it’s demeaning to look at the lower tiers. Yet, often the lower tiers do deliver as well as the top tiers.
It’s a lesson they never seem to learn.
Btw, i can understand dreaming of a bespoke Dior gown, but if they say no or don’t fit, what are you going to tier.
When she tweeted her outrage at not finding a designer and making it read as if ALL the designers gad turned her down, Christian piped up and tweeted that he had never been approached.
Right there, you knew what type of designer she wanted.
Where does Christian fit? Prada and Dior are top tier, is he second tier or lower?
Sirano is lower but he’s on the cusp of second tier.
I consider Christian right up there with the others. There are many “top tier” designers who don’t seem to be able to design anything pretty these days, imo.
@Jag, Ithink it’s more about name recognition and prestige rather than the actuall designs.
That’s a huge assumption to make. We don’t know who Leslie approached. For all we know, it could have been Monique Lhullier, or Michael Kors, or Calvin Klein, or any number of folk.
It’s not a huge assumption. All these actresses want the top tier. Rarely the lower tiers.
Calvin Klein, Michael Kors or Monica whatshername are fantastic designers, but they are not top tier. They are incomparable to Dior or Chanel.
They are above Christian for sure, but they are not top tier.
And the most popular stylists in hollywood and or those that work for the studios (sometimes one and the same), often work with top tier and rarely anything below unless it’s vintage. That’s why you end up with the same designers on the RC repeatedly.
just like with actors, there’s a pretty strong divide between Movie and TV. Many of the Daytime Emmy dress designers you will not see on the Oscar red carpet (unless a movie actor goes to the emmy’s) for example. The only exemption is Marchesa, which is lifted from tv to movie level by a power-marriage with the most powerful/succesful movie producer on the Oscar circuit.
Siriano usually dresses tv personalities (heidi klum for instance). So I doubt a movie actor (or probably mostly her team) would look for him in the rolodex first.
I don’t agree with this snobbery, but it’s how they work.
Again, that’s a HUGE assumption. Jones works with a stylist, and it’s a stylist’s job to know where to look and who to contact. There is a ridiculously large range of designers until you get to Dior and Chanel, many of whom would have been a great fit (for example, the 3 that I listed above, though apparently you don’t even have a clue who Monique Lhuillier is). Personally, I think Jones had already contacted Siriano and their Twitter interaction wasn’t the first.
Love it but it’s totally Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman going to the opera.
It is! I couldn’t figure out where I had seen this before. This is just like Julia Robert’s dress in pretty woman before Richard Gere’s character shows her the necklace he loaned and they’re going to the opera. I love that movie.
I dislike both actors, so I’ve never watched Pretty Woman.
Remember the mom from the child beauty pageant show who dressed her daughter as a Julia Roberts hooker from that movie?
@ Lady D:
“I’ve never watched Pretty Woman.
Remember the mom from the child beauty pageant show who dressed her daughter as a Julia Roberts hooker from that movie?”
How would you remember the outfit worn in that particular scene if you claimed to have never seen this film?
Your opinion is invalid. Better luck with your lie tellings… the next time.
EXACTLY!
Well, that was the quintessential Cinderella movie moment . I would guess the scene was the inspiration behind the dress.
Good point! Maybe it was totally on purpose! I love the Cinderella idea.
There is a myth that the big designers will give clothes to anyone simply because they are thin, white and blonde, but a lot of it is status. Siriano is definitely a good entry-level designer for the up-and-coming star. Remember, Hayden Panettiere was nominated for a Golden Globe and had to buy a Tom Ford dress. That probably had more to do with her being a TV star than anything else.
Alternatively…Kate Bosworth. What has she done in the past decade (or ever, really)? Yet she’s still sitting front row at fashion shows and has no problems getting clothes.
She looks gorgeous. They all do actually. But I think she’s bigger than a size 10. No one wants to fess up to the dreaded plus 12 lol.
In the case of women like Kate Bosworth and Blake Lively, they are still skating by on their approval by Anna Wintour. That means a lot. Granted, Blake has more going on these days than Kate.
You may not know it but Bosworth is a fashion it-girl for many years now. It doesn’t matter if she has movies coming out. She sits front row everywhere and is a designer favourite simply because she gets big coverage in fashion Blogs. That’s why she get’s designer stuff everywhere. Her “acting career” is long over and has nothing to do with it.
Yeah, people like Kate Bosworth or Alexa Chung get a lot of coverage on fashion blogs, while someone like Hayden doesn’t.
@Ollie on why Kate Bosworth fashion It Girl status:
“She sits front row everywhere and is a designer favourite simply because she gets big coverage in fashion Blogs.”
Oh, really? Cos, in my world… or in the world of reality… Kate B is like, who?
Aside from Blue Crush, she has never entered my radar in anything. Never been a great or interesting actor. And her so-called career proves that. She’s just some person with an obvious eating disorder.
Talie, if you look at the “actresses” who show up to the opening of an envelope, many of them will be dressed in high-end designers constantly. No, not every skinny blonde gets a Dior dress but you know who wears the MOST high-end designers all the time? Yeah. Like Samtha said, Kate Bosworth. Camilla Belle seems to have no issue getting dressed by designers for anything either. I’m just saying. This was the premiere of a summer blockbuster. And I think Hayden simply wanted to wear TF. She probably would’ve had no problem getting other designers to dress her but TF makes a big deal out of being super exclusive.
There is a difference between actresses and brand ambassadors like Alexa Chung or Poppy Delevingne whom designers choose to rep their clothes. I would suspect most designers would rather just outfit these girls than actresses since they tend to look more like models to them.
It may also have to do with her height. While Leslie is too tall Hayden may be considered too short. She’s very tiny and that doesn’t always show to advantage or, to paraphrase that stylist from an earlier Leslie story, the sample styles available.
Oh wow, they all killed it last night. My favorite actor (Kate) is in my least favorite dress, but she still looks great.
Note to designers: Melissa and Leslie look amazing. Kristen has the most “Hollywood” body of the bunch, and this is much better than her usual red carpet fashion… but we’ve seen so many thin women in sleeveless dresses, and we don’t often get to see tall, beautiful black women — or shorter, bigger white women — in vibrant colors that flatter their curves. These pictures are so much more visually compelling (in a pure aesthetic sense) than the runways and most red carpets.
If I were a designer, I’d seek out women like Leslie. The fashion industry loves to claim that pin-thin bodies are just the easiest/most practical… but damn, shouldn’t THEY of all people understand that different colors and shapes and sizes make for more interesting visuals, more dynamic and exciting pieces, more potential for new designs and ideas? Are they artists or not?!
I completely agree with your assessment. Kristen, bless her heart, looks bland and generic. Even though she got styled, it falls flat. Leslie and Melissa on the other hand, just grab your attention. I may not like Melissa’s dress (bridesmaid) but damn if she and Leslie don’t bring a jolt of electricity to these images.
kristen wiig man, her stylist must hate her. i’m so tired to see her consistently badly dressed. she is so pretty and i have serious leg-envy, she could do so much better. hire another stylist, kristen! you can do it!
Maybe she likes the fug clothes she wears?
She looks beautiful and that necklace is amazing. But I really really dislike the “real women” thing, I just don’t understand why we always have put someone down to lift someone else up. I know that’s not what she meant at all, and I get what she’s trying to say. I’m just so tired of hearing the “real women” comment, we’re all real.
I think when they say real women it applies to the general population, not all of are over 5’9 and wear 0-2 sizes which are generally what designers use as standard
I know what they mean, but the 5’9 size 0-2 model is still just as real as the “average” woman.
I wear a size 2 and I’m very tired that because of my size I am somehow not “real woman”.
I understand this point totally, and I have known women who struggled to gain weight the way so many struggle to lose it. No one should be shamed for their body. But as someone who has yo-yo’ed weight all my life, and has shopped on the plus-side and the “normal” side, I can tell you that when you’re larger, you are not made to feel real. You aren’t “seen.” Nothing is calibrated for you, to acknowledge you or celebrate you. Shopping can be a really humiliating experience, as many clerks simply aren’t kind, or you hear people giggling at you in the dressing rooms when you’re trying on strappy summer dresses with rolls visible over and under fabric. You try so hard to build yourself up and have confidence and like who you are, but the entire world is telling you that you’re bad, wrong, ugly, not good enough. The “real woman” thing to me has always been a proclamation that I, as a woman who “runs heavy,” exist, I am worthy, and there’s nothing wrong with me just because I’m not thin. It’s not really about you (as in, you the size-conforming “normal” public), it’s about me declaring womanhood.
Exactly. I know exactly what you mean. You explained it wonderfully.
You know that saying, “I’ve been rich and I’ve been poor and rich is better”? Well, I ‘ve been skinny and I’ve been fat, and skinny is much better, in terms of how society treats you. Much much better.
Thank you both for being realistic, I don’t like the idea of putting women down for their size but let’s be real about which size is more accepted and able to find clothes/celebrated and which size isn’t.
There’s always an excuse for why some mediocre hasn’t starred in a movie in 6 years popsicle is able to wear the newest and hottest fashion and the bigger girl is s.o.o.l.
While, I do think it could have been worded better, it also applies especially when thinking about her industry. In the fashion and entertainment industry, many women aren’t sizes 0-2 naturally and often go to extreme lengths to get to that size. That’s not “real.” That being said, a better choice of words would have been “know how to design for all women.”
ETA: Totally second @Algernon, above.
How about “regular person” or “regular woman.”
Someone who is not of the elite.
The industry should make clothing to flatter regular people.
And we all know regular people do not look like Kate Bosworth.
There will always be clothes to fit Kate Bosworth and tiny girls who fit her siz.
It is not body shaming to advocate for regular, average people.
Considering the runway models they usually design for are usually closer to six feet and, as most are still in their teenaged 00 bodies, there is a degree of unreality to them, at least as far as grown women go.
Leslie was STUNNING. C. Siriano actually tweeted “pretty woman” so he acknowledges the reference.
I think Melissa’s dress is very pretty but not quite the right look for this occasion and may be better in a different color.
The dress is as basic as they get and the shape obliterates her fabulous body. I’m disappointed as Siriano usually knocks it out of the park for us big girls.
There’s not much too it, but that may be Leslie’s formal style. Also, their tweet exchange was not too long ago. How much detail can one get into a custom dress in such a short time?
He did it *right* before his wedding, too!
Kate McKinnon is gorgeous in that lovely blue dress. I want it.
That’s what I was thinking too, @Melody!
I couldn’t do anything creative except curse at people that close to my wedding. The man is a saint.
Same here. He is cool under pressure. I would be a mess!
She looks gorgeous. Dress is beautiful and love the red on her. Best dress out of all of them, I only, and she looks radiant.
Yay Leslie AND CS (who, btw, got married this weekend)!!! All the ladies look great, and I can’t wait to see the movie! Also, I don’t watch SNL but I was feeling down the other day and I found the amazing gem that is Leslie flirting with Colin Jost during their Weekend Update segment. Immediate cheering up!!!
Google Leslie and Seth Meyers watching GOT. Funny!!
Already saw it! Twice 🙂 I was dying at her telling Seth to wait for the horses to run over Jon!
Oh my God, thank you SusanneT for the recommendation….i LOL’ed for real.Leslie is hilaaaaarioussss!!!!!!!!!!
I love Leslie. She’s hilarious on SNL. I would say that Kate McKinnon is the most talented current SNL cast member. Vanessa Bayer is great too. Sasheer and Rudnitsky have been the biggest dissapointments.
Love all those women. I watch SNL on a hit and miss schedule but I saw the Ryan gosling one. During the alien abduction skit, KM was hilarious (and supposedly ab-libbing some too) and gosling couldn’t keep a straight face. I couldn’t blame him, because I was dying.
Google her Naked and Afraid SNL skit with Peter Dinklage. It is so freaking funny.
The diamonds and the color make the look, and I always love off-the shoulder look personally. But the make-up is no good and I do not think the dress itself is that special even of she looks good.
It’s stunning. The seeming simplicity of the gown emphasizes how beautiful she is. And then you start noticing some of the smaller details, like the train, and realize the gown is more than it first seems! I bet it was amazing in person.
Love Melissa’s whole look. Kate McKinnon is so cute, but that dress is terrible. Kristin…no matter what she wears, she always looks casual, like she just rolled out of bed and put on the first dress she found.
I’m sorry but you can find this dress on every red carpet since even before Pretty Woman.
Sirano just made the typical red dress like many before. He likely has a closet full of these dresses for last minute deals. No big effort. No own design. Nothing groundbreaking just the same old red dress Leslie could have bought everywhere else.
I agree but she still looks fabulous. It’s sad that no one else wanted to dress her.
I want her to name the designers who refused her requests. Do you think she reached out to Gucci or Tom Ford? I ask because she would look good being styled by Tom Ford.
Leslie Jones looks great. I really hope she’s the next big breakout star from SNL. She’s so good!
The shining glory for me is her entire vibe; she is feeling like the Queen she is, and it is radiating from her!
The dress itself is underwhelming to me, but she is living it and loving it and hot damn.
Beautiful, she also hilarious. Love the dress, they all shined.
Leslie looks fab!
Going to be pedantic about language though. Designers design for people to BUY their clothes, you can be any size to have a piece made for you. However, if you want to BORROW you have to be the sample size. If you want to have a conversation about too young models, I’m right there with you. If you want to talk about the days since the glory of the supermodels sizes have shrunk to the point where none of the old guard would even be considered, we can talk. Leslie is not big enough to have someone really big make her her own dress, simple.
thanks for the reality check.
He. *snap* Did. *snap* That. *snap*
She looks gorgeous and fashion at the end of the day is about clothes, EVERY single celebrity woman should be able to reach out to a fashion house and be dressed regardless of size. We’ll stop using the term ‘real’ women when we stop getting told if we don’t fit inside a teeny tiny box of physical features that our only hope is something from K-Mart.
for free ?
Omg, Kristen wore something amazing! I hope Go Fug Yourself does a whole article about it 😀
The dress is nothing special and can’t be expected on such a short notice, but the colour is beautiful on her.
My question is- if it was not known it’s is a Siriano dress would anyone guess it’s not off- the- rack-dress?
The fit is really great. Off the rack probably wouldn’t fit as well.
I think that Melissa’s and Kristen’s dresses have better fit. The other two not so much- my personal opinion.
It fits her waist really badly and the neckline is just wrong for her. I’m doubting they even did a fitting. Well chosen off the rack would have been better.
Wow, she’s really working that dress!
I A D O R E Leslie jones! And I love Siriano for dressing her. He is the consummate pro, the gown is perfection, and he loved dressing women of all shapes because he realizes that if we didn’t come in different shapes is would be BORING–and the beauty lost.
A little off the main topic, but Christian got married this weekend. It looked like a lot of the Orange is the New Black cast members were there (my giiiirrrlll Danielle posted pics). Congrats to him!
Love Melissa McCarthy dress. I would buy that for myself.
In a heartbeat. Don’t like the shoes though.
She looks AMAZING
Wowza!
I wish people would quit with the “sample size” excuse. She didn’t ask for Chanel couture. She asked for a size 10 dress. Size 10 models can walk a catwalk too, and they do, as well as larger sized models, therefore, there are larger samples.
I love all 4 of their looks. Can’t wait to see the movie, glad the reviews so far are positive.
Leslie looks amazing, and Christian did a great job. It’s amazing to me that no other designer wanted to step up. He’s going to get a lot of good press for this.
Awww. This is really a beautiful dress. This belies the idea put forth by fashion designers that one can only really look good if she is a size 0. Leslie Jones blows these other women away.
She looks exquisite. That color really pops. She was the best dressed of them all!
Leslie looks fab!
Fantastic acrosss the board! Suck it, haters! I am so seeing this movie on Friday.
Leslie Jones – Now was this so hard??? She looks great!
Melissa – Wow! She looks great!
Everyone one looks great. More importantly, I hope the film makes a lot of money domestically on July 15th.
Wow the whole cast is dressed incredibly !
The shoulder straps look too small and a bit loose, but otherwise, she looks great!
The dress is bad. Plain design that does nothing for her frame (she has a well-defined waist hidden in there somewhere and the neckline makes her bust look lower than it really is). Cheap material. Bad fit. Poorly made (close-ups show some really crappy hemming). Your local dressmaker could do this in a day. Hell, if you have a sewing machine and can follow a pattern you could make it at home pretty quickly.
This is why Siriano dresses so many women bigger designers won’t. He makes incredibly simple, cheap dresses that take very little time to produce, getting the good PR for very little effort. A bigger designer would put in at a minimum 10x as much money and time and not even get the PR because without the ‘designers won’t dress me’ story Leslie isn’t nearly famous enough to get much fashion coverage. It’s not remotely worth it for them.
Agree. The dress is bad. I feel like people are only saying it is good because of the controversy. The only saving grace is that Leslie has so much confidence, she would look good in anything.
This is nowhere near the level of a top designer dress and it doesn’t suit her.
All of the women look beautiful, especially Leslie and Melissa! I really hope the movie does well. It looks pretty funny from the previews.
The dress is nice and flattering, if not super exciting. I’m not crazy about her makeup though. Melissa does look nice but I wish her dress had short sleeves. The lady in blue…good color but do not love dress. Looks cheap and poorly fitted up top. The top is actually a lot like an athleta bikini top I have. Kristen looks ok. Neither love nor hate it.
She is wearing the hell out of that dress and she looks fabulous in it, but there is no way she can squeeze into a size 10. She’s a 12 at least.
Leslie looks gorgeous. I luv that dress, imo, she looks the best
Everyone looks amazing, and I really like Leslie’s dress but there’s something about the colour I’m not liking quite as well. It may just be that red doesn’t photograph properly, but I wish it were a richer, less-pink shade.
Still, again, everyone looks fantastic! I love Melissa’s dress too.
I love it. Less is so more.
Beautiful & elegant!
I think she looks stunning and beautiful! All the girls look great, but I’m liking her and Melissa’s looks the best.
Gorgeous dress and she looks absolutely beautiful in it
Sorry..I’m sure she’s hilarious and a lovely person, but I find her to be unfortunate looking.
It looks absolutely fab on her, and I love the color against her skin tone.
May I suggest as women we all go out and support this movie this weekend? It is, unfortunately, really important for women if we want to see more women “tent pole” movies in the future!
I dunno, I feel like I’m supposed to drink the kool-aid. She looks good and obviously seems to like it, but IMO, she would have looked better without the necklace or with something different … a really unique piece of jewelry to pop against what is kind of a basic dress or maybe still diamonds, but a different style than chunky…I’m thinking a longer piece, with a unique pendant. And I think had it been different fabric, maybe a different colour (I actually don’t like that red much on her but maybe it’s the lighting) and had a structured bodice, it would have looked better. I too am not a big fan of the neckline…, but then again, short notice, urgent demand, you get what you get. I also think she’s a 12,not a 10. And it’s true, big difference between buying a dress and borrowing it. I agree too, I think she’d look great in teal and turquoise and actually, if she’s got great legs, I think she would have hit a home run in a shorter dressy dress. Man, I could do this all day, fantasy-dress actresses. Fun! I was just looking up dresses online and saw a Vince Camuto Cowl Neck Green Velvet Dress that I think she’d look go in. With some funky silver jewelry and sexy high heels, boom.
I’m on the fence about the rest of the dresses. I like Wiig’s the least. I kind of like Melissa’s dress although I wish short sleeves and different colour maybe and Kate’s is ok…I can’t figure out the bodice.
Oh well, if they’re happy,I guess that’s enough. Just mo.
She looks stunning!
She looks perfect. Those off the shoulder straps are my pet peeve since I always want to hike them up, but she looks great.
