The more I think about it, the more I respect Kim Kardashian’s decision to stand up for her husband Kanye West. I’ve always believed that beyond the drama, the craziness and the fame, Kim and Kanye are two people who really and truly love each other. Kim choosing to Snapchat the receipts of Kanye’s conversation with Taylor Swift proves that love: Kim was and is prepared to take the hit, if she does get hit from Team Swift. Kim stood up for her husband in a really public way, regardless of personal and professional consequence. Kim was willing to put it out there and really go hard-negative when none of Taylor’s other Mean-Girl-victims could or would. I should also say this: considering the implicit racism Team Swift has been employing, I think it’s interesting that it took Kim standing up for her husband to get a lot of people to side with Kanye. Anyway, Us Weekly did a series of stories about Kim’s decision to post the conversation and there are some interesting details in their reporting. Some highlights:
Kim made the choice to post the video on Snapchat rather than on E!: A Kardashian source says, “They didn’t air it on the show because it would have required Taylor to sign a release for the usage and they didn’t want it to affect the entire network. Taylor will sue Kanye personally.”
Kim & Kanye are sick of Taylor’s Innocent Blonde Child act. “Kim and Kanye consulted with their lawyers and still went ahead with releasing it. They are not worried. They are sick of Taylor’s manipulations and her good girl act. They just wanted to expose her as a fake and will let the lawyers deal with legal stuff…. They are fully prepared for Taylor to sue. They weighed their options and decided they didn’t care.”
Kim ultimately decided to post the video. Multiple sources confirm to Us Weekly that Kim and Kanye talked about it a lot and weighed all of their options, and that Kanye was the one making the argument to NOT post the video. Kim thought about it for months, then decided she had to do something: “Kim was just waiting and didn’t want to post the video initially. She’s not a conflict person. But Kim feels like it gets to a point where you actually have to start saying something.”
Kanye tried to speak to Taylor before her hissy fit at the Grammys. “When Taylor initially freaked when the song debuted at the Yeezy show, Kanye tried calling Taylor again and reaching out to her. She was unresponsive to his outreach.” That, sources say, is what really “pushed Kim and Kanye over the edge” — and ultimately sealed Swift’s fate. “They wouldn’t have released that tape had she not dedicated her Grammys speech to bashing Kanye for something she was aware of. Kim and Kanye hope that one day they can make up with Taylor. They aren’t interested in having this beef.”
Kim stands up for Yeezy. “Kim is glad that the truth is out there. Kim was sick of it for them, for their kids, for everyone who believes in them, and she was not going to let people take Kanye down.”

Much bullying, so character assassination. No, honestly, I respect their work. And I find it almost sadly sweet that Kanye was making the argument to not make the video public. Like, he’s tangled with Taylor’s Innocent Blonde Child PR machinations for YEARS. He knows how bad it can get. And he didn’t want a repeat of it, and he didn’t want Kim to get involved. But Kim did get involved and bless her.

I do understand the reasons for interest, but I’m So sick of all this and all of them, personally. She’s 35, hes nearly 40, even Taylor is mid-20s now, and this all started when he interrupted Taylor a million years ago. This would be soooo long forgotten- it didn’t need to be kept up for years and years on both sides! Seriously, ridiculous. Immature to the level of insanity. But of course they do this because it’s how they all stay relevant. But seriously, how can any other actual celeb they rub elbows with even associate with them now? I feel like its damaging to the legitimacy of all involved.
And it’s been done since the beginning of the world. The problem now it’s over exposure, but since the entertainment era started, artists have been feuding and it will go on. People disagree, feud, fight and argue because we clash. The entertainment world is pretty tame compared to what happens in real life, outside of fame. I don’t understand why some people in here are so surprised!

The reason was her reality show and ratings. and yes I think Kim was beyond pissed that no one cared about Famous. I am sure that Kanye was pissed also. What’s sad Kanye has talent and used to get a lot of acclaim as a rapper. But marrying a reality star and feuding with the likes of Swift, and complaining about the fashion industry has pretty much made him a laughing stock. No one is interested in him rapping about petty BS.

I personally think Kanye obsessed with Taylor because he put her naked in his video and then was asking people to sue him. I think he was asking Swift to sue him. He clearly did everything to drag her into his drama.

Kayne got up on that VMA stage. That was first contact; that’s on him. Then they made their peace. The next significant interaction was Kanye calling her to ask permission to use her in the song. She agreed. Then SHE went off on her Big, Bad Kanye tour: the statement, the Grammy speech, getting her squad to call him out for attacking her. His response to that was the video (which featured people other than TS) and then the release of the tapes vindicating what Kimye had said.
She has been just as much a part of their interactions. She now wants to be excluded from the ‘narrative’ only because they’ve exposed her for the fraud she is.

Perhaps but many times the regular press plays the wrong hand, they’ve had to backtrack and try a new angle when they realize the usual bs they try to put out is being pushed back in comments sections and online.
Especially with Taylor, when the Taylor/Nicki issue happened the regular press tried to paint Nicki as the villain and the backlash to that made them reshuffle the story and say it was a “mutual disagreement”.
When every celebrity that Taylor has worked with has contributed to the social media wave of liking posts criticizing her or posting their own snake emoji’s mocking her that tells me traditional media isn’t catching the full story or aware of its full impact.
If someone doesn’t want publicity then you comment once and let it go. Seems like neither of them can let it go. Just today alone there are 3 articles on this. The number of articles the past few days is about 6 or 7. The number of comments on each article are large. Time to get over it for all of them. I will say KK and KW get more publicity, whether it is good or bad, out of this feud. The comment numbers on Kardashian articles were usually below 50. But Swift is getting publicity also – whether she want it or not. But she could shut it down if she wanted.
I think we have to distinguish between what the press is writing and what Kim/Kanye and Taylor are actually doing.
Kim said for a long time she had this tape and that she had even gotten a threatening letter from Taylor Swift’s lawyers ordering her to destroy it. It’s pretty clear she set this up for maximum damage to Taylor and Taylor for her part whether through arrogance or ignorance couldn’t admit maybe she did agree to the song and even made suggestions. I think ironically she also released very little to directly smash Swift’s initial statements that she never took the phone call etc. I think it ‘could’ end here but I also think if Taylor voices more defenses that may be untrue we may see more footage leaked.
For Kim PR wise this is fantastic. Social media has been full of people championing her including one memorable post that said something along the lines of: “Katy warned us, Nicki warned us, Calvin warned us, Kim SHOWED us.” This warms her heart I’m sure. For Taylor, save for these poorly worded letters from her/her lawyer/or team she’s been silent. Like someone else said she went from being photographed everyday with Tom to now being totally unseen and even her friend’s coming to her defense has been scant.
I think she’s hunkered down in a hotel somewhere doing damage control trying to figure out the best angle and that she’ll stay semi-quiet till she does. Till then though the press is gonna hash this out every which way because they love a good downfall story and Taylor was built up pretty high through her own machinations.

For the media these three (two?) and their subsequent images, could not be more polarizing. It isn’t just a takedown, it’s heavily layered and full of so much rich history, and because it was Kim K, obvious famewhore known for lying and manipulating, and mostly caring about her whatever she cares about, image?And then Tay Swift, who everyone kind of knew was an image manipulator, maybe tiny fibber, but had been just been relegated to probable mean girl (no real proof) on top of a being known for leading a fairly altruistic life. Polar opposites.
Because of this layered history between all of them, and how hard Taylor publicly hustled this image of purity and gal pals and the innocent constantly being dark clouded by everyone else, to be clapped back at so loudly, it causes so much more impact than all of Taylor Swifts individual fights combined.
Sure, we cared and listened when it was Katy, Calvin, Nicki, but it was far less impactful because the incidents were singular ones that just played out in the media. The Kanye and Taylor drama ebbed and flowed for years without real juicy gossip that had much bite beyond the initial mic incident. Finally, after years of much ado about nothing, this “gossip” delivered a deep well of conversations and think pieces about hypocrisy, image manipulation, public perception, feminism, racism, misogynistic, self awareness and damage control. I mean, it’s so much more than just the three bozos involved. That’s why everyone can’t stop talking about it media wise. It’s amazing.
I agree Taylor will hunker down, evaluate, calculate a plan and then we will see her when she’s ready to execute it. I personally can’t even imagine her game plan.
I’m not a fan of either but if I had to choose I choose Taylor’s music, which I own a few songs of, over the K show ANY TIME OF DAY. It’s also of note I think that Taylor did use and benefit and bring them up again publicly in a tweet about the mic, and then another time some public joke.
So I think the real reason Kim is going so hard is because I genuinely truly believe Kim and Kanye thought they were cool with Taylor. They overestimated her and then she waaaaaaay underestimated them.

I don’t for a second believe that Kanye was against releasing the video-he has become more and more delusional and impulsive in the last few years and I don’t think he would have thought twice about releasing it, particularly after her little rant at the Grammys. This is one area where Kim and her really shine and where I will give them credit for being clear headed and sensible-even it is just because they are protecting the brand.
I’m sure there is a degree of them deciding ultimately that they just didn’t give a f**k, but they have spent waaay to much time perfecting the aforementioned brand to risk damaging it trying to get back at TS this way, to not know they were virtually untouchable. I just can’t see them taking that chance.

I am suddenly finding this Taylor Swift story almost too depressing to follow. As in, it was fun for awhile, but I’m not sure if I will have the stomache for watching this spoiled woman continue to make millions and millions (and millions) while being grateful to no one and never acknowledging how lucky she is to be born white, pretty and protected from everything by a team that makes sure all her needs are met at all times. Not only is she not grateful , she is secretly spiteful and vindictive of anyone who she perceives as rejecting or getting something that should be “hers” (Katy Pery, boyfriends, etc). She’s just awful. I always saw her as harmless fun with her ridiculous boyfriends, etc. Now I don’t even like seeing her. I don’t think it’s fun gossip anymore when she is using race to throw Kanye under the bus. Makes me kinda sick actually. An adult should have taught her how to be more than a spoilt princess a long time ago, and now it is too late because she is a spoilt, lying adult not likely to change.
Taylor is the worst sort of narcissist, she really believes the world revolves around HER. Throw in the racial tones of her situation with Kanye and how she’s never called out of her behavior by the press (calling other women whores, her squad, the beefs with Perry, Nicki, etc.)…rich and entitled princess just doesn’t seem to cover it. There were no cameras around. My husband and I were sight-seeing in Nashville, TN a couple of years ago and eating at a pizza place. He (who could give two craps less about celebrities) pointed outside and said, “is that girl someone we should know”. TS had noticed two young girls standing outside the pizza place and had whoever was driving her little VW bug pull up to them and she spoke with them for several minutes and signed some of their items and took a few pictures. I have never forgotten this and thought it was so sweet and kind. I know all of these people are probably not the greatest of character….but I think she is a halfway decent person. Do I think she lied, yes, is she the only person in America who has lied in order to avoid being persecuted by the media, uh no. I really think she wants out of the KK drama.

She wasn’t being nice to me, it was two tweens who were standing outside the restaurant, probably waiting on their parents. There really weren’t a lot of people around. I also think that people have different reactions to the b-word. It’s apparently not a big deal to Kim and Kanye, but I personally do not stand for it. Maybe because I’m, personally, so offended by the word (and, to be honest, I don’t understand how others aren’t. It’s such a disenfranchising word, it literally de-humanizes women – and I stand by my use of “literally”). I can understand how people are already sick of this battle, but I think it’s very important. It touches upon feminism and racism, and the millions of dollars raked in by a pop star who has built an empire based on victimhood (which is decidedly NOT feminist). Why should they let go? If it’s Taylor’s aim to them look like baddies who deceived her and she was a willing participant all along, she should own up to it. Out of curiosity, I watched some episodes of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. This is a show I have taken great pleasure in looking down upon. I hate the whole concept.
And I enjoyed those episodes immensely. I am playing it in the background now while I proofread. It’s perfect. It’s soothing. Funny, silly, dumb, and some of these people are kind of sweet even when they are insanely shallow and fake.
