Some people – many people? – believe that Blac Chyna has ulterior motives with Rob Kardashian. Like, she’s only with him for a mixture of revenge, fame-seeking and money. For what it’s worth, I think she cares about Rob. I also think she’s interested in revenge, fame and money. Rob and Chyna cover this week’s issue of People Magazine, but the interview is pretty boring – you can read the full piece here. They’re promoting their new E! show, and it’s interesting to see this cover story, from a perspective of “will middle America buy this?”
Meanwhile, Chyna did a photoshoot and interview with Elle Mag, and the piece is pretty enlightening. Elle comes right out and says that Chyna likely has ulterior motives, but sure, let’s all pretend that this is happening for real. Elle notes that her profile has been raised so significantly at this point, she now makes more than $50K for a personal appearance. She’s branding beauty lines and more. She started stripping at 18 to make money for college: “I was falling asleep all the time in class. It wasn’t working out for me.” She eventually dropped out of college, committing herself to stripping and modeling full-time. Her mother, a Dominican beauty who goes by the name Tokyo Toni, was fine with her decision. “My mom used to be a stripper,” Chyna says, “so she was like, ‘If this is what you want to do, be the best at it.'”
Her fame in the world of strippers: “The most I’ve ever made in one night is $15,000. You couldn’t miss me. You would want to come meet me.”
When Tyga cast her in a music video, she was only paid $2500: “I should’ve gotten more. He’s kinda cheap.”
When Tyga left her for Kylie: “When you don’t want to be in a relationship with somebody anymore, you don’t give a f–k what they’re doing. I was just like, ‘thank God I’m out of that situation.’ And honestly, it was the best thing that I could’ve done, because my life has changed so much for the better.”
Starting up with Rob: “When I linked up with Rob, he was at a point where nobody could really help him. But I’m the type of person that likes to motivate my friends and help them figure out how they can do better. That’s how we really started off.” She’s proceeded by giving him his space. “When I’m around Rob, I’m never all up in his business, asking questions. I let him be himself and relax. I’m not a therapist. If he opens up, and I say the wrong thing, he may shut me out. Sometimes it’s just best to let people talk about it and get it off their chest. That’s how I’ve been carrying the situation with me and Rob, and so far it’s worked out.”
The real Chyna: “I wanted to show people my personality, that I’m not just a pretty face or what some people paint me out to be: this bad person, this stripper ho. I want them to see me as a mom, a business-woman, a growing being.”
The baby: “You all will find out [the sex of the baby] during the premiere of our show on September 11,” she teases. Will their scion have a “K” moniker, like all of his (or her) famous aunties? “No,” Chyna says unequivocally. “The baby won’t have a K name. We both agreed.”
There are quotes about her relationship with Rob is working out, and it just doesn’t seem like a love match, I guess? Like, Rob probably shouldn’t be in a relationship because he needs to work on himself so much. And while I don’t doubt that Chyna has helped him, she’s not his therapist (as she says) and she’s pretty much saying that she has to walk around eggshells around him because of his agoraphobia and depression. So, is she using Rob? Maybe. But I guess the better question is “who cares?”

His other sisters, who were her friends, Kourtney and Kim – dropped her like a hot coal at a time when she must have been absolutely devastated
So I would say that she might be making money off the Kardashian name but I would doubt how keen she really is on them as a family
How he recovers and how they treat her as a family will set the tone for things to come.

The first thing I noticed was the Manson & Beach Boys header. Last year my favorite podcast You Must remember this did and whole series on the Manson family. It was done really well. Such a creepy and fascinating story.

I like her. I think that Kylie person is the most ridiculous charicature on internet and what she did to Chyna’s family was horrid. Her ex was the definition of douche and her best friend (Kim) was a traitor. If my sister did something as shady I would never support her just because she is my sister. I would give her my love -because she would obviously need it- and really support my hurt friend. I am happy Chyna has moved on. Who cares with whom or why? Anything would be an upgrade. Maybe her next husband be the one or the one after him. Who cares?
Yes, Elle. I’ve fallen in love with Chyna and I agree that yes, Kylie is family but she’s wrong. Tyga is a lost cause and obviously he took advantage of both, though I won’t go into the narrative that Kylie was a child and therefore she didn’t know what she was doing because that’s just not true. Chyna has always been lovely, we’re just now seeing this side of her.

Agreed. As for the other commenters, of course Tyga is in the wrong and should be in jail for statutory rape. But, the whole “she was underaged” defense only goes so far. At a certain point, whether you’re underaged or not, you’re old enough to know better and make the right decision. That doesn’t negate Tyga’s responsibility. And, where were Kylie’s parents to make sure she wasn’t being preyed upon? They had the power to keep this from happening and they didn’t. Yes, an underaged girl can be a predator. This was my thought as well. Poor Prince. His death has been like a cautionary tale about how important it is to have a will. I’m sure he would be devastated to know what his family and his exes are doing now that he’s gone. Such a shame.
It’s impossible to judge someone else’s relationship from the outside but whatever their situation is, it doesn’t sound like a baby is the best idea right now. I do hope it works out for them. To survive in that family … good luck to everyone involved.

She comes across as a much kinder person that the Kardashian/Jenner Krew, and she actually has sought out extra training to help with her business ventures. She’s a saver and a planner, not a spender. That all makes her very different from the Kardashians.

Whatever the motive is she has achieved the ultimate come up (in D-list celebrity world). Which only highlights the failures of Kylie’s sisters in protecting her even more. She should’ve never gotten with Tyga in the first place AND she’s too young to be a laughingstock/center of the screwiest family tree ever. It’s a wonder Kylie even has self-esteem at this point.

It’s also possible that she’s not really walking on eggshells all the time. She MIGHT have meant it as “I’m not a therapist so I don’t want to give him advice that turns out to be the wrong move and it set him back”. She seems like maybe she’s motivating him to get out more, and to be more active, or whatever, without trying to diagnose his problems and tell him what to do all the time. I suspect the later was more the case of what the Klan were doing. She lets him vent when he feels like it without badgering him to do so.
It’s not the kind of lifestyle everyone would want, but maybe they’re both cool with it. Honestly, it could be a lot worse, so who am I to judge.
From what I can see, she’s been very good for Rob. I don’t think the reality show is good for them, but the money is a major attraction. I hope they just do it for now and stop rather than trying to extend it. Angela seems good with money, so hopefully she won’t let Rob spend the windfall quickly as Kardashians tend to do.

I just want to point out that Blac Chyna had a beauty line (and I think a spa?) before Rob ever entered the picture. She didn’t need Rob for that. It’s not like Blac Chyna was broke before news of this relationship got out into the world. Previous to Rob, she was doing club appearances with Amber Rose (and I’m sure making good money to do it). And previous to hanging out with Amber, she was a very famous Stripper who was featured in a few different rap songs. Yes, this whole situation is a bit of a come up. But, I’m tired of this narrative that Blac Chyna had nothing going for her before she decided to become a Kardashian. She’s actually been quite business savvy for a long time.
