Last year, we learned that Mel Gibson had somehow gotten himself a new girlfriend. It was a gentle reminder that while most of us stamped Mel Gibson’s face with a giant “DO NOT WANT” years ago, there are some sad souls who are brave enough to try their luck on the Steroid Santa Express. Mel’s girlfriend – whom he’s been dating for nearly two years – is a 26-year-old named Rosalind Ross. They got together when she was 24 and he was 58. He’s now 60. And guess what? She’s knocked up. It will be her first child and his ninth child. He honestly has kids older than Rosalind, you know.
Mel Gibson and Rosalind Ross, his girlfriend of two years, are expecting a baby early next year, the star’s rep confirms to PEOPLE exclusively. Already a father of eight kids, Gibson, 60, is thrilled to add to his brood.
“Mel and Rose are so excited about the baby,” says a friend close to the couple. “Mel loves being a dad and he and Rose can’t wait to be parents together. The last two years have been some of his happiest years he’s ever had.”
This will be a first child for Ross, 26, a writer and former champion equestrian vaulter.
“She is great for him,” a source told PEOPLE recently. “She has her own life, but also seems to enjoy Mel’s … They are very much on the same page.”
Gibson has been enjoying more good news. His latest directorial effort, the World War II drama Hacksaw Ridge, out on Nov. 4, has already garnered Oscar buzz and received a 10-minute standing ovation at its debut at the Venice Film Festival on Sept. 4. Gibson will soon head to Europe to shoot the film The Professor and the Madman, opposite Sean Penn.
Oftentimes when we discuss these kinds of extreme age differences between couples, I try to use my best judgment to assess how sorry I feel for the younger woman (and it’s always a younger woman). Like, if the girlfriend was 18 when she got with someone in his 50s, I feel even more sympathy/pity, because who amongst knew what the hell we were doing at 18? At 24-26 though? I mean, we’re still confused about many things, but at that age, you pretty much know who you are and you’re on your path. So Rosalind’s path is to have a baby with Mel Gibson. I do feel some sympathy for her, but not much. It’s all happiness now, but it will turn. Trust me. And when it turns, she’s going to wish she had paid more attention to the fate of Oksana Grigorieva.

Good luck, Sugar T!ts.
LMAO
Yuck. I mean just…yuck
Ha! Best comment.
HA! So nasty. Thank you.
Lol! Mel is her IRA. (And her NRA, but she just doesn’t know that part yet.)
Bridget, you slayed me!!
But she’s going to change him.
Oh course she is. He was waiting his whole life for this special snowflake who will magically make him a decent person.
Is it ok that I still have sympathy for her? I didn’t know what I was doing until 30. I kind of believed this narrative three too many times. Some of us are just a little slow. Poor thing. It is a hard moment when you finally accept you are not a special snowflake who cannot change bad boys. But at least the guys I dated were sexy bad boys more or less my own age.
Ew. He started to implode in the early-to-mid 2000s, right? So she was too young to pay attention or care. That actually might explain why he’s dating so young…had to get down to the generation that hasn’t really ever heard of him.
Still gross beyond measure.
But she still has EYES, right?
My thoughts exactly, Kit.
And now to bleach my brain because this announcement was a very unwelcome reminder that someone is having sex with Mel Gibson.
Dollars. Lots of them overrule the sight before her.
And google? I mean…
By the way Kitten. LOVE LOVE LOVE you and your posts yesterday on Cheeto. You were right on the money. 💜
Oh, let me add more Kitten love for her/your political judgement, knowledge and way of expressing yourself! What a sane person you are. I really enjoy reading your comments.
And your comments were right on the mark also, WATP. Thanks.
Aw you guys make me feel good ❤️
I didn’t say anything different than what’s been said before. I just thank you guys for hearing me and getting it. This forum is the only place that I can handle in terms of political coverage. The bloggers do a fantastic job, but the smart commenters are what keeps me coming back. Love you guys.
He’s probably better looking than the other rich, available dudes. Pickings are slim when you’re looking for a wealthy partner. And Mel may have an entire baseball team worth of kids, but he’s also very, very wealthy. Don’t forget that he financed part of The Passion Of The Christ himself and made a ton on that.
Nope – I am 26 and have fully witnessed all his messes.
Even if she missed the phone throwing incident, the stuff with him hurling abuse at the mother of his child was only like 5 years ago.
Not to give a complete pass to Mel, but I guarantee that Oksana chick was a total hustler. I wish I was one of those non-judgemental people, but it makes me get that gaggy feeling in my throat when someone is with a person older than their own father/younger than their children.
And? Of course she was a hustler. Who else would be with Mel?
Also, we dont really know anything about her. She may have been raised in dysfunction and if she was, then it probably wasnt hard to makes excuses for Mels past. Plus I’m sure he was perfectly charming in the beginning. I feel bad for her. She lives with a dangerously volatile man and now she is having a kid with him.
He might still be perfectly charming. Two years isn’t all that long; she probably hasn’t really pissed him off yet. It’ll come, though, likely as not, and unless he’s made some Major Changes since the last round of domestic violence, she’ll do something to trigger his wrath. (Not blaming her, or saying she deserves it, far from it, it’ll be his crazy ass’s fault, but that’s how he’ll see it.)
Before or after the hot tub?
Oh Lily, no you didn’t!
This is about locking down future payments, not lurve.
I’m shocked that there’s anyone who would still sleep with him?
Hey friend! Long time 😏
Who wouldn’t want to be Mrs. Steroid Santa?
Hey!! Yeah, my job watches internet usage like a hawk so I find very little time to make it here. And ha at Steroid Santa, that pretty much sums it up.. do you leave vials of testosterone instead of milk and cookies?
You need to quit, obviously.
Ditto…….
Remember, BJ before Jacuzzi………………….
If she can just remember that, she’ll be good.
Lol!!!
I’m sorry, my brain got stuck on Mel Gibson doing a movie with Sean Penn.
Everyone else on that set better duck and cover.
I feel like that would be an expensive movie to insure, what with all the rage, etc.
Which one is professor and which is madman?
I love that book, so obviously I will never see the movie. Mel Gibson and Sean Penn? Isn’t there at least bit part for Johnny Depp?
And Charlie Sheen in a cameo?
I love that book, too! It was the first Simon Winchester book I ever read, then I had to go back & read everything else. He’s brilliant & he does the reading for his audiobooks. Those are great, too.
Sarcasm on:
You see he doesn’t believe in condoms or birth control because he’s such a good Catholic. Racism, anti-semitism, sexism, homophobia, violence towards the mother of your child, and good old fashioned sex before marriage? Yeah Jesus is totally fine with all of that. 🙄
Or, you know, he actually loves being a father. Some men do. We’re not shocked when women want a lot of children to love and nurture.
It’s the cherry picking of religious beliefs that annoys me. Personally i’m an atheist so i think all religions are kinda ridiculous. But it grinds my gears to hear people proclaim how religious they are (Mel made Passion of the Christ) but they pick and choose what they want to follow from the religion.
“All religions” have the built-in assumption that their adherents will not always adhere. “Ridiculous” or realistic — it depends on one’s perspective, I suppose.
@Sam-so adherents of a religion need not adhere, but are free to preach about all that they’re not adhering to while judging those that don’t adhere? 🤔
I think Melly’s point was that sounds….convenient.
@Kitten- *IF* you view Mel’s making of “The Passion of the Christ” as him being preachy, judgmental, and/or holier-than-thou, then of course him fathering children out of wedlock is annoyingly hypocritical. I just don’t consider making a religious film to be a judgmental act or a statement of personal holiness on the filmmaker’s part.
Anyway, I don’t think that selective adherence to Catholic doctrine is why Mel choose not to get snipped. If he’s willing to risk the “mortal sin” of adultery, then why not add the lesser sin of sterilization if he didn’t want more kids? According to Catholic logic, he is in a state of sin anyway and can always go to confession. It’s obvious to me that Mel didn’t get a vasectomy because he doesn’t mind having more children, not because Catholic guilt is holding him back.
He’s been a drunk throughout his tenure as a father. He’s been recorded being horribly abusive to other people, both drunk and sober. He hit his partner when she has their child in his arms. He’s excused his behavior as just “one moment in time.”
I guarantee no matter how much he might love being a father, people around him–like how kids–are a lot less thrilled to have Mel for a father. So let’s not romanticize having loads of children because it suits his (or your) religious beliefs.
Sorry, last sentence isn’t clear. I mean, no matter what his reasons are for being a father, he’s a sh*t one. Nobody should assume he’s having kids for religious reasons, even if they share his faith (I know Roman Catholics are heavy on romanticizing oodles of kids and he’s a wonky more extreme version of that). Even if he offered up religion as a reason, the real explanation Is more likely narcissism or desire to control others. The religion is just an excuse.
I think his sexy talk repertoire is “lets make a baby.” No sarcasm.
Didn’t he give an interview when he was still married indicating that Robyn would go to hell because she wasn’t Catholic? Lovely man.
The Professor and the Madman? Wouldn’t they both be the mad man?
Ahahaha, lilac, I was just thinking the same thing!
It’s been a long time since 18 year olds did not know what they were doing. This generation has access to all kind of information. A 15 year old knows exactly what he/ she wants and how to get it. There’s no point for ‘youngsters don’t know what they’re doing’.
I don’t know how much Gibson wanted another kid, so I imagine this was more her decision.
Not that they don’t know what they’re doing but just don’t have the maturity or emotional intelligence to understand how they’ll deal with the consequences when things go south. When I was 18 I too thought a relationship with someone older was just what I wanted but I never could have guessed all the other stuff that goes along with wanting something.
Agree with Sarah, the human brain is not fully mature until the age of 25, so the average 18 year old might now exactly what they want and have no idea what to do with it when they’ve got it.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-24173194
You confuse a partly-matured 15-year-old having a nascent sexuality and a desire to explore it (completely normal and acceptable) with a fully-matured 30/40/50-year-old adult exploiting that sexuality in a relationship with an asymmetric power balance (not acceptable and often abusive).
It’s not so much the knowledge but the application. You can know what you want, but not understand the ramifications of it, or only consider one side of it because you don’t have the life experience to know about or extrapolate the other facets. It’s like reading the textbook versus actually having hands on experience. Who are you going to want fixing your toilet, the 18 year old who’s read a lot of books on plumbing or the, say, 35 year old who’s actually been fixing toilets for over a decade? The experienced person will be able to anticipate problems and be familiar with many different solutions, while the other might not be able to deal with something that wasn’t detailed in their textbook. They haven’t fixed enough toilets to have a fully rounded view of the mechanics of it, where things tend to fail, and how to quickly combat unexpected issues. Meanwhile you have a sh*t geyser in your house and suddenly realize all the book-learning in the world isn’t much use without practical experience.
A good analogy, considering just who the post is about 🙂
These May/December romances give me so much second-hand embarrassment. I don’t know how these men don’t see how ridiculous it makes them look, not to mention old.
I think it’s because other men don’t seem to see it that way. It’s like “I’m so virile and manly this young woman wants to bang me” and other dudes are like “yeah, wow, she’s hot, you are manly!” While women tend to think “uh, you’re old and sad, and maybe creepy”. I suppose evolutionarily speaking, this behavior would be advantageous; young women are more fertile so an older man who could find a younger mate would have more progeny. As Mel appears to be doing. *shudder*
Exactly. These men care only about the opinion of other men.
She has her own life and is a writer? She always seems to be with him. And what does she write? That’s a generic statement. Does she write for a publication? Has she written a book? What kind of writing does she do for a living?
She is great at financial planning. Getting pregnant by an extremely wealthy older man proves that. LOL
But he has eight other children. She’s guaranteed child support, but if he croaks there might not be much of an inheritance.
And he’s 60. By the time she’s in her mid 40s and the child is 20, it won’t a matter of if but when. She’ll be in her mid 40s still an aspiring writer who once “seemed to enjoy” the father’s life.
Cheques / checks. That’s what she writes Jayna. From Mel’s account.
This is not going to end well. I sincerely hope Rosalind stays safe. When things went south with Oksana he punched her in the face so hard he broke her teeth. I remember the photos. Mel has uncontrollable violent rages. I feel very sad for this young woman and child that is about to be born into this nightmare.
I feel no sympathy for her, all the sympathy for the baby. I’m younger than she is, but I still vividly remember what he did to Oksana. It’s beyond selfish and disgusting to bring a baby into the world with a father who is a well-known, well-documented, violent rage monster. Don’t get too tired digging for that gold, babe. You have a hair-trigger baby daddy to try not to piss off and a child to protect.
For all the crap flung at Amber Heard, she made sure not to bring a child into that situation and apparently in the end tried to protect their dogs.
This all the way. Shambles, your post pretty much says all that needs saying on this topic.
Agree completely, Shamby. Simple Google search would tell he everything she needs to know. So yeah…NO to this idea that she’s some babe in the woods.
There were many good reasons to disbelieve Oksana’s claims about how her teeth got broken. It is unlikely that Gibson had anything to do with it. This is the same woman who claimed she had to remove the battery from her iPhone to stop getting calls from Mel. Except you need special tools and some skill to remove a battery from an iPhone (it’s not intended to be doable by a normal user) and there are far easier ways to shut down the phone or just mute it. So please have a bucket of salt handy when listening to Oksana
I think it’s more important to note that two of Oksana’s veneers were broken, not her “teeth.” Gibson would have faced far more serious legal charges if he broke her teeth.
Just grief for all his children and exes. Such a bad man. I think all his money was very persuasive to the young woman. Assholes like him just never stop being assholes. He’s the Donald Trump of Hollywood.
Gross. And with Mel’s history of abuse, scary.
I feel sorry for the baby. How selfish of them to do this to a child….baby will be 10 when he is 70!! Not to mention the abuse allegations. As if that wasn’t enough.
I can’t imagine having a step mother that’s 10 years younger than you, since his oldest daughter is 36.. How awkward family dinners must be.
edit: they aren’t married, my bad, but you get the gist.
“Your step-mom’s cute. Remember when she was a senior and we were freshman?”
Love the Bill & Tes reference, Betty Rose!
😂😂😂👍👍👍
I was struck how much Rosalind favors his wife, Robin, when she was young.
Yes! She DOES look like Robin.
Yuk. As ever it’s not really the years that bother me so much as the power imbalance. She has no chance on any level financial, professional of holding her own with him. A child isn’t going to calm him down he has eight already – a huge brood- but he’s still as mad (crazy to Americans) as a box of frogs.
Yes. I don’t object to May-December relationships per se. Sometimes there isn’t a power imbalance and each party finds what it needs in a differently-aged significant other, and can also give that significant other what THEY need.
Not the case here, though. Nor the case in most of these high profile May-December couplings.
The high profile relationships have to be imbalanced because we are hearing about these people precisely because they are rich, powerful and famous. Unless they are matched in those departments one will always be weaker than the other and at a natural disadvantage. Like you the years thing really doesn’t bother me, live and let live (I’m not even going to get into Sex tourism/Sexual slavery in any other name due to massive economic imbalances across the globe – is just too depressing ..)
Exactly and cosign.
A power imbalance is the problem, although from what I’ve read R.R. is financially independent, with her own house and money.
“They are very much on the same page.”
The same page in exactly what book? “Mein Kampf”?
I involuntarily laughed, way too much, at this😂
Bwahahahaha
Mel is her financial plan. It will all end in tears.
I don’t feel sorry for her, just the baby. She an “aspiring” screenwriter. Just like Oksana was an aspiring singer. Whenever you see the word “aspiring” connected to this kind of romance, you know you’re looking at someone reaching for the brass ring on someone else’s coat tails. She just happened to pick the most disgusting coat tails. Dumb girl.
Good luck with that.
I’m just reminded of Mick Jagger, who’s on child No. 103 now.
Difference is Mick Jagger isn’t abusive. I can see why women are drawn to him. Mel Gibson? No. Never.
To be fair this is only the third woman he’s knocked up in 40 years. Seven of his children are from his first wife. Rod Stewart I think has just as many but he never had more than two by the same woman. Clint Eastwood has fathered something like 14 kids with 11 baby mamas and never got this kind of public scrutiny.
For a former equestrian, she sure chose the wrong horse to ride.
She traded her horse for a jack@$$.
Is an equestrian vaulter someone who jumps over horses or is a show jumper?
She sure looks a lot like Mick Jagger’s young, knocked up girlfriend…
I’ve often wondered how his first wife Robin (sp? Robyn?) managed to stay married to him for so long,
Yuck.
I remember watching the Oscars decades ago when he was still young and good looking and wondering why Robyn had such a downcast expression on her face. Now I know.
I’m sure this person can read as young as she is. I’m thinking she knows to read $$$$ in her bank account. I bet she gives the best B J’s. good luck sugar tits😜.
Gross
Super gross.
It seems to me that in the past ten years, the rich and powerful men of this world have been regressing again to a primitive, very biologically driven mode of choosing their mates. Women as young and as beautiful as they can get away with. In the past – say fifty years ago and before that – these pairings might have worked because most women had no chance of having a life of their own. But today, those young and beautiful women WILL at a certain point claim a life of their own. And that’s where it all goes horribly wrong. Because hell hath no fury like a rich powerful older man scorned by a much younger woman
Some behavioral economist needs to get on this, stat. What has rising income inequality meant for romantic couplings in a world of too-rich older men and highly educated younger women?
I’m waiting for that with Alec Baldwin. I can see much younger Hilaria growing tired of his grumpiness and temper and move on to a younger guy many years from now as he ages. Not making the money he used to and child support for three kids, he’s going to implode.
I want to read about a movie starring Mel Gibson, Sean Penn, and Alec Baldwin.
I want to watch a reality show in which Rosalind, Hilaria, Oksana, and Mick’s Jagger’s Melanie live in a lovely Bel Air mansion raising their TrooLove babies by pooling their payments.
Meanwhile, they vie for the troo affections of Gerard Butler and Jared Leto and Adrian Brody, and Elon Musk.
That is what I want, please.
I’m 35 and my own father isn’t even 60 years old yet. To me, this match is gross, to say nothing of his bigoted tendancies.
I thought he was even older.
His temperament will rear it’s head, he’s disgusting.
I thought the same.
Somebody who claims to know her said she was famous for sleeping her way to the top on vaulting competitions. Also, that she was completely obsessed with Mel Gibson, stalked him, and ended up changing her appearance (darkening her her dark) to get his attention.
In a way I hope it’s true, because it means she’s aware enough to at least know what she got into.
How do you sleep your way to the top in competitive horse dancing? Sleep with the judges? That kind of rumor about women strikes me as sour grapes, especially about athletes (even those competing in a stupid sport).
The hair thing intrigued me, so I did a google image search and only found one picture of her with lighter hair: an artsy nude photo with her riding partner for 2011 ESPN Body Issue. In the rest of the old photos, her hair was as dark as it is now.
Unfortunately, rich men will always be able to find young and attractive women looking for a meal ticket. It’s too bad that most men can father children until the day they die. It’s incredibly unfair but that’s biology for you. I’ve been questioning whether I should date a man I like who is a decade younger and these men are dating women who are young enough to be their daughters or even granddaughters. It’s disgusting.
Shi, I’m 26 and still unsure of my “path”, but I definitely would NOT want or choose to have a 60 year old nutjob’s kid, however much money that includes. But that’s me and I ain’t a gold digger, so…blech. Thats like if my dad just had a kid with someone my age and that would be hard to stomach and even harder to accept 😣
Dis-gust-ing: arousing revulsion or strong indignation. Yeah.
I get worldly men (Donald Trump springs to mind) whose greatest fear in life is the other side of it: Death. I get they want to live forever while, sadly, knowing they will not at some appointed time in the future. I get worldly women who sleep with men the ages of their grandfathers for money, for the promise they’ll never have to work again among the less fortunates. I get those same women don’t usually anticipate the older family or families (as the cases may be) battling them to the bloody end to get their claws deeper into the trough of dimes the elder leaves behind (he sure as bloody hell doesn’t take it with him). What I have yet to forgive is the inherent selfishness in it all. Children need living parents. I know that young parents die every day and old ones can live long enough to play scrabble with Methuselah in the nursing home. Chances, however, are still heavily stacked in the favor of the young over the old. I lost my dad when I was 16 and it changed my life forever: for the worst. He was my best friend. He didn’t want me to be born because he wanted only to spare me the suffering to come in his absence. He was already getting sick, but my mom wouldn’t listen and Daddy gave in to her (like so many spouses do when the other one is hellbent). I have my memories to always cherish, like sitting perched on his arm sharing peanuts and pickles and laughing whenever he laughed at the TV. You can’t measure love in years, but I surely do wish I had been granted a few more of his in mine. If only people would just step back and think of the children, really think about them, and put them first. I have spoken to many children of older parents who bore late children after having borne plenty of healthy children in their prime. A whole new family begins with the outlier and too often sadly ends prematurely for cabooses to endure during some of their hardest years. It doesn’t surprise me every time I hear how they wished their mothers in particular, if the circumstances were not accidental but instead pre-planned, had thought just once of how lonely a lifetime can be when a child loses a parent way too young and her older siblings are of no comfort because they’re strangers who belong to another family, place and time. My heart goes out to this little child because no matter the wealth, the fame, the prestige, her life may well prove a long and hard road to hoe with a certain sad loneliness forever hanging over her shoulder. Be strong, little one-to-be. Remember, if you can, that loneliness lies too well: You are not alone, no matter how lonely you feel so deeply inside. Only you alone can convince yourself of it. That’s the catch and the trap for so many in your uncoveted place. Please, just try not to run to every seemingly friendly face in which you may eagerly want to find that elusive surrogate father who will never be there for you because he wasn’t there to begin with. Tidings, blessings.
The only sad soul is the soul of the one who wrote this ”article”. Some people are so sad they cannot stand to see other people happy. Mel and Rosalind are both adults, aware of what they are doing. They are enjoying their relationship and their life to the fullest and now they are about to become parents. They dont care what you guys think of them. They dont even know that you exist, so go do something productive with your lives.
