Here are some photos of Pierre Casiraghi and his wife Beatrice at the Yacht Club of Monaco over the weekend. Pierre looks… different. Hotter. I always thought he had such a fey, almost pretty look about him, but nowadays, he’s looking nice. The beard is really helping, plus he looks “filled out.” Those arms!! Pierre and his team competed in the Monaco Sportsboat Winter Series, because that’s something rich, almost royal people do. I’m actually a little bit surprised that Pierre’s mother Princess Caroline lets him race boats, considering that’s how Pierre’s father died.
Anyway, as I said, Pierre’s bride was there too. Beatrice and Pierre married last year, in Monaco and in Italy, in what was seen by many as a merger of two grand European families. Beatrice is especially well-connected and rich, and Pierre is the nephew of the sovereign Prince of Monaco. Money, money, money. And connections. And now the two families will be even more connected, because Beatrice is knocked up.
A royal baby is on the way! Monaco’s Pierre Casiraghi and his wife Beatrice Borromeo are expecting their first baby, according to numerous European sources. While the Monaco palace isn’t commenting on the happy news, a very pregnant-looking Borromeo was spotted recently in New York’s LaGuardia Airport alongside her husband, who is 7th in line of Monaco’s succession. Borromeo is reportedly due in early 2017.
The royal baby will be the fourth grandchild for Princess Caroline, who happily celebrated her grandson’s lavish wedding to the Italian heiress in July 2015. Earlier this year, Borromeo told Glamour magazine that she wanted to start a family while continuing to concentrate on her professional career as a journalist.
Caroline’s fourth grandchild… I forgot that Andrea (the oldest) has two kids now. Charlotte just has the one son. I do like that Pierre and Beatrice seemingly waited a year to start their family – they settled into married life, and there was probably no pressure on them. I’m not even sure where they live? I think Charlotte lives for the most part in Paris, but Pierre and Beatrice might live in Monte Carlo? I don’t know. Anyway, babies!
Also: judging from this photo of Beatrice over the weekend, I don’t think she’s that far along. “Due in early 2017” my ass. She’s probably due in the spring.

The extra bit of weight agrees with him. He wasn’t born with the crazy bone structure his brother and sister were, but he also doesn’t have the same extremes as Andrea.

Pretty men (in my opinion) frequently don’t age well. Look at men who were spectacularly pretty early on – Andrea casiraghi, Leo DiCaprio, even Hayden Christiansen – it somehow doesn’t last.

Andrea is so skinny and unhealthy looking. He smokes a lot and I want to refrain from being snide because I honestly wonder about his health. It’s so apparent that something is going on.

Maybe they divide the year into three parts: Early (Jan-April), Mid (May-Aug) and Late (Sept-Dec). So “early 2017” could mean a March or April baby. Based on that picture I’d say she’s probably four, possibly early five months along which is the right timing. She’s young, this is her first and she’s in great shape, so she wouldn’t show very much. Congratulations to them!
According to Italian Chi! magazine she is due in January.

Honk! She’s actually a really fascinating person. I recently read this great interview with her, where she talks about the importance of her professional life and how fashion doesn’t “make” her (http://www.glamour.com/story/beatrice-borromeo-interview-in-glamour-pictures-of-her-style). This was my favorite quote: “I’m not going to put half of my salary into a pair of shoes. I did it a few times in my life, and it doesn’t feel right. You can wear Zara and nothing bad is going to happen to you.” I actually said that to myself, while IN Zara this weekend, and thought, “Right on, Beatrice. Right on.”
Granted, this is a woman that wore a Valentino wedding dress. Which costs a significant portion of a year’s salary for most people.
Wow! I didn’t know she was so involved in social activism. Thanks for sharing that article, it is refreshing to see and aristocrat and now a royal woman to be that articulate and focus in other things besides her own image.
