Maybe some people won’t remember this, but Republicans regularly threw hissy fits over the cost of Secret Service agents detailed to Michelle Obama whenever she was out of the White House. Whenever she traveled – especially internationally – the GOP delighted in regaling the country with the “excessive” taxpayer cost of protecting the president’s wife. I doubt the GOP will be concerned about this though – reportedly, Melania Trump will not be moving into the White House. She’s going to stay in New York with Barron so he can attend the same school, at least for the end of the school year. Do you know how much this will cost? Do you know the strain on Secret Service resources?
Future First Lady Melania Trump and son Barron will not be moving to the White House after Donald Trump’s inauguration in January, The Post has learned. The president-elect’s 46-year-old wife and their 10-year-old son are staying put at the family’s glitzy Trump Tower penthouse so that Barron can continue attending his Upper West Side private school, sources told The Post.
“Melania is extremely close to Barron, and they have become closer during the campaign,” said a source close to Trump’s transition team. “The campaign has been difficult for Barron, and she is really hoping to keep disruption to a minimum.”
Another source said Melania Trump will travel to the White House as needed, but that her primary focus is on Barron.
“Melania is very supportive of her husband and is fully on board of doing everything that’s needed as first lady,” said the second source familiar with the Trump transition. That source said also that there is a possibility that Melania and Barron may move to the White House at the end of the school year, but no plans are in place.
“She is really devoted to Barron,” said a source close to the family, adding that Melania has not relied on nannies to raise the child and is frequently seen picking the fourth-grader up from his prep school, where tuition is north of $40,000. The decision to remain in their Midtown home will increase the security presence around Trump Tower — an effort that will involve both Secret Service and the NYPD, an expert familiar with high-level security told The Post.
“That building is going to become the White House of New York,” said Jim Reese, a former Delta Force commander and president of TigerSwan, a global security company based in North Carolina. “The Secret Service is going to have to keep that whole area cordoned off so that some wacko can’t get close and detonate a car bomb.”
Strict security measures around Trump Tower will remain in place, with two of the five lanes on Fifth Avenue between West 56th and 57th streets closed because of barriers, said officials at a joint NYPD, Secret Service and City Hall news conference Friday. Following the presidential election, the area around Trump Tower has turned into a traffic nightmare, with West 56th Street closed to traffic between Fifth and Madison avenues, and shoppers having to go through a security cordon and subject to bag checks. Barron and Melania will each have an unknown number of Secret Service agents assigned to them in addition to a driver and armored vehicle to take Barron to school, Reese said. An advance team of agents will swoop down on the school each morning to make sure it’s safe, he added.
I eagerly await all of the penny-pinching Republican Congressmen’s statements about how this cannot happen, that the costs are too excessive and the whole plan is just too unreasonable. While I do have sympathy for Barron in particular – he seems like a sensitive kid who is probably not close to his father at all – this plan is completely ridiculous, and the costs are too excessive.
So, what else is going on in Trump’s America? Well, Queen Elizabeth II is set to invite the Trumps to Windsor Castle next summer, likely June or July. Trump’s British BFF Nigel Farage says that Trump is “looking forward” to the trip because Trump is a “massive anglophile.”
Oh, and Trump is still angry-tweeting about Saturday Night Live. This weekend’s episode was kind of mundane, but Alec Baldwin returned to play Trump, and this was the cold open:

I can understand her seeing a way to distance her self and her son from…him. However, like her husband, she is heedless of the consequences to her fellow citizens. Their sense of responsibility to others begins and ends with their own needs.

I think we will here SO SO much about it. DiBlasio needs re-election, and he knows that most people in NYC hate Trump, and most people also hate him. He’s got a great opportunity to show that he can take a hardline on something, and make a symbolic gesture (no matter how ultimately insignificant) to challenge the (completely true) belief that he is bought and paid for by the real estate industry.
Plus, don’t mess with New Yorkers trying to get around the city. Between Trump and the second avenue subway, the East side is going to be a special circle of hell, and people will want to blame Trump.

The issue isn’t the security it’s the impact on the locals. They can pay however security guards they want but that’s not going to give those stores back their lost revenue.

The city’s been a nightmare to get around since Bloomberg put all the goddamn pedestrian malls and bike lanes all over…NYC is NOT a quaint town that can support these. Now, one of the few avenues (Fifth) left (with no obstructions) is obstructed. 57th Street is a major crosstown street. It’s bad enough with all the massive construction of massive buildings…now, it’s virtually impossible to cross. Buses are rerouted up to 20 blocks off their routes. Yes, cab fares have tripled from, already, exorbitant prices. Then, all the streets being blocked off every time any of them move around the City…

Yes, but people like the idea of pedestrianizing. I hate citibikes so so so much, but it allows New Yorkers to buy into the notion that riding a bike will negate their MASSIVE seamless landfill contribution and reduce their carbon footprint. My son is autistic and goes to a private school for autism. I interact with the kids a lot. There really isn’t a specific look or that Autism = vacant or no smiles. It is a spectrum and has many different visual cues. Every kid is different. The other day someone thought my son was deaf because when he speaks it has a different sound than normal speech. To that person he didn’t look autistic.
I am not sure if their son is or not but that is really their choice to disclose or not. He seems very overwhelmed by everything whenever I have seen him.
Please have some human decency and don’t speculate on whether a 10 YEAR OLD CHILD has learning disabilities or not. There’s access to the stores on 57th and Tiffany’s 57th Street entrance. It’s Fifth Avenue that’s the problem… no access at all. Foot traffic is not, entirely, impeded along 57th. Tiffany’s is one of the most crowded stores at X-mas… crowded with tourists who spend the bare minimum to carry a tiny turquoise bag (although, I don’t understand it, since Tiffany’s is everywhere). If anything, I think, Tiffany’s will profit from tourists making the pilgrimage to Trump Dump. Small businesses and restaurants might suffer.

Yes people want to go in and get a little bag but the kind of high end customers that want to spend serious money aren’t going to go through that mess when they can stay in another part of town and shop without security. Gridlock alert for the holiday season was this past Friday, this will make traveling to and around the city MUCH more of a pain in the ass. I love the city during the holidays with the store windows decorations which have been canceled by Tiffany’s. I wonder how all those high end businesses will be affected? I do live in the same neighborhood as the school. No, I will not name it. It is going to be an absolute nightmare. It’s on a narrow, one-way street, in a residential neighborhood, with a large public school a block away. School drop-off and pick-up times are already a congested mess under the best of circumstances. A daily Secret Service presence will bring the neighborhood to a complete standstill. Every single school day.
And don’t get me started on the cost to taxpayers. The GOP bitched and moaned when the Obamas came to NYC for a single date night, costing the tax payers $65,000. I can’t fathom what this set up will cost, particularly if DJT is commuting back and forth regularly. It will run into the tens of millions of dollars per year.
And no, he’s not going to be impeached. Legally, there will certainly be a case for it. But politically, the GOP controlled Congress will not do it. They might hold the threat over his head to get what they want sometimes, but impeachment is not going to actually happen.
It won’t happen until after midterms if Dems can overcome the gerrymandering. It also depends on how badly DT screws up his first term. Supporting impeachment may be the only way for Republicans to repudiate Trump’s policies.
The GOP hates him, he’s volatile, unpredictable, and a huge mess. They’ll put up with him for a while, because they have to. But, yeah, they’ll impeach him as soon as they can and replace him with Pence who they love.
McCain and a few others may find their backbones, but not the ones who hold the levers – Chaffetz will not hold hearings on Trump’s business practices until he is forced to by Ryan (and that’s the first step). Ryan will not order Chaffetz to do it, not unless Trump threatens him or his political career.
Oh the republican’s won’t complain about it. They’ll just find another reason to support it, even if it’s directly opposite to what they have said in the past. After all they did that the whole campaign.

As much as I love Obama, I wish trump could get started. I feel like the earlier he starts the sooner the honeymoon will be over. I haven’t heard him decline the health care. Nor have I heard whether that $400,000 is going back into the general fund or whether he is simply diverting it elsewhere. Romney made a big stink about how he wasn’t accepting his gubernatorial salary in MA but he did not put the money back into the general fund where it could be used to fund state programs. Instead, he used it to pay really high salaries to his cronies. And he kept the health care and other perks. He also rarely showed up for work, going whole months when neither he or his lieutenant governor, who did the same with her salary, were even in the state.
IMO by not taking the salary it’s one more reason that Trump thinks he then doesn’t have to play by the rules. Doesn’t have to live at the White House, can still run his business (mostly because the scrutiny in NYC will be a whole of a lot less than in DC), etc. I get not moving to DC until school is out. But at that point there is no reason not to move. Again, gives Trump another reason not to live in the White House (he wants to be with his family). AND PLEASE, no nannies? Yeah, right.
Rick Scott (governor of FL) takes only $1 / month salary as that is the least he can draw. And he has cost me 12% of my paycheck working for the FL education system. I used to get a 6% contribution to my pension fund, he did away with that and charges me the 6% contribution to the pension fund, but it doesn’t go into the pension fund – it goes into the general operating fund. So, essentially, a tax. Florida doesn’t have an income tax…well, except apparently for employees of the state. If you aren’t paid by the people you work for WHO are you responsible to.?
Also, legally, Trump can NOT refuse the salary of the United States President without having a new law passed allowing him to do so. He can, of course, donate the amount to charity, or return it to the Treasury. Kennedy donated his congressional AND Presidential salary to charity, as did Hoover. Obama returned part of his salary to the Treasury.
Of course, we all know how great Trump is about following through with promises to charity. Not to mention disclosing his tax returns.
Look, we all know the salary for the president is not so support him/her, but to remind them that they are doing a JOB. So I think it’s foolish of him to spout off about not accepting the salary.
Considering they’re the same party who complained about Obama being “inexperienced” and “a celebrity” and then they turned around and elected Trump, I have no doubt they will find some twisted way to justify this.

And while that is all true, this is a kid. I have a kid about the same age. Let’s always leave the kids alone. Who knows, Melania may actually be a good mom and be putting her foot down.
They should have had a plan for this that didn’t involve costing everyone else money . The economy on 5th Ave is probably larger then many small cities. In the grand scale of things it’s one 10 yr old vs the people that work in the area. The kids that work at the Starbucks , Gap, H&M etc that barely make minimum wage that face layoffs. The boutiques, salons, spas, etc that pay insane rents but can’t get any foot traffic . The sales people who work entirely on commission that won’t make half of what they usually do. The NYPD that’s stationed on 5th avenue on NYC’s dime when they could be in more dangerous neighborhoods. Let them go to Mar a lago.
I know, I know, it’s not ideal… but at the same time …. Washington DC is a city with private schools amply prepared to educate and protect the children of the ruling class, and the children of presidents, VPs, Cabinet secretaries, etc. have dealt with this and gone on with their lives. Children across America have suffered great disruptions and privation as a result of Republican policies, and lost parents in Republican wars. Barron is old enough to be taught that sometimes we have to make changes as a result of daddy’s or mommy’s job and he will adjust and make new friends, and that if they stay in New York it’s going to be a big mess for everybody and mommy and daddy care about that, too.
Instead, what he’ll learn is that he must be sheltered at all costs and that his comfort and convenience come first above thousands of other people. And as I see from the comment below, if they really cared about him, DT didn’t have to run. This kid is going to cause problems for thousands of innocent people. What if somebody has a heart attack in that area and the ambulance cannot get through? His parents should have considered all of this before they sought the job with “relocation required, constant travel necessary.” The father should withdraw if he can’t move the kid.

As an Army kid I went to eleven different schools in twelve years. It’s what you do when your parent is serving the nation. I loved it-new places, new people.

I see no reason why this kid should get the special treatment at the taxpayer’s expense, when that one didn’t.

I work in early intervention as an ABA therapist for babies with autism and they need routine and structure. To yank Barron out of school and uproot him to a different city, home and school all at the same time could be very upsetting and regression could occur; off setting the progress he made. My heart goes out to the kid.
I don’t believe he has autism.I have seen him during several interviews on entertainment shows including Extra and ET .He maintained eye contact with the interviewer,he even answered a question or two on Extra.

I have no idea how these crazy rumors start. I worked as a behavioral therapist for children with autism for years, and I have seen zero outward signs he may have autism. Of course, you cannot always tell from simple observation, but there is nothing immediately apparent in his behavior that would support the silly speculation.
And if Obama had done with Sasha and Malia what Dump is doing with Baron re: schooling, there would have been major hell to pay. I feel like the worst that Agent Orange is getting is a mild side eye from Washington.

It’s a nightmare in NYC. Even as is right now there are barricades not only at Trump Towers but Trump International just north of Columbus Circle with NYPD cops stationed there. These are major congestion points without him around . 5th avenue is a major commercial hub especially at Christmas when high end retailers create stunning Christmas decorations (Bergdoff, Tiffanys, Sacks). The Towers are a 5 minute walk from the Rockefeller Center Tree. Walking down 5th avenue in December is a nightmare without the added security . If he had any decency they’d move to Mar a lago and stop affecting the thousands of people who work in that area because besides the Towers its predominantly a shopping district.
She didn’t think American’s were stupid enough to vote for her husband. And she is not prepared to make any “sacrifice” like changing his school to live in the White House. You can forget about her ever sending that kid into the military to possibly die for his country. She will move in at her convenience. She knows she can have her cake and eat it too.

Since NYC is primary democratic = yeah, I’d want to get my kid to where SS knows what they are doing. And the political climate is more welcoming. Certainly the private schools in DC are “on board” with politician’s children of both parties.

They knew the deal when they ran. Yes, I too thought (hoped/prayed) it would never come to pass, but this is the deal. The President, and his immediate family, live in the White House, full-time. If they’d said they were getting tutors, keeping Melania and Barron out of the public spotlight (no public events or appearances) … That’s all well and fine and I’d 100% support her “parenting choice” to do that, even if it’s not exactly the norm for a First Family.
But that’s the problem … What they’re saying they will do is NOT a parenting choice. It’s putting the lives and livelihoods of MANY others at risk for their own, singular comfort; Which is literally the exact opposite of what any elected official is supposed to do.

Regarding Mar a Lago Years ago I lived in South Florida and read a lot about the history of the area. I used to pass by Mar a Lago quite a bit, this was in the 80s before the pu$$y-grabber bought it. It had been owned by cereal heiress Marjorie Merriweather Post and when she died in the 70s she willed it to the US government to be used as a presidential retreat. If I remember correctly the Secret Service checked it out and said no thanks. It is just down the road from Palm Beach International Airport and directly in the flight path. The Secret Service deemed it unsafe and said security would be a nightmare. So it was deeded back to the Post estate until the p-grabber bought it. In fact when he married the future First Pu$$y at Mar a Lago there was a big fuss because he wanted a huge fireworks display and permission was denied because of the flight path…I think he wanted them to re-route the planes and they refused.
Now when he visits will be a security nightmare not to mention a disruption of air traffic and we taxpayers will foot the bill.

That’s all really interesting, I still hold that whatever the issue for Marlago its better suited than midtown Manhattan for the needs of securing a First Family. We’ve got airspace issues, we’ve got major parades that would have to be rerouted , we’ve got a couple of subway hubs, we’e got a major traffic thoroughfare, we’ve got flagship stores that attract international tourists. If you’ve never walked down fifth avenue in December you really can’t conceive of how selfish of a decision this is.

Actually, Hillary won Palm Beach county. As well as Broward & Miami-Dade. SE FL is heavily democratic. She also won counties around Jacksonville, Orlando, & Tampa. The sad fact is that the rest of the “red” counties came in strong. The normal “blue” counties did not get out enough of the base. As an “independent” voter who volunteered for her campaign …. The troops weren’t that well organized.
To me this is a big deal. When was the last time a President’s school-age child and wife did not relocate with him to the White House after assuming office? And how awful for the secret service and New Yorkers.
And not a word on this to be found on the Faux News website. Several months of basically having 2 home bases for the First Family is definitely going to be costly.

I neither endorse, nor put any credence, into any rumors about a child. My issue is that “mom and dad” are now public servants and, as such, now have public responsibilities that outweigh personal desires. You don’t get to pick and choose the parts of the job you enjoy — the power and adulation — and abandon those you find awkward and tedious. You wanted the job, now you have to do it. ALL of it. And it’s not all fun, or easy or convenient. That’s why running for President isn’t required of all American citizens.

Well, I’m empathetic to the security issue and costs, but, I really don’t give a crap what the wife/husband of any politician does.
I really don’t understand why the spouse of head of state becomes some sort of indentured servant of the state as well. So far it’s always been a woman. A woman that no one actually votes for. I get that there are “hostess” type duties that need to be performed but can’t we leave this to the professional event planners and interior designers who really do the work anyway and stop reinforcing the helpful wifey stereotype?

If this was about Mrs Trump choosing not to attend a State Dinner or other matter of protocol, than I’d agree wholeheartedly that she wasn’t the one elected and, even if outside of norms, that refusal is a non-story. Instead, this is about immense financial strain, both on taxpayer money, and general commerce in one of the world’s largest commercial centers. Not to mention personal hardship for the NYPD, the million or so Americans who live in the immediate vicinity of Trump Tower, the hundreds of millions who fly through the NYC-area airports annually … And on and on. Washington, D.C. and the White House were literally DESIGNED with the protection of the President and his family in mind. That they live there is not just some archaic symbolism; it’s a practical, functional reality that allows individuals to balance the 24/7 job of the Presidency, with protecting the First Family. It’s the height of selfish entitlement to believe that the Trump family’s personal desires supersede the good of an entire city, or nation. That they don’t gave a flying flip about anyone else is exactly the problem with a Trump Presidency in a nutshell.

It’s not Secret Service costs. It’s the costs to the municipality of NYC. Revenue lost by local businesses. Wages lost by workers that depend on commissions. It costs the Port Authority 100,000 $ just to shut down the airspace for one Presidential visit and Trump’s planning on doing that every weekend GMAFB.
The body language between Trump and Barron says it all. The poor kid literally looks like he can’t stand being touched. No eye contact, no smiling, nothing. Many people with experience in LD (learning disabilities) as teachers, therapists, etc. have commented that he could very well be autistic, which would explain Trump’s wackdoodle anti-vaxxer stance. Moving would be extremely traumatic for Barron. Just another reason to loathe his father – putting an autistic child through that sort of gong show indicates yet again what a selfish, narcissistic prick he is.

Ryan’s “health plan,” which Trump will sign cuts significant funding for Boston Medical Center, Mass General, Brigham & Women’s, Dana Farber, Mass Eye & Ear, Children’s, Beth Israel-Deaconess, Tufts Medical, BayState Medical, and UMass Medical. Our hospitals are some of our largest employers. Not to mention most of these are internationally famous teaching and research hospitals – Ryan is planning to screw the health care future for everyone. And Baker, whose background is in health care, remains silent.

I can sympathise up to a point with Melania not wanting to uproot her son during a school year. The Obamas will be staying on in Washington so their youngest can finish school.
However I think there is probably more to it than this. It just seems to reinforce the view that Trump never expected to win and wasn’t prepared for being president. It may also be a reflection on the separate lives most people think the Trumps lead.
My real sympathies are with the citizens of New York who are having to live with the increased security and with the US taxpayers who will be funding it all.
I understand the argument of “being a mother first” and “easing the transition for your child.” As a parent, I get that. However, an opportunity to teach Barron – about the bigger picture, about how our actions affect others like a ripple in a pond, about how sometimes you have to sacrifice your own needs and wants for the greater good – is being lost with his staying in New York. We should all be teaching our children this, and I am disappointed when someone wants to be a leader but then does not set the example that a leader should.

From what posters are writing, it sounds as though NYC is already a mess before factoring in the Trumps. If the parents feel it is in his best interests to finish the school year there, let’s have compassion for the little boy.

Except it wasn’t necessary to write the same for the Obama girls. Their parents understood the responsibilities of the job they signed up for.
The Obamas also discussed the whole thing as a family before Obama ran for President. The whole family was on board with it and knew what would happen if he won. In contrast, Melania clearly didn’t want to be FLOTUS and thought the whole idea of Donald running was bad. I doubt the child was consulted at all.
Plus Donald himself absolutely did not expect to win. He was shocked and still is. He had no plan for transition, hence the chaos of people falling all over themselves to get jobs in his Administration. Donald had never planned to live in the a White House. Ever. He and his campaign people didn’t bother finding out anything relevant for the transition. Usually candidates start making contingency plans s at least a year in advance. There is even an organization that helps with such planning, by nobody contacted them.
Have you been to NYC? Fifth avenue is congested and traffic is a ‘mess’ because people, tourists from all over the world are shopping. Spending millions of dollars on luxury items. Looking at famous X-mas displays at Rockefeller Centre, Bergdorffs, Tiffanys, spending money at Hotels, restaurants, jewelry stores, salons, etc all within walking distance of Trump Towers are now at a standstill because everybody needs to have compassion for one 10 year old. Drumpf is supposed to be everyone’s president and actually do things to I-M-P-R-O-V-E the economy not derail the local businesses to suit one child’s needs.

Trump flew home on his private jet every night during the campaign. He never once stayed on the road during campaigning. He liked being at his penthouse at night. I don’t see him living full time in the White House. I read that maybe he would stay there during the week and fly back to NYC for the weekends. I don’t think the only problem is Melania for the rest of the school year. Does anyone really believe Trump will live in the White House full time? I don’t.

The whole floor for the kid seems like a protective measure. I think Melania spends a lot of time there also. Look up “narcissistic parents” sometime and read about the horror show they provide for their kids. Remember the second debate? I haven’t said a word about his mental or developmental status. You’re the one that harps on that, refusing to defend or condemn the ridiculous plan to keep him in NY at great expense to taxpayers and great inconvenience to New Yorkers. He’s no more special than any other child who has to move because of a parent’s job. And that’s what this thread is about if you look at the title of it.
There are over 300 replies on this thread with a small minority related to your favored topic. Address those posters instead of the majority talking about the main issue.

Yeah well , I think it’s very weird and strange for Melania and her son Barron to stay in New York and not move into the white house. What kind of first Lady does that. She thinks she is better than everyone else. Michelle Obama is a good mother as well as a great First Lady , so who does Melania think she is that she uses her son as an excuse to not move to the White House after Donald is sworn in as President. What a snob, go back to your country Melania, and learn some manners as well as take a class to learn English. No U.S. Presidents wife has ever said they were not moving to the White House. What is the real reason Melania doesn’t want to move to the White House?? I think she is only with Donald for the money and social status.
Truman’s wife spent most of her time in Missouri. She was very uncomfortable in DC.
well that was more than 50 years ago at least – we have had presidents after truman so i think ford/reagan/bush/bush/clinton/ike/kennedy/nixon/carter and pres obama all managed to live in the white house for most of the time. and both sasha and malia were around the same age as barron trump and funnily enough they do have schools in washington dc

I apologize if someone already wrote this, but IF and when she moves to the White House, I can only begin to imagine the redecorating with all the gold leaf and naked cherubs and crappy art and faux Louis XVI furniture they will want the taxpayers to foot the bill for. . .
Amy Carter was 9 when her father won. The family moved from Georgia, and she attended public schools in DC. How things change.
I hope Melania and Barron live anywhere but the White House. Donald is dangerous in so many ways. Being trapped with him in a relatively small space is a very bad idea especially when he’s under so much stress. We have no idea what Barron’s needs are or what he and his mother have experienced with The Donald. If Melania wants to keep her child in NYC for now, so be it.
I’m tired of the twofer concept for POTUS and FLOTUS. Why should a woman be kept hostage for four years when she didn’t even agree to her husband running for President? The spouse of a President should be allowed to live a separate life. It’s just wrong to force her to be something she doesn’t want to be. If the government wants to have such costly protection for her, that’s just the cost of operating the government. Same with the costs of travel for the President and family. Suck it up yourself, people. Keeping them all sequestered in the White House is wrong. If we were talking about restrictions on a woman in Saudi Arabia, the response would be different.
The argument that non-rich kids have to suck it up and follow their crazy dangerous parent anywhere is irrelevant. You don’t refuse medical care to your child because so many children lack it. You don’t refuse to send them to good schools if you can afford it because so many other children are stuck in bad ones. You do want you can with what you have.
Buy a dozen fewer weapons of mass destruction to pay for the extra protection costs. Really, our government wastes so much money on destructive things, the cost of protecting the President’s wife and child outside the White House is a drop in the bucket in comparison. They will have to figure out how to minimize disruption around the building and if a move to Florida is better. I would say that they need to rethink real security needs. But keeping Donald far, far away from his family is a Good Idea.
Divorce him then. There are surely plenty of secrets Melania can hold over him. Take one of the estates outside NYC and be protected. donald can then grab pu$$y in the WH. Everybody’s happy.
Regarding your third paragraph, have the trumps stated that they will cover ALL the costs of their staying in NY? I don’t think so.

Melania will never divorce trump – she can’t and won’t – the man is unpredictable and will make sure her son is taken away from her – he is that type.
Marla managed to get away with Tiffany. Melania may be in a stronger position than she was six months ago. She must know some dirt on him that he and his handlers don’t want coming out at this point. May be a bargaining chip.
Isn’t is expected for her to do First Lady duties? I saw above someone said Lady Truman spent little time in DC, but did she do events, charities, duties meeting with dignitaries etc? Has there also ever been a president who spent little time in the white house? This sounds more and more like a disaster each day that transpires..
It is a disaster – the new york mayor has said that they will be spending 1 million dollars per day for trump and wants the fed govt to heltp them out – not to mention the inconvenience of having streets blocked for the next 4 years – whether she agreed or not she is the first lady – so does mean she can just stroll in when she feels like it? and also she is planning on renovating the wh with her own designer? why wd she do that if she isnt going to be there for a while. All i can say is that if Mrs Obama had done this they wd have been non stop insults but because she has 1 kid everyone is giving her a pass. All Presidents have been in the WH esp in the modern era now the trumps want to be different?
The First Lady bit has been handled by daughters and nieces in the past but those presidential wives who chose to live elsewhere did not choose to live on top of a tower smack in the middle of one of the busiest neighborhoods of one of the world’s largest cities. Even most presidential homes tend to not be smack in the middle of a major city.
