Here are some photos of Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Pratt in Paris yesterday for the photocall for Passengers, the film that everyone hopes will be some kind of huge (bigly) success. I wouldn’t have cared about these photos at all, except that I became strangely enchanted by Jennifer Lawrence’s Dior ensemble. I have a long history of hating on the current direction of Dior – I think Raf Simons did very little to advance the label, and the current lines are just really boring. But this look? It’s making me very happy. It’s twee and seasonal and kind of cloying. And yet… I still like it. I think it’s because I love a really cute knit, and this sweater is THE BOMB. It’s got a great cut, it’s a flattering color, and the star is beautiful. I would wear the hell out of this sweater! The skirt is… okay. I accept the skirt because the sweater is so cute.
Meanwhile, J-Law also did a video interview with Vanity Fair as part of her December cover story (which I covered last week). Most of the answers are typical J-Law, but there’s one answer that sort of goes off the rails.
When asked about her biggest fear, she said: “My biggest irrational, hopefully, fear is that the Zika virus is going to be the solution to overpopulation. I don’t know, if you’ve ever read the Kurt Vonnegut short story where everyone has to take these pills that make your private parts feel like wet sponges and then nobody can have sex and no one can procreate. And so by the time I’m older and I’m like, ‘I think I want to be a mother,’ they’re like, ‘You can’t. Your private part feels like a sponge.’” That’s such a weird and weirdly specific fear. It’s not a general fear of “I won’t be fertile long enough to get around to having a baby.” It’s a fear of a virus that will specifically target your reproductive system. Is this a J-Law affectation? That’s the thing, I don’t believe she is saying this to show everyone how cute and weird she is. I think she really does get neurotic about those kinds of worse-case-scenarios.

I am in love with that sweater. It would look great with everything!
I love it too, I’m tempted to try and find a knock-off / imitation version to buy. Mind you, I’m fussy with sweaters because I can’t stand anything itchy…but still! I want it, or a cheaper version of it.
I love the whole ensemble. It’s a cool combo of fancy and not-so-fancy, whimsical but kinda grunge at the same time.
I’m into it.
Same, the whole outfit is absolutely magic. She looks like a grunge princess and she’s breathtaking.
Love the sweater and I would love the skirt if it weren’t see through. Is that fad ever going to end?
Her hair and make up are great in these photos.
I like it too, tho’ I’d arrange the see through bit to be quite a bit shorter and the slip quite a bit longer!
Love this combo! She looks cute in it. The Etoile text is a bit redundant and clearly ‘borrowed from Isabel Marant, but I’d love to own the ensemble.
Wasn’t Keanu Reeves attached to this film for years? It was meant to be a relatively small budget film.
i would have liked the skirt more if it would have been lined…. but yes, that sweater is adorable.
Yesss-please line that skirt, but I love that sweater.
Agreed. It’s adorable, but the skirt is desperate for lining. Or at least don’t wear granny panties under it.
Me too. I’m over the sheer look.
I wonder what Jen thinks about the whole Chris/Anna/Dog thing. Jen seems to really love her dog and takes it everywhere.
Exactly, @Caitlin Bruce!
I bet she’s not okay with “regular” people doing that, but since he and his wife are colleagues/friends with her, then she’s pretending she knows nothing about it. I wish people would ask her that on the red carpet and at press junkets!
I mean….he’s a coworker–what is she supposed to say?
It would hardly be professional to trash someone you work with at a press junket.
The only person that needs to be asked about that is Chris. Why should JLaw be asked about the private lives and personal behavior of someone she worked with? So she can give answer that doesn’t satisfy every single person that reads it, be dragged for it, have it get made into a story that she then has to apologize for? Would like to asked about the the questionable personal business of your colleagues?
That is Chris and Anna’s mess, let them clean it up.
I gave him a pass on the cat give away because sometimes people have to give up their pets. Years ago I had to give up my precious little kitten Scar for two reasons, first the doctor said that my son who was just a baby might be allergic to it and the place that I was moving to wouldn’t allow me to have pets.
But this dog thing with Anna and Chris has me on the fence. I really don’t think these two are animals lovers, they just seem to discard a pet after they grow tired of it. I know Chris seems to take a lot of the blame on C/B about the animal but what about Anna? People sees it as Chris’ fault and not hers. I still like Chris as an actor I just don’t like his way with animals.
Oh and back on topic that outfit she is wearing is hideous. She’s attempting to be cute and different but it’s a major fail. And it’s not my lack of coffee this morning after seeing the preview for Passengers Jen and Chris do look like they could be brother and sister.
Last time I saw her carrying her dog through the airport she was wearing a shearling jacket and leather shoes though, so…
She’s the star of a movie, wearing a shirt that says The Star, with a giant star on it.
I do not like this look, much too far past my twee limit.
I like Chris Pratts jacket, but I do not like him. I’m pretty sure I’m going to pass on Passengers.
It’s gonna be Moana or Dr strange for the next movie viewing.
I don’t like Cumberbatch, yet I did like Dr. Strange… strange! Moana is on my to-see list too!
You couldn’t pay me to see Passengers though, it sounds a completely useless film and it’s not even funny. Plus Pratt is in it, so it’s no-no-no-no……. I don’t like the idea of giving money to him and his wife (nor that he would care…)
That a major hold up for me too.
I don’t know if I can stomach his douchenozzle smile.
My partner is very much ‘separate the artist from the art’. I have a really hard time with that.
It could be that’ it’s early and I haven’t had my coffee yet but Jennifer and Pratt looks like brother and sister in that pic.
Speaking of movies Trolls were really good. I also saw Loving.
Oh, how was Loving?
And they do look very related, older brother and younger sister almost.
Loving was a decent film. The acting seemed casual, meaning, not overacting or a lot of heavy lines. I think they intentionally did it that way because they say that’s how the couple really were. They didn’t yell or express their emotions by being overly dramatic with crying and so on. They also didn’t go into any of the civil rights agenda that was going on during that time. They just focused on the couple and their journey. I enjoyed the film.
As for Trolls, I think Timberlake does some of his best acting when you can’t see his face. LOL….
I think the whole outfit is awful. Wtf. Someone at Dior hates her. And does she look tweaked or just weird makeup?
I can get behind the sweater for casual outings, say with jeans and some nice boots, but not for this.
And her makeup is really hit or miss, I think its that over tweaking. Its not Penelope Cruz level tweaked if she had work done, so I prob wouldn’t catch it.
This outfit is awful! Is she even wearing a bra? Everything about her looks like she rolled out of bed five minutes after the car showed up and didn’t bother to change. It doesn’t fit and it’s not cute.
Love the sweater. Would be on board with the skirt as well if it weren’t completely see-through.
That’s my assessment, too. Not a fan of the granny panties showing through. Her hair and makeup is really lovely, too. She makes me feel so old and haggard, lol.
Pratt, on the other hand, does nothing for me. I used to find him so endearing as Andy on Parks and Rec. Now he just leaves me cold.
Now maybe people will FINALLY see the doucheface that I’ve been seeing for the past 5 years. He’s so unattractive to me.
Ha, Kitten, I do. I have seen the light, finally. Totally off topic but I have been bingeing my way through The Leftovers, on your and some other CBers advice. I’m about halfway through Season 2. So dark and messed up, so mesmerizing. A great momentary distraction from all things Trump.
Shorter skirt showing off some great metallic heels and I would totally steal the look!
I agree love the outfit but not crazy about the sheerness of the skirt.
Yes because they finally got rid of Raf Simons’s horrible designs
I don’t like the entire look together mostly because I cannot stand twee looks and it’s not really her style either. I don’t know the skirt and top don’t “go” for me.
And yes JLaw seems neurotic about certain things and goes to 100 very easily. The other answer that goes off the rails for me is ones about her drinking habits…that’s no longer cute
See I like both parts separately, even the pizza skirt, but I don’t know about wearing a fairly casual sweater with a tulle ball gown of the same color. I want to like it but also find it jarring. The sweater would also benefit from having the random French word on her belly button removed.
I know what you mean, but I like the pairing of two such different pieces. It reminds me of when Sharon Stone did that at the Oscars years ago with her couture skirt and Gap t-shirt.
I’s not random, it means “star”
Help me out here — “pizza” skirt?
The placement is random. If it says star, it’s also redundant.
“Pizza” is a term the Fug girls use interchangeably with sheer dresses and skirts because they are so ubiquitous these days they got sick of saying the word sheer. They made it up a few years ago. I can’t believe this sheer trend is still alive.
Random as in being exactly at the bottom and equally distant from the side seams? By this logic any given decoration on any piece of clothing has random placing.
As far as the meaning goes, it actually says “the star” (L’etoile), therefore to me it does not read as a caption for the sweater theme but more as a reference to Jennifer being the star of the movie.
This said I don’t particularly like the sweater nor the skirt, much less the entire outfit.
I like the look, festive. She normally has good red carpet style.
I’m feeling the skirt more than the sweater strangely enough but I love the whole ensemble. I’m also liking her makeup although I wish she’d done something more with her hair.
Love the sweater. The skirt reminds me of Frozen, but it’s cute in a quirky way.
And as much as I love Jennifer, I’m skipping this flick and any future Chris Pratt films. Screw that animal hater.
I love this whole outfit. Even the see-through skirt because it’s cute see-through instead of the usual black lace see-through.
I think it’s cute and beautiful. I wish I had somewhere to wear something like that.
As for the Zika virus, it would have been a weird but funny comment if it wasn’t for all the children and families who are never going to have a normal life because of it; the pics of the babies are heart-breaking.
It’s a cute crazy weird outfit.
It looks cheap and tween-ish.
totally – like something you could find at Forever 21 or something.
Thank you! It’s like she just walks off a Seventeen magazine photoshoot.
I want the whole outfit. It’s the whole Elsa/PJ Sparkles vibe I WANT.
I really like Jennifer and find her talented, but after the dog (and the poor cat, which I didn’t know about until the dog incident), I cannot do with Chris Pratt…will never ever go pay for a movie that he is in…same with his wife. Still, the movie will not bomb, right?
I am not hoping that Passengers will be a success. I am hoping it bombs, and that Chris Pratt’s career bombs soon after.
That probably won’t happen.
As for JLaw, I like her hair and make-up here. She looks good. I’ll pass on that outfit though. I would like the sweater if it were just a plain grey affair.
Don’t hope original films with budget flop, Hollywood has already barely making them. Pratt has Marvel and Jurassic Park and he is a white, liked good looking guy of the right age for Hollywood, he is not going anywhere even if this film bombs. It would hurt most original films and Jennifer Lawrence since she is a bigger star and she got payed more, some people would ridicule her demanding to be payed as a woman and then failing to deliver at box office. If the reviews are horrible you can wish it to flop but otherwise it would not do any good.
I think I saw that sweater at Target last week.
I think I saw that sweater at Target last week.
Her makeup is flawless but that outfit is a big nope.
As for her comment about Zika, I don’t even understand what she’s trying to say. Curbing overpopulation would be a good thing, so I don’t get the “fear.” But I think we would all hope that overpopulation can be addressed by improving our educational system and making access to abortion and contraception easy and inexpensive. It’s pretty gross to suggest that Zika might be the solution, as Zika will invariably have its largest impact on poor women in South America (where abortion access is essentially non-existent) and in states like Texas, Louisiana and Florida where access to abortion and contraception is also limited. Also, Zika isn’t going to do anything to curb overpopulation. It’s just going to lead to the births of more disabled children that our Republican-controlled government won’t provide the funds to ensure that they have proper care. So, more suffering for poor women and their families.
Her makeup is perfection. I love the outfit.
Well she was speaking in metaphors – like Zika was a real threat to healthy procreation and it is on everyone’s minds. It doesn’t need to be Zika but there could easily be another virus that causes mass infertility.
And curbing ‘overpopulation’ is great until you are the one who can’t procreate, which is what she is expressing as her fear.
I love the skirt and sweater together. Not so crazy about see through with granny panties, but in the first picture where you can’t see them, I think she looks amazing.
Passengers doesn’t even look that good IMO. It looks like a slightly different version every other space/sci-fi action movie that has come out. Plus I don’t like Chris Pratt and Jlaw never really did it for me.
The script of the movie as far as I heard is bulls**t. I dont think the director was a right choice for such a movie but I guess we will see.
Whomever wrote the original script had some cringe lines in them. Lines that I completely laughed at because they were so terrible. So who knows
Since this was not a premiere if she had worn the sweater with some formal skirt I feel it would have looked better. Also her hair looks wet and sad. The sweater is very cute but like… why would you buy a gray sweater from Dior ?? I love the press part of this movie where it is just her.. I am kind of annoyed with Pratt now. Has there been any word about how the movie is ??
” I have a long history of hating on the current direction of Dior – I think Raf Simons did very little to advance the label, and the current lines are just really boring. But this look? It’s making me very happy.”
I’m pretty sure this look is from Maria Grazia Chiuri, Dior’s new designer. It looks a lot like her work for Valentino. That would explain why you like it Kaiser!
I guess I don’t really get fashion. The sweater looks like something I would’ve wore in the 7th grade with my Mudd jeans and doc martens.
I wear these kind of clothing all the time, glad it still is fashionable since it is fun comftable. I need to buy a new sweater, been a while since I did.
She looks absolutely beautiful. I love this whole look so much.
I personally was deathly afraid of catching zika virus during my pregnancy this year. The CDC reported that the mosquito that transmits the virus was in south Florida, with a few confirmed cases. I prayed EVERY day that I wouldn’t get infected. My hubby had to wear protection when we’d do the do just to cut my chances. It was a long 9 months lol! When I delivered my son in late September I held my breath until I could lay eyes on him and know he was healthy. I’m not sure if that classifies me as neurotic but I’m happy to report that he was everything i prayed for and more. I could totally understand her being concerned about her future as a possible mom. I feel there should be a great concern for the future of this disease and the development of the babies that are infected with it. My prayers go out to all the ladies of the future. I hope they’ll find a cure/vaccine soon.
That sweater is completely hiddy. Absolutely ug. The skirt, see-thru as it is, is nice in that context. I wish I could remember what year that look was last popular, sometime in the 90s?
I hate how she’s better than me.
Hahahahaha!!! Her body is bangin’! She can wear whatever the h*ll she wants.
I do love the sweater, but my daughters all wore something similar from the Gap kids circa 1995.
YES! I remember that baby gap sweater hahahaha!
That outfit reminds me of a Christmas shopping bag from Macy’s Department Store.
Goodness, her face has changed. That down-home farty-girl persona seems to conceal the fact that she has a brand new face now.
I’ve been wondering about that for awhile now. Do you think it’s just that she lost weight and baby fat in her face due to aging, or do you think she actually had work done? I think her nose definitely looks narrower, but other than that I can’t put my finger on what she may have had done.
Definitely her nose–I think she may have had multiple nose jobs. I also feel like her eyes are much less hooded then they once were. Other than that, I can’t pinpoint anything else, but it’s just so different!
She has definitely had a couple nose jobs. A good friend of mine went to school with her and her nose was quite different, less refined. I’m not knocking her for it, I just think people out there should know how unnaturally beautiful most celebs are.
Hmm I think depending on your nose shape, weight loss can have an effect on it.
I have found my face changing a little throughout my 20s – my cheekbones are a little more pronounced, my jaw slightly sharper. It could just be regular changes.
But nose jobs are so standard in HW anyway, it really doesn’t matter!
Is she…is she.. suggesting… that Zika could render one sterile? Is that what she understands the dangers of Zika to be??? Like it’s some kind of viral birth control? Because someone should disabuse her of that notion… plenty of Zika babies survive, with catastrophic deficits.
She looks like comfy Cinderella, what’s not to like?
I hate this outfit with the white hot intensity of a thousand suns. The schlubby sweater, which might be cute with skinny jeans and boots, is wildly unflattering with the tulle skirt AND bunches out weird at her waist, making the decidedly lithe Lawrence look poochy. It’s also not doing her bra-less (WHY?) boobs any great favors. I’m positive they’d look ah-may-zing if not squished down by the fabric … Which is why you wear a bra to make sure they hold their natural, flattering shape once under clothing.
And the skirt is a hate crime. See-through tulle over boy shorts????? For the love of all that is holy, why????
Lastly, does her face look weird to anyone else? Have these shots been Photoshopped or has she, at her very tender age, already done something to her definitely-did-not-need-it skin? Because she looks unsettlingly smooth and plasticky. It’s like the Uncanny Valley edition of J-Law.
If I looked like Lawerence, or her aging relative even, I would make damn sure I used my influence and status to clothe my (her) gorgeous body in covet-worthy things that made me (her) look even more luminous and divine than I (she) already did. Youth and beauty are wasted on the young. Sigh.
If she was wearing Doc Martins under that skirt the 90’s youngster in me would absolutely poop myself! What a delightful flashback I’m having thanks to this ensemble!
LOVE the outfit, tired of her in general. And no, I don’t think the quote isn’t genuine or anything, because I believe it is, it’s just that her personality isn’t my cup of tea
I’m not the biggest fan of the see through skirt (thought that trend was finally over ugh) but the whole look is so cute and refreshing.
What is with everyone being an armchair plastic surgeon all of a sudden? She does not look tweaked, in my opinion. The girl looks like she lost her baby fat and that’s why she looks different. Didn’t any of you go through a phase in your late teens/early 20’s where your face just looked different and became more mature? I know I did and so did everyone else in my group of friends (with the pictures to prove it).
As for the outfit, I like the sweater and tutu combo, but would rather that the skirt wasn’t sheer either.
She does have that “expanded” look to her nose bridge/brow/forehead area that seems like the Botox calling card. Otherwise, yes, now she’s puppy-fat free (or stopped eating Doritos).
Glad I’m not alone in my dislike of Pratt and Faris, but it predates the dog incident of which I’m completely in the dark. Off to Google.
I would rock the sh $ t out of that entire ensemble. Gorgeous!
UGH. The cat hater . And dog throw away-er.
I hope this guys career is derailed pronto. AND his wife too.
That sweater looks like it’s from Target.
I f@#king LOVE this outfit on her. I would rock this , it’s just so girly yet fun and simple.
It’s a very 90’s look, and I love that: every girl had a massive sweater that she wore with a little tutu or chiffon skirt. But back then we didn’t have underwear for show, so the sweaters came down below our bums.
I love this sweater, and I love it with the skirt, but I’d love it better if the skirt were dense enough up top that you couldn’t see the blue granny panties. I realize you’re supposed to see them. I just wish you didn’t.
