Ivanka Trump will reportedly use the First Lady’s East Wing offices, maybe

FFN_Trumo_Ivanka_GGFF_121216_52255910

Surprisingly absolutely no one, sources have started floating the idea that Ivanka Trump will be – SHOCK! – her father’s de facto First Lady. We’ve always known this, and we knew this even more when Donald Trump confirmed that Melania and Barron would not be moving to the White House in January, or possibly at all. We also heard that Ivanka and Jared Kushner were planning on uprooting their family and moving from New York to Washington, to serve in as-yet-unspecified roles in the Trump administration. Ivanka and Jared are looking for a place to live in DC, and I wonder if the next story is going to be “Ivanka and Jared are moving into the White House.” Because now sources are saying that Ivanka is going to be using the traditional First Lady’s offices in the East Wing of the White House.

But soon after that story came out, PEOTUS Trump’s spokesperson told The Hill, “This is false. No decisions regarding Ivanka’s involvement have been made.” Which probably means it’s true? Well, I’ll believe the Trump spokesperson on one thing – I don’t think they’ve completely worked out what Ivanka’s title and job description will be, but let’s not kid ourselves – she is absolutely going to be playing a major role. She will be a combination of First Daughter, First Lady, senior adviser and more.

Also, there was a weird/funny controversy with this story within the media. Politico reporter Julia Ioffe first tweeted this story out and wrote, “Either Trump is f—king his daughter or he’s shirking nepotism laws. Which is worse?” Which is crude but… it sounds like the kind of thing I would write, so I’m not judging. She deleted it and she was immediately fired from Politico (she was already leaving, they just sped up the process). She offered this amazing apology:

She’s now going to work for The Atlantic. I hope they’re already giving her a raise.

OMG!! No way!! I did not see that coming at all!!

    • V4Real says:

I’m just hijacking your post to say I am so bombed right now. My boyfriend and I both work for a non-profit residential facility for at risk youth. Through his connections he was able to go to DC yesterday and they visited the White House. He met the President. I knew he was going to the White House but I had no idea he would actually meet President Barack Obama. I’m hating life right now.

  2. Tate says:

Of course she will. No surprise there. 😳

    What a creepy family.

  3. IMO says:

Well, she will be Donald’s First Lady. I’m pretty sure Melania hoped that he would lose.

    • Bread and Circuses says:

I’m pretty sure Melania has been gritting her teeth and thinking, “I did not sign up for this BS” the entire time.

She’s okay with dressing up and being good arm candy, and she certainly wouldn’t push back against any of Cheeto Mussolini’s ideas, but giving speeches in her second language and having to do a real job? Hell no.

  4. lisa says:

i wouldnt be surprised if cheetoh benito thought he could abdicate in her favor so he can go back to pussy grabbing full time

    • Sigh... says:

      “Cheeto Benito”
      ((snicker))

I bet you 10 security breifings he wouldn’t get that at all, no matter how “smart” he is…😒

      • LittlestRoman says:

I love that the gambling stakes are security briefings. Brilliant! I cannot get over how inarticulate he is. His vocabulary has to be 2,000-3,000 words, if that.

    • GingerCrunch says:

      All hail, the Groper-In-Chief!

  5. Rapunzel says:

This just proves Melania will do nothing as Flotus and probably never ever move to DC.

    • Radley says:

Useless trophy wife with sketchy past is wholly unfit to serve as First Lady in any meaningful way. Seems like she’s totally uninterested in the job anyway.

    • swak says:

Divorce coming (from him) once he is no longer president. She’s past his sell by date.

      • Original T.C. says:

        +10000

She would already be the ex if she didn’t have Barron. That is her *Trump* card. Try getting rid of the woman who gave you a son, and one that looks like your clone. Sexist men love things like that.

However, Melanie is strategic and will fight to the end to stay Mrs. Trump. She KNOWS that her standing amongst the rich and famous is dependent on Trump, unlike his two ex’s who have fame and abilities of their own to stand on.

      • minx says:

Well, Ivana gave him two sons, and he got rid of her. Just saying 😉

  6. Alleycat says:

Her joke may have been crass, but it’s true. He has an unnatural tie to his daughter and her husband. Can you imagine if Bill Clinton did this with Chelsea? People would be freaking out. I still cannot get over the fact people actually voted for Donald Trump. Trump, the dude from the Apprentice will now be president. I have lots of fb friends who voted for him and it still shocks me.

    • Tate says:

I used to have FB friends who voted for him. They are gone now. This was not a normal election and if you voted for Trump you voted for a man that ran a vile, hatefilled campaign and I have no room in my life for that.

      • V4Real says:

Yes Tate. People who voted for Trump actually showed who they really are. I give them all the middle finger and I don’t care if anyone is offended.

      • Neelyo says:

I don’t have many FB friends who voted for him but i’ve kept them because I want to see their reactions when they realize Donald’s fucked them too. I just don’t follow them.

      • Alleycat says:

I deleted a lot of them but I kept a couple, because I still need to be aware of what the crazies are saying.

      • lisa says:

i deleted all mine too. life’s too short. there were only 6 so i totally didnt see this coming. every morning is like the ingmar bergman version of groundhog day.

      • BonBon says:

Apparently everyone came out a winner on that

      • Toxic shock avenger says:

Amen. This wasn’t a political decision. It was a morality test. Trump voters failed. Miserably.

  7. minx says:

I can’t stand this fake cheery hypocrite and her chopped off nose.

    • Snowflake says:

Yes! All his supporters say how hot she is! No. Bad nose job. She is just typical skinny blonde with boob job. Her nose is too small for the rest of her face. And i think she has fillers too, too much, gives her chipmunk cheeks

  8. littlemissnaughty says:

Gross but not surprising. He might not be f*cking his daughter but we all know he wants to.

    • Nancy says:

The fact that people even ponder the fact that he could have gone there with his princess bride, I mean daughter, is repulsive. Just as disturbing is the fact that she doesn’t object to it. She, in fact, admitted she didn’t mind that he called her “hot” and would date her if she wasn’t his daughter. This is our first family. Tricia Nixon was mocked as a prude, Carter’s daughter as strange, Chelsea for her appearance, the Bush twins are partyers, Patty Reagan as a rebel and Ivanka as being oh so close to her daddy. This girl will have our countries secrets in her own office. Gag me with a maggot……someone has to get a grip on this situation. Out of control.

  9. Rapunzel says:

As for that incest joke by Julia Ioffe, I think it’s clear Donny wants a wife like Ivanka, at the very least. And that’s disturbing.

  10. Lynnie says:

Is this even allowed?? 😑😑 God, everyone in D.C is being SO spineless rn

    • Neelyo says:

Ain’t it the truth? Where are the Democrats? Where is their outrage???

      • Snowflake says:

Oh, I’m outraged. I just dont know what i can do about it. It doesn’t seem like we can do anything

      • Ashamed 2 b a Fl girl says:

For that matter, where are the republicans? Where is their outrage? I think they are giving him enough rope to hang himself and be impeached because Pence / Ryan is their end game.

      • Neelyo says:

@snowflake – Me too. i meant the Dems in DC. They’re probably already all on vacation.

        @Ashamed 2 b – I’ve wondered the same thing myself.

      • Who ARE These People? says:

I think Neelyo meant the leadership of the Democratic party … the people who still could have some actual influence in the situation if they would stop being so disorganized and spineless.

      • steerpike says:

I went to a town hall meeting held by my democratic representative in congress and was a little disappointed. He talked a good game about protecting immigrants, but also talked about reaching across the aisle and trying to work with the republicans. He definitely did not display any sense of outrage.

      • Lynnie says:

@Ashamed I love your username! I feel the same way about living in Florida myself lol.

@WATP I saw your nice message on the links post the other day! Good to be back 😊.

@steerpike Ugh, I know your rep means well, but this is not the time for kumbaya. Republicans didn’t want to work across the aisle when they were political underdogs, why would they want to now when they are virtually in control of everything. 😪 We’re all screwed

      • Ashamed 2 b a Fl girl says:

@ lynnie – It used to be just “FL girl” but I’ve now lived through the Al Gore debacle and the soon to be trump apocalypse, as a FL resident, so, truly I am ashamed!

  11. Lightpurple says:

And will she be divesting all ownership in businesses and putting assets in a blind trust? She should NOT have been at that tech meeting yesterday or at the meeting with the Japanese PM.

People should refuse to meet with them until they get the ethics thing straight. And we should all be demanding that the government ethics administration investigate her. Insider trading carries a prison sentence

    • Rapunzel says:

Lightpurple- yes! Ivanka is looking like she deserves the Martha Stewart treatment.

    • HK9 says:

Honest question here-how is this happening? I thought putting your assets in a blind trust was the law. Am I wrong? Is there not an office or committee that ticks off all the official things that the president elect is supposed to do before the big day?

      • Lightpurple says:

There is an agency. And the agency’s legal department told him he had to sell his business

  12. Bitchy says:

The accusation of nepotism is absolutely justified.

I think that he will try to establish a kind of hereditary presidency in the USA. Just wait.
Ivanka as crown princess and next Queen.
And when she is tired of the job it will be Barron’s turn or Ivanka’s kids as Trump’s other boys aren’t really bright enough.

  13. sherry says:

I don’t have a problem with Ivanka taking on that role, just as I was anticipating Chelsea taking on that role if her mother had won. Melania has repeatedly stated her first priority is Barron. We all know she didn’t want the FLOTUS job.

What I do have a problem with is Jared Kushner and Trump’s sons involvement in this administration. Too much nepotism going on for my taste.

    • Rapunzel says:

Sherry- Chelsea would never have taken on such a role. Her mother has never involved her to that extent and Hillary has Bill, who would’ve stepped up and acted a role as spouse.

      • Ashamed 2 b a Fl girl says:

Bill would have been the First Laddy.

      • sherry says:

That’s not what I heard. My husband has a lot of political dealings in DC and when Hillary was vetting VP’s, she was pretty open about the fact Bill would be a co-President and whoever her choice was needed to be okay with that and Chelsea would be assuming the social FLOTUS duties.

This is what was said in DC circles (the gossip came from Democrat and Republican sources).

    • Lightpurple says:

I have a lot of problems with her doing this if she does not completely divest all business holdings immediately. She appears to be as ethically challenged as the pig who spawned her.

I also have a huge problem with my tax dollars being spent on guarding her stepmother’s selfish, pampered ass in New York.

      • sherry says:

I agree. I see people complaining about the Obama’s spending $85 million on vacations over the last 8 years, how about the $100 million PER YEAR (at least) it will take to keep Melania and Barron safe in NYC? Not to mention the major inconvenience it will cause residents in the area.

  14. Radley says:

There’s levels to the wrongness here. The conflict of interest. The blatant nepotism. The treating the daughter like a wife. Treating her like a wife after Trump once telling Wendy Williams he and Ivanka have “sex” in common. Help me. I can’t with any of this.

I need a hot shower after my daily dose of Trumpian f*ckery. They make me wanna crawl outta my skin. This is the kinda stuff you expect to read in a historical bio about a long past era where the King locked up the Queen in great tower and took the Princess as his unofficial bride and moved to a new castle where things happened that the entire court refused to speak of . *shivers*

    • Bitchy says:

That was a fairy tale called “Allerleirauh”. The king wanted to marry his daughter because she looked like her late mother. The princess was smart and demanded 4 dresses which took some time to make. One like all the stars on the sky. One like the moon. One like the sun. One made from a piece of the fur of every animal in the forest, that was the “Allerleirauh” dress. She got those wedding dresses. The night before her wedding she took her dresses and wore the allerleirauh and ran away. … She later found her prince with some smart tricks.

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allerleirauh

I don’t think that this will be a fairy tale, though. No Happy end for quite a while.

  15. polonoscopy says:

The Atlantic is a HUGE step up from Politico. This reporter shouldn’t fret.

  16. CharlieWaffles says:

It’s disturbing how no one complains about his decisions, everybody bows down to Donald.

  17. Rapunzel says:

Oh, and remember how Donnyboy was gonna hold a reds conference today (12-15) to discuss how he’s stepping away “in total” from his business? Yeah….apparently that’s been pushed back, like releasing his tax returns and Melania’s immigration status.

This family is riding roughshod over the office of POTUS, and the oath hasn’t even been given yet.

  18. jerkface says:

Theres something strange and it don’t look good. Who you gonna call?
No seriously we need some ghost busters level zips and zaps and lasers and junk. I thought there was a system of checks and balances that prevented this kind of crap? Maybe the big pay back is coming. Pray to James Brown so he will take this to the bridge.

  19. Bali says:

You just know that Melania doesn’t want to be FLOTUS.

  20. Kasia says:

I’m still blown away that you guys literally have proof that Russia intervened in your election added on to the fact that the so called “winner” actually got, like 3 million less votes but you just have to let it happen.
That “land of the free” stuff is starting to sound like a bunch of bullocks to me.

    • Who ARE These People? says:

It’s sounding like a bunch of bullocks to a lot of Americans, too.

I think a lot of people really were turning a blind eye to serious problems in the electoral process out of complacency and denial, and are having a harsh and rude awakening.

    • Lucy2 says:

It is pure insanity. Never thought I’d see all this happens, but I’m still holding out a little hope the antiquated electoral college system somehow saves us.

      • Lynnie says:

When they don’t how hard would it be to dismantle the whole electoral college system entirely? If they can’t do their jobs and stop an orange presidency then they don’t deserve to have those jobs.

      • Rapunzel says:

Lynnie- it would be VERY hard to dismantle the EC entirely. It would take a constitutional amendment. Those are very difficult to get passed. And the state’s that benefit from the EC will fight to protect it because they think it keeps the “libitard” states like CA from controlling everything.

I think the best that can be hoped for is a change in the electoral college to make it more reflective of Popular vote. I think that could happen without an amendment.

    • Kitten says:

Yup. ITA that it’s completely insane. That Land of The Free stuff is bullshit.

  21. hmmm says:

Great. She’ll get free office space, free office support. To run her businesses. When will this abomination end?

  22. Eric says:

A disturbing as this is, ivanka cannot hold an official White House (or govt) job due to nepotism laws launched in the late ’60s (after JFK and RFK). She will be privy to insider WH info, however, as the de facto FLOTUS.

There are much more important items to concern yourselves with though. Russian interference in the election; Putin’s hand in said interference; possible collusion by the Donald of Orange in the interference by suggesting openly in Florida July 27 that “Russia should hack/release the 30,000 emails.” In addition, the gross conflicts of interest by Napoleorange and his family and his cabinet pick of Tillerson with regard to business interests and Russian ties.

    • Original T.C. says:

It’s still important because I can bet you now that the Donald will find a way to break those nepotism laws, just by not giving his kids an “official title”. Case and point: allowing all 3 of his children and Ivanka to sit in on the Tech leaders meeting. That is egregious! https://apple.news/AJc7-2i0ESNStge1WlofSMA

Besides Trump won by the greed of his already rich voters and he will be brought down by those same voters for his conflict of interest in business and Trump inc. Things that we consider serious like the Russian hack, racism, sexism etc. doesn’t matter to those who elected him. Hacking or no hacking he is still going to be president. He changed the rules as to what politicians can get away with and we need to keep up.

    • lightpurple says:

I am concerned about all those things but I am also concerned about the violation of the emolument prohibitions of Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution of the United States of America.

  23. Jenns says:

Julia Ioffe was just using locker room talk.

  24. JRenee says:

This keeps getting worse and worse daily.
It’s like a bread crumb of nepotism daily until after the electoral votes are submitted and then an entire crap loaf!
Our government is being run amuk for personal gain!

  25. Neelyo says:

How can she breathe through that nose?

  26. Sigh... says:

    And the swamp gets swampier

  27. Lucy2 says:

This is gross on every level.

  28. robyn says:

All the conflicts of interests here are mindboggling. How can media stay on top it? Ivanka should be ashamed of her corrupt Putin-patsy pussygrabbing dad but instead she is his biggest enabler. I have no respect for her and cringe at the thought of this family being in the White House. It is an invasion by Russia. Trump should be in jail for treason not the WH.
