Solange Knowles is now a Grammy winner, you guys. She won a Grammy for “Best R&B Performance” for “Cranes in the Sky.” This is her first Grammy. Solange came to play too, choosing two different outfits for the show. She wore this gold Gucci for the red carpet, and she changed into a grey striped Irisvan Herpen Fall 2016 Couture gown for inside the Staples center, where she presented and collected her Grammy. I like the grey better? I also think Solange has more interesting style than Beyonce, every day of the week.
Interesting enough, Solange also seemed to indicate that she’s pissed about her sister’s Grammy snubs. She tweeted out Frank Ocean’s Tumblr post about the Grammys not respecting black artists (which I covered on Sunday). Will Solange boycott? Is Solange calling for a boycott? Eh.

Elle King wore Teuta Matoshi Duriqi. You know what? I don’t have a problem with this. Her voice is so throaty, I expected her to show up in some kind of nouveu Mae West ensemble, but I like that she went ultra-fem and girly. She’s a pretty girl too.
Andra Day wore Christian Dior. Does this look like Dior to you? It’s weird, right? Still, I love her and to me, she can do no wrong.

I hate the gold dress but the black and white print dress was amazing. This photo doesnt do it justice.

I hated the gold from the front but from the side it looks totally different & so good!
I like the shimmery gold color, just not the outfit itself.
Take out the left sleeve and the peplum and that dress would have been a knockout.
I LOVE the grey striped Irisvan Herpen gown on Solange. The golden thing – either the shoulder ruffle or the peplum has to go – together it’s just too much. I love her hair too!

That ruffle reminded me of those shiny, pleated foil things that get hung up as party decorations. Solange looked beautiful in spite of the gold dress.

All three dresses are bad, but I really, really hate that gold dress. And Solange, way to support Frank Ocean’s message only AFTER your sister didn’t win. You stayed silent before thinking those rules don’t apply to the great blonde Beyoncé and you didn’t speak up for the other Black artist. Shame on you.
Except Solange is very vocal about black artists and black issues in general. She has never been one to shy away from unpopular opinion. Her entire album was dedicated to blackness, in fact she is very in your face about her culture and thoughts. If you are unfamiliar perhaps inform yourself before stating something like this.

I’m a Black woman and know about Solange’s history of supporting Black issues as well as her music. LOL. But thanks for assuming I’m in need of your education! Your defensive statements still did not address the point that Solange only supported Frank Ocean’s statement against the Grammy’s when her sister did not win as expected.
Do you really think she would have co-signed it if her sister won? We all make exceptions to the rule when it comes to family members. She should have simply made her own statement about being disappointed that her sister’s good work did not win (which I agree should have won Album of the year).
how I wish Solange gave tribute to GM. he loved black music and used it proudly, she could’ve sang any funky, rnb song and with some moves, it would be a real celebration of his work.
Oh, but Solange, Adele cried and dedicated her award to Beyonce! So endearing!!!!!

I adore Solange. I wrote in the Adele thread that A Seat at the Table should have won Album of the year (I didn’t watch the Grammys so I don’t even know if it was nominated). And I agree that Solange has the better style of the two sisters. She doesn’t always get it right, but when she does, she’s spectacular.
Even when she doesn’t get it right she manages to pull it off. She can wear anything, l hope we see more of her from now on.

I really wish many artists boycott the Grammy next year. Enough is enough. Can you imagine Rihanna got 0 award out of 8 noms last night, for a great album. And many agree that 25 isn’t a great album but we knew Adele would still win nonetheless.
I finally listened to the full “A Seat at the Table” album a couple days ago and loved it! I’ve always loved Solange’s style and aura. Now I can say I’m a fan of her music.

Solange’s got so much style I almost hate her for it. Elle’s gown is not good (imo), but she’s crazy talented. It’s nice to see her on the carpet.

Bruno Mars and John Legend killed it. Bruno killed it twice. Such an amazing artist.
Can we talk about Bey in that red sparkle dress?! Beautiful. Honestly, her performance I didn’t enjoy because she didn’t sing for 80% of it. At least she was able to speak from the heart in an acceptance speech! Blue is perfect!
Riri was the true artist who was screwed! She didn’t get anything, and I loved so many of those songs!! She had an edgy, awesome outfit on also. Something only she could pull off!
I feel like it was the Adele show. ‘Hello’ was a great song, but not so much the rest. So SOTY, sure. But AOTY not so much. Adele really knows how to dress herself. She looked beautiful and flattering in every outfit change. She is such a pretty woman. She wore her hair up, and I loved it!
Ohh yeah, and James(the host) was hilarious. We really enjoyed him!!
