    This distresses me bigly.

    • NotSoSocialButterfy says:

Me, too. I read the date and uttered an involuntary, “Ugh!”

      • Nancy says:

Right. Shame shame shame shame shame shame shame shame shame shame shame shame shame shame…..

I’m PRESSED about this show! P-R-E-S-S-E-D

  3. nemera77 says:

I HATE the way that they premier shows now. I’m dating myself; but I remember when the season for shows ended the same week. And you had the Summer to re-watch them or finds shows that you missed. The new season for them all started in the Fall. Now things are pushed back and back. Scattered so much I just don’t have the patience to keep up. Which is why I find that I don’t watch a lot of network shows. I watch shows I missed on Netflix. I understand them trying to give viewers things to watch throughout the year.

    • Bridget says:

Network shows still follow that same calendar. It’s cable and premium that are a little more creative with their scheduling.

      • Nancy says:

The networks are weird too. Gotham and Lucifer are on Fox. They start with about five episodes in the fall, take a break, come back in January, show three new episodes then bloop……there is no method to the madness.

      • Angela82 says:

I don’t mind some creativity in scheduling as someone who didn’t grow up with HBO until I was already in my 20s-30s and mostly watch basic network. However, this is getting ridiculous at this point. I get that the author has been as slow as molasses releasing books, but I thought he admitted he wouldn’t finish in time and gave them the basic story-line so that the show could be finished while the kids were still young enough. Now its July. Wasn’t it supposed to be April or did I make that up? I was already pissed off they were going to run half the episodes and then break for a full year.

I almost prefer what Netflix is doing with Strangers THings. it may be a year between seasons but at least the whole season is released at one time.

      • Bridget says:

Essentially, the big difference is that they’ve done away with re-runs. And that makes sense with the way we consume content nowadays, with On-Demand and digital outlets.

@Angela – think it’s possible that the scope of the story is just too big to have it filmed and done in time for April?

      • Nancy says:

Angela…..Netflix truly has saved the day. I knew George R.R. Martin had writer’s block, but July when supposedly there are shows already in the can. By July they may lose viewers in the summer. Can’t wait for Stranger Things. Love it. Also this is the last season of Bates Motel. I’m watching in real time and it is so awesomely good. I realize it’s more of a cult hit than a wildly popular show, but the acting is off the hook with Vera and Freddie. It’s on Netflix now also.

    • nem says:

      +1
i really respect netflix way now.hbo is giving comedies so few time, and they screw up the steve mcqueen series i was really anticipating(i m too much a pussy for 12 years a slave)

  4. Bridget says:

    Ugh, July?

And speaking of GOT delays, still no word on the next book, huh?

    • nem says:

asoiaf next book isn’t ready,g.r.r martin has recognized being late to his own planning ..again in january.
i have the uttermost admiration for j.k rowling who has suceeded in finishing her heptalogy,a lot of other books in the same universe and other projects, having and educating children, marrying for the second time, etc. in the same time span he’s having bigger and bigger writer s block.
maybe he should ask for help.there is no way he s giving this saga a proper end and universe books

      • Bridget says:

He needed a better editor a decade ago, because he’s a really self-indulgent writer. Books 4 and 5 did NOT need to be split. But beyond that, it’s pretty clear he isn’t that passionate about the book series. He is way more excited about the opportunities it has brought him, and that’s part of the problem. It’s not a story that absolutely needs to come out of him, and the other stuff is super fun.

      • nem says:

        i agree.
but it really looks like he can’t release this work from his own hands either.it seems to be a love hate relationship with asoiaf…it deserves a book too,lol

      • paolanqar says:

        Bridget

I love you so much for what you have written there. spot on.
GRRM needs someone to kick his ass pronto.

  5. nem says:

are they trying to buy g r r martin some more time???
that s unfair,as he isn’ t able to finish his damn books they owe us an end in time.

  6. Angela82 says:

HBO is so god damn annoying. I thought they had already filmed, guess I was wrong.

    • BettyD says:

They have already filmed. Since Winter Is Here, they had to shift the production schedule by several months. Hence: July instead of March/April.

      • Angela82 says:

Hmm ok. Still sucks. For some reason I really thought I only had to wait a month or so more. 🙁

  7. Lightpurple says:

    Drogon!
    Rhaegal!
    Viserion!

    Alas, no more WunWun.
    No more HODOR!

  8. crazydaisy says:

That trailer was DARK. I worry about how violent and gruesome this next season (half season, really) will be. By the time it premieres, we fans will have been waiting more than a year!! But will season 7 mostly be White Walkers killing everything in sight? I hope Jon & Co. arm everyone with dragon glass STAT. There are so many interesting stories in play, just crying for resolution… I am hoping to see Arya reunite with her family again, lots of Tyrion, lots of dragons and Daenerys, Bran in masterful control of his powers….those are tops on my wish list. Can’t wait!

    • nem says:

oh yes it is with that green fire and snow everywhere….
and with all this wars plague ,etc some will have to die

  9. BettyD says:

From reading the production schedule releases and actor spottings, they shifted the filming of this season later than usual by several months to accommodate the fact that it’s Winter now. I’m guessing they run a tight ship getting the editing and effects done, so I always assumed it would be summer before this series premiered. Just excited we have a date!

  10. jerkface says:

I tried to watch one episode of this and threw my remote at the TV. I just can’t stand it at all. I think it is complete garbage. I know I’m in the minority on this one. I’d honestly rather just stare at the wall for an hour. Maybe I’m getting too old?

    • pinetree13 says:

What…qualifies as a good show in your world?

      • Lex says:

        Big Bang Theory probably… bahaah

      • jerkface says:

Ummm…Golden Girls? lol But seriously I really couldn’t answer the question without a joke because I just feel so uninspired by so much. I find myself just watching comedy and Richard Attenborough docs. Seen a lot of violence IRL and dragons are my least favorite make believe animal. I know, I’m boring.
But I think it is cool that you guys have something that you love to watch 🙂

      • Eden75 says:

Not everyone is going to be a huge fan of the show. I can take it or leave it. I read the books and prefer them but the show is ok.

The violence is not going to do it for everyone, neither is the rape, swearing, incest, etc. There’s no need to be rude because someone doesn’t like it.

  11. Skins says:

    I’m over this show

    • Silly minx says:

It’s become very illogical and only focused on shock for the sake of shock. I’m ready for The Winds of Winter to come out. That’s what I’m anticipating. The show I gave up on two seasons ago.

  12. AnotherDirtyMartini says:

I’m happy with July. They initially thought it would premiere November 2017.

I’m not happy that there are two short seasons

  13. noodle says:

interesting that in the end when it all crumbles down you have that spirally thing left how the white walkers usually arrange the dead bodies

  14. Juluho says:

GRRM and the double D’s clearly just hate GOT fans. Oh you’ve been waiting for the next book for an eternity? Oh we left the show on the end all be all of cliff hangers? How about we show you the next episode over a year later. It’s a toxic relationship

  15. minx says:

I don’t watch GoT but I hate the way shows eke out a season here and there. I know these series are expensive (like The Crown) but still….Mad Men, for example, would have only 13 episodes a season–paltry enough. But they split the last season in half, so you wait a year to get 7 episodes? I liked Better Call Saul, but IIRC they only show 10 episodes in an entire year. I’ve come to think there’s something appealing about network television; they manage to crank out more viewing week after week.

  16. Zuzus Girl says:

That show has far too much violence against women for me. The strong women can’t erase that.

  17. Vox says:

Screw the show, I will cry if TWOW doesn’t drop at the end of the year.

I need to know how the Battle of Ice and the Battle of Dawn play out and if JonCon and Aegon will succeed. I need to see what Euron is planning for the Damphair and what Moqorro is up to with Victarion. I want to see the outcome of Cersei’s trial and if Jaime and Brienne will manage to get out of the clutches of spoiler people. I want to see King’s Landing in the aftermath of Kevan’s death and witness Ser Barristan’s glorious final stand. I want to see the Sand Snakes infiltrating King’s Landing and the Citadel. I want to see Doran’s sorrow when he finds out what happened to Frog and how that will effect Arianne. I want to see Tyrion and Jorah join up with Dany when she gets back from the Dothraki Sea with the Khalasar of Khalasars. I want to know who the Harpy is, if it’s even one person. I want to know if the horns are really magical. I want to see Sam forging his links along with Sarella. I want to watch Arya reunite with Nymeria and the massive pack. I want to see Lord Too-Fat-To-Sit-A-Horse’s northern revenge scheme come to fruition.

Some of those things were in the show, or will be, but never the same way the books portray those events. The show can never hold a candle to the source material, sadly.

The show is just no substitute for the real deal.

    • kimbers says:

Each year i kinda care less about the show….i dont know if it’s bc they push back the dates, or I’m just changing my interests, but i dont get excited about new seasons anymore. I will get the next book for the series collection but might not read for years…only bc the one after will take a decade to print. No rush in watching or reading.
