This is your annual reminder that Lady Gaga’s fans – the Little Monsters – are actually kind of the worst fanbase. The Little Monsters have an unfortunate history of shenanigans towards the enemies – real or merely perceived enemies – of their Mother Monster. The Little Monsters have long memories and they will literally troll people for years if someone even breathes one word against Gaga. In some cases, the person doesn’t even have to name-check Gaga specifically. Like, the Little Monsters have gone after Adele, Lana Del Rey, the Black Keys, Kelly Osbourne, Madonna and more. Apparently, Ed Sheeran has gotten caught up in it too. The backstory: months ago, Sheeran did an interview with Beats Radio 1 in which he said this:
“I do not want to be the kind of artist who has had two successful albums and then feels invincible. I have to know when to listen to people, or I’ll end up like those artists you’ve interviewed in recent years. You’ve seen them become the biggest artists in the world, and then suddenly they will say, ‘I know everything!’ And just after, they are no longer at the top.The smartest thing to do is listen to people who know I do not want to do the Super Bowl years later, after my biggest success, just to prove I’m still relevant.”
Which… yeah, is probably about Lady Gaga because it fits perfectly, although to be fair, it could be several other people too. I think even Gaga would admit that she slumped big-time with her second and third albums and that she bungled it. But the Little Monsters wouldn’t hear of it. They’ve apparently been attacking Ed Sheeran for months, to the point where they chased him off social media. Sheeran confirmed as much in a new interview with The Sun:
“I’ve actually come off Twitter completely. I can’t read it. I go on it and there’s nothing but people saying mean things. One comment ruins your day. The headf–k for me has been trying to work out why people dislike me so much… Lady Gaga’s fanbase read an interview in which they assumed I was talking about her and they all f–king hate. And it wasn’t anything to do with that at all… So, I think Twitter gets on a massive steam roll of assuming things and then you get in the s–t.”
Wouldn’t surprise me at all. Again, he emphasizes that Gaga didn’t have anything personally to do with the online attacks, but I’ve seen the way the Little Monsters go after Gaga’s perceived enemies and it isn’t pretty. I’m sure there were many Gaga fans just sitting on Ed Sheeran’s social media, waiting to talk sh-t about him on his feed. Anyway, Gaga posted this IG (below) where she tries to cool down the inflamed tempers of her fans.

The Beyhive is the worst, tho. Part of why I didn’t liked Beyoncé until a few years ago was because of them.
Noooooo I have to disagree. Lady Gaga’s fans are something else. They are extremely nasty and while the Beyhive will troll you and leave after they get bored Gaga’s monsters will stalk you for life! They say the most disgusting and vile things. Trust me, Gaga’s fans are truly horrible.
But Bey’s fans tend to be obsessive AND dumb – like harassing Rachel Ray because they’re morons who can’t spell.
Ed Sheeran has no redeeming quality in his body. All he does is complain and then brag about his “success”. He has turned into a male version of Taylor Swift and I cannot stand him. I am very cranky on this Friday morning, sorry.
My Chemical Romance’s MCRmy was absolutely horrible when they were still together. I remember when the band’s singer got married people were actually sending death threats to each other on various forum boards. They also outed a member who was cheating on his soon to be ex wife.
Artpop was very disappointing. But I love all of her other albums. The most recent Joanne is a great album, but lacks some pure hit tracks. People who harass “stars” on social media should go to talk a professional.
The constantly attack his looks..which…
Is juvenile and immature
Lady Gaga still has fans??
They really are stubborn!
The whole thing is pathetic. Who sits on their social media waiting to attack celebrities or anyone?? People who engage in that behavior have to really look at themselves. And attacking him for his looks? That’s worse than going after his music or interviews.
Gaga is also notorious for passively accepting her fans’ bad behavior.
The girl campaigns on love and acceptance. Has the Born This Way foundation. Does she really need to send out a broadcast every time her fan base goes nuts? She already spreads a message of kindness! Apparently every pop star is the online police. Beyhive is pretty bad foo, and no one criticizes her for being passive. Smh.
Gaga Stan here, I have no comment on Ed Sheeran because I literally do not care about him at all. Small correction though, Gaga’s first real album was The Fame, second and third, The Fame Monster and Born this Way, both of which were her biggest albums. I think you mean fourth (artpop-which was admittedly the worst thing she’s ever put out) and fifth (Joanne) as albums that floundered. 🙂
The Fame Monster was technically a re-release of the Fame, not its own album. Though they did call Joanne LG5.
In a lot of places Fame Monster was released as a standalone EP, and Gaga considers them two different albums.
No actually TFM it’s it’s own EP.
Gaga re-released The Fame as a 2 part deluxe album with The Fame Monster as the second CD.
Gaga fans are psychotic. They still go after Duncan Jones, David Bowie’s son, because he wasn’t super impressed with the Bowie tribute she did at the Grammy’s or wherever it was. They bring up his dead father, tell him to die, say awful things about his son, etc. And Gaga does nothing to reign them in either.
Lady Gaga has addressed the issue with her fans. She has addressed the bullying on Twitter. Other artists have done the same thing. Did it work? No. Its impossible to stop the behavior of millions of fans that decide to troll on the internet. It gives the fans the attention they crave but it doesn’t stop the bullying. Cyber bullying is an issue that goes far beyond stans.
Didn’t he write a song blatantly attacking his ex-girlfriend/FWB with very sexist insinuations? Sucks that he’s being harassed, but I don’t have much patience for his hypocrisy.
Yes he did. He wrote an attack song about Ellie Goulding who stopped being his FWB after she began dating Niall Horan who is one of Ed’s friends. Amazingly, he found it in his heart to still get along with Niall but lashed out at Ellie by writing a song basically calling her a sl*t.
He’s also very kiss and tell prone. I think he just wants everyone to know he hooks up with models because it must raise his self-esteem or something.
he’s hooking up with models? I thought he has a girlfriend who’s from his hometown?
This seems to point to a deeper problem on social media as highlighted by this article that suggests online trolls are psychopaths and sadists. It seems that when they get together under the guise of stans they most likely support each other in their bullying tactics. Better moderation would help, surely if these computer/PR companies have the know-how to invent ‘bots’ to post mildly supportive comments they could use the same technology to weed out abuse.

That is a very interesting read. I have another take on trolls, having learned recently that my sister has admitted to posting some random thing just to get people riled up so she can enjoy watching them explode – we all have a little sadism in us. The internet came along and gave us the perfect forum to let our sadistic, narcissistic, sociopathic flag fly.
People need to get their “outcast” kids who think the only way to make friends in life is to join an online fan base and be cruel. Take their phones and get them out of the frickin house. All of these groups are toxic…arianators, beliebers, etc. The sad part is that many of them are now adults and hate their lives to the point that attacking a successful stranger is the highlight of their day. It’s all “for the fame”.
male fragility. this is nothing compared to what women have to put up with online.
THIS!
At first glance, I thought this was a photo of Austin Powers
But, ugh. He *is* annoying!
that’s something that I’ve been conflicted about for forever with Ed. he’s so fixated on having the best selling album/tours/songs. I kind of question his artistic integrity. I mean obviously an artist has to watch the monetary side, but I don’t know… he lets it hang out soooo often. like he’s just become a singer so he can flip the bird to the kids that used to bully him in school and show everyone how much better he is.
So, let me see if I got this right. Sheeran says something negative about some artist but doesn’t name that person. And the comment is vague enough to apply to multiple people, past and present.
Lady Gaga’s fans assume it’s about her.
Sounds to me like they are the ones dissing Mama Monster. Lol.
If the shoe fits!
The question I have is why do some artists, like Gaga have such a weird fanbase of pshychos? Why would you spend time and actively attack someone on social media? Especially when the artist you are a fan of is running on message of love and acceptance?
I don’t blame him, really. I don’t blame anyone who decides to leave twitter. It is a cesspool of hate from so many different people.
