Julianne Hough’s dream wedding is the cover story for this week’s People magazine. The 29-year-old Dancing with the Stars judge and her 34-year-old hockey playing spouse were wed on Saturday in Lake Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. You may be thinking, ‘“Why Idaho?” but there’s a sentimental reason the site was chosen. According to People, Julianne spent many a summer vacation there as a kid. As she told the magazine “When I introduced Brooks to the lake, he fell in love with this special spot, and we knew this was where we wanted to raise our family and grow old together. It just felt right to be married here.”
The magazine shared video highlights of the wedding weekend, including a welcome party for the couple’s guests on Friday night, complete with wood fired pizza, giant Jenga and cornhole games. You had me at pizza. Before the ceremony on Saturday, everyone hit the lake to enjoy wake surfing and boating. (In contrast, my pre-wedding festivities involved shots at a dive bar on the beach in Florida.) When the couple got together for their “first look” photos on the shore of the lake, Brooks looked genuinely smitten with his bride-to-be. He looked at her like I look at Buffalo wings, so I know it’s love.

During the ceremony, the love fest continued. Julianne confessed that “Brooks and I kept eye contact the entire ceremony. We never stopped looking at each other.” She told People that the event-defining moment for a day she called “perfection” was “kissing each other for the first time as husband and wife as the confetti cannons exploded around us.” I want to be sarcastic, but that is kind of awesome. Julianne went on to say, “I couldn’t stop crying all weekend and most people [thought] I would have cried during the entire ceremony, but instead I was just so excited and ready to celebrate!”
And celebrate they did. At their reception, where Julianne swapped her Marchesa wedding gown for a sheer number, she and Brooks had their first dance to OneRepublic’s song “All This Time” while a fireworks display lit up the sky. Because of course it did. Julianne’s girlfriends and bridesmaids surprised the couple with a recreation of a dance routine she performed during her Move Beyond Live tour to Sia’s song “The Greatest.” Obviously, there was lots of dancing going on. Julianne’s Father-Daughter dance with pop Bruce was accompanied by the song “Daddy’s Little Girl,” which was written by Julianne and her sister Marabeth 10 years ago. It sure looked like a splendid time was had by all. PEN has a pretty comprehensive wrap-up of the weekend’s festivities which will either make you insanely jealous (guilty) or vaguely sick to your stomach. I guess my invitation got lost in the mail. Sigh.

‘the ring bearer dogs’ is all I need to know about these people to give them an enormous pass for the cheese.
Hahaha..same. Man, I am such a sucker for animal-lovers.
Wow that sheer second dress is so lovely.
In that one photo it is breathtaking.
I can’t tell if it’s as pretty when she’s still though.
Agreed, when I read sheer I thought it was a weird choice but then I saw the picture and it really works!
I’ve always liked Julianne. I’m very happy for them!
I love that sheer dress too.
Good for them! They look happy and loved up. Plus Hough is very pretty on any given day.
Um, I don’t like or really understand the sheer gown. I thought that she might be having a pool party afterward and this was the swimsuit and cover-up!
That reception dress is awful.
Yikes, those eyebrows! I guess it’s been a long time since I paid attention to her, because I did not recognize her in these pix.
Came on here to say same thing. Eyebrows!!! Yikes!!!!
I thought the same. They dominate everything on her head. Yikes!
Is there such a thing as eyebrow trauma? If so, here it is.
I have been to Lake Coeur d’Alene, it is beautiful. There water is crystal clear. The air is wonderful to breath. The views are spectacular. Actually, there is a luxury resort there. It is off the radar of the celeb crowd and I hope it stays that way.
I grew up in N Idaho and moved away over a decade ago – a lot of people are aware of CdA these days 🙂 It’s not really a secret anymore!
She is so extra in everything she does, he seems to be the same way so at least it’s a good match. I have an irrational dislike for her.
Blackface. She’s clueless.
Irrational dislike is an understatement n idek who she is, i just know that she irritates me to no end.
N talk about being too extra. Oooh, it’s 2016 n i don’t know that dressing in black face is racist as shì’t n nothing funny about it? Yeah right. Guess it got her the little attention she was looking for
Something about her victory dance post kiss seeeems…. off. Like, “I’VE BAGGED MY TROPHY!”
Weddings like this kinda gross me out anyway, particularly when there are cannons going off and drones whizzing by. Just seems like a parade for the warrior bride returning home to boast the spoils of a hard won conquest, her vassal groom in tote. Google “roman triumph” and tell me I’m wrong!
unrelated–but how the heck do we turn off the video commercials on the side of these posts? they are beyond annoying. I mean, i know you have to monetize, but there isn’t even a way to turn them off or mute them or get them to ever stop.
Use the extension Ghostery. Gives play option that you control.
I have never quite understood what she does or why she is famous. The dog on the right looks over it and forced to sit still but in a minute will no longer play along.
Way too much cheese for my taste, but if they liked it, good for them.
Her wedding was about them, their family and their friends….as it should be. Congrats and be happy.
the reception dress is lit. she looks like a real housewife. If I had no idea who she was (still don’t really) and you told me she was 40 or 50 I would have believed you.
Her skin looks really dry for her age.
That is some amazing drone video of their first kiss-and I mean from a technical standpoint. Really well done.
Looks like a fun wedding. The ring bearer dogs? ADORABLE. Good luck to the happy couple.
Ugh!! Enough already! Seems like she has been planning this wedding for 5 years. I’m sick of hearing about it and seeing the pics. Best of luck to the happy couple but lets move on.
Marchesa 2017 had some stonking 2017 bridal pieces.
Can’t understand why Julianne got handed this note-less, strapless, nothingburger number.
I think this wedding is getting way too much coverage, must be a slow news day. BUT, I’m local to Coeur d’Alene and I thought it was super cool that she used a bunch of local vendors.
Of course they sold the pics to People Mag. Celebs have no shame lol.
That’s how she stays “relevant.”
They look genuinely happy and in love so I got no snark here.
That wedding looks like so much fun and they look happy. Mazel tov to the new couple!
I’m just LOLing that Julianne’s wedding is overshadowing the Chmerkovskiy/Murgatroyd wedding that happened the same day and was a tad tacky.
