Lupita Nyong’o went to San Diego Comic Con to save us all from our reality. That may sound like an oversell but it’s where I am this week because every time I wanted to lay my head on the desk and give up, Lupita popped up on my Twitter feed and made me smile. I bookmarked her videos and just kept replaying them after each terrible headline.

Lupita was at SDCC with her Black Panther co-stars for the Marvel panel. As Kaiser mentioned, they played some footage from the film that has not been posted but was very well received. And not just from the fans in Hall H but by the cast as well who had not seen it yet:

^^That is how you react to your own film. Personally, I’m okay that we don’t get to see the footage yet. I do think people who go to SDCC and wait for Hall H panels should have an experience the rest of us don’t get for a bit, kind of a reward for all their efforts. But that clip of the cast’s exuberance makes me want to see not just the film but anything having to do with it. Like, that is the best promo I could see on it. And there’s Lupita right in the thick of it, not holding any joy back. I think I get as excited as they do every time I watch this.

But this wasn’t Lupita’s only appearance at Comic Con, it was just her only known appearance. Lupita, for apparently no other reason than to have the time of her life, dressed as a Pink Power Ranger and took to the floor. She didn’t just casually stroll by the booths, she danced like an ace throughout the attendees. Dude, she owned it! So why wasn’t this plastered over every site reporting on the Con? Because she went incognito and only let us know after the fact. For those of you who can, crank up the volume and let Lupita and Kendrick Lamar’s i take you by the hand and dance you into your Friday:

I want to know how many people saw this and squealed “I remember seeing her!” I think it still counts if you only found out it was Lupita after SDCC was packed up. And you know those folks who took pics with her updated their Facebook statuses the minute this thing came out. But seriously, if you were there and saw this sprite bounding throughout the floor, would you not just feel blessed? Would your day not have been improved regardless of who it actually was? I don’t know or care why Lupita chose to do this, “because I can” would be all I need. Get back to me next week and tell me how many times you went back to watch this over the weekend. I’ve played it so many times, I see it when I close my eyes. I love it all, I really do but I think my favorite part is when she’s dancing in front of the Star Wars display. Don’t know why, just was.

If there is a higher power, She needs to make sure this makes its way into the Luptia/Rihanna fan-requested movie.

Ah hell – let’s watch the Black Panther trailer again to really get the weekend started:
