On Friday, Donald Trump made a speech in Long Island, in front of the Suffolk County Police. The SCP were assembled to make Trump look even more manly and butch. They were also there because his speech was about the MS-13 gang and how those gang members are “animals” who don’t deserve due process. I suspect that Trump went off-script, as he is wont to do, and the result was this quote: “When you see these thugs being thrown into the back of a paddy wagon — you just see them thrown in, rough. I said, ‘Please don’t be too nice.’ Like when you guys put somebody in the car and you’re protecting their head. The way you put their hand over — like, don’t hit their head and they just killed somebody, don’t hit their head. I said, ‘You can take the hand away, OK?'” Here’s the video:
And here’s the video of the reaction shots from the assembled Suffolk County Police. They smiled and laughed like Trump was saying something really funny:
Let’s be 100% clear. The president of the United States directly ordered American police officers to assault people they suspected of committing crimes. Donald Trump wants police officers to assault suspects, and he says this openly and gleefully, in front of a crowd of police officers who openly laugh and smile. Because it’s not like there’s an epidemic of police officers abusing, assaulting and killing unarmed black people, right?
Surprisingly, the NYPD sort of knows that the optics were terrible. The NYPD spokesperson James O’Neill released a statement:
A day after President Donald Trump told America’s law enforcement officers not to be “too nice” to suspected criminals, the head of the nation’s largest police force slammed the remarks as “irresponsible” and “unprofessional.” James O’Neill, the police commissioner of the New York Police Department, stressed Saturday that there are policies and procedures in place that limit the use of force “under any circumstance.”
“To suggest that police officers apply any standard in the use of force other than what is reasonable and necessary is irresponsible, unprofessional and sends the wrong message to law enforcement as well as the public,” O’Neill said in a statement.
Yeah, when even the NYPD – not really a bastion of smart community policing in communities of color – is like “whoa, too far,” perhaps you should rethink your stance. What am I saying? Donald Trump has always been a proponent of abusing, bullying, belittling, assaulting and killing brown and black people. It’s his raison d’etre.
Here’s an interesting/disturbing sidenote: last year, the Suffolk County Police Chief James Burke “pleaded guilty to beating a handcuffed man being interrogated about the theft of sex toys and other personal items from Burke’s SUV.” Sounds like Trump’s idea of what a police chief should be doing.

Jesus effing christ…
also…”paddywagon”? really?
Yes THIS!
Offensive and wildly inappropriate language from a POTUS.
Yes, really. And the rest of his remarks were so outrageous – police forces all over the nation are bashing them – that the ethnic slur just slipped right by with little attention.
What ethnic slur?
Paddy wagon is an ethnic slur against the Irish, implying that we are all rowdy drunks who need to be thrown in the wagon and locked up.
“Paddy wagon” is a 19th century expression based on the anti-Irish slur “Paddy.”
Well that is news to me, as someone born and bred in Ireland I have never heard anybody in my life who has found that term offensive – and I have heard it used many times.
third ginger – ‘Paddy’ is not a slur against the Irish (or at least one considered by any Irish person I know, and I live in Ireland). In Ireland it is widely used as a synonym for the average Irish man.
…which doesn’t make it any less offensive. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ethnic_slurs#P It right up there, together with “pikey”, “paki” and alike.
April, it was in 19th century cities in America. Boston, New York. Sadly, America has invented many ethnic slurs.
@April, here, “paddy wagon” IS a slur against the Irish, coined at the time businesses posted signs like “No Irish Need Apply” and our immigration laws were being created to keep out the Irish and the Chinese. You seem to be focusing on just the “paddy” part. “Paddy Wagon” is for rounding up Irish drunks.
I did not know that. I thought it was shortened from padding, a padded wagon.
Not that I have occasion to have ever used it in speech, but in reading that’s what my mind referenced. I’ll not use it, to be sure, again.
It’s good to get the meanings of phrases and words out, so we stop using them. Like “gypped”, I had no idea what it was meant. Never used it again after being told.
@April I’m surprised you never heard Paddywagon before. I remember learning about it in school (I’m Irish too, so heyy girl :))
My grandad didn’t mind too much being called a paddy when he worked abroad, but he hated the paddy wagon expression with a passion because it came from the time with the ‘no blacks, no dogs, no Irish signs.’ His brothers and friends who worked in the states came up against serious discrimination when trying to get work and were always threatened with the paddy wagon.
It implies that the Irish ‘paddys’ were allll such degenerates that they named their police vans after them.because they were always full of Irish.
IMO, when trump uses that expression it shows that he still thinks of the Irish in terms of the old stereotypes of drunken, fighting criminals.
Thanks for the explanation. Embarrassed to have not known this and won’t use it again.
Hmmm is it a slur from an American perspective or Irish? I don’t know the history there. I was just in Ireland so I’m surprised it’s a slur. Paddywagon was everywhere.
April, born and bread Irish here.
If it’s said by a non Irish person, it’s a slur. Yes it’s a short name for Patrick but it was used a lot throughout history as a derogatory term for Irish people, probably because Patrick is/was such a common name given that he’s our Patron Saint. In the US and UK, where signs such as “no dogs, no blacks, no Irish” were displayed in businesses, rental accommodation (my father was refused rental in London in the 60s because he was a “filthy Paddy”).
As lightpurple says, Paddywagon has it’s own spin on it, and no way should a POTUS be using it in a speech, especially when encouraging police brutality.
Paddywagon is the name of a tour bus company here…a bit of tongue in cheek Irish humour…it’s hardly “everywhere”…
@Nicole, honestly I think it is more offensive to the older generations than it is to newer generations in Ireland.
But it is definitely not appropriate language to come from any world leader, particularly POTUS.
Got it. Did not know that. Learn something new every day. Thanks CBers.
Defeinitely not appropriate then. But what is new I’m surprised when he says anything remotely appropriate
Everything he says is offensive, but I didn’t realize paddy was a slur. I have a great friend named Padraig “Paddy,” with brothers Seamus and Sean, and none ever mentioned it. Lesson learned.
Wow… I’m Australian, but my father is Irish and in Australia we use the term paddywagon all the time, it had never, ever occurred to me that the ‘paddy’ part was a slur against the Irish!
Same, I’m Australian too. Had no idea about the origins of that word, thankfully I’ve never really used it myself, but you do hear it. Thanks for the heads-up, it is no longer in my potential vocabulary.
This is in reply to April. Fellow Irish woman here I’m baffled how you couldn’t have figured out the meaning of paddy wagon by yourself but regardless every Irish person I know is offended by it & should be. Just because you’re ok with this slur does not make it any less offensive.
This is exactly why we don’t trust the police
Trump had a hell of week last week. He pissed off the Boy Scouts, the military, and every major police association. Normal people have to try to that be much of an a-hole, but I guess it just comes naturally to Trump.
And Scaramucci just got fired. This circus is in overdrive.
Isn’t paddywagon like a really old word. People don’t use it anymore. Trump is such a troglodyte. I do beg troglodytes to forgive me for insulting them by comparison. At least they were not completely human then. What is Trump’s excuse?
Errrrr – he’s not completely human now?
People don’t use it any more because it is an ethnic slur.
I believe “police van” is the preferred terminology.
It’s an old word and so are lots of slurs.
Frisbee – so true! 😂
I bet he’s too ignorant to know what “paddywagon” refers to
God. He and his vile mouth are truly sickening. Does this fvckwit have even one redeeming quality? Just one?
@lindy79, I retired from the police 5years ago, we were still calling it the paddy wagon, or ‘wagon,’ then, I think it’s just one of those words that gets into the lexicon and sticks. I am a woman of colour and I never made the connection that that word was offensive to a section of our population. I am sorry for any part I played in hurting anyone’s feelings.
PS, I cannot STAND anything about Trump or anything he says or stands for. As a police officer I treated EVERYONE with respect. I worked within the confines of the law, it got down and dirty sometimes, but NEVER so I could beat my own chest later and brag about how tough I was.
Rodrigo Duterte 2.0
Oh yikes, yes. I didn’t think I was ready to make that comparison just yet but yeah, it fits.
Spot on!!!! And Maduro in Venezuela. They have big violence problems in the country, it’s all over the news. CNN too have a lot of coverage.
ETA: venezuela with state-enforced violence.
I think Erdogan is his role model on this one.
I thought the same thing. Thug in chief. And the police who laughed and clapped just disgusted me to the point that I cried.
I would just like to once again thank all of you jack asses that voted for this dangerous steaming pile of trash. Oh yeah, and we are about to go to war with North Korea…. but her e-mails…. 🤷🏻♀️
“Lock her up”; and don’t forget to bang her head on the paddy wagon door….
Don’t forget if you rough up criminal suspects, their lawyers will get them off. So his goal is to keep criminals on the street?
Its like he doesn’t understand any laws.
Well, since laws don’t apply to him, why should he clutter his superior orange head learning them? He is above laws, integrity and decency.
He is so irresponsible and careless. While people are having a hard time trusting the police, this is the most foolish thing he could’ve said
Yes. For once I’m not surprised that he has zero grasp of the sensitivity, thoughtfulness and compassion required to be a leader for ALL the citizens of this country. Gah.
You lack faith and imagination, he could have said something much dumber.
I’m sure you’re joking but how fu%$ing depressing that the fact that he said anything ignorant and insensitive is acceptable because it could have been worse. That sums up Trump and his rise in a nutshell.
Well given the Suffolk County Police Chief’s behavior, it’s no wonder his officers laughed so knowingly. Sounds like their way of doing business. And they wonder why people of color distrust law enforcement. As for Trump, I hope his head is “bumped” when they arrest him for his crimes. What goes around comes around, and Karma is a bitch. I hope Trump gets what he’s truly earned & deserves.
At least law enforcement nationwide pretty much condemned Trump’s comments.
I hope they remember that when he’s doing the perp walk.
OH YES !
We can gather together and throw rotten oranges at him and not so softly either as we taunt him. It will warm us up for Crooked J and DJ Fredo’s walk.
That was my first thought.
Similar to the time he ordered the crowd at one of his rallies to beat the hell out of any protesters if they saw any.
Maxine Waters:
Freddie Gray’s family probably wants to know if officers will protect Trump’s head when he is thrown into the back of a paddy wagon.
Maxine Waters is my President
!!!!!… and that’s how you do a mic drop.
There you go, and I second the motion: Maxine for POTUS!
Adore Maxine! When she’s on camera everything comes to a halt at my house.
I love Maxine Waters. She always tells it like it is.
Oh my God, Maxine Waters is EVERYTHING! Watch her TELL the secretary of the treasury:
https://twitter.com/nowthisnews/status/890945961878409216?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw&ref_url=http%3A%2F%2Fjezebel.com%2Fajax%2Finset%2Fiframe%3Fid%3Dtwitter-890945961878409216%26autosize%3D1
RECLAIMING MY TIME, WHAT?!!!
Thanks for your compliments about how great I am, but I don’t want to take up time with me!
Maxine Waters for president of the WORLD.
When I heard about Trump’s statement, the first thing I thought of was Freddie Gray, and how horribly he was abused in the back of that van. Made my heart hurt. That officers could have behaved so sadistically just makes me sick. And clapping at his statement, when you have sworn to uphold the law? Unbelievable.
Maxine Waters in my new Patronus.
Trump is making explicit what is business as usual in policing around the country. Bad optics indeed. Combine that level of “permission” with military equipment and training and is it a surprise we are here? We’re in trouble in so many ways, and where are the dems?
In slightly better news
http://ktla.com/2017/07/28/baltimore-dismisses-34-cases-after-video-surfaces-showing-officers-allegedly-planting-evidence/
This is a perfect response to trump’s idiotic performance. I wish Willie D could say it to his face.
http://twitter.com/williedlive/status/891421002407833601
@Jurusha
Omg! I am crying laughing at that! Perfect!!!!
I’d like to think this is exactly what Barack is saying about him to Michelle this morning as he butters his toasts.
It’s disturbing that the police were laughing and applauding that comment. You would think they became officers because they want t uphold the law not break it. It was extremely annoying how Trumps supporters kept saying he was joking. Trump is all about assault and bullying. Why would that change now?
I’d say that the paddywagon comment was a cruel reference to Freddy Gray but I’m not sure that 45 is capable of inserting something that subtle, for lack of a better word.
I’m sure using the word paddywagon comes from one too many viewings of old cops shows or listening to old time radio.
Those cops should be ashamed of themselves. That he said it doesn’t surprise me because I’m sure he’d love nothing more than to militarize the police more than the already are, and he doesn’t think about or care about the consequences. But the other goons there know how that rhetoric puts the lives of their fellow officers at risk, even if they don’t want to admit it.
I grew up in the 70s in a working class Chicago neighborhood filled with cops and first responders and paddywagon was the word everyone used. Many were Irish Americans, so apparently they didn’t realize it was a slur.
So maybe it comes from Trump’s childhood vernacular.
As an Irish person in Ireland, we use the term paddy wagon as well – including a fairly successful tourist bus business called Paddywagon – and it is used as a descriptor rather than a slur.
Frankly, as an insult, I’d be more annoyed if I was called an idiot.
In the 90’s at Foxboro Stadium (Patriots ) security used the “paddywagon” to take people who were so overly drunk that they were starting fights. There’s plenty of Irish Americans in the Boston area, I’m one of them, so maybe nobody knew it was a slur.
Part of that may be because you live in Ireland. It’s a slur against Irish-Americans and somethings just don’t translate.
It’s a word that definitely has ethnic connotations, but it’s been inducted into the vernacular long enough that people don’t realize it. Sort of like how Americans think nothing of saying “gypsy” to refer to Romani groups.
When he used the words paddy wagon and throwing suspects “rough” the first thought came to my head was how the police officers roughly threw Freddy Grey in the back of the 👮 police van breaking his neck. I also remember 45 is 71 yo and was a New Yorker who used a lot of cheap Irish labouriers building his buildings. He and his father got rich taking advantage of poor people. Those days he used a lot of Irish 🍀 men and took advantage of their skills by not paying what was agreed to. Also, as some comments said paddy wagon was a racial slur. I have not heard those word used here in the NY area for decades, at least not in my circle.
Definitely a racial dog whistle for his base. Obviously, some inept creature in his team advised him to play to his base of knuckledraggers since everything else was going sideways last week.
Common sense would tell you that not everyone who has a run-in with the law is guilty or even violent or dangerous. So why rough everybody up? In order to intimidate people? Especially potential protesters?
He’s garbage and every day that he remains in office scars my very soul. I need swift justice. Hurry up, Mueller!
It’s also cowardly to beat up on somebody you’ve already restrained. They might not care about being called brutes but might be less enthusiastic about being called cowards. Which they are, just like President Tweeter.
Can these remarks be considered “incitation to violence”? There is already enough police violence that is well documented and deplored. And not since yesterday. And the POTUS legitimizes it? It’s mind blowing. And the law enforcement officers feel good about it? POTUS has lost his mind. He should be accountable for these remarks.
I just can’t with this man anymore – this man exposed the inner evil of millions of people and I wasn’t ready for that.
I wasn’t ready to see that even though we are in 2017, racism & sexism are at the peak and worse than it was before.
Our ancestors fought soo hard for equal rights such as right to vote and yet, millions of women and minorities threw all of that away by not voting in last year’s election and started a change reaction which can only end in a horrible end.
I see women attacking other women and worse, some are even supporting the sexism coming The Republicans and Trump.
I see minorities ignoring the issues and still don’t turn up voting during special elections and even join the protests that are happening around the country.
Seriously, with Brexit & US election consequences, I just want to not read any news or even want to go outside.
Even though I miss my mother every single day, I am glad she is not around today to see this. She would never have handled this as she always only saw the good in people.
Upsetting time indeed.
Just one thing, voters in minority groups are discouraged from voting and may find it hard to impossible. It doesn’t mean they don’t care. As well for protests either they are working too hard or they know they are more likely to be attacked. If protest is led by people who have yhe time, money and energy for it, so be it.
Exactly, black voters came out in the same %age from the last election. I believe the figures was 94% of Black voters voted for Hilary. This is absolutely ridiculous that black voters are being blamed for this lie that they did not come out and vote. Also, it was twice as difficult for black voters because of the reversal of the Voters Rights Act by the Supreme court in 2014 (under Obama’s watch) which helped several conservative Republican states gerrymander and place fewer polls in black/brown neighborhoods with fewer hours. Thereby, making it harder for black/brown citizens to vote. Lastly, my ancestors died to provide me with the same rights as a white citizen. It is part of that right to evaluate if voting is truly beneficial or if other avenues should be focused on to build my community. The fight for equality is not diminished by that contemplation. Several black leaders over past 60 years have needed to ponder that question and it is something that should be at least discussed within the community.
Oh, so it’s the minorities fault. It’s was not the black woman ( who have not been gerrymandering) who are coming out in drives ( local and national) every voting ballad. It is black men who are not coming out, when it has been shown that they are the prime target of gerrymandering and purging. It’s not Latinos who are more Republican than Democrats because they feel they are white.
You know is doing this crap, white people. And for you to sit here and blame this on minorities. Take your dog whistle somewhere else. I am calling you on it and not other alt right facts you but up next will not change my answer.
I blame white women (as a white woman lol), not minorities.
Of course it’s on them minorities when we white people elect our Id, hello! Like, why didn’t you stop us? 😑
Maya one of the most re liable voting block of liberals are black women. It is a very sensitive subject. Black people died to gain the vote and risked everything to exercise their rights. Republicans work overtime trying to deny them their rights. They do it to all minorities including Native Americans. They lie about so called voter fraud when statistics show it is extremely rare in order to convince the public it exists.
Your implication is that is the fault of minorities like they don’t care and that is not true. It implies that they don’t care about their own lives. Minorities didn’t elect this fool. It is not fair to put this mess on their backs. Poor white people absolutely don’t vote except to shoot themselves in the foot.
Lament their disenfranchisement not their willingness or concern for themselves.
White people have the power and with that comes the blame.
I am sorry but I write minorities and not blacks. Why do you and other automatically assume it’s black people I am talking about?
There are other minorities as well in US..
Joyce Carol Oates has an idea for trump’s next appearance. But, seriously, I have no a shred of sympathy for cultists who continue to support him. Whatever bad happens to them, their fault.
http://twitter.com/joycecaroloates/status/891062944565473285
Ha, thanks. I didn’t know she was on Twitter. I’m off to grab my phone and follow her!
I have been so pleasantly delighted to see that Ms. Oates, JK Rowling, Stephen King and Anne Rice, among others, are using their bully pulpit to speak out against our horror show unfolding every day.
Just imagine Trump at a “Quaker Pacifist-Vegan” convention!!! Good luck trying to get Quakers to cheer the POTUS just because he’s the POTUS. Unlike many folks, they have absolutely no qualms about just sitting quietly for very long periods of time. Silence doesn’t scare them. I’d love to see Tweeter try to deal with a roomful of silent Quakers just staring respectfully at him until someone decides to get up and respond. Respectfully, of course. Then another. And another. And another….
They laughed.
Of course they laughed. They wouldn’t think of it as amusing if someone they loved was arrested and roughed up by a brutish police officer.
I don’t know how he does it. Whenever you think “This is it. i can’t be more shocked, angry, and sad.” he somehow takes another dump on the already massive pile of sh*t that is this administration. It’s a skill, really.
Also, this isn’t about optics. Yes, it looks bad. BECAUSE IT IS BAD! There’s nothing anyone can say to make people forget the laughing and nodding. Jesus.
How a world leader can even comprehend saying this is beyond me. I’m at a loss to even describe how I feel.
How many black lives have been lost through police brutality and just recently an Australian woman who called the police to report a sexual assault is shot dead by a cop.
I fear for the people of the US and my heart breaks for those who didn’t vote for this diabolical sh!t show!
There is enough police 👮 brutality out there that they do not need 45 encouragements. I know MOST police are law abiding and treat people they come in contact with respect. ✊ I also also know there are lots of rotten apples 🍎 in the force. #45 don’t understand his kind of thinking and talking is one the reason police are getting shot all over the country.
I have to say I was very disappointed seeing the SCPD APPLAUDING his nonsense. I always find them very courteous and helpful. imo they should have just hold their 👏 applause.
I literally paused that screen of applauding officers to look over that bunch of morons. There is just one young man to the left of the front row who looks completely unamused and is not clapping. Good for him…he’ll be able to hold his head up
At the Boy Scouts Jamboree, I noticed in a shot of the crowd listening to President Tweeter that non-white boys were looking uncomfortable and not joining in with the white boys in cheering and waving their hands in the air. I imagine there were white kids who felt equally unhappy and didn’t participate, but in the part of the crowd I saw it pretty much seemed broken down on color lines.
The young man in this police video is white…but I hear you. Speaking as a mixed family…we need folks of all colors to become aware when the line is crossed…and crossed it is….everywhere…I’ve seen my white husband discriminated against while living in a brown country…it happens a lot more than one might think!
Dawnchild- not surprised that the guy was white, since photos of the police event seem pretty overwhelmingly pale. Am I right about that? It hadn’t even occurred to me that he might not be white, actually.
I think at the Jamboree non-white kids may have had an edge over the white kids in realizing what was going on, because Trump has targeted them and their families directly. It does seem that how boys reacted depended on what they were taught at home. If their parents were Trump supporters, they were primed to cheer whatever he said. If their parents didn’t really talk about politics, they might just go along with others in the crowd. After the event, definitely many boys and their parents were pretty disgusted about it.
@jwoolman, everyone in the applauding police frames seemed white…and I was hoping to see an unsmiling white face, and was heartened when I did!
Yes…to the Boy Scout jamboree…I do think kids default to what’s expressed at the dinner table, and ape their parents’ politics, at least at first. And maybe, for ever 🙁
And as for those who are hardly paying attention to the sense of the words, or have no particular politics, they are disposed to respect the office of the President and think they’re supposed to applaud at the appropriate intervals. And he was working the crowd.
I found this interesting point in http://www.salon.com/2017/05/01/historian-timothy-snyder-its-pretty-much-inevitable-that-trump-will-try-to-stage-a-coup-and-overthrow-democracy/
“It is ironic but in an authoritarian regime-change situation, the individual matters more than [in] a democracy. In an authoritarian regime change, at the beginning the individual has a special kind of power because the authoritarian regime depends on a certain kind of consent. Which means that if you are conscious of the moment that you are in, you can find the ways not to express your consent and you can also find the little ways to be a barrier. If enough people do that, it really can make a difference — but again only at the beginning.”
I think that stone-faced young policeman was being conscious of the moment
What you say about the dinner table is why the Nickelodeon kids Presidential election used to be accurate in predicting the wonder. The kids are in tune with their parents. The Nickelodeon election and the exit polls stopped being accurate in 2004, which also coincided with people reporting seeing their votes changed from Kerry to GWBush just before they left the booth and other anomalies such as one Ohio precinct reporting many more votes for GWBush than there were voters (explainable by simple vote-shifting malware having a typo in it). I think serious hacking of our elections started then, when machines suddenly popped up all over.
oh that’s truly frightening! I’ve been hearing about these trends being tracked…there is so much to fix going forward!
The thing about Tiny Hands, Bigly Ass, is that his lizard brain compels him to say things that the more evolved shun. He constantly shows us who he really is; that he really is racist, sexist, stupid and corrupt. I sincerely hope that he doesn’t declare war on N. Korea in a tweet. He’s just dumb enough to do it.
I completely agree with a statement I saw on Twitter: “I am no longer accepting apologies from any group that invites Trump to speak.” You know that you’re getting garbage in and garbage out with this man. You can’t pretend you didn’t know he’d say stuff like this.
So much this.
Dear Trump and Co.- I thought “all lives matter” not just “all lives except suspected criminals.” I’m confused now; please advise.
Signed- Lady Liberty
PS- Lady Justice called. She wants to know when you changed the whole “innocent till proven guilty” thing. And she would like to remind you she’s blind, and would appreciate you not encouraging her to judge based on color.

That never happened. And if it did, I will be passing a Bill shortly to get rid of it.

The Donald
Ugh!!!!! Like seriously?!!!! I swear he is Hitler reincarnated.
I really need to remind myself to stay out of any posts having to do this POS!!! I could barely tolerate him when I lived in NY and he was just a real-estate tycoon saying dumb stuff but now as the POTUS???? I can’t. I get so enraged at the sight of him.
Count Down:
Three years and five more months… ugh!!!
The Portland, Oregon police bureau does not agree with 45’s instructions.
I am technologically challenged – but I copied their tweet on Friday – below:
Portland Police Bureau officers are expected to treat everyone with dignity & respect, even when they are a suspect. https://www.portlandoregon.gov/police/article/525131 …
8:30 AM – 29 Jul 2017
Kaiser, Kaiser, a senior policeman was on CNN this morning explaining that it was just trump’s little joke, him being so renowned for his sense of humour…he also explained that many police now felt trump “had their back”, unlike, you know, that previous guy who didn’t encourage police to manhandle innocent people. Another much more sensible policeman pointed out that there was nothing funny about it. Which there isn’t. But it’s part of a wider problem. At the speech to the Scouts, the christening (?) of the battleship, and here, trump shows just how unfit he is for office. The bragging, the boorishness, the points scoring over “enemies”, the whole Nurenburg rally flavour of these events is just terrible. The man is a dangerous embarrassment.
Right now 45 is on tv taking credit for everything BO started. Taking credit for low unemployment rate, the stock market and everything good 😊 happening in the country. I guess he forget that when BO took office the country was a mess. Anyway, I guess I did not expect him to give credit BO for leaving the country in good shape.
Fox has been showing statistics comparing Obama’s presidency to Trump’s for some time now. Those statistics, which look very good for Trump, are from the beginning of their presidencies. They don’t say anything, really, except what state of affairs each president inherited. Naturally, Fox doesn’t put any stress on that!
Trump taints people who enable him wherever he goes. I have zero respect for Trump’s human props who volunteer to stand behind him at his “speeches”. It’s nothing new for Trump to advocate violence but for people who should know better (like the police for god’s sake) to appear to condone that … they are worse than fools!!!
The sight of those police officers smiling like that is sickening.
It’s a sad and frightening truth, but most cops are bad people. I know, I briefly (thank Jeebus) served food for them in a large town. The noise, filth, racism, sexism, bullying and selfish behaviour was unbelievable. You’d never believe the stuff they said to each other, the so called “jokes” and “pranks”. The worst thing you could do was to be “prissy” and “pc”. Good people left or wanted to leave, they were too few to change the culture.
They might say they disagree with Trump, but most of them must love him.
It’s just like every other organization. Once the bad ones reach a critical mass, they attract so many others like themselves that the bad ones take over. This is why civilians have to monitor police behavior and do whatever they can to stop it. When it gets to the point that the police chief is one of the bad ones, the outlook is grim.
But there are police officers and police chiefs who do recognize that the badge and gun attracts bad ones and they take steps to prevent it during the hiring process. It really depends very much on the community, the police chief, and how vigorously civilians insist on good behavior. Cell phones really are a game changer, since on-the-spot videos can be instantly uploaded and distributed.
I keep hoping I’ll wake up and find this is all some warped nightmare. I cannot believe what is happening with my country right now. It sickens me and breaks my heart all at once.
I’m more disgusted by the police than by him, honestly. My mother warned me when I was a child to never trust the police because they are people in positions of protected power; this just cements the importance of that warning.
This is the monster created by the GOP(who decided to pursue a case against Hiliary, Loretta L, and Comey, unmasking, the Russian dossier instead of the Trump Russian investigation), the press(who seem to be suffering from amnesia concerning John Kelly; they have completely rewritten history and refuse to even bring up the Muslim Ban) and the WH press reporters(Kelly Odonnell, Kristen Welker, Hallee Jackson, and all those who continue to show up to the briefings). He is going to continue this bad behavior because there are absolutely no consequences for his actions.
The economy is only “doing well” because the billionaires and millionaires in The King of Lies and Fake News’ Cabinet haven’t divested from their companies and are removing regulations that will prevent their stock from doing well. Remember Tom Price who was being investigated for doing just that?
Like I must think 20 times a day as I hear about things he’s saying and doing: What an a-hole.
There was a Republican strategist on one of the Sunday news shows that actually defended this nonsense. He said Trump’s supporters won’t take him literally, and they’ll understand the statement to mean that we should stop coddling criminals – which is something they fundamentally agree with. We are actually living in an idiocracy aren’t we?
He is stoking the fires of civil unrest. Putting civilians in a state of constant fear and also putting the lives of police in danger by raising the fear of police. Crimes go unreported due to fear of ICE agents and police brutality. Crimes soar. Suffering goes to its greatest heights… this POS isn’t even smart enough to know he’s the damn devil
Christ. How in the world of sane is this noxiousness continuing to happen?
F every cop behind him laughing. F every cop who read/saw this and will take it as a license to abuse their powers. F this Cheeto.
What a sad and depressing time to be alive.
LOL he just fired The Mooch. You can’t make this sh*t up. What a bad reality show.
ScaryMooch is gone!!!! Awesome
So unfair to fire the Mooch before SNL could get to him!!! I mean look how quick Trump ruined that guy’s life. He brought it on himself but Trump really does ruin everything he’s involved with.
Him and Spicey were gold for SNL and late night talk shows. After only 11 days, ScaryMooch left plenty to joke about. They already had a guy playing him on the President Show. He sold his business so he could work at the White House. Another life ruined by working for Trump
I just saw that! It’s the best opening move Kelly can make. Mooch bragged about having direct access to baby fists and bypassing Kelly. I hope he’s banished forever.
On another grandiose note, Grifter Barbie bragged on Twitter about serving “along side” Kelly. Really, you think you are on the same level of intellectual and leadership expertise as United States Marine Corps General Kelly? What happened to your decision for a lower profile? She really thinks highly of herself as she grifts quotes from other leaders and rides on their coat tails.
I just realized, this was Kelly’s first work day. He must have done three things – greet his secretary, put up a family photo or two, and fire the Mooch. Not necessarily in that order.
Don’t celebrate too soon. President Tweeter still loves The Mooch dearly and so is probably trying to come up with a new title for him.
My bet is that getting rid of The Mooch in that position was a pre-condition for Kelly taking the job. Tweeter probably has been getting an earful from Evangelicals and Pence about Mooch’s little interview as well, so he was becoming a liability in such a public position. I imagine Sarah HS is doing a happy dance right now. She didn’t look too comfortable with The Mooch.
Just heard that Kelly had phoned Comey after Tweeter fired Comey and made it clear that he thought it was all kinds of wrong. He even said he might resign from Homeland Security over it. Comey allegedly convinced him not to resign.
So maybe there’s hope for Kelly yet. Still doubt he can do much to moderate Tweeter. His chaotic handling of that chaotic Muslim ban showed that he is into following orders no matter how ridiculous and unclear they are.
Ha ha! Looks like The Mooch isn’t getting to fire all the leakers
Hahahahahahahaha! Now maybe he’ll have time to visit his newborn.

Imagine when the child is older and realizes Daddy found it more important to go to a jamboree with a buffoon and give a profanity-laden interview, during and right after his birth. What clippings for the baby book!
Farewell, Mooch, we barely knew ye!🙋🏻
But this brand new article is still pertinent.

Yes, that was one extremely regrettable fling we had. But we’ll always have “f#cking paranoid schizophrenic”. You smooth talker you.
In other words, so long sucker! Day 1 for the new CoS is going well. But we all know it’s just a matter of time before it all goes straight to sh!t.
So appropriate.😂😂😂😂😂

Goodness gracious. And to think he missed his child’s birth, sold his company – and lost his wife. Mustn’t laugh, mustn’t laugh…. 😁
The whole world laughed at his rude, cocky, vulgar stupidity. He was so embarrassing and ridiculous. Lasted 11 days…laugh as loud and long as you can 😅😅
The mooch is loooossee🎆
While discussing Mooch being escorted from the WH, someone on Twitter said they hoped the Secret Service used a catapult.
I hope they gave him the Rinse Peanut treatment – locked him out without as much as his car keys. Supposedly.
No TV show can possibly compete with this, poor scriptwriters. When we tell this to our grandchildren one day on Halloween to scare them, they won’t believe a single word.
I ALMOST feel sorry for the guy. No job, no company, no wife, no baby, no house, no dignity, and nowhere to hide. Unless you count rehab. I just hope Mrs. Mooch doesn’t take him back.
Is 10 days enough to get a book deal? Or a show on FOX?
The press are giving John Kelly way too much credit. What is also crazy is how the press are ignoring John Kelly’s roll with the Muslim Ban and his testimony.
In a matter of 10 days, Spicer, Reince, and Scaramucci have “resigned”. So will Sarah be taking over Scaramucci’s job? The King of Lies and Fake News had Scaramucci come in and bully Reince and Bannon, fire Reince, and then fired Scaramucci. So why did Scaramucci really resign? Did the business deal he have with China not go through?
I knew that Stephen Ruhle had a thing for Scaramucci the way she was going on and on about him the day he took over for Sean. She said that she spoke to him last night and he had no idea that he was going to be fired(resign).
We shall see how Kelly survives in this monstrous WH, won’t we?
Kelly is in no way safe. Most likely Kelly will be the next big target, getting credit for acting more presidential than baby fists. And baby fists won’t like that.
For this president, all the theatrics are about how much people admire and like him. Nothing to do with our nation and the world.
Ok whose hoping The Mooch goes off on one about his firing?
Me.
Me toooooo!!!! Come on whoever talks first makes a ton of money. Heard Spicy might do Dancing With The Stars. Spill the beans already.
Lizza sitting next to his phone as we speak, pen at the ready.
Love this tweet from Josh Lyman, aka Bradley Whitford.

Somebody said to retweet if you’ve had a period that lasted longer than Scaramucci.
Someone else pointed out that quarantine time for displaying rabies is one scaramucci (ten days). I think the consensus is that The Mooch failed the rabies test and so he had to go.
Someone tweeted this
If you bought milk on the day Scarmucci was hired it is still fresh
As a former Police Brass Wife, I find this so disturbing and inappropriate.
In the video showing the officer’s reaction, the gold on the hats and uniforms are the top cops, the brass. Some clapped and applauded, others didn’t. The officer at the bottom of the screen on left didn’t react and immediately looked to the brass’s reaction on his left. Very telling…
Drump’s remarks were chilling. And condescending towards those police officers who are trained/ educated to correctly manage extremely difficult or life threatening situations.
The WH and Sarah Huckabee (who despite her hardy, jokesy manner is another unhinged liar) justified his outrageous remarks by dismissing them as a joke.
Then they pivot, suddenly act offended by Scaramucci’s hideous remarks. Not because drump was offended but because Kelly told them what Mooch did was wrong and unseemly as someone who represents the presidency.
Drump is a horrible menace who brings out the worst in people. Mooch, you just got played. General Kelly, I hope you have someone who will watch your back.
Totally agree. Trump shows his true colours with ignorant speeches like this.
Le sigh.
Sarah is claiming that Scaramucci was fired because he used bad language. Let’s not forget how The King of Lies and Fake News used bad language on the bus when he was talking to Billy Bush about grabbing women’s private parts and then again last week when he was talking to the Boy Scouts. We know that Scaramucci wasn’t fired for using bad language. This WH is in chaos. When will enough be enough for the WH? Will Spicer return to his job now that Scaramucci is gone? How do Jared and Ivanka feel about their friend being fired?
Wasn’t Sarah defending Scaramucci’s verbal attacks on Reince and Bannon? Now she is singing a different tune. What do the WH reporters think as they listen to Sarah’s lies? How can they sit there and continue to act like this is normal?
This White House is a complete joke but then we have a clown for Presdient.
Does this amount to incitement of violence? Or is it just disgusting and vile?
Well well well. Trump dictated his son’s statement on the Russian meeting. Who leaked this-Reince, Spicy, or the Mooch? Anybody? Anybody? Mueller? Mueller Mueller?
Please come quickly. There has to be so much dirt on this guy.
I saw a version of the header pic without the blur background. Cheeto is looking crazy and those policemen is smiling, smirking. Should use that picture tbh. It’ll sent chills down your spine.
I heard real reason trump fired mucci was that he got more publicity than him. My God, I really believe trump have serious childhood issues – he’s emotionally and mentally still like a child. He behaves like a spoiled brat, he has to get all the attention and if he doesn’t he’ll cause chaos. This White House is chaotic and unstable just like him. He’s really not fit to be POTUS.
It wouldn’t surprise me. But I think the real reason he was sacked was because his foul mouth would’ve been too much for the religious-right (and everybody else).
I think the term “paddywagon” is the least of the concerns here….
This MORON just told police to hurt people who are suspects of something. there are enough problems with police abusing their power as it is. This moron needs to be taken out, it is just beyond ridiculous at this point, every single day there is something new about him being way out of line, like there is not even line anymore to be honest.
I cannot believe I live in a world where a person like this is the leader of a country like the USA, which is supposed to be an advanced country.
Awful
Ahem…Donald…? Is this a smart thing to say when you will soon go to jail yourself?
