In “pretty people getting married” news, Sports Illustrated model (I’d add actress, but…The Other Woman. ‘Nuff said) Kate Upton married Houston Astros pitcher Justin Verlander on Saturday. The 25-year-old bride and her 34-year-old beau, fresh off winning the World Series, exchanged their vows on Saturday, surrounded by family and friends, in an intimate ceremony at the Rosewood Castiglion Del Bosco resort in Tuscany, Italy.
The bride looked radiant in a classic white Valentino gown with long lace sleeves, topping her long, wavy locks with a simple veil. Justin also went traditional in a black tuxedo. The bridesmaids wore blush-hued dresses (and, like most bridesmaids dresses, they were slightly unflattering). You can see the pics on People and US Magazine.
Back in May, when discussing the wedding plans, specifically choosing a gown, Kate gushed to PEOPLE that “Justin is so supportive and I don’t think that he would honestly have a strong opinion in that way. He’s a lover, not a judger.” She called her fiancé “my perfect partner,” adding, “Our relationship is my favorite thing about my life right now.”
Kate told Martha Stewart Weddings that as far as her ceremonial blooms, “I don’t know what [kind or florals] I’ll have for the wedding day yet. I just know I want a lot of flowers. And I know I want the petals already down by the time my niece, who will be my flower girl, walks down the aisle.” Kate decided on a bouquet of rustic flowers, despite the fact that, as she put it, “Justin has terrible allergies. He’ll have to take an allergy pill.” Looking at the photos from the ceremony, it looked like Justin survived without having to inhale an antihistamine, so that’s good.
The happy couple got engaged last year after dating for quite a while. They were on again/off again for three years before staying “on” after reuniting in January of 2014. Kate let the world know she was engaged by debuting her sparkling engagement ring at the 2016 Met Gala. And, as much of a supporter she is of her now-husband’s career, her rule of not sleeping with her now-hubby before his games may have contributed to his World Series win. Talk about a good luck charm.
I never really had much of an opinion about Kate (and I’m a Braves fan, so I feel the same way about Justin), but weddings always make me happy. They look happy, I like her gown (she does make a lovely bride) and I hope they have a happy life. Congrats!

I never had much of an opinion on them either until on Deadspin one time I stumbled on a naked bathroom selfie they took. Something you can never unsee, lol.
Wishing them much happiness.
Of all the photos from that terrible hack, theirs really stuck with me too. I also did not go looking for them, but there they were, and oh boy were they graphic.
Hahaha. You both have me cracking up because I can’t unsee them, either. They were dreadful, yet impossible to forget.
They do seem happy, though, so congrats.
Joe Buck must be devastated.
Well, he survived Jeter getting married.
His love for Verlander surpasses his love for Jeter, as great as that was.
Wow. I admit that I wasn’t paying close attention to Buck and his baseball crushes recently but if it surpasses Jeter then you’re right, he must really be devastated.
I can’t believe anyone still subscribes to the old no-sex-before-games thing, which was SOP back in the days people believed that sex somehow depleted athletes of their energy (instead of just putting a smile on their faces).
She must really love him, ’cause he ain’t much to look at.
“Love infuses beauty into whatever it finds appealing.”
“She must really love him, ’cause he ain’t much to look at.”
I wasn’t going to go there because I seem to be going there a lot lately, but I was thinking maybe he just didn’t photograph well. LOL
I also think they look like Bert and Ernie. Long face, round face.
Looks aren’t everything dear. Maybe he’s got a kind heart and a good soul. And maybe he’s dynamite in the sack.
he’s only 34? he looks ancient.
I always liked Justin V. He looks like Matthew Fox to me. Really, I just came here to offer Corey a sympathetic hug and tiny chop as a fellow Braves fan.
I thought it was weird the wedding was booked the day of the astros celebration parade. If theres an even remote chance his team is going to the world series, why book it then? Why book it that close to the end of his season? I guess i would be bummed to miss my parade and not have my team at my wedding
Lots of happiness to them though and I hope they have a wonderful life together
I’m sure they had that place booked well before he was traded to the Astros. Detroit obviously wasn’t going to the postseason.
I hope that’s the case. The parade had to be held on Friday because of this wedding and so many teachers called in sick for that day that HISD – the 6th largest school district in the country – had to make the decision on Thursday afternoon to close schools for Friday, leaving all of the working parents scrambling. And the schools were already behind because they lost so many days from Harvey. So I hope it’s true that this wedding was scheduled way in advance, because it completely screwed over the entire city.
Stephanie, as a fellow Houstonian, I wouldn’t say their wedding “screwed over the entire city” at all. The parade was held on a Friday because of scheduling constraints for other appearances that the Astros were contractually obligated by (they appeared at a Disney parade in Florida on Saturday and then went on SNL that night.) I’m sure the hometown parade was scheduled around those major events, not the other way around.
People have a right to their lives outside of work, even when “work” is being part of a championship team. He didn’t miss any games, or fail to excel when he pitched. He had a major life event that was likely planned for six months to a year, and he missed a parade, which still managed to be a truly amazing celebration. Perspective.
It seems that, between Carlos Correa getting engaged right after the game and Verlander getting married three days later, the Astros love love.
And now, the rest of the single players should be asked when they’re getting hitched. LOL.
Yay not a strapless gown!! She looks pretty and hopefully they had plenty of pasta and carbs at the reception 🙂
Agree, she looks great, he is handsome. I love this couple. I came on to comment bc I had a feeling they would get no attention on this site.
My heart must be made of stone, because I just can’t be happy for this couple. She’s only famous for flaunting her goods in front of Terry Richardson, and then coyly telling magazines “I was so mad at him for disrespecting me, but it made me rich and famous so it’s ok teehee!” Her image is so grossly over-pornified, and even in candids she looks trashy. She gives off the image that she’s sexually available, but also a blank slate that will never challenge a man intellectually. At the same time, she complains that she’s constantly objectified and not taken seriously. The most disgusting thing about this woman is her vile racism (but she’s forgiven because white men want to have sex with her). Verlander is a class act too because after it came to light that he cheats on her with everything that moves, he popped the question and now everything is ok because we’re getting maaaaarrrried!
I never really cared about either of these two until Upton opened her mouth to try to shame NFL players for protesting last year. At that point she found her way onto my shit list permanently 🤷🏾♀️
Awww, can’t help but be happy for them. Sad he left the Tigers but now he has a world series win and a new wife!
That Boston Terrier in the first pic—LOVE!!!!
Her dress is really pretty – beautiful lace.
