Last year, Amber Rose announced on social media that she was considering breast reduction. Amber is, in a not-so-modern parlance, stacked like a brick sh-thouse. She has curves for days. When Amber talked about it last year, I ended up talking about how I too had thought about getting my DDD-cups reduced but I honestly hate the idea of surgery and I was, at that time, somewhat free of back problems. Around Thanksgiving of last year though, I threw out my back and I’m still wondering if the size of my bust had something to do with it. Basically, I’m still wondering if I should seriously consider reduction. Amber, on the other hand, has made up her mind. She announced on Tuesday that she’s really doing it.
Amber Rose is undergoing breast reduction surgery. The model, 34, shared the news on her Instagram stories on Tuesday, revealing she was undergoing the surgery on Wednesday, something that she was “really excited” about, despite also having misgivings.
“My Breast Reduction surgery is tmrw,” she wrote, adding several emojis to explain her current state of mind. In a second photo, she detailed her feelings, writing, “I’m really scared and really excited at the same time.”
In a show of faith, Rose added a third photo, saying her doctors, Dr. Matlock and Dr. Fisher, were “gonna take care of me.”
The decision to have a breast reduction has long been in the works for the mother of one. In July 2017, the star revealed on Instagram that she had been “thinking about getting a breast reduction this year.”
While Rose waited until the beginning of 2018 to have the surgery, she revealed that the procedure was something she wanted because “my boobs are stupid heavy, my back hurts and I can’t wear cute lil shirts without a grandma bra. I’m really scared of the lollipop scars tho… any advice?” She added. “Are there any ladies out there that are much happier even though you have a breast reduction scars?”
I wish her well. I wonder how small she’ll go? I think Amber’s figure looks pretty proportional right now – her chest “evens out” the size of her butt, you know? You can tell that she was just born that way, with a crazy hourglass figure. But she’ll look cute with more of a pear-shape too – she’ll be able to wear so many cute blouses and sweaters and cute little bras and everything. I’m sort of jealous. I’ve literally NEVER been able to wear those kinds of cute tops meant for small-chested women. I hope Amber takes us on her small-breasted journey!

Kaiser – my daughter had her breasts reduced and does not regret it for a moment. She was 20 when she had it done and it was covered by insurance – may not be covered anymore. With it being covered by insurance the dr had to take remove so many grams of tissue for it to be covered. My friend’s daughter had cracks in her spine due to her large breasts. My daughter’s shoulder joints were really loose and I believe that was due to her having the large breasts and getting them early in life (she had a minimum DD by 5th grade).
Insurance coverage would depend on whether there were other verifiable medical problems due to the breast size, such as the cracks that were showing in your daughter’s spine or a curvature that wasn’t there before. And if someone needs this but the insurer denies as “cosmetic,” file an appeal. Very often the problem with getting insurance approval is that doctors don’t know how to write up the approval request and think that just saying they’re a doctor is enough but they have to document the patient’s need according to whatever the coverage standard is.
Luckily this doctor was pretty savvy with insurance or at least her office person was because we were told that so many grams of breast tissue had to be taken and as long as that happened we would be approved. This was also 13 years ago.
I had a breast reduction at 58 years of age and I wish I hadn’t waited as long as I did. I went from a DDDD down to a CC. What a relief! I literally had a pain in my neck for decades from all that weight. Now I can actually wear pretty bras if I want to.
I am 8 weeks post breast reduction surgery, and it was the best decision I could have possibly made. Weights have been lifted off of my chest.
I recommend it to anyone that suffers.
I too had a reduction, almost a year and a half ago. I don’t regret it for a moment and I’m still pretty top heavy (went from a Gish to a DD). I used to have back aches every day, now I am only sore if I’ve been lifting or carrying stuff.
Ok, she is so incredibly beautiful and just shines with joy. I never thought I would come to adore her when she was walking around with Kanye in those stupid glasses. I do kind of miss her shaved head-she rocked that look. I hope this surgery gives her a new level of comfort with her body!
She really is a beautiful woman.
i think she’s much more striking with the buzz cut. the woman in these photos is pretty, but forgettable. she has such beautiful features but they are lost in all this hair. she really stands out from the crowd with the buzz cut.
Looking at old pics ..looks like at some point she got implants then gained weight so they are probably really heavy.
Yes, i recall her figure in her Kanye days was more svelte than she is now. I could never tell if she got curvier from weight gain or enhancements.
From her many nearly nude pictures you can tell those breasts are natural. Implants don’t look like that. The body and boobs change was due to pregnancy.
I dont really like her that much – though I adore Sebastian, her baby, hes toooo cute, but i used to follow her back then and i saw what seemed like the natural course of pregnancy-weight gain – breasts growing a lot.
I have a friend to whom exactly the same happened.
I’m happy for her. There was a time I considered it. I was a C-cup by the time I was in 8th grade. My boobs are huge. When I worked in Beverly Hills in my twenties, one of my co-works did a Seinfeld on me and “accidentally” fell into me, grabbing my boobs. She then turned around to the rest of the store and said, “They’re real!!!!”
Thankfully, my daughter did not inherit this gene and she has nice, perky small boobs. I’m always telling her to be thankful, because I have never been able to wear cute little spaghetti strap dresses or go braless.
I hope she enjoys her new smaller breasts!
She looks completely different. I almost didn’t believe that this was actually her.
She looks so different with hair.
She really does. She still looks beautiful, but in a very typical way. With her short hair she had an edgy, make-everyone-stop-and-stare sort of beauty.
I hate that hair. I get that she probably wants to change it up, but uggghh.
She’s absolutely gorgeous. Beautiful with a shaved head, but she looks completely different and just as pretty with long hair
Too much eyeliner but yes, stunning. Love her chutzpah.
She’s beautiful and I think she’s had work done on her face, she’s like a waxier version of herself but it could also be makeup and excessive contouring.
She has no problem uploading videos of her getting injections on her face on Instagram, which I find refreshing tbh.
I wish her the absolute best, I hope that her surgery goes well and that she has minimum of scars.
I really liked her shaved head, it was a very cool and unique hair style. Very few women can pull that off.
She reminds me of a porn star with the fake blond hair and too much make up in this picture.
So many beautiful women pile on their make-up with a snow showel, I don’t understand why.
my friend had a reduction and lift and loves her body for the first time in 40 years. she was scared of the scars but she finally came to the realization that the only person who would see them was her and her husband. after the surgery – she was prescribed some time of stem cell infused cream her healing was amazing and you can barely see the scars. she looks amazing.
Best of luck! She’s a beautiful woman, will continue to be.
I think she’s just getting her implants removed. Amber was always busty, but I think she got implants because she wanted them lifted.
Either way, I think she’s stunning and curves look good on her.
As a side note, watch out for a lot of women talking about breast reduction. Small breasts are becoming the trend.
I know this is a personal decision and usually one that nobody regrets, however I’m sometimes baffled by the usual comments about the topic. Firstly,I think spaghetti tops/bralettes are hugely overrated (I personally really dislike them regardless of boob size), on the other hand there are more bra retailers than ever before… there are so many colorful/sexy/functional/cute bras available, even in “weird” sizes like a 30H or whatever, so I dont get why people say they look forward to wearing cute bras after their reduction which aren’t granny ones when there are so many options there days. I think there is still really so much confusion about bra sizes ( B is small, C is medium, D/DD is huge and sizes are constant).
I have size 48G and I’d like to get cute sexy bras, because unless you order from a catalog you can’t literally find a bra my size in a store.
Also the same bra in a DD will cost 20-30$ MORE for it in size G
I have to pay 40-70$ for one bra. That doesn’t fit well.
And even the cuter bras aren’t any where near as cute in a bigger size because they are much bulkier than the smaller sizes because you need more support and coverage.
You obviously have tiny boobs and don’t understand this topic at ALL
AT ALL
I’m sorry if I came across as too insensitive. There are definitely some sizes which are tougher to get, even in online stores.
The point I just wanted to make was that for many larger than average chests, there are way more options available nowadays, even if its not in a department/brick and mortar store.
While comparing to Your size, I’m flat chested, being a 30GG at 4’11 is definitely noticeable, and caused me discomfort and lack of bra options in the past, and finding online options with good return policies and frequent sales like Curvy Kate or Bare necessities was a game-changer.
Maybe it’s just me, but I just never looked cute in any bras. It did not matter how cute they were or how well designed. By virtue of having a DDD, it was like wearing a tablecloth. You are essentially wearing a shirt because of the amount of material. And when I went down to a C cup, I wore no bra at all for a long time. I was so excited about not having to wear underwires or anything that I just went boob commando for a long time. It was so freeing.
I hope Amber’s surgery is successful and wish her well. I like her with the shorter hair maybe.
I had a breast reduction done 8 years ago. While it was no walk in the park, it was the best decision I made. To get approval from the insurance company, my surgeon filled out paperwork, wrote a letter explaining the back issues I was having due to the heavy breasts and also sent pictures of areas such as the deep grooves in my shoulders that developed because of my bras.
After surgery, my upper back pain went away. And being several sizes smaller just helped my self-esteem rise. I could see the lower half of my body better. I did have the “lollipop” scars for a bit. If anyone has a specific question about my experience, ask.
@Abbess Tansy
Thank you very much for your very honest comment.
Would you please kindly explain the ” lollipop” scar expression?
My apologies, I’ve never heard it before (sorry I’m from Canada)
Bailie,
The lollipop (vertical lift) is where the surgeon makes an excision around the areola then goes down the breast. It’s to remove excess skin and for women who have more sagging with the breast. The areola is moved higher, then after skin and tissue are excised, are sutured back together. It looks like a edged circle with a straight line down the front. I scar easily, but these scars have almost faded away after 8 years. There are a few YouTube videos out there about it, but some of the content is a little graphic to post links.
That is what I just did and I agree even though recovery has had it’s ups and downs 8 weeks later, I am feeling no regrets whatsoever about this surgery. It has already changed my life for the better.
Agreed. It was a great decision. The first month though, Jesus. I cursed the world, the doctor, the surgery, my boobs. The pain was horrible. Then that was over and it was and is the best the decision I have ever made. I would urge people to understand though that 1. it will hurt like hell. 2. healing is pretty gross with all of the bandages and drainage, etc. 3. There will be scars if they do a lollipop or what I like calling a stop sign cut. But the scars lighten over time until they are barely visible.
The bf and I know a lady who had breast implants before she had her kids…..They. Got. Gigantic.
She says they are out of control.
Maybe Kaiser consider talking to a good/great doctor. Get more info. Every woman I know who has had this surgery is happy even though the recovery is not easy.
This is a pet peeve of mine. Actresses get breast augmentation (yes she always had big breasts but in recent years she got them done and that’s why they were so big, probably after breastfeeding/pregnancy), then when they decide to go smaller to which plastic surgeons always add a lift, they call it a breast reduction. Then every woman who was born with a big chest and got a reduction is like, “Best thing ever, no regrets!” Which is fine.
It’s the lack of transparency or the appearance of transparency that bothers me. What about all the women risking their bodies and their happiness to have that “natural” hourglass that Amber has/had by getting implants. Why not share with them how that worked out for you? That now you’re willing to have the lollipop scars in order to have the implants removed and/or smaller ones put in. It just reeks of exploiting women who have had reductions by sharing that part of it, because she knows she will get lots of empathy/sympathy.
And to the author, wasn’t it admitted by Amber or Kanye that he used to accompany her to get silicone injections into her butt? As gorgeous as she is, like 99% of celebs on Celebitchy, she is not all natural. To say that she is would be a disservice to girls and women who look up to these people, these are the bodies they see everyday over and over. It’s okay to acknowledge that they have had help, especially when that help can actually have downsides and cause health problems (silicone injections-unless there is another safer thing you can inject into your butt besides your own fat, which is more like surgery- are super dangerous and can cause death even).
I started menstruating and growing breasts at about 10. Hated it! I started thinking about a breast reduction from about 13-14 years old, knowing the youngest it could ever happen was from about 16. I hated myself, and the way I was viewed and approached by others. Because breast reduction operations are costly, scary, and can have many side-effects, me and my boobs are still were we started (bigger than ever) at 43. There are so many clothes I will never be able to wear (like anything with buttons in the front, strapless, thin-strapped), I regularly wear clothes 2-3 sizes above my actual size so the fabric will cover my chest, and, since I’m quite short on top, I will never look elegant in anything.
I’m resigned. I still hate it. You go Amber!
I had a reduction 3 years ago (I am 33) and I wish I hadn’t waited so long. The recovery wasn’t so bad, for me, and my scarring is not noticable. It is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
I’m surprised her doctor didn’t recommend weight loss first. I don’t remember her breasts being that large before she was pregnant. She has a bangin’ body and attitude at any weight or size though. Best of luck to her!
Not a weight thing. I was 120 with DDD. Even when I lost weight, I would lose it everywhere but my boobs. In her case I don’t think she has a weight problem. I think she has a plastic problem up top and down low.
Kaiser, I had breast reduction surgery and even with the scars, it’s one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself. Running is easier, working out is easier, and I feel less controlled by my breasts. The scars fade over time, but I won’t lie that I wish they weren’t there. One of my guy friends said that, in his opinion, breasts with scars can’t be beautiful. It really hurt, at the time, especially because I’ve had those worries now and then. But overall I still don’t regret it.
Not much of a friend if he knew you had the procedure done.
You should do it Kaiser. I had DDD cup. Ten years ago I had enough of the back pain and the shoulder pain from the bra straps. I went down to a C cup and OMG, freedom. I think the first three years I did not even wear a bra because I did not have to.
I had reduction surgery about 15 years ago and yes it was painful but the best thing ever. Mine was fully covered by insurance due to my height and weight and the size of my breasts. I also had deep grooves in my shoulders and consistent back/neck pain. I encourage anyone considering the surgery to go have a consultation – remember as we age and our metabolism slows you will gain more in your breasts so they could really end up super heavy and pendulous. Do it!!!
I am petite but have DD boobs.
I’ve always disliked how easily others can ‘buy them’ but they do come with their drawbacks. They are heavy to carry around. As a petite girl (other than my boobs), I get neck and back pain sometimes, but I do still love them.
I was insecure as a teenager because of them but I think this is why teenagers need to be talked to about these things because you grow into your body and you mentally/emotionally acclimatise too.
She is so stunningly gorgeous! She has such warmth and genuineness to her smile. I always liked her whole look, and as long as she does what makes her feel comfortable, I think she should go for it.
I was thinking of having the surgery. I am scared, though, because two acquaintances who have had the surgery went right back up to their same pre-reduction size within 5 years of the procedure. It was simply where their weight gain happens. I tend to lose weight everywhere else, except for the girls. I would really hate to go through with the surgery and deal with the recovery and scars only to have it all come back. 🙁
i will never understand these people. Surgery to increase your boobs, surgery to increase your butt. Not trendy anymore? Aging and regretting it? Surgery to reduce what you had surgery to increase. Surgery, surgery, surgery. Can’t people just be happy with what the good Lord gave them? I feel sorry for them.
