Whenever you think that America is a sh-thole led by a Stable Genius dictator, just remember that we did one good thing: we produced Michael Shannon. These are photos of Michael Shannon at the Lincoln Center premiere of Waco, the six-episode miniseries about David Koresh. Shockingly, Koresh is not played by Shannon (that would have been fascinating casting). Koresh is played by Taylor Kitsch, and Shannon plays Gary Noesner, the FBI agent investigating Koresh and trying to negotiate his surrender (that didn’t end well). Taylor, Michael Shannon, Paul Sparks and Andrea Riseborough are all in these photos.
Michael Shannon is well-known for his wacky and amazing taste in clothes. He doesn’t like wearing boring suits – he regularly turns up at industry parties wearing one of his beloved Hawaiian shirts, and he also loves to wear jackets and t-shirts from the productions he works on. For this premiere, he chose a snazzy plaid… coat/tunic thing. I don’t even really know what this is. But it’s amazing and he looks amazing in it. He is a national treasure.
Shannon has been skipping all of the awards shows this year, even though he has a sizeable role in The Shape of Water, which will likely pick up a few big Oscars this year. Apparently, he skipped the Golden Globes because he was performing some kind of tribute to Iggy Pop. He was shirtless. It was good.
Michael Shannon does a damn fine Iggy Pop impression. (@MetroChicago for Sons of the Silent Age’s tribute to Bowie’s Berlin trilogy.) pic.twitter.com/HCZHOCmHsA

Also: I would. He is so sexy and delightfully weird.

Kinda happening.
A good looking man in a great suit is a pleasure to behold but I appreciate quirkyness and the desire to not conform to a uniform. He looks hot!
Michael Shannon paying tribute to Iggy Pop. I needed this in my life.
Two CB Michael Shannon posts in the past few days, I like it.
I always imagine him as someone similar to one of my mom’s former bosses…bad-tempered yet never agressive or violent, neurotic yet super passionate about life and in love with what he does. I hope I’m not wrong!
LOL what in the Fashion Police is happening in that last pic?
I will always love him for the awesome Christmas sweater he wore to the premiere of The Night Before.
That picture will go down in history as one of the best things ever.
Michael Shannon is a gem.
I would like to request that we get a daily Michael Shannon post. I don’t care if it’s just recycled pictures, we all deserve daily Michael Shannon lol
Michael used to live in my brooklyn ‘hood and we’d see him around town all the time and exchange hellos. He’s a super nice dude. Once we sat next to him on new years eve for a prix fixe dinner. He was with his super-pregnant partner and was drinking wine for two. Such a ham! He wore a santa hat and kept hugging the wait staff at The Good Fork. My husband and I still occasionally have a giggle about it… he’s definitely a home-town hero around here.
I love Michael Shannon and I’m glad to hear that he’s so nice.
He does not normally skip the entire circuit. Could be on advice, as he’s worked with Harvey a bunch of times (Waco was produced by TWC actually) and wouldn’t respond to requests about the topic before.
Has he said anything since?
I know he was involved in a couple of TWC, one show of his got cut b/c of that.
I first became aware of Michael Shannon in that awful Superman movie, and I really didn’t like him. I think it was the dumb haircut or something? But now, with the stonefaced selfies, the quirky sense of style and the absolutely hilarious comments on Trump, I absolutely adore him. More Michael Shannon please!!
I’m sorry, but if you didn’t appreciate Michael Shannon as Zod, even as Zod, then you can not claim true love.
Zod was literally the best part of that movie.
Haha, yeah it took me a while before I really appreciated him. I mean, I thought he was a great actor from the start (even as Zod). He just didn’t do it for me like he does now that I know more about the man behind the role (and his fantastic opnions about POSOTUS).
More Michael Shannon posts please!
I second that!
He can get some.
His offscreen persona/interviews made me a fan and then seeing him in motion as well.
Thought that if the Best Supporting Actor category wasn’t as packed, he could’ve easily contended.
