As Kaiser mentioned, Sophie Turner is positioning her wedding to Joe Jonas be a proper House of Stark affair. Not only does she dream of winter nuptials, Maisie Williams, who plays Sophie’s sister on Game of Thrones, will be a bridesmaid. Stark standing with Stark, shoulder to shoulder, as she becomes… a Jonas.
Actress Maisie Williams will be a bridesmaid in Sophie Turner’s marriage to Joe Jonas, according to an interview with Radio Times.
During the interview, Williams was asked if she was “bidding for a role as bridesmaid” in her “Game of Thrones” co-star’s big day.
“Oh I’ve already got it!” Williams replied, rolling her eyes at the idea that she wouldn’t be asked. “It’s very, very exciting – but it’s kind of bizarre, though.”
Turner and Jonas announced their engagement in October, but no other details, such as a date, have been announced yet.
Williams added during her interview that Turner will likely wait until after they’re done shooting the upcoming and final season of “Game of Thrones” before she starts making any official wedding plans.
But that doesn’t mean Turner isn’t totally amped about her special day.
“I think she’s already letting her little heart wonder and imagine,” Williams said.
I don’t think Maisie as a bridesmaid surprises anyone who follows the cast outside the show. Maisie and Sophie bonded from the start and have a well documented friendship. They both got a tattoo reading “07.08.09” to commemorate the day they met and they celebrate the anniversary each year. In the early days, they filmed silly Vine videos during their downtime together. Sophie said their friendship had a lot to do with being the same age and having a similar background. The two went through the same experience, as Sophie described, “we’ve had the same struggles in terms of dealing with body image and puberty and growing up in the public eye.” In light of that, It’s kind of wonderful they had their bond to get through such an extraordinary adolescence. Maisie did not give details about Sophie’s wedding but I imagine that’s because Sophie hasn’t done any proper planning. Like Maisie suggested, I think most cast members have put their lives on hold until the series wraps. Which means we get to plan it! I’m insisting on faux-fur capes and a dire-wolf procession as Kaiser suggested. Beyond that, I might suggest ice sculptures of Ramsay and Joffrey’s heads and a red velvet cake of Littlefinger that Maisie could slice, starting with the neck. But I’m flexible.
Speaking of post GoT, Maisie is a little worried about her career. Sadly, she believes she does not fit traditional beauty standards, noting how shallow the industry is. However, she added that “it’s sad that you only get to see one type of beautiful on screen.” I couldn’t agree more and I hope Maisie has a long and fruitful career.

I agree. It’s good they’re putting it off, but I doubt it will eventually happen.
I was thinking the same thing. No shade to either of them. I just think she’s way too young to be getting married and they weren’t together that long before getting engaged. Couple that with the fact that she will be shooting GoT in another country for months…yeah I just don’t see this happening.
That has to be really hard for Maisie.
I’m sure people haven’t been shy about telling her about it, either.
Also, Sansa won’t become a Jonas, she’s just adding a Jonas to her titles.
It is incredibly depressing about Maisie. And while I am fond of both ladies, Maisie is widely considered the more talented actress and yet it’s Sophie who has gotten more job offers.
No shade to naturally beautiful women, but I lament the talent we’ve never been able to experience because of the shallow industry.

It’s amazing that they’ve maintained such a close friendship when they hadn’t filmed together in years until this past season. I wonder is Sophie will keep the red hair. It suits her.
I think it is absolutely wonderful. And I loved all the scenes between them this season because the joy of working together again after not having a scene together for all those years was apparent in both their faces.

@Kelly, It’s not that extraordinary. Although Sophie and Maisie weren’t onscreen together between Seasons 2 and 6, all the sets are in the same studio. So even though it looked like the interiors of the Red Keep in King’s Landing and the House of Black and White in Braavos were filmed in Croatia or Spain like the exteriors in those locales, they were filmed in the same studio as Winterfell and The Eyrie. So both actresses would have stayed in the same hotel and be in each other’s general area for a good chunk of GoT filming.

Maisie’s a doll so she doesn’t have to worry. But that’s easier said than done. However, I know everybody’s not the same but when I was young, all I could think about was stuff happening the very next day. Never mind my career. She’s set I’m sure financially and seems to be close to her mother so she’s really much better off than the average young person. I’m sure she’ll do well regardless.
I mean who knows if they make it down the aisle but this is the least shocking news ever. These two are sisters in every way but blood which is nice because growing up in the industry is difficult.
I think Maisie has the chops to be a great actress and I hope it happens for her.

The same could be said about Peter Dinklage, but he still is able to get movies now and then. He even was recently in an Oscar nominated one. I wish we wouldn’t only use the same old looking actors in movies. It’s nice sometimes to see a fresh face or at least someone who doesn’t look the same as every other actor/actress.
Peter Dinklage has had a fairly prolific career in both film and television. I highly recommend the film “The Station Agent” from 2003.

Aww Maisie is so cute though. I guess I’d feel insecure too if I had to stand next to tall blonde Sophie but I don’t find Sophie to be drop dead gorgeous either. I hate terms like “unconventionally good looking” and I don’t think that applies to Maisie at all. I think I recently saw her headlining a movie on Netflix but can’t remember the title. Will have to check it out.
The tattoos do not commemorate the day they met. It is the day they both got offered their roles for Game of Thrones.
I follow Maisie on IG and think she’s absolutely gorgeous. Her personality is awesome but she’s beautiful as well. Go look at her pics – her recent shot with a red dress and red lips – stunning! Combo with her fair skin and dark hair is so great.
