It feels like this just happened last year, but it was the summer of 2015. That summer was when Blake Shelton very suddenly served Miranda Lambert with divorce papers and they had the quickest divorce in the history of quickie divorces. By the time anyone found out about it, the marriage was already over legally. Both Blake and Miranda moved on very quickly and very publicly – Blake is still with Gwen Stefani (which shocks me, that they’re still happening) and Miranda seemed to settle for this guy, Anderson East. I realize Anderson is happening in country music, but back in 2015, it really just felt like Miranda’s image took a massive hit and she needed to look “settled down” and like she wasn’t a maneating cheater in the wake of the divorce, and she settled for Anderson. Well, now they’re over, according to In Touch.
It is over for Miranda Lambert, 34, and singer Anderson East, 29, In Touch magazine has learned. The pair, who dated for more than two years after Miranda’s divorce from Blake Shelton in 2015, “grew apart” while on separate tours, a source tells In Touch. But when Anderson decided to end things, the source says, Miranda was devastated: “She didn’t see it coming.”
While an insider insists it wasn’t Anderson who pulled the plug, it’s undeniable that the romance upped his cachet. “Dating Miranda took him to the top of the musical A-list,” says the source.
Now Miranda is throwing herself into her No. 1 love: work. “She’s been writing songs and she’ll join The Bandwagon Tour with Little Big Town in July,” the source tells In Touch. “She refuses to sit around feeling sorry for herself.”
To me, this doesn’t seem like a huge deal, but I was never convinced that Miranda and Anderson were some grand love affair, or that they did much besides attend events together and occasionally hang out. Maybe I’m wrong – maybe Anderson was a great guy who was good to her and she’ll really miss him. But everything about them just gave me a transactional vibe – he wanted to make a name for himself, she needed the image of stability.

I don’t really have much to say about this other than I have been hearing his song “Girlfriend” on Sirius recently and I really like it. Part of me wonders if the lyrics are about her while she was still with Blake? It’s about a guy in love with a woman in a relationship.
I only knew who he was because of this site, lol.
I don’t think it’s about Lambert. It came out of a writing session East did with Dave Cobb, Aaron Raitiere and Avicii.
Hmm. Always have really liked Miranda. He definitely achieved a higher status due to his relationship with her, but no…they never quite fit together. I will say he’s not so much country as alt-rock. His voice is really interesting. I hope she can find what she’s looking for. Being single for a bit after this might do her some good.
Agreed that he’s an interesting singer with an interesting voice, but I wouldn’t call him “happening” in country music (he’s honestly more rhythm and blues anyways). He definitely hasn’t hit it big. His music is honestly probably too good to be played on country radio – seriously, country radio wouldn’t know good Nashville music if it slapped them in the face.
As far as his relationship with Miranda — I dunno. I think she needed some “street cred” for her latest album, so she found an East Nashville musician to give her legitimacy. He obviously needed exposure, so it makes sense from his end. She seems like a pill in relationships, so I’m not surprised this didn’t work out.
I have always gotten weird vibes from Miranda. Like she is actually a PITA to be in a relationship and is just an overall not nice chick. I could be wrong. But my instincts about people are usually spot on.
I’m with you.
what is PITA? I’m trying figure it out and can’t.
I think she adored him like Justin Theroux wants to be adored. She saw him as an edgy artiste who also loved songwriting and let her big a rough around the edges whiskey drinking badass who had an earthy songwriting farm in Nashville (although I think she’s just a lippy, flippant chick who can be a bully who pressures cooler artists for their songs). She can be really interesting lyrically in her own songwriting, though.
I think she’s hard to be with. Blake and Miranda used to tell stories about her pressuring him for a ring in a jokey way, but I got the impression she was overbearing.
Pain in the ass is what I was thinking, maybe.
No, I think she really loved him. But Miranda tours a lot. He’s a musician and tours. It’s tough sometimes. One correction, though. Anderson is not a country music artist.
I’m not generally a country fan, if I do enjoy some of her music. I hope she eventually finds the right guy.
I always thought she was sketch. The rumors about how she went after Eric Church (despite him being married) and then what happened allegedly behind the scenes with Kacey Musgraves song, MEH.
I do not get Blake and Gwen at all.
What was the sitch on the Kacey Musgraves song? Super curious!
I don’t remember every detail but basically Kasey wrote “Mama’s Broken Heart” and wanted to keep it. When Miranda heard the song she wanted it for herself and strong armed Kasey into giving it up because she had more clout in the industry.
I’ve never bought the Kacey/Miranda “Mama’s Broken Heart” drama. The song was written by Kacey & Brandy Clark. Neither Kacey or Brandy suit Mama’s Broken Heart. I think that they were fine letting Miranda sing it. They have both acknowledged that she made a hit out of the song.
He’s not country and he’s getting airplay in Chicago. They play him on XRT regularly, and that’s a rock and blues station. They’re known for playing “good” music. I liked his music when I heard it played, but it made me wonder about him when I read he was dating Miranda Lambert. Made me think he was more about celebrity than the music.
They pretty much lived together. It was definitely serious
“Top of the music A-list?” I’ve never heard of him.
I don’t mean that as arrogantly as it sounds—if someone is described as “music A—list” I’m thinking of artists that pretty much everyone in the world has at least heard of.
Meh. He’s moving in Americana music circles making a bit of a name for himself but I don’t think he’s making it in the big time anytime soon. There are too many in that genre that are just as good, if not better. And since even Miranda seems to be too country for country radio these days, it’s highly unlikely the asshats at country radio will be playing him.
Seems to be the two year relationship mark is usually when a couple decides if they’re in it for the long-haul (co-habitation, kids, marriage, etc), or if not, they break up. Don’t know why every industry relationship needs to be some kind of sinister back deal transaction.
ITA with Kaiser. I always felt like, where did she even find this guy?
Also, Miranda’s touring with Little Big Town this summer?! Now THAT is a show that I would love to attend! I could care less about Miranda’s blah personal life, but she is a wonderful singer and LBT is my very favorite (along with Lady Antebellum) Country act 👌
Did Miranda write the song vice? That actually gave me chills. Great song.
She did. And that – like pretty much any song she’s ever written – is pure freakin’ awesomeness. She’s a one-of-a-kind songwriter and singer – and, to be honest, I couldn’t care less if she’s a little bitchy. I love her to bits and all of her music gives me all the feels. She never claimed to be the sweet, lovable Taylor Swift that even Taylor Swift is not. She was always Miranda and, in my opinion, she’s the most talented country lady out there. I freakin’ love her.
