I’ve never been a huge believer in Karlie Kloss as a model. My ambivalence is more towards the “wholesome,” boringly pretty models in the same vein as Christy Turlington. Like, yes, of course Christy is beautiful. But mostly when I look at her editorials or Karlie’s editorials, I’m just like “this is like watching lukewarm soup in couture.” Now, all that being said, this Porter cover reminds me that I absolutely love Karlie for one reason: she hasn’t f–ked with her lips. I too have a thin upper lip and I have no interest in getting lip injections to look like a Kardashian-Jenner. I appreciate Karlie’s thin upper. It makes her stand out at this point.

Anyway, there’s not a lot of interesting stuff in this Porter interview, but if you read between the lines, it definitely sounds like Karlie Kloss and Taylor Swift are not friends anymore. In a recent interview, Karlie was asked about Swift and their alleged breakup and all Karlie said was “don’t believe everything you read.” Which isn’t really a confirmation or denial. So read between these lines:

On her boyfriend Joshua Kushner: “It’s not like I’ve ever wanted to be so secretive about my private life, Carolina Herrera always says, ‘A woman who’s an open book is boring.’ There’s no mystery anymore. I know in my life what really matters to me. I’m not trying to hide that from the world; I just really like having a more private private life. I’ve got nothing to hide, though!”

On friendships: “I’ve built really amazing friendships – some that last, some that don’t. A couple have become some of the most important relationships in my life, in particular, those I’ve been in the trenches with, such as Jourdan Dunn, Joan Smalls, Toni Garrn and Lily Aldridge. We started as girls and we’ve grown up together, and I know if I need anything, I can call them up and they will be there for me, just like my friends from kindergarten.”

Jourdan, Joan, Toni and Lily. Those are the friendships that stuck. Those are the girls who will be there for Karlie through thick and thin. Not those other girls who are only into performative friendships and public girl-squading as a way of mean-girling another pop star. I mean… they’re really FOR REAL broken up, right? So why is Karlie still being so coy in the press? Friendship breakups have more drama than romantic breakups, I swear to God.

Also: Page Six noted that Karlie still follows Taylor Swift on Instagram but Taylor doesn’t follow her back.
