Prince William brought George & Charlotte to the hospital to meet their baby brother

The Duchess of Cambridge has given birth to her third child - a baby boy.

Approximately six hours after the Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to a baby boy, Prince Loki Lupo Arthur, Prince William gathered up his two older children to bring them to the hospital. It doesn’t even look like Prince George had time to change out of his school uniform! Charlotte goes to nursery school nowadays, but no one said anything about her nursery school today, so maybe she didn’t go? I don’t know. What I do know: these photos are super-cute.

Just like the birth of Princess Charlotte, I imagine there was a lot of behind-the-scenes coordination with Carole Middleton. I would bet my life on the fact that Carole is staying at Kensington Palace right now, and that she and Nanny Maria were the ones who color-coordinated William, Charlotte and George all in shades of blue, which is what Kate thinks of as her signature color. Plus, “blue is for boys.”

Apparently, George was a bit shy about the crowd and the bank of photographers outside the hospital, but Charlotte waved like a little pro. William could be heard talking to them very quietly about what was happening too.

Update: Kensington Palace just confirmed that Kate and Prince Loki T’Challa will be leaving the hospital this evening (London time) so we’ll have photos as soon as we get them, peeps! It should be soon – in the next few hours!

Okay, now I want that kid to be named Loki Lupo Arthur.

    You Kaiser, are a wordsmith.

    • Bettyrose says:

If the RF doesn’t go for that name, let’s all protest in the streets! (Or adopt more pets to name them that.)

    • Maryrose says:

You nut ball. I thought that name was for real and they had lost their minds. Thanks for the great joke.

      • Jess says:

Lol, so glad I wasn’t the only one😂 I was like Loki?!? Well I guess they honored everyone that they needed to with their other children and said f it for this one!

      • susiecue says:

I did too! Feeling dumb now LOL

  2. Chloeee says:

Charlottes little wave at the end! Squee. What a little pro

    • Imqrious2 says:

OMG is that just adorable, or what! She has that wave down pat and is already working the crowd lol. Char is going to rule the roost for sure 😊

Can’t wait to hear what they’re naming the baby (and if Kate will put the baby bonnet on backwards again 😏 😊).

  3. mia girl says:

“Prince Loki Lupo Arthur” @Kaiser, you are cracking me up with these names today.

Also, George and Charlotte are A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E

  4. Kelly says:

I love that Charlotte’s not afraid of the cameras. She even looks back on them to give a money shot.

    • SNAP says:

She has loads of personality! Simply adorable!

    • minx says:

So adorable. Can’t wait to see this little guy!

    • ORIGINAL T.C. says:

I think she’s the extrovert of the family and will take after her Uncle Prince Harry. She actually has *fun* when in public amongst her fellow citizens and even the press. Her smile is genuine and full of joy. Yelp Def. Uncle Harry’s mini me!! I can see George taking after William. Charlotte will be the one talking for him and being positive. It will be interesting to see who the new addition will take after or if he will go by the best of his own drum.

      • KBB says:

lol in the video it looks like William tells George to wave and instead he just kind of gives the press a look of disdain. Charlotte is loving it though.

      • Mumbles says:

I remember the footage of the family attending the picnic in Canada with other kids. Charlotte was a toddler but utterly fearless and cheerful- popping balloons, petting dogs, etc. George was far more reserved.

    • Olive says:

i love her little wave, what a pro. Interesting that it looks like yet again, the second born appears to be more suited for the top job than the actual heir.

      • lobbit says:

LOL the only requirement of the top job is proper birth order.

      • Argonaut says:

@lobbit which is why it’s unfortunate that William was born first. Diana herself said Harry had the better personality to be king. I think Olive is just saying that again in this new generation, the extroverted child is second born and not the heir, while the heir is not as into the public figure thing. charlotte seems much more extroverted and George seems shy and reserved like his dad

from what we can see of toddlers of course!

  5. klutzy_girl says:

They’re adorable! And Kate and the baby are leaving the hospital “this evening” so we should be getting pictures in about an hour or so.

… I can’t believe I’ve been staring at this stupid door for hours (again). And this likely won’t be the last time either when/if Harry and Meghan have kids.

  6. Cee says:

    Charlotte’s got spunk!

  7. Chaine says:

OMG isn’t she so cute! look at her waving and peeking over her shoulder! melting…

  8. Feeshalori says:

How deliciously adorable and Charlotte certainly handled the cameras with aplomb. She even looked back for that final wave, no shy Charlotte there. I can see her as Queen of the Siblings! I hope they all come out as a family group when Kate leaves the hospital.

    • KBB says:

You can hear the hearts of the crowd melting when she gives her over the shoulder wave. So precious.

  9. Nicegirl says:

    So cute, yay!!!

  10. Morning Coffee says:

Charlotte with her little wave! So cute!

  11. G says:

Sass level: Princess Charlotte. What a pro! Loved the last look back and wave before going through the door!

  12. Anastasia says:

    Is George’s hair going reddish?

  13. Cate says:

    Their kids are so cute.

  14. ChrissyMS says:

William is so much more attractive in video then in picture. I also forget how tall he is. This is adorable. Both those kids are so stinking cute. Charlotte looks so much like her Grandmother.

  15. Lana says:

    How sweet.

  16. whatever says:

Charlotte is going to be the star of the entire family!

  17. JEM says:

    GOD I LOVE THOSE KIDS.

  18. Citresse says:

Oh I wish it would be Queen Charlotte after William. Look how much she wishes to engage with the public!!!!

  19. me46 says:

I have a feeling Princess Charlotte is going to steal the show at Harry and Meaghan’s Wedding.

  20. MissM says:

If they are leaving tonight then why did George and Charlotte go to the hospital? I’ve just read that they left after only 20 minutes or so, wouldn’t it have made more sense for them to all leave together or just to meet the kiddos at home?

  21. Lucy says:

Prince Loki Lupo Arthur! You’re giving me life with all these possible names, Kaiser. If only! Wills and the kids look very nice today, and obviously the little ones are adorable. Charlotte is a mini QEII!

    • homeslice says:

She really, really does remind me of a little QE2…I would love to see a pic in the future of just them together. Little Charlotte is a total charmer!

  22. KBeth says:

These kids are so stinkin’ cute!

  23. homeslice says:

Oh my gosh, she turns on the steps and gives a final wave! I hope they come out with Kate too when she leaves!

  24. Jayna says:

When Princess Charlotte turned and waved, my heart melted. It was so adorable when she did that.

  25. notasugarhere says:

Goats, bringing over from the other thread.

I have even less patience for these two than usual. Even less tolerance of their fans who think these two and their kids are perfect, strawberries and cream, Disney cupcake, a-freaking-amazing for Every. Single. Thing. They. Do. On. The. Taxpayers. Dime.

New rumor William is doing a paramedics training program. If true? The latest round of lies about starting to pull even 1/4 of their royal weight have been proven false even faster than expected.

    • Lana says:

Why does it bother you that people are just..being postive? Not one person has said they think those kids are perfect or will and Kate are.
I’ve yet to see anything but congrats which everyone does for parents of a newborn.
      I do get your point.

      • notasugarhere says:

There’s a difference between positive and “squee, how cupcake adorable they are they’re perfect”. At least usually there is with grown-ups. The absolute fawning in this thread? SMH.

    • Addie says:

Nota, it’s supposedly a Master’s degree in Pre-Hospital Care, or something along those lines. I have no idea why he would be doing it unless he has plans to resume EAAA-type work. It’s useless if not applied…

I recall an interview where William said everyone on board the heli helped out on the scene. But what would he have been able to do except basic tasks under direction? I can only conclude:
      1. He wants to defer full-time royal work AGAIN (such as it is) so study is the plan. Harry and Meghan can step up.
      2. He plans/wants to work at EAAA again, or in some related area, but is this just another passion that quickly fades once it gets hard? Like everything else he’s started… Or does he do a Masters’ Lite like his fast-tracked RAF course? He will always be a dabbler, will never give up the perks of the position he does not want.

As for reactions from royal watchers, I think it’s to be expected that the inequities of royal privilege is a blindspot. It is more astounding to me that people tolerate the concept of royalty and pay for it! Madness.

      • notasugarhere says:

ie. a professional program aimed at paramedics for continuing education. Nothing that he should be doing, and nothing at all related to royal work.

      • noway says:

William isn’t supposed to study something that interests him only royal work? First you do realize he is second in line to the thrown, and it could be another 20+ years before he is King. Who knows with all the talk in the UK there might not even be a ceremonial King or Queen by the time we get to William. Granted William and Kate may not be the most active royals, but they have time and at least in royal guidelines they’ve followed the correct script with three kids and a family to market. The market part might be new, but it’s the new Royal family and kids are marketable, hence all the gushing.

I know people love Harry, but keep in mind he was the Vegas party boy for a good while, and at one point William was loved and considered a great catch. Baldness really didn’t help him. Still his persona as his father’s and grandmother’s will probably change one or two more times before he probably gets to be King. Who knows he could be the people’s King for following “normal” occupations and helping people.

      • Addie says:

        @noway
While I think the whole circus should be abolished, hasn’t William already got a full-time job as a ‘senior royal’? He’s not just waiting for his grandmother and father to die before getting into gear and meanwhile, has to amuse himself. Since each royal can determine the level and amount of his/her own workload, William could choose to be as active as he wants but to date has been reluctant to step up.
Except as a breeder. Should he and Kate be paid millions of pounds per year for that?

William went to university and had to be helped through as he lost interest/ did no work. After university he went into the RAF where he was fast-tracked on RAF-lite, but almost was kicked out as he did not fulfill the requirements of flying enough hours. But it was a reprieve from royal work. Then there was a 10-week tailored course at Cambridge re. managing the Duchy, never completed. Another reprieve from royal work was granted in the form of EAAA where his work mates admitted he was rarely there and when so, bored. In that job, he never rose from co-pilot because he did not have the requisite number of flying hours.

The above paints a picture of avoidance of a role he is being paid for (via Duchy funds that ultimately belong to the public), plus sheer inability to follow through. Will he be ‘helped through’ a course where his skills are not up to the job? God, I hope not.

      • notasugarhere says:

This is something he could have done prior to SAR. In his twenties when he was faffing around doing nothing. But now it reads as just another plan to avoid the royal work for which he is so richly recompensed in palaces, staff, and money. As Addie writes, it is a portrait of avoidance. One he’s been finger painting since he was a toddler.

    • Milla says:

While the concept of royal family and blue blood is bloody awful, i cannot hate the kids or those who married into that family. Like Meghan or Kate. I love Diana, she was naughty and kind, she was a real person, which is not how I’d describe Charles for example.

But the kids… I am not even a kid person, but they look so innocent and they are. And you can only believe that they will do some good. What is the future of monarchy? Who knows…

      • Addie says:

I sincerely hope that all children of WK and HM (if any eventuate), are encouraged to be as well-educated as possible. Not passed through because of status and then unfit to do anything much except wave. I’d like them to have genuine opportunities and for their parents to demand high standards from the children.

Sadly, the RF has not prioritised education in the past, preferring to fall back on public pay to keep them going. As you point out, this may not be the case in the future so the better prepared the children will be best for them. They’ll never want for anything, but they need to have drive and purpose, something that William and Kate lack.

    • nic919 says:

While the kids are cute, I find the whole “omg Kate got her hair done and wore heels what a hero to humanity” a bit much. She clearly has easy deliveries or else the doctors wouldn’t let her leave the hospital.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

I would not be surprised if it was true – with Meghan on the scene, who actually wants to do the firms line of work, these 2 will come up with another scheme to dodge the graft palming the bulk of it onto the new royal couple while taking the credit for it under their foundation. Once Harry’s wedding is over these 2 will make some sort of token effort to be seen to be doing more then go back to doing the bare minimum once things calm down around H&M.

I’m just keen to see what happens when TQ passes and Chuck takes over. Am not sure he will put up with their lazy behaviour then, Charles will want the Monarchy to continue after him and he must see that won’t happen with his eldest son. I still think William will never be King, he’ll take himself and his family out of the succession – something will give.

      • Aurelia says:

Maybe the queen will outlive chuckles? Have you seen his purple swollen hands. Not that healthy.

    • Lexa says:

Doesn’t King Willem-Alexander still fly short-haul flights for KLM? I could see William falling into that model–maybe he does low key volunteer work once or twice a month (keeping up that skill set/doing something he enjoys) while still maintaining full-time royal duties.

      • Addie says:

William didn’t ever make it to pilot – not enough flying hours. He was co-pilot at EAAA with a fully qualified pilot going up with him. Imagine what effect that has on finite resources in a stressful occupation. William should have been able to breeze through commercial regulations but he flubbed his RAF training too and was almost kicked out due to not putting in the hours to fly/ learn.

But it begs the question as to why William is being propped up financially to the tune of millions per year if he is unwilling to do royal work (whatever that is) full-time. What he is exposing is the very part-time nature of what they do, obfuscated by masses of PR. The charity appearances are time-fillers and don’t need public funding in the form of security etc. If the royal role comprised the monarch’s state duties, the rest would be free (or obliged) to find real work in the world. It would be best for them in the long run.

      • notasugarhere says:

This isn’t a pilot training program. If he’s doing the one rumored, he’s training as a paramedic. Not. His. Job.

    • Nicole says:

So many people fawn over Harry and especially Meghan. It’s going to get even more fawning when they have kids. So why can’t people think Charlotte is cute or congratulate William and Kate on their new baby? Most people would congratulate a couple on the birth of their child, it’s really not that big a deal.

  26. whatever says:

    Kate is wearing RED!

  27. Merritt says:

Princess Charlotte is adorable. Prince George is shy but may grow out of it.

  28. Skylark says:

Good Lord, those Windsor genes are strong. Not an ounce of Middleton in those children!

Since Charlotte is a mini version of her great grandmother (all she needs is a handbag and a hat) and appears at (nearly) age 3 to have the royal wave down pat and more sassy presence than all the rest of them put together, I vote that all the males are bypassed, when the time comes, and she takes the throne.

    • Snap Happy says:

This made me laugh. Charlotte has always looked like the queen to me. The one close-up of the baby today looked like Harry to me.

    • notasugarhere says:

She continues to look exactly like Carole and Pippa to me. Louise is the QEII doppleganger.

  29. Ce2495 says:

The kids are so adorable! Love the little wave 😉

  30. MellyMel says:

Charlotte is going to be in charge of them all lol! That little wave is too cute!

  31. Sayrah says:

    Love these pics!!

  32. Digital Unicorn says:

Cute kids, Char is def the more confident of the 2 – just look at the way she’s waving to the press like a pro with her little royal wave. Loved George’s side eye to the press.

Plus she def looks like QE2, I can still see Mike Middleton in George.

  33. Cerys says:

Gorgeous children. Charlotte’s little wave was adorable.

  34. Grinning mama bear says:

Never leave out an opportunity to provide cute royal kid-pics to the public.

  35. Lexa says:

I realize this is a photo op, but, that said, I do think its nice that W&K have their children meet their new sibling before the rest of the world. Charlotte’s confidence is lovely to see–she really looks like a young Lady Sarah Chatto to me, though I’m curious to see if she’ll start resembling the Middleton side more as she gets older. It seems like George might be shy, but I could also see him just being overwhelmed in the moment or tired from school.

    • Addie says:

I’ve long thought Charlotte looked like Sarah Chatto. She seems to have an easy-going temperament, and outgoing nature. George is uncomfortable, plain to see, and has always appeared diffident to these photo calls with masses of people and photographers.

  36. Nicole says:

Very cute. They make adorable children. Charlotte has her public wave down pat.
Also that blue dress…is it a replica of what she’s worn before? Could’ve sworn she’s done a similar blue dress.

  37. Taxi says:

Ime, very outgoing toddlers can switch to shy around ages 4-5, then ecome outgoing again. Nothing earth-shaking or indicative of future personalities here, but Charlotte is adorbs & George has maybe outgrown early childhood normal narcissism, realizes many strangers are staring at him/them, and feels shy or self-conscious. It’s OK folks.

  38. lobbit says:

Adorable little beans! Charlotte with that wave over the shoulder was too much – so cute.

  39. CatherinetheGoodEnough says:

    OMG, Charlotte for Queen!!
