As we already discussed this week, Kanye West is being messy all over the place. We had such high hopes. Well, I won’t include some of you in that: I had high hopes. I hoped that he was well, that he had found some kind of balance, that he spent the past year and a half reflecting on his next path. Not so much. The 2018 version of Kanye is basically the same-old, same-old. Messy, incoherent, divisive, politically naive, preachy and manic. According to The Blast’s sources, people are starting to get worried.
Those closest to Kanye West believe his mental health may be in serious jeopardy and are pointing to an outburst during a recent studio session as a major red flag. A source who was present for the studio rant tells us Kanye shouted to the entire room, including his team, that he didn’t need a bunch of people with “titles” around and that he would “do it all myself,” referring to the handling of his career and brand. He was adamant that all Yeezy business would be “handled in-house,” meaning by him only. Kanye allegedly wrapped up his rant by announcing, “Yeezy is the new Apple.”
Many of Kanye’s top advisors were unsure how to handle the outburst, and one source tells us, “We are all worried about his current mental health.”
Yeezy’s inner circle is mainly comprised of those who helped him recover after his breakdown in 2016 that landed him handcuffed to a hospital bed and caused the cancellation of the Life of Pablo Tour. However, we’re told Kanye West is now distancing himself from those same people. It’s unclear what prompted the sudden change of heart about his confidantes, but those closest to the star believe he may be suffering from another “episode.”
Our sources say that Kanye’s recent public comments aren’t “making a lot of sense” to his team, who first thought his downpour of tweets and faucet of thoughts were just PR for his upcoming album. We’re told his friends and advisors now believe he may be spiraling into a dark place.
There’s more in that piece, about how his team was really disturbed by his conversation with Ebro (the radio host) and his political conservatism and such. After The Blast published that story, People Magazine published a flurry of stories about how Kanye and Kim might be at some kind of breaking point:
According to multiple sources, Kanye West has cut off contact with multiple people in his inner circle, including his managers, lawyers and closest friends — and he’s also had multiple arguments with his mother-in-law Kris Jenner.
“He’s had huge blow-ups with Kris. She sees how erratic he’s acting and is most concerned about her daughter’s brand. She’s also trying to be a good mother-in-law, so he’s having explosive issues with her too,” a source close to the situation tells PEOPLE exclusively. “Everyone is really, really worried.”
A source close to the rapper contends that while West can be “eccentric and erratic,” not everyone sees his latest actions as cause for concern. Says the source: “A lot of this is just Kanye. He’s always been like that. He stirs the pot.”
Kardashian West playfully responded to her husband on social media, but the source close to the situation says it was an attempt to take charge. “Kim is trying to control him and the situation, but he can’t be controlled,” says the source about the couple, who are parents to 3-month-old Chicago, Saint, 2, and North, 4½. “She’s trying her best to support him on social media and show a different side of things, but it’s just not working. He genuinely believes he’s God and a genius and that he can do everything on his own. He has a great love for Kim, but in his mind he doesn’t think Kim is a genius, and he’s telling her he knows what he’s doing,” adds the source.
A West insider says the entertainer, 40, is “sleeping very little” and “texting at all hours of the day or night” and has been exhausting those around him.
“It’s very hard to deal with,” says the insider. “He’s all over the place. If you can’t be part of his creative genius, he’ll cut you loose. That’s what he says.”
The source close to West — who says the rapper “seemed great” and “super positive” on the phone last week — acknowledges the star is someone who “revs really high and is really active and expends a lot of energy” on his projects, but insists that’s just how he is.
“That’s part of being Kanye,” says the source, who feels West was recently taken advantage of for radio publicity. “He’s willing to take risks with his public persona. He doesn’t take it as serious as the internet takes it.”
Some of you took issue with my description of Kanye as mentally ill, and possibly (likely) bipolar. To be clear, I meant no offense: this was just an amateur armchair diagnosis, and that guesswork-diagnosis is just me not knowing how to describe what we’re witnessing. To me, Kanye’s highs and lows have always had a manic/depressive cycle. And he’s talked about his mental health in interviews and in his music.
As for his “team” – the last time anyone checked, Kris Jenner was his de facto manager. He’s apparently cut ties with everybody else. I dunno… watch this space.

Kris is “most concerned with her daughter’s brand.”
What? I mean, this isn’t surprising. But dang this family.
I hope he gets some help soon. It’s so hard to watch someone spiral like that.
Kris is Satan.
She’s throwing him under the bus Kardashian style. Whatch the divorce coming. Kim is going to clean him dry. Kanye, man, we warned you…
The People Magazine article woke Satan the hell up this morning. She is tweeting, lies, lies, lies……not true! Generally, when something is cooking at the Kardashians, they let it go until it blows over. But PMK is burning up her phone this morning. She really is getting too old for this drama. Time for Khloe to pop up again, it’s been a couple days now. How do they survive.
I noticed that too, the brand is more important that the well being of the father of her grandkids.
Shocker! Said no one, ever. It’s Kris Jenner saying this. The one who said, “Kim’s sex tape release was a nightmare.” Yes indeedy doodad, one that had you squirming all the way to the bank. Every dollar this family sits on owes it existence to this “leaked” sex tape. Who the hell is she kidding? Worried about her daughter’s brand? There are no words …
the best thing for him is to leave his family behind. what kind of father can he really be if he is so volatile. maybe a break for him to get his act together
People with mental conditions, even those who have outbursts and periods of mania/lows can be a great parent. As a parent w bipolar I deeply resent your comment.
The best thing for him to do is to stop and look at his actions and how they are affecting everyone else. He needs some serious reflection.
Thousands of people with mental illnesses successfully parent every day. Not only that, but they also have jobs, interact with society and go about their business with no negatives effects. 1 in 4 people will have a mental illness IN ANY GIVEN YEAR. We are all around you and the majority of us don’t cause any problems.
Of course, there are those people who should never be a parent due to their own personal selfishness, and I feel like Kanye falls into that category (from my own armchair diagnosis). Now that the children are here though, he could be a great parent if he just recognized what his behavior is doing to his family.
Laura, it seems like (again armchair diagnosis) he may be in a manic state. That’s not really conducive to stopping and looking at your actions. Like any other disease, yes, people can function with mental illness – if they take the meds that work for them or see their therapists or control their stressors. I’ve heard shrinks talking about adjusting meds for bipolar so the person feels a little bit “up” so they don’t cut out their meds. I can see how it would spiral out of control- if one’s in a manic state they would feel like they can do anything so what do they need the meds for?
not sure how long ago he posted it, but Kanye posted a pic of him on his insta wearing a MAGA hat, posing with two white men, one of whom is flashing a White Power symbol.
damaging to her brand? you betcha!
Not trying to be an arm chair psychologist but I wouldn’t be surprised if he was bipolar or somewhat narcissistic (delusions of grandeur i.e. believing he is a God etc.) Lots of people who are bipolar gravitate to the entertainment industry. It’s one of the few industries where there manic phases can have free reign. In art, music and creativity, this kind of manic energy can be well expressed, however in day to day life it proves more problematic. It’s often just called ‘having an artistic temperament’ but a lot of the world’s artists have battled with mental illness – it’s just well hidden in that domain.
This. I avoid arm chair diagnoses as well, but living with mental illness myself shows me a lot of red flags here. This kind of mania can only end in one way, without help.
I think he was diagnosed Bipolar last time, this sounds more like a manic episode than anything.
It was never confirmed that he was diagnosed as bipolar (although he may be). From Page Six: Kanye West was hospitalized for an alleged nervous breakdown in 2016, but there may be more to his struggles than that. West, 40, reportedly told Hot 97 host Ebro Darden that he was suffering from opioid addiction at the time.
A good friend of mine was diagnosed with schizotypal personality disorder some years ago. It is similar to bi-polar, perhaps that’s what’s affecting Kanye – here’s a description:
Schizotypal personality disorder (STPD) or schizotypal disorder is a mental disorder characterized by severe social anxiety, thought disorder, paranoid ideation, derealization, transient psychosis, and often unconventional beliefs.
Schizotypal is not really the same as bipolar. Bipolar has much more to do with mood. The only similarity is that when the mania or depression gets really, really bad, hallucinations and delusions can kick in.
Kanye has had issues but the Kardashian curse has worsened his case. Thenic in me thinks it’s a PR stunt ochestrated by the Kardashians.
Just a question but didn’t he go through one of these type periods when he released “The Life of Pablo”? Maybe by isolating himself ,which he seems to do when he puts together an album), is not a good thing.
Kanye being an a**hole is actually not Kim’s fault.
It’s not her fault, but it certainly isn’t helping. Maybe he’s just sick of her antics (famewh**ing!!!!!)
You’re going to blame his actions on her? He’s a big boy now, he doesn’t get to blame anybody else for his actions.
His being sick of her antics (which I doubt, given his own track record of attention-seeking behavior) wouldn’t drive him to become a Trump-supporter though.
“Maybe he’s sick of her antics (famewhoring).” Yes, because Kanye is so shy and reserved, hates the limelight, and just wants to live a quiet, reserved life, free of fame and publicity. /sarcasm.
You can’t be serious that you think Kanye is sick of the way KIM puts herself out there.
Yeah, I feel like this is standard operating procedure before a split. Drum up lots of sympathy for Kim/Khloe/Kourtney by exposing how truly awful Scott/Tristan/Lamar/Kris/Kanye are and all the cheating, lying, drinking, and bad behavior they’ve put up with while acting like they are in perfect relationships… and then make a break for it and cry about it all over their TV show.
Obviously Kanye needs an intervention. Having dated a bipolar person before, it’s pretty clear to me that Kanye is off his meds and in a manic phase. He needs help. I actually think Kim will stay with him, but I do see the groundwork being laid by Kris if she decides to leave.
peacee — the Kardashian approach may not be effectively helping, but they can’t be blamed for his condition. I do think they have an unproductive attitude toward mental illness in general, judging by the way they’ve dealt with Rob. Especially Kim. But it really is not unusual for family to not understand what’s going on and why, and to think that the person just has to pull themselves together and all will be well.
They wouldn’t expect someone to be able to walk on a broken leg or talk themselves out of a diabetic coma, but when the problem is inside the brain they get all do-it-yourself-you-lazy-bum. They have no idea what the person with a brain disorder is dealing with and also have no idea what they can actually do to help. It’s really difficult when the disease can affect behavior so radically. And sometimes nobody really knows much about what can help, in spite of advances in recent decades.
He’s manic. It’s not a mystery illness. He has bipolar disorder and sounds non-compliant, which isn’t unusual. He needs crisis meds.
I agree. The worst thing anyone in his life can do right now is say: “That’s just Kanye” and brush it off.
I am not a mental health professional, but I have witnessed this type of behavior in my personal life and it does sound like he needs medical intervention.
If someone has diabetes and starts to go into insulin shock, nobody says “Oh don’t mind that…that’s just Sharon being Sharon again”.
Yeah. Acute mania is actually considered a medical emergency. I just hope Kim’s brand survives. 🙄
yeah, this is beyond “just kanye.” one look at his twitter shows he is not well, manic and grandiose tweets left and right for hours on end. i follow him and have watched the tweets appear in real-time. it’s crazy and not at all like he used to be on twitter, when he still had a sense of humor.
it’s sad to see. he is such a talented guy – his “my beautiful dark twisted fantasy” album in particular is a triumph.
I wonder if he feels like he can’t write an album or be creative when he’s on his meds, so he goes off of them when he’s writing/recording. Like he thinks that what makes him such a creative genius is the manic episodes and the mental illness. That seems to happen to a lot of artists who either have mental illness or an addiction—they feel they can’t be creative or artistic if they’re sober or mentally stable.
I agree. As with many people who are bipolar once they get on medication and start feeling good they think they can stop the medication later down the road and be fine. The illness doesn’t work that way, you have to continue your meds if you want to stay stable. So being bipolar myself, I think Kanye went off his meds because he was feeling better and he’s now manic. There’s my armchair diagnosis.
Yes. He needs to go see his his doctor. And I’m sure they’ve all been trying to get him to do that but clearly he’s not responding. Poor dude.
They need to sneak up on him and shoot 10mg Olanzapine and 2 of Lorazepam into his glute.
I would agree Luna. On an upswing now but look out when the low hits!!
Alas, it would be illegal to force (or sneak) even prescribed medication that the person would approve of if not in the midst of an episode. A friend whose daughter has schizophrenia and goes off her meds periodically felt really frustrated by this. But if somebody ever tries to force meds on us against our will, we’ll appreciate the law. Check out the history of Soviet psychiatry for a hint why.
I do think Kanye is a hazard to his children when he’s like this. It’s really scary when your parent is off the rails for any reason, especially when you’re tiny. Everybody is different even when off their meds, so that’s not a universal problem. And plenty of people are compliant with their medication schedule and also get themselves to the doctor when they feel an episode beginning to emerge or pay attention when friends or family warn them based on the signs. Kanye is not that type of person. He just keeps spiraling, not listening to anybody.
So when Kanye goes off the rails — he goes way, way off the rails. I wouldn’t trust him unsupervised around the kids in his current condition. They’re just too small. He would be devastated if he inadvertently hurt one of them in such a state. I’m sure Kim finds it difficult also, but she’s a grownup and can handle herself. Kanye may have a general problem of being in denial about the seriousness of his disorders. He needs to know at gut level that relying on the medications to stabilize his condition is no worse than relying on crutches or a wheelchair if you break a leg or are paralyzed, or relying on insulin if you’re diabetic.
It can be difficult to find a combination of therapies that work (not everybody responds well to drugs) and side effects can be very difficult. Plus “mental illness”, although really a physical illness that happens to affect behavior because the brain is involved, can trash your judgment. So when you’re doing okay, you have to truly believe that you can’t take the risk of skipping your meds. The time to prevent slipping into such manic episodes is before you skip a dose, not afterward. You won’t see clearly afterward.
Jwoolman, you’re correct. Even as inpatients, you can only give emergency meds if there is danger. Giving meds over objection takes a trial and a judge signin off. I feel bad for everyone involved.
You know, I do legitimately feel bad for Kim and the kids (not so much Kris). That has to be a really difficult balance- thinking of your husbands health/wellbeing and the safety of yourself and your kids, AND supporting him publicly no matter what’s going on being closed doors. And to add to that- I don’t think it’s horrible to think of her career as well (just hopefully not as highly as the health of your family). If your grown adult husband refuses medical care (mental health care) and you’ve tried forcing him, how many options does she have? She could have him forcibly committed like a few years ago but that really seems like a last resort. Plus getting ripped to shreds in the press when he has a manic episode like it’s her fault? I dunno, I don’t envy her position.
Living with a family member with a serious mental illness can be very difficult but, to some degree, I think she has been in denial about it or still remains focused on what she wants as opposed to what is needed. Bringing another baby into the mix so soon after his last round of problems, just because she always wanted three kids, may not have been the best decision for any of them. Those kids are going to have to deal with this their entire lives. I was at dinner last night with a family friend who has a bipolar son and what he has put her and her family through was so very sad. She wept over what her son had said and done to his siblings. But her son, during one of his stable periods, had a vasectomy because he knew he didn’t want to subject a child to his bad phases.
Agree. She wanted three kids and now she will dump him.
Surprise, Kimmie! Bipolar can be inherited, just like the money….
I don’t feel bad for her. His behavior has been OTT for years before she got with him. And even after his scary recent breakdown, she chose to bring another child into this family and his orbit.
Kim probably never has even thought about the possibility that his problems are genetic. Some mental illnesses do run in families, just like diseases that don’t affect behavior. Kim needs to get educated about signs to check out in her children. Some mental illnesses start to emerge even before puberty, although often puberty/young adulthood are the riskiest times.
“She sees how erratic he’s acting and is most concerned about her daughter’s brand.” Because Kim’s “brand” is the priority here. And since it came from People, guessing Kris is the source?
The statement “Kris Jenner is most concerned about her daughter’s brand” tells it all. She’s not concerned about her daughter or grandkids. Just how Kanye’s mental illness may affect the brand. Ugh….
Kanye is one of those people who I don’t like, but find myself rooting for. That makes no sense, I realize.
I get it. Kanye’s body of work makes me long for the old, more stable? Kanye
Chicago West’s birth and naming did not get as much attention as Kylie and Khloe having their babies. Khloe’s relationship troubles with Tristan Thompson is also getting alot of attention.
Makes sense that the rumours of trouble in Kimye’s relationship would start coming to the surface. If Kanye’s album is not a success, just watch for more stories of trouble between Kim and Kanye to surface. Kim (and PMK) like being the centre of attention.
Wash, rinse, repeat
It’s probably all BS. Everything this whole klan, including Kanye does calculated. What can get them the most exposure!!!! I’ll bet there might be a new porno in the works.
No need for a porno, Kim’s naked torso is all over TMZ. The one picture of her naked is just not a good picture. Normally her nudes are fairly well done but this one isn’t one of them.
According to the website her new perfume will be in a bottle of the same shape. This woman is going to be shoving her naked body in our face for the next twenty years, isn’t she?
Have thought the same thing. I’ll read the Daily Fail now and again, noticed Kim’s latest naked/lingerie line posts were midway down the feed.
I love that she had to make sure the part of trying to be a good mother in law got in there. That it is secondary is no mistake. The only worry that PMK has is thinking about how she can spin someone else’s breakdown for her family’s personal gain.
Karma also begins with a K.
Fingers krossed.
As someone that does treat mental illness for a living there are red flags here. However not knowing anything beyond the veneer of celebrity means there’s no way to diagnose him. There’s so many things that go into diagnoses and gossip stories and outward behaviors is not it.
And this isn’t pointed at CB but just in general. I said the same thing when people said trump was obviously mentally ill. That’s a dangerous slippery slope
A lot of people disagree with you, specifically about naming Trump what he is. Including other mental health professionals. Check out Propane Jane on twitter.
That’s fine they can disagree. But the amount of work and interviewing it takes to reach a good clinical diagnosis is a lot. I’m not into slapping labels on people I have no contact with clinically. Can I say he displays traits consistent with something? Sure. But I wouldn’t say “in my clinical judgment this person has blank”. First of all that questionable from an ethics standpoint and second it’s just further stigmatizing those that do have a mental health diagnosis. People throw around words like bipolar and depression without actually knowing what that means
And not all health professionals are the same. Look how many ‘doctors’ perform horrible plastic surgery on people. They’re still trained plastic surgeons. Doesn’t mean that they’re working completely on the up and up.
I agree with Nicole, here. I don’t think it’s appropriate for anyone to make a diagnosis without actually seeing a patient. And anyone who does so publicly, I’m going to question. I don’t think it’s professional behavior, and it’s relatively dangerous.
I agree, Nicole, with your thoughts on both Kanye and Trump.
Plus remember when everyone in 2016 was saying that Kanye had a mental breakdown and used that as “proof” that he suffers from a mental illness? Well Kanye recently said that he was admitted to treatment due to an opioid addiction so…either he lied to cover up for a mental issue or he really battles with addiction problems.
And on that note, another important thing to consider: addiction can manifest itself in EXTREMELY erratic behavior and lots of dramatic highs and lows.
Yep or it can be both. But clinical judgment is reserved for people I can see. I’m not making a judgment in my professional opinion about someone i’ve never seen. Also armchair psychology is so dangerous. We had a talk about this in class about the differences in how pop culture presents an illness versus what it actually is.
Wildly different.
I could not agree more. I would hesitate to imply addiction as well, but he himself has claimed as much. I really do think the armchair diagnoses that are so common on this site is a dangerous game to play.
Many good points, Nicole and Kitten. Well said.
A professional has to be more careful, but it is not wrong to try to come up with reasons for a pattern of behaviors. I don’t really care if Trump fits the current medical definitions of mental illness or malignant narcissist with sociopathic traits (the criteria keep shifting anyway). Looking for possible labels helps us figure out what is going on. With a label on the table, we can read about the various possibilities and check out stories told by people who have lived closely with people with actual diagnoses.
Definitely looking at Trump’s behavior through such lenses helps make things fit together, and gives us ideas about to handle the situation. He is missing some important things like empathy. He has a lifelong pattern of vindictiveness that has been described both by himself and people in contact with him. He is impulsive to an astonishing degree. He is self-absorbed to the max and seems to lack bonding to his children (again, life-long). He lies frequently, even about things that are easily checked. His language skills have seriously deteriorated over the past few years. He doesn’t seem able to pick up much new information and may not be understanding some questions he is asked. He doesn’t get much sleep, which might no longer be a normal pattern for him and so his behavior may be affected by serious sleep deprivation. For all we know, he could be badly affected by various prescribed and unprescribed drugs. We’re not entirely sure how well he can actually read.
Some of these things certainly suggest disorders localized in his brain. Some of our important human traits such as empathy seem to be actually centered in specific areas of the brain — if they are damaged or undeveloped, we lack those traits. While all this might make for an annoying neighbor or an obnoxious and destructive spouse or parent, all together they are downright dangerous in a POTUS with absolute authority to launch nuclear missiles (no consultation or other authorization needed) as well as the ability to get us into other types of wars and to do all sorts of other destruction by signing executive orders.
Clearly this is not normal. It would be irresponsible not to talk about what Trump’s behavior means and what can be done about it, how people around him might act to mitigate his disordered behavior no matter what diagnostic label is pinned on him. I think mental health professionals have begun to reach that conclusion also, hence their increased willingness to diagnose at a distance. Certainly they have more opportunities to observe Trump’s behavior than with their normal clients because he is in front of the camera so often, now and earlier in his life (for comparison).
“I don’t really care if Trump fits the current medical definitions of mental illness or malignant narcissist with sociopathic traits (the criteria keep shifting anyway). Looking for possible labels helps us figure out what is going on.”
Except these things aren’t always neat and tidy in ways that stand out to people. And acting on the assumption that they are poses a danger to mentally ill people as a whole, not just the one or two of them who behave in ways we don’t like.
I know everyone wants to find reasons for why Trump is the way he is, but personally, it seems like everyone scrambles to diagnose white men with some sort of psychopathy as an “explanation” for their behaviour when the reality is simply that they behave the way they do because they have never been expected to behave otherwise. Trump lacking empathy is hardly “not normal” in a society where most white men, especially rich white men of Trump’s ilk, are not taught to be empathetic or compassionate towards other people. This is hardly a mental disorder–its a function of a society which fundamentally prioritizes selfishness. I guarantee you that most rich white men behave in ways that are startlingly similar to Trump, and yet no one diagnoses them with mental illnesses because the one thing they’ve learned that Trump never bothered with was when to keep their mouths shut.
Obviously Kanye isn’t white, but speculating about what his issues might be is dangerous on a whole other level in this case, especially when you consider the opposite side of the mental illness coin and realize the ways in which it’s historically been weaponized against black people. In the case of black men, mental illness is either used to portray them as dangerous and as something that necessitates violence in order to be dealt with, or it’s seen as an excuse to infantilize them but in a way that simultaneously dissolves them of responsibility while also removing their autonomy as people.
But in both of these cases, acting as if either Trump’s or Kanye’s speculated mental illness either exists in a vacuum, or that its symptoms are entirely driven by their mental illness and not at all shaped by their position in life is incorrect. Kanye’s opinions didn’t form spontaneously as a result of his mental health. Neither did Trump’s.
Realizing that these things are much more complicated than they seem, and deserve a level of discernment that we as spectators and non-mental health professionals cannot provide is important. Otherwise, we risk perpetuating things that are untrue and irresponsible to believe.
Nicole as a (non diagnosing) mental health professional I agree with you 100%
I feel like he’s the type of person who feels that they don’t need sleep. Like it’s a part of his creative process. Like Dali. Except he’s not Dali. He’s just driving himself crazy and destroying his life. I feel bad for him.
The problem with this is – He is hecking Kanye West, pop superstar and respected musician. Why be Dali when you already are Kanye?
Seriously? Kanye wishes he was Dali. He is an icon in his own right, but let’s not go that far.
@Belle I was not insinuating that Kanye was better than Dali, simply that he was already good enough as who he is.
Friends are worried about his mental health? No shit. I don’t know what he’s dealing with but someone needs to do something to get him evaluated and get some help before his train leaves the track completely.
And what has Kim been up to? Posting pics of her shaved crotch on the internet as “advertising” for her new fragrance. This chick needs to go help her man.
No she does not.
Women are always told to fix men, and to feel sorry for men. From personal experience, I do the opposite. And I teach my young nieces to do the opposite.
Do not allow them to destroy you. And run. Run like the wind.
Except she is his wife now and the only real family he has left. My brother has a mental illness. And my mother is always there for him and stays on top of him to make sure he takes his meds on a regular basis and be his support when he may feel like he is spiraling down. I get what you’re saying, but people with mental illness need a support system to help them get through. That is supposed to be your family.
I understand how you feel, and about your brother. Kim is not his mother. He can afford the best treatment and help in the world. He is way ahead of most people struggling with mental health that way. Or, struggling with anything really.
I’m with you, Darla. 🙂
@Darla I agree. Especially when you have to take care of your children. They are not going to thank you later for being exposed to an erratic, mentally ill, narcissistic etc etc father and their own mental and psychological well-being being ruined by the father who was an adult himself and should have known better.
Regularly exposing children to erratic adults ruins lives.
And if the man, an adult, is not responsible for himself, the mother has to cut him off to protect herself and the babies.
@JeanGrey Kim is NOT the only family kanye has left! where did you get that from? he has a father who is still alive, they’re not estranged either, his father is just very low key so people forget about him. Saw photos of them together recently.
he’s also close to an aunt, one of his mother’s sisters, who helped care for North.
@Darla-If he had cancer, would you feel the same way? If he’s bipolar, he’s got a disease which is treatable. She is his wife, and while I’m sure she’s doing what she can do, she needs to look at the type of support system that can be set up. The challenge with mental illness is that the patient thinks they’re ‘fine’ when they are anything but. How is he relating to his children during this time?? I’m sure it’s not great. It’s in Kim’s best interest to be proactive here.
Some of you seem to be under the impression that when you have one of these mental illnesses that you have the clarity and sanity to take care of yourself because you are a “grown man and you should know better”. Anyone who says that can’t possibly have dealt with a loved one with a debilitating mental illness. That’s just not necessarily true depending on the type of mental illness. The most successful patients are the ones who have a strong circle around them. Those who support. It’s easy for some patients to get overwhelmed. They skip their therapy appts, they may forget to take meds and then it’s easy to relapse. My initial comment was more along the line of “Kim come get your man”, tongue in cheek, but yes, as his wife, the mother of his children, if she really loves her husband, then this should concern her. and as HK9 said, be proactive. But judging by the comment Kris allegedly made, they seem to be more concerned about the “brand” than Kanye’s health.
OK Darla, so don’t marry problem men. But marriage is a commitment between 2 people to help and support each other. Abusive husband? Absolutely, leave (and don’t blame the women who can’t do it easily). Mentally ill husband? Hey, you signed up to love, honor and support in sickness and in health. You don’t want to deal with that commitment, don’t get married. Whether Kim looks at marriage beyond the nice parties and the gift list, is anybody’s guess.
@JeanGray thanks a lot for the clarification. Still, a mother with young children can not be held accountable if she does not manage to “treat and care for” someone who does not have “clarity and sanity” and does not care about her children enough to be responsible about their own recovery.
Kanye seems to have a certain kind of narcissism that tells him that he`s “”got this” (mental health wise). When clearly it does not seem to be the case.
You can`t really talk sense into a person like that, as loving and responsible as you might be.
Something in me suspects that it might have been in part Kim`s doing that Kanye got forcibly hospitalized when she was on the other side of the country – there were no other options left.
Klo — at the time, it was speculated that it was his friends that plotted to get him into a hospital and they timed it specifically when all the Kardashians were safely out of the way on the other side of the continent. The Kardashian concern about their brand perhaps was a factor in their denial of the seriousness of his condition. I interpreted it as ignorance rather than deliberate malice. Kim did come back early when she got the news, but I doubt that she knew it was coming or approved. It was the first time she had been able to really get out in a long time, and she had to cut off her trip. I think some honor given to her late dad was involved. So the timing was really bad for her personally.
@jwoolman thanks, that was an interesting read. It is plausible that everything was pretty much the way you put it.
I believe the whole Kardashian-Jenner clan is a mish-mash bunch of narcissists and codependents. The Jenner girls seem to be a bit more independent from the rest of them. But all the rest abuse, use and manipulate each other to no end.
I do not even think that Kim is that bad of a narcissist – more that Kris is the basic root of all evil.
The way Kim has talked about how much she likes crime shows and to investigate “what is going on” leads me to believe that she has been gaslighted her whole life and always tries to maintain some kind of stability and mental balance. I also believe that Kanye`s mother was a narcissist with mental issues.
So, I have no doubt in my mind that Kim and Kanye love each other and rely on each other for support.
Overall, this is a clusterfuck.
What is it about liking crime shows and investigating that makes you believe kim has been gaslighted? Out of curiosity, not shade. You lost me.
OK, there are probably some missing links in my explanation.
I realize now, to explain it further would get too personal for me, sorry. But thanks for the question, I appreciate your interest.
I think anyone who has read up a lot about victims of psychological abuse (or experienced it firsthand) kind of gets the paranoia and overanalyzing that come with the injury.
I just personally recognize some telltale signs that Kim has been a victim of severe narcissistic abuse.
Then again, I might be wrong.
But who are we kidding. She is the daughter of Kris Jenner.
I’m not a Kanye’s fan, too old. However I believe he has some mental health issues coupled with substance abuse. Where I used to work they are diagnosed as mentally ill chemical abusers. I’m not a psyshiologist so I’ll leave it at that. I do believe Kanye is using all these crazy tweeting to help sell his albums, which I read is coming out soon. This nonsense about him loving #45 ect is just that, nonsense to sell albums. When was the last time we saw him with his kids except for this past weekend. Now he’s using his kids, his sickness and #45 people/followers to sell albums. I always remember a dr, psychiatrist, I worked with saying no one is crazy 24/7. KW knows what he’s doing.
The guy needs help. Where is his princess bride and mother of his children? Well, she’s busy posting naked pics of herself, of course. Too many people in the family getting attention, so Kim does what she does, posts nudes. Good luck there Kanye.
come on Nancy, Kim posting photos like that does not mean she isn’t also trying to get him help behind the scenes. One can do two things at once. the photos were to promote her new perfume right? so it’s work for her. let’s not moralize about women posting naked photos either, like it or not this is her work. this whole sexy image has been her brand for a decade now. also keep in mind it is very hard to force someone to get mental health help if they do not want it.
love kanye’s music, don’t like kim, don’t like defending her either, but people get so unreasonable when it comes to the kardashians that it’s ridiculous.
+∞. Someone needed to say it.
Also not a Kim fan but I agree with Bethany that the pics are part of work. She’s doing a roll out of a new product and the pics are part of the advertising plan. I highly doubt that the Klan themselves shot the pics and then photoshopped them. No doubt this was set up some time ago. One can work and help take care of someone. The two are not mutually exclusive.
It’s unfortunate that this seems to be his accepted persona and just “how he is.” No. He has real problems that need to be addressed. I personally can’t stand him but no one deserves for their mental health issues to go unchecked in the name of art or publicity.
I believe he’s very difficult to live with and he’s the one choosing not to follow drs order. I bet when he’s feeling good he stop taking his Meds and that’s on him. When he get too sick they will call the police and have him committed so he’s not a danger to himself or others, jmo.
I think he’s bipolar and currently manic. He did the same thing last year, and I’ve known bipolar people to also have manic and depressed cycles throughout the year, as do I.
The difference is that I am aware of it and try my best to deal with it; Kanye doesn’t seem to be at that point yet. Nor was an ex-friend who would say every year that she had never been depressed before, even though it was the same time each year.
My thought that he’s manic is because I tend to think that other people are stupid and I’m the only one who can do things correctly when I’m manic, and it sounds like that’s what he’s doing. I hope that he gets the help that he needs.
@Jag thanks for your insight…
Sounds like he doesn’t take his meds and is having a manic episode. This will only get worse before it gets better.
I agree with LightPurple. Bringing a third baby into the mix was not fair. First, even if a loving parent, the behavior that goes with the brain disorder leaves scars. And second, mental illness can run in families. Someone I know now questions having had a child with a bipolar spouse because now the kid has it, only even worse. Tragic to see your child suffer.
I agree with you 1000%. Also, Kris should be worried about the health (both physical and emotional) and safety of Kim and Kim’s three kids.
I don’t know. Seems like this always happens right when he has a new album to promote…hmmmm.
I am Bipolar 2. I am telling you this man is Bipolar 1 and off his meds. He is a danger to himself and others. The pussy-footing around a diagnosis of a mood disorder is only increasing the risk.
One of my best friends is bipolar and I’m her designated person to tell her she’s being ridiculous. She always feels like she can go off her meds because she feels good but when I tell her she’s being manic, she’ll take them again. She’s stubborn but she listens to me. Kanye needs a designated person to tell him when he’s being ridiculous.
That is very cool of you! You are a true friend.
That’s such a good system you guys have. Glad to know she has someone she feels she can really trust to keep her grounded and tell her the truth. She is lucky to have you.
Has he ever had a clinical diagnosis? I feel for them. Bipolar disorder is all around in my family and it is extremely hard to navigate and deal with. It’s very draining. Hopefully he gets the proper care, rest and medication if need be.
He seems to always go off the rails when there’s something to promote. His mental illness is a convenient marketing genius bc everyone swallows it up every time
Bingo !
Orrrrr — when there’s something to promote, you’re working harder, not eating right, sleeping less, under more stress, forget to take your meds, and -BOOM.
He should be on regular medication – though he likely feels artistically impotent if he’s forced to take them.
You are not wrong in describing him as Mentally ill. It’s documented fact. He dropped out of his concert tour and made an insurance claim based on ‘Acute Mental Illness’
This subject really resonates with me. I have bipolar 2 with treatment resistant depression. Ultimately I chose to undergo ECT and that’s turned my life around. I agree that armchair diagnoses can be somewhat troubling but hey this is a gossip blog… Reading Kaiser’s post sent a chill up my spine as it accurately described my past behavior. Thus, I can’t say that Kanye has bipolar but people with bipolar do sometimes act in that manner. (E.g.,I once went walking around my neighborhood in my jammies at 5am taking amazing photographs. And I was under a (UCLA) shrink’s care–it was just that nothing worked)
As for Kim, we don’t know what she is doing behind the scenes. My sister is/was there for me behind the scenes–talking to me at 2am when I was freaking out, calling me when she hadn’t heard from me for awhile–a red flag, taking me home from ECT treatments, just being there. And my sister is a financial planner with her own business. She didn’t stop working because I was struggling. Not only that , when I got out of the hospital I needed some place to stay. My nieces are out of the house so there were plenty of bedrooms available but that’s where my sister drew the line. I could stop by 24/7 if need be but she couldn’t handle living with me. That’s a long winded way of saying that you can help a mentally ill person and not lose yourself in the process.
Your sister is immediate family. I would hope immediate family is always there no matter what but in this case it makes me sad you couldn’t live there at least a little while until you found permanent housing. I hope things are much better for you now.
First, thank you and things are much better! My sister did let me stay with her while I was waiting to move in to my new place. Temporary was fine–it was permanent housing that she objected to.
He wandered into my old morning radio show Kevin & Bean years ago and sat down for an impromptu interview. God bless Kevin Ryder for handling it, but you could hear the bats flying around the belfry over the radio. You could hear the crazy eyes. I don’t know what he’s got but it sounded like f***ing unchained bipolar/mania. And I’ve seen 5150 mania. This person needs serious damn help, not flunkies squeezing every dime out by clearing his path and accommodating and spinning his episodes as the price of stardom and genius.
Trump is tweeting back to him. Buckle up!
Do you happen to know the issue (s)/platform of Trump’s that makes Kanye love him so much? Why didn’t Kanye support Hillary Clinton? Glad I got my typo corrected!!!! Trump actually wanted Hillary to win early on during early 2016 when Melania wasn’t pleased about becoming a potential first lady.
No idea because I cannot stand the misogynist pig who is Kanye West.
Kanye wearing a MAGA hat, I am so disgusted. And the Deplorables are going crazy tweeting him praising him.
Pure idiocy.
And he is now attacking Obama. And Princess Nagini has weighed in because we really needed to hear from her.
This isn’t anything new or salacious .
Kris K doing what she does best , feeding “insider information” most likely from Kim and kanye himself , to the press, to drum up publicity for Kanye’s new album. Nothing to see here folks, move along 😴
Bingo.
The drama continues, it sounds like he hijacked Kim’s twitter account. Her defense of his tweets is SO lame. Honestly, these two jackasses really deserve each other.
Now Kim is denying he has mental illness on twitter? What the f-? Anything but that, right Kim!
I’m really worried that he will take his own life – I wish he had some good family support in his life
She’s enabling inappropriate behavior. That’s why his hospitalization occurred while she was far away. Others were able to intervene
Never loved him more actually
