Princess Michael of Kent named her two black sheep ‘Venus and Serena’

Members of the Royal family attend the Queen’s Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace

I think most of us have been worried and continue to be worried about Meghan Markle marrying into the British royal family. The Windsors are, historically, rather problematic. Prince Philip is an old racist, Prince Charles otherizes and commits racial microaggressions against British-Indian citizens. Even Prince Harry isn’t spared: he wore a Nazi uniform as a costume and used racial slurs towards a fellow soldier. What will it be like for an African-American woman to join that family? Well, a former boyfriend of Lady Ella Windsor says that we have good reason to be worried. Lady Ella is the daughter of Princess Michael of Kent, the same Princess Michael who wore that “blackamoor” brooch to Christmas lunch with the Queen and Meghan Markle. Lady Ella’s ex is Aatish Taseer, and here’s the warning he’s giving to Meg:

A former boyfriend of Lady Gabriella Windsor has claimed ‘royals and Nazis’ go hand-in-hand while alleging his ex’s mother, Princess Michael of Kent, once owned two black sheep she named Serena and Venus after the African-American tennis sisters. British journalist Aatish Taseer, 38, dated the 37-year-old royal, affectionately known as ‘Ella,’ for three years after meeting through friends in New York in 2003. More than a decade later, he has offered insight into what life is really like inside the royal family.

‘Royals and Nazis go together like blini and caviar,’ he wrote in his article for Vanity Fair, alleging that ‘everyone above a certain age in Britain is at least a tiny bit racist’. Taseer, the son of Indian journalist Tavleen Singh and late Pakistani politician and businessman Salmaan Taseer, said he ‘saw a nice side’ of Gabriella’s mother, Princess Michael, but noted that almost everyone finds her to be ‘perfectly ghastly.’

‘Princess Michael, though generally free of British colonial prejudices, and beyond reproach when it came to me, nevertheless invited trouble out of what felt like a desire to shock: her pair of black sheep in Gloucestershire were named Venus and Serena,’ he wrote. Taseer recalled how Gabriella was graduating from Brown University when her mother was accused of using a racial slur to insult a party of black diners at New York City restaurant Da Silvano in 2004. Princess Michael allegedly told them to ‘go back to the colonies’ during an argument over noise, and the incident landed her a cover of the New York Post under the headline ‘Royal Bigot.’

The princess strongly denied the allegations, claiming to have said she would be ‘ready to go back to the colonies’ during the dispute, and Taseer claimed that she also told to him she ‘would never have said that.’ According to the journalist, she said: ‘I’m a historian. I know that America itself was a colony.’

Taseer wrote that she ‘feigned an odd mixture of injustice and contrition, telling him: ‘I daren’t even say I want my coffee black anymore. I say, “Without milk.”‘ He admitted that he would have liked to believe her, but he had his doubts because older people in Britain tend to be somewhat racist.

Taseer noted that Princess Michael had always failed to grasp the understated nature—or ‘coziness’ so prized by other members of the Royal Family.

”Prince Michael was cozy; Prince Charles is cozy; the Queen, by all accounts, is a tea cozy. But Princess Michael was, fatally, about as cozy as a yellow jacket on speed,’ he explained. According to Taseer, the mother-of-two was also convinced it was a bad idea for royals to tie the knot with commoners, particularly female ones.

‘It’s all very well Ella marrying Mr. Taseer from India, or Pakistan,’ she allegedly told him. ‘No one knows what to do with that. But the moment the girl down the road thinks she can be Princess, or Queen, it’s all over. The mystery is gone.’

[From The Daily Mail]

Should we judge the entire Windsor clan on Princess Michael, who merely “married into” the Windsors to a man who is super-minor in the grand scheme of things? I think it would be one thing if Princess Michael was the only one who had ever said or done anything problematic or racist. But Taseer is right: it’s a larger problem in the royal family. Do they get any credit for welcoming Meghan with open arms and *trying* to change? Or nah?

    this lady is a POS.

    • NotSoSocialButterfly says:

My first thought was, “This bitch.”

    • Organica says:

Waiting for the “it’s just her generation” ccrowd.

      • Maria says:

The Duchess of Gloucester is the same age and is nothing like her. She welcomed a Maori son-in-law a number of years ago. Not the generation, Princess Michael is well-known problem, with the royals. Even the Queen was overheard to say, “she is too grand for the likes of us”.

      • Merritt says:

It is not the generation. It is the people and their choices. Princess Michael is known to be obsessed with what she considers “pure blood”.

      • lunde says:

The apple doesn’t fall far from her Nazi father’s tree!

      • Organica says:

Exactly! Philip, however, gets every pass under the sun because lots here think he’s a charming old rascal. They call his virulent, rock hard bigotry “indiscretions”
        Ugh.

      • PrincessK says:

For a long time I used to give Marie Christine the benefit of the doubt but I have stopped now. The other royals generally loathe and avoid her, I used to think they were jealous of her beauty, but now it is obvious why. She is certainly a beauty, I have seen her at Wimbledon, and I can tell you she really makes sure she is ‘seen’. She is always at Wimbledon and so it is quite possible that she has met the Williams sisters, which makes it even worse. So because a person has dark skin, everything black has to be named after them, ridiculous. I wonder what this woman’s children think of their mother. I do feel sorry for Gabriella though, her ex should have kept his trap shut.

      • Alice says:

        Classy lady :/

    • Chikadee says:

No it’s not her generation. I can’t believe we are all forgetting about this:

      • Reef says:

I haven’t. It’s why I’ve side-eyed this union from the beginning. But Markle is a grown woman with internet like you and I, and if she wants to marry into this family who are we to object.

      • SK says:

It was a stupid-arse thing to do but was the idiotic rebellion of a teenager to do something “bad” and shocking. It was not a revelation that he himself is a secret Nazi or sympathises with Nazis – indeed the outfit was not even supposed to be a Nazi outfit so much as Afrika Korps to fit in with the colonial theme (which in itself is beyond terrible). I know loads of people who have worn outrageous or shocking costumes and it can be quite funny in a black humour kind of way. The problem is that outside the context of a small party the optics of things like that are awful and with the prevalence of camera phones and social media these days I think it’s best just not to go there so as not to risk insulting or hurting other people. In any case, his outfit wasn’t really clever in any way, just shocking and bad. Pair all of that with his position as a royal and his family’s personal history and it was a truly moronic and highly insulting and hurtful thing to do. I do think that we need to allow for the fact that 20 year olds sometimes do epically stupid things and we can’t take adults to task for every stupid thing they did when they were young forever. Also, people are very capable of changing and we can’t hold them to who they used to be forever unless it’s to hold them to account for a crime.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

She has ALWAYS been a POS, ALWAYS.

      • Grinning mama bear says:

Other royals who are describes as “cushy” here just pretend to be nicer.

    • Umyeah says:

I think she is trash but i take solice that she is probably jealous of Meghan. I mean Meghan is going to be way higher on the royal hierarchy.

      • L84Tea says:

That’s exactly my take. I can smell the steaming bitterness seeping out of this broad all the way from Florida.

      • Beluga says:

Oh to be in the room the first time she has to curtsey to Meghan!

      • Michele Hood says:

Oh, without a doubt, Princess Michael of Kent is jealous of Meghan. She was also jealous of Diana. Harry is a senior royal, certainly more relevant in the pecking order, and I wonder if he’ll have the balls to stand up for his wife.

      • Grinning mama bear says:

Princess Michael of Kent is smart as they come. Not nice but sharp. That blackamoor brooch was about getting some pr. Remember the old saying in pr: “Yep, bad and good news are good news. Only no news are bad news.”

Princess Michael doesn’t really get much of an income and the only way she can earn money is pr stuff: some hosts like to have a royal name on their invite and such and some royals and even some aristos earn five-figured sums for lending their name. Or by attending these parties and social gatherings. So Princess Michael needs to have a certain media presence in order to be a valuable addition to a party or an invite and she just increased that with that Blackamoor brooch.
She needn’t play nice as some kind of eccentricity and some brushness are okay if you are an aristo or a royal.

Sad but true. This whole royal circus and that aristo thing should be ended soon.

    • Vesper says:

      She’s horrid…God speed Megan Markle!

    • Snappyfish says:

This woman is a horrid wretch

    • Katie says:

      * tipetoeing in *
I need someone to set me straight because I don’t see what’s so terrible about naming your black sheep after Venus & Serena. It would be like naming a red hen Harry or a super white sheep Nigella or runty pig Tom Cruise wouldn’t it? I know that Princess Michael has got form for being racist but if someone else did this would it be so terrible?

      • Nn says:

        It’s passive aggressive racism.
There is a history of dehumanization of black bodies, comparing them to animals. You can’t just apply the same logic you would to hair color or white skin.
I think this falls under micro aggression which is the well known tactic white female racists tend to use.
Now, of course it doesn’t apply to all. If it was anyone else maybe I could see it as innocent but it rarely is…

      • Anners says:

I agree with Nn…the other names you mentioned don’t bother me, but naming 2 black sheep after 2 black women makes me cringe…and it’s likely the long history of comparing POC, especially black people, to animals (and considering them sub-human to boot), is too recent and atrocious to let this slide. That lady is a piece of work, for sure.

      • Katie says:

I see what you’re saying but surely that’s because you know she has form. If it was a friend of their’s who did it, it’d be okay? Or never?

      • Grinning mama bear says:

        Edited.

    • Sara says:

Next level offensive… I can’t get over it. Black sheep? Seriously?

      • scylla74 says:

I think it would be different for a beloved pet, for example if I had two black cats and I would give them their name it would be a compliment (I named all my pets after someone I like, may it be someone from Buffy or startrek or a philosopher.

But I am pretty sure it was not the spirit of this woman.

  2. Patricia says:

This is why I don’t give a hoot what the queen is wearing, where any of them are traveling, what renovations they are making to their insane huge homes or what they have to say. Nothing about “royalty” is worthy of admiring or upholding in this day and age. They are not good people, it’s not a good part of society to have and fawn over these “royals”

    • FU Pay Me says:

Yes! Beautifully said. They’re low lifes.

    • Clare says:

I care because while 207 women have had their lives altered because of botched scans and NHS funding cuts, The Queen and her leeches have had their allowances increased and given literally millions to alter/renovate their ostentatious homes/palaces. It’s disgusting.

I agree that these people and their functions are surplus to requirement. I suppose some of them may be ‘good’ people – but most appear to be total arseholes.

    • Rumi says:

      Right on Praticia

    • Addie says:

      Excellent point and brilliantly said.

Also adding that the QM and daughters Elizabeth and Margaret have form in playing at the Nazi salute in old home films. All excused away, of course, but it’s there. As you say, this family has no business being fawned over.

    • Grinning mama bear says:

      @ Patricia

Your words should be listend to and red much more intensively. People need to get that.

  3. Organica says:

I think a goat reference is appropriate here.

  4. Marie says:

I still believe that their acceptance of Ms. Markle is more of a reflection of their love and fondness of Harry.

    • Char says:

If Harry had any chance to become king, they would never accept her.

      • Honeybee Blues says:

Yes, Char. Something tells me with this engagement/marriage, Will and the kids won’t be able to fly together any longer. They won’t risk Harry on the throne with Megan’s “bloodline.” Their racism has never been what one would refer to as “thinly veiled.” That veil is sheer as glass.

    • Eleonor says:

      Yes.
But let’s not pretend Meghan doesn’t know who she is marrying, and his very lovely family.

      • Brittany says:

Exactly. Not saying it’s right, but Meghan very strategically made her bed, so…

    • vicki says:

Forgive my cynicism but I can’t help but wonder if the royals would have been as quick to accept Meghan if her skin was darker or she “appeared” to be more black than white. If I didn’t know otherwise, at first glance she appears caucasian.

  5. Sparkly says:

Wow, she’s a real piece of work. I hope the BRF is open to learning and changing. It would be a really good thing if they are.

    • Felicia says:

Well, Harry marrying an African American divorcee is maybe a sign that the younger generation is not like the older ones.

      • Organica says:

He has matured a lot and learned from his mistakes. No excuses, just my opinion.

      • Surley Gale says:

@Organica – be careful! After I protested much the same on another thread – that people do grow and change and learn from mistakes – I got banished from this site. I did some incrediably stupid, thoughtless and rude things in my twenties that I learned from, and never repeated. When folks throw what I did in my face, all I can say is yes, I did that, it was incrediably stupid/thoughtless/rude and I’ve learnt from it. One action does not a whole person make. Even a bunch of stupid, rude, crappy behaviours do not a whole person make. Who a person is in their 20’s may very well be quite different as they add layers of experience and understanding to their lives, in my opinion.

      • Addie says:

And Clare, ‘the younger generation’ is actually Harry saying those things and wearing the Nazi costume, egged on by William (to be fair). Let’s not forget William referring to Commonwealth guests in their national attire as wearing ‘fancy dress’. Mountbatten was only loved by the royals; he got the fate he deserved.

      • Grinning mama bear says:

With aristos and royals there is one thing that needs to be remembered:

        They lie.
        Always.
        To the public.

So perhaps Harry hasn’t changed but he pretends to? And the lady he marries might be a poc but perhaps …

  6. girl_ninja says:

Ugly on the inside. Ugly on the outside.

  7. Nel says:

Read Richard Palmer’s story on Daily Express. Prince Philip derogatorily calls Meghan the Duchess of Windsor.

    • Clare says:

That is truly, truly disgusting. I assume with reference to her being a divorcee? Because y’know he and his family have all had picture perfect marriages.

    • Renee2 says:

      I don’t understand why this is a slur?? I admit that I don’t know a lot of British/Royal history.

      • Zapp Brannigan says:

I believe he is comparing her to Wallis Simpson. That is not a compliment.

If he is throwing out “witty” nicknames can I suggest he call Prince Andrew “Uncle bad touch”, just a thought.

      • Ladykeller says:

@zapp brannigan I just snorted coffee out my nose. Perfect family nickname.

      • Ankhel says:

Presumably because Wallis Simpson was an American divorcee, who wasn’t considered good enough for the royal family.

My reaction was: I REALLY hope that’s the worst he’s called her.

    • Michele Hood says:

Oh, F NO!!! If this is true, his old, mummy ass needs to be called out.

    • Grinning mama bear says:

Philip is known for mocking certain things. Perhaps he has noticed that Meghan has adopted a royal attitude already?

  8. Really says:

That is next level racist. Ugly human being.

  9. CadiC says:

Princess Michael and the rest of the BRF have long been problematic with views.

However I’m not sure all of us are concerned about Meghan Markle entering the royal family. She’s probably the most prepared of all the recent royal spouses to deal with the drama of the BRF, being a grown up woman in her 30’s, seems fairly savvy and having been around Hollywood for at least a decade has likely experienced much of what is coming at her now.

  10. minx says:

This person is a complete waste of space.

  11. PunkyMomma says:

Isn’t Princess Michael the formerly devout Roman Catholic who refused to consummate her marriage to Prince Michael on their wedding night, so she could receive Holy Communion one last time the next day?

Many years ago, she was a guest on Oprah, and Oprah’s jaw dropped more than once listening to Princess Michael. (I did laugh out loud when the good Princess called the Grimaldi’s and Monaco a “tin pot principality”. 🤣)

  12. Carol Hill says:

How is this any different from what many white families deal with when someone marries or dates a person of color? There is usually drama. The family has to question their racial beliefs and personal prejudices. If a marriage occurs, then things begin to change, if your family is decent. My family has been through this. Ugly things were said. But, we, like so many Americans, had to readjust our racist beliefs and begin to become people who have progressive views and see others as our equals. My family is a microcosm of the changes that America has gone through in the last 50 years. We were lily white. But, we are now an inclusive family with African Americans and Indian Americans. We are America. This marriage of Megan and Harry will, hopefully, broaden and begin the changes that are needed in the Royal Family.

    • Gigi LaMoore says:

I agree. I see this played out in my own family. I am black but have a few Caucasian and Asian races by marriage. Stuff gets said, slights are made, etc., etc. While we don’t have the option of kicking the racist members out of the extended family and aren’t able to change the garbage coming out of their pie hole, we can choose to ignore it and continue living life the way that we want. That’s it.

  13. Lara says:

Naming the sheep Venus and Serena it is plain old dirty racism and has nothing do do with a desire to shock or growing up at a time where casual racism was acceptable.
There are old people who are casually racist (and sexist) since they never knew better, they are easy to identify, if you cal them out and explain, why they behavior is hurtfull, they apologize and change in the future.
If people go the “but you should be able to say ….” route, you can be sure the are staunch racists.

  14. Leni says:

‘somewhat racist’, lol. I respect the monarchy for what it is and I rather enjoy the awe it can generate but they are clearly bigots and racist based on so many comments that I do not have the time to share. Sadly, the worst part is that it is innate in a number of them and I hope Ms Markle is not crushed by their ‘You are so cute, a curiosity and interesting till you enter my space’.

  15. Cher says:

Has Meghan ever described herself as African American?

    • Merritt says:

I’m pretty sure she describes herself as biracial.

      • Gigi LaMoore says:

@Petty, o.k., so the firm is like a lot of families, then? Sounds a bit like Meghan’s own family where some of the white members did not accept her or her mom. Even if she married a black man, she would probably be subject to some comments from that side as well. It’s not being “asleep” to make the choice to live your own life regardless of what others may say or think.

    • Krissy says:

Lol, Exactly! Meghan does not consider herself black, I don’t believe she has ever called herself African-American which is fine, other people are always trying to throw that label on her. She doesn’t look phenotypically black, it is what it is. She is mixed but the way she views herself is why this relationship works, if she was some pro black “woke” mixed girl (like myself lol) then she wouldn’t want any part of that family.

      • Petty Riperton says:

Exactly she’s not as woke as some claim she is otherwise this wedding wouldn’t be happening.

      • Merritt says:

        @Petty

Do you really think there is a family where there isn’t at least one racist family member? And reality is where there is one there are more. At least Meghan won’t be surprised. Unlike the rest of us who get to have it sprung on us at holiday meals when the totes not racist family member begins speaking and the enablers start with any excuse in the book to give them a pass.

      • Gigi LaMoore says:

I’m full black and have dated white men and an Asian man whose families were not thrilled about me. I am fully awoke and at the wheel of MY life. If those relationships had led to marriage, I would have married at least two of the men. As long as the man is standing WITH me and putting me first, then I am not going to let racist Aunt Ethel or anyone stand in the way. Meghan experienced racism in her own family and would probably get it if she married a full black man. Where is she going to go where it is going to be la la land where there are never any comments directed (however indirect) towards her about either whites or blacks. Continue to live your own life, Meghan and congratulations. I will be watching!!

      • Ellaus says:

I am not from the States, so please be kind. But why should she be only black? I consider she birracial, both black and white, should she ser herself as other thing?
I am *not* trying to be sarcástic or irónic, it is just that I don’t understand how she can’t be enough black… She is both things.

      • Petty Riperton says:

MERRITT, There is more than one racist person in the firm.

      • Merritt says:

        @Petty

Just as there is always more than one in all families. Why do you think Meghan is estranged from her half siblings?

      • Tonya says:

Ellaus, I am not American, but I have lived in America. I have NEVER ticked a box (I must note that I have noticed that at the doctor’s office/hospital they have indicated what they ‘think I am’). I understand your question & I too don’t understand… One reason I am confused is because most people are mixed…

    • Gigi LaMoore says:

@Ellaus, it varies by opinion but as a non-biracial black woman, I am completely fine with Meghan Markle acknowledging that she is both black and white. That’s the truth and that’s her truth.

      • Ellaus says:

Thank you for answering, sometimes I don’t understan the nuances of race in América. And when I think I do, then a new comment justo throws away what I thought XD. It is such a complex issue!

      • NLopez says:

        +1 GigiLamoore

  16. jferber says:

Oh, my God. I just can’t. I’m horrified.

  17. Nel says:

Cher, Meghan IS NOT an African American. She’s biracial. Her circle of friends (besides Serena) are mainly white, she dates/married white men, she can easily pass for white. She can either chose to identify as white(her father ) or black. It’s her choice.

    • Cher says:

The article above, describes Meghan as African American. She obviously is not. I would suggest that you reread the above article.
Why describe Meghan as such, when clearly she is not?

    • Merritt says:

She is part African-American. She describes herself as biracial because she believes in acknowledging her entire ethnic background.

    • Amelie says:

Huh this is interesting. Would you say the same about Barack Obama (always referred to as the first African-American president) or Rashida Jones? What about Halle Berry who is constantly referred to as the first African-American woman to win Oscar for Best Actress? Shaun King who has been vocal about being African-American as many people have doubted his race and say that he is lying? They are all bi-racial but many say they consider themselves to be African-American. Meghan can choose to identify as whatever she wants but just because she can pass as white she’s not part African-American?? I’m… very confused.

      • Gigi LaMoore says:

She is part African American and she acknowledges that. As a black woman, I am uncomfortable with how the word “passing” is being used as a person passing does not acknowledge their blackness at all and in facts goes to great lengths to hide it. That is not the case with Meghan Markle. Looking white and passing as white are two different things.

      • Moneypenny424 says:

I agree Gigi. She is not hiding her mom or the rest of her black family. Not to mention that Meghan cannot pass as white. Sorry. She is a light skinned black woman. People may not think she is black, but that does not mean she looks white (though the nose job and straight hair help that–no judgment here). She looks just like my kids and my husband (I am black, my husband is biracial).

      • Nn says:

She is both African American and European American, what’s so hard to understand?

      • PrincessK says:

I think a lot of it depends on how you are treated. I have biracial friends who call themselves black because that is where they find unconditional acceptance. In Barack Obama’s case I believe it was a political move.

      • Anastasia says:

Obama seemed to identify more closely with the African American half of him, therefore we saw him as African American. (Though really his father was African, not African American.)

The best answer to ANY confusion is to look at how the person identifies themselves! It’s not our job to place labels on them, they get to decide.

I have biracial students who identify as white and biracial students who identify as African American. Their choice, honestly. But we should respect THEIR choice.

  18. Pomegranate says:

    She’s gross.

  19. Betsy says:

OH MY GOD. I have read so many worse examples of racism that hurts and has more of an impact on people’s lives, but this just seems plain old racist-mean. Like needlessly, shockingly racist just to be a vindicative b racist. ETA: like old times Disney racist bad to quote Troy in Community.

And if the Royals are trying to change, good! It won’t be perfect, but an open mind and trying to change is surely better than, well, Princess Michael. And Prince Charles has done a lot of work with Muslim communities, which while not the same thing as doing a lot with all minorities or being perfect in terms of his understanding (and god knows I’m not – every so often I realize that, oh crap, that was another blind spot I had), i think shows that he’s not a trash person. But the royal family is not small.

  20. Muprhy says:

So…she wasn’t thrilled her own son married an actress?

  21. Tan says:

Since when is Aatish Tasheer straight?

    • HannahF says:

Although out now, he did date Princess Michael’s daughter for several years. So bi or whatever…

  22. Catherine says:

I winder where Prince Mciahel is in all this? His brother, the Duke of Kent, is a wonderful man and very close to the Queen. Prince Michael remains silent but he sure accompanies that ASSHOLE OF A WOMAN, his wife Princess Micheal, to Wimbledon and all kinds of events. She’s horrifying

  23. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

I hope Serena and Venus adopt an old, frail poodle and appropriately name it.

    • NotSoSocialButterfly says:

I think I will refer to my post -twin- childbirth hemorrhoid as Princess Michael ,henceforth.

When people dress up for Halloween, or whatever costume party, as murderers like the Scream movie mask or as Trump, it doesn’t mean they support murder or Trumpness. It’s the opposite.

I just think we need to let it go on the years-ago Harry costume. He dressed as the worst monster he could imagine.

    • Mabs A'Mabbin says:

I kind have to agree with you here. Perhaps had he strapped on some boobs, hiked up the costume to barely cover his butt which peeks out under a mini petticote, pulled up some thigh-highs and slipped on some stilletos, everyone would’ve been on board.

    • HannahF says:

There are two guys who dress up as Trump and Kim Jong Un respectively and perform for the tourists at the Santa Monica Pier. Pretty sure they don’t endorse either politician.

  25. Bitsy says:

Megan doesnt seem as if she cares. Sshe doesn’t identify as Black nor with Black culture. I think she only cares that people don’t offend her mother. Also, Harry and Megan are living right across from Princess Michael at Kensington Palace. I’d bet my royal watching privileges that they’ve met, chatted, and are casually friendly. I said in another thread that any person who surrounds themselves with white friends is used to casual racism. She’s probably not bothered at all.

    • Merritt says:

That is your opinion. It doesn’t reflect reality.

    • Gigi LaMoore says:

Or maybe she doesn’t care because she knows that she can’t change the old bag? She would have to commit to being single forever if she called off the wedding due to a racist family member because she is more than likely going to face some sort of racism regardless of who she marries. As a biracial woman, she is getting it from both ends-“too black, not black enough” . She can’t win so she should do what she is doing-making her own choices and living her own life.

      • Incognita says:

Exactly Gigi LaMoore! Meghan has made no effort to hide her Black mother and has given glowing tributes to her. As an African-American woman myself, I too realize that she has to balance a delicate high-wire with her interactions with African-Americans and whites. I think that she will do just fine because I suspect that she has been used to this her entire life. In my humble opinion, Meghan should wave Princess Michael away like a swarm of gnats and keep it moving. She will do just fine focusing on herself, her platforms and living a good life with Prince Harry.

    • Vanessa says:

First of all wow your comment is just ridiculous on so many levels you don’t have a clue on what Megan believes or feel about her racial identity to suggests that some how she ok with people around being racist toward black people but just not toward her mom is really offensive . Megan had to deal with racist people in her own family you don’t know if she even talks to this racist woman but you just assuming that she is friendly because it fits your narrative of Megan being more white than black . black woman cant win no more what we do before Megan was too black to ever date or marry Harry now it’s she not black enough she white passing she doesn’t knowledge her roots . For the record white passing Biracial are Mariah Carey logic the rapper Halsey and wentworh Miller those are white passing Megan looks like a light skin black woman .

    • Leyton says:

I don’t think Meghan would be okay with racism, as casual as it might seem to some. She actually did a USA PSA about it and talked about her biracial identity and her mom being black. I think Meghan is very aware of how she “looks” to many but she’s never denied her heritage nor that of her mother. It’s insulting to believe that because she doesn’t look black enough to some ,she doesn’t recognize that heritage or feel for black people.

      • NLopez says:

I agree 100% with you Leyton. Not that Meghan has anything to prove, but a black gospel choir is scheduled to perform at the wedding. I’m looking forward to that, and seeing Ms.Doria in one of those fancy cars, & front and center in the chapel when her baby girl gets married. I wish Harry&Meghan all the best.

Is this vile creature invited to the wedding???

Marie-Christine has always been the c#ntess of class.

  29. Keepitreal says:

Yes, to all those pushing the narrative that Meghan will be a “change agent” and a “breathe of fresh air” and the royal family is becoming “progressive” (which is an oxymoron); I am a British woman of mixed race and I think she will struggle with this family and the snotty toffs that they surround themselves with. They will “use” her to innoculate themselves against claims of racism; they cannot be considered racist because they have a couple of “people of color” in the family. Sorry, I know people in the US have stars in their eyes and love a good Disney, fairy tale princess story, but the royal family by no stretch is a fantasy dream come true, especially when the novelty wears off; a wedding is just one day and the BRF will continue to be what it always has been, tone deaf and irrelevant.

  30. aquarius64 says:

The royals are stupid enough to invite this witch they are inviting the bad press, including the Markles crying foul to why she is invited to the wedding and not them.

  31. Vanessa says:

It’s not just her generation, and it’s not just ‘her’ family either. England has huge problems with racism.

  32. Zazz says:

Ever since i was a child, i knew that the princess of Kent, aka : Marie Christine Agnes Hedwig Ida von Reibnitz, born and raised in Germany was one of the most racist member of the british royal family. It has been known for years.

She like, the members of this family, is of german descent and the Saxe Cobourg renamed themselves as Windsor after World War to make people forget that for a time they were pretty OK with Hitler. So the nazi connection has been established a long time ago.

I already knew that these families are full of ish, have mistresses left and right and other children out of wedlock and for the most part, look down in private the ‘ordinary folk.

I knew that early, because some of my upbringing was in a catholic school, full of european nobility who make sure they keep their privilleges while making sure, they don’t mingle withe ordinary foks. They live in a superior cast with no real or few real connection with the outside world, only tolerating in their world offsprings of wealthy entrepreneurs and those of wealthy despots from around the world.

Personally, I think that Kingdoms are anachronic to the political evolution of western democracies, eventhough some of them, like in Belgium, are necessary as they stabilize several european communities (namely fren, flemish and german) which would be much more likely to tear the country apart if they were a republic.
