To me, Zara Phillips-Tindall seems like a real person, someone who would actually be a lot of fun in real life, someone who can function without a dozen handlers and royal courtiers. That’s how Zara was raised too: Princess Anne didn’t want her children to have titles, and she wanted them to just be regular people. So maybe it’s because Zara seems so “real” to me that I actually have all the feelings for her right now. Zara has given birth to her second child, a little girl. Zara and Mike Tindall experienced a devastating miscarriage just before Christmas in 2016, and Zara waited a bit and then tried again. Everyone had been cautiously optimistic about this pregnancy, and apparently everything is fine, and mother and baby are doing well.
The royal family has a new member! Zara Tindall, Queen Elizabeth‘s granddaughter and the daughter of Princess Anne, welcomed her second child with husband, Mike Tindall, on Monday, Buckingham Palace confirmed Tuesday.
“Mrs Michael Tindall was safely delivered of a baby girl on 18th June, at Stroud Maternity Unit. Mr Tindall was present at the birth. The weight of the baby was 9lbs 3oz,” the statement read.
“The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Princess Royal, Captain Mark Phillips and Mike’s parents, Mr Philip and Mrs Linda Tindall, have been informed and are delighted with the news. The baby’s name will be confirmed in due course. This baby is the second child for Zara and Mike, the fourth grandchild for The Princess Royal and the seventh great-grandchild for The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh.”
One, that’s a BIG baby! People were talking about how Prince Louis was the biggest royal baby at 8 pounds, 7 ounces, but here’s a big girl at 9lbs 3 oz!! Two, I’m so glad that Zara is doing well from the sounds of things. She’s an equestrian and she talked openly about how difficult it was for her, during her first pregnancy, to not have everything go as easily as she hoped during the pregnancy and delivery.
As for the name, I bet it will be something pretty simple and normal. Naming their first daughter “Mia” was an easy choice for them. My guess is they’ll go with another sweet and short name.

Congrats to them! My daughter was 9lbs 7 ounces, it was nice to have a big baby, she didn’t feel as fragile as some smaller newborns
Yes both my boys were on the bigger side (9 lbs 8oz and 9lbs 11oz) and I liked it.
This sweet news.
Maybe a Z name?
I bet chloe
This chick will forever get side-eye from me after the faces she made during Bishop Curry’s sermon at the Royal wedding. It was the height of snobbery and she came across as yet another privileged white British royal.
My mom and I are black and we were doing the same.
The sermon was something else.
You also werent on camera with millions of people watching.
@zewest
C’mon really?
Oh please. She was eight months pregnant. Maybe the baby kicked or she wanted to pee… Not everything has to be done with some bad intentions.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
Last time I checked someone rolling their
eyes is pretty straight forward in their “intentions”.
Every single senior member of brf had some racial issues. Not Zara and her husband. Maybe she’s not like the rest of them.
I don’t like brf overall, but Zara and Mike seem so normal. And we have no idea why she rolled her eyes. It’s same with Chelsey. We don’t know what went through her head.
Totally agree with this, ValiantlyVarnished!

I think the British are pretty reserved especially when it comes to ths Royal family. I think the reaction wasnt race thing but more of a pearl clutching British prim and proper way of doing things.

You are assuming racism, but a lot of people who are not religious find a good old fashioned sermon acutely uncomfortable. I really liked it, but I’m a regular church-goer, some of my friends thought is was a bit much. And then there are the folks who dislike organized religion and any sort of preaching; church-going has really fallen off in Britain.
Bishop Curry must have been a success with people not on the royal side of the church as I read that “the CoE congregations will soon be able to share mission and ministry with a range of churches in their area – linking British churches in black communities that share Mr Curry’s style of sermons.”
Church of England officials were really taken with him and hope ministers like Bishop Curry will bring in more passion, charisma and less reserve to their churches to bring in more churchgoers.
Plus he was recommended to the couple by the Archbishop of Canterbury who’s a fan of his.
As a Brit I can say that people were ‘WTF’ esp as we don’t see sermons like this in our churches, the are generally seen as a cure for insomnia. I liked his sermon, it made you sit up and take notice, and take notice people did. He did drag it out a bit thou.
“yet another privileged white British royal.”
Yet this is the very family MM wanted to marry into lol. I agree with Milla. Every member of that family (including Harry) has had problems with race. Zara and Mike just seem like a normal couple.
Congrats to them. I’m pregnant after a miscarriage myself so I love hearing these positive stories 🙂
Sending happy baby vibes your way! I know how awful and emotionally devastating a miscarriage can be and your strength gives me hope for trying again!
Congrats on your pregnancy! My twin brothers were born after my mom had a miscarriage! Good wishes to you.
This was the sweet story I needed today ☺
Mike the Rugger as the dad to two adorable little girls makes me smile.
4.1 kg!! Wow
Congrats! I’m hoping for speedy recovery for mommy and baby.
I had a stillborn, a normal 7 pound 1 ounces.
4 months later I was pregnant again and got an almost 10 pounds baby girl! It was said because my abdomen muscle wasn’t fully recovered from previous pregnancy, the baby has so much room and my tender muscle to stretch.
@erni so sorry about the stllbirth. Must have been terrible for you, happy to hear your baby girl is big and healthy. Hugs😊
you are so kind, Maria. Thank you!
I was so glad to see this this morning. Hope mom and baby continue to do well.
9 pounds is the norm in my family. Congratulations to all.
One of my close colleagues is an Olympics Equestrian Judge, as well as an eventing judge. In her many travels, she has met Zara many times, the last time being when Zara attended some horsey thing in Queensland not to long ago. Over the years she has often told us how lovely Zara is – polite, down-to-earth, friendly and quite hilarious. Believe me, knowing my colleague well, had Zara been otherwise, we’d have never heard the end of it!
This is some nice news for a change. It’s good to hear the baby arrived safely and she and mum are doing well.
That makes me happy to hear – she seems like a really cool, down to earth kind of chica. someone you could have a drink and a laugh with.
That’s an all girl grandchild posse for Princess Anne, right ? Makes for cute Christmas pictures ! Glad they have this joy and if Meghan and Harry get busy they can add one to this cadre of cousins.
Congrats to them! I can’t wait to find out the name.
Congrats to the Tindall’s, such sweet news after her miscarriage. I’m sure we’ll have the name and a pic in due time, can’t wait!
Ouch!! Congrats am sure she’ll be as fun as her sister is.
Hmmm, I see “really big baby” and I think 10 maybe 11 lbs. My last two sons were 9 pounders. Everyone’s scale is different…
Right? At 6 pounds, I was the smallest of my mom’s six with my siblings all well over 8-9 pounds with my youngest sister clocking in at 12. My nieces, nephews, and kids of my cousins have all weighed over 9 pounds with a few weighing in that 11-12 pound range.
I weighed 10lbs 11oz when I was born, the doctor told my parents that I was the biggest baby they had ever seen lol
My first was 10.7 lbs. Gob bless c-sections.
C-sections are such a miracle. Absolutely hate it when they’re looked down on or derided. Giving birth isn’t a competition.
The Phillips and Tindall’s live a royal life without having to do the royal “work”. Now that’s a scam.🤭
They can live on royal estates, theyre included in royal events but can still claim privacy as private citizens.
Princess Anne didn’t refuse titles for her children either. She could not pass them on.
Yes but Mark Philips turned down an Earldom because Anne didn’t want her kids to be titled. In addition, the Queen offered Peter a title when he got married in 2008 and he turned it down.
Pfffft my girls were 9 lbs 11 and 9 lbs 15 oz. And I’m not a large person.
AMA about pushing out the bigguns!
Oh hell my daughter was 10 lbs 10 oz!
I loved the sermon, however my pearl clutching Catholic African American friend was completely put off by Bishop Curry.
