Queen Elizabeth loves this season in England. She loves Royal Ascot and horse shows and horse races and anything to do with good weather and horses, honestly. On Sunday, Queen Liz and Prince Philip attended the Royal Windsor Cup in Windsor. The Queen wore a peachy-pink coat with gigantic pearl buttons, covering what looks like a peachy-pink floral dress. And of course, a diamond brooch. #BroochLyfe.
Prince Philip has been retired for months, but he still makes the occasional public appearance, averaging about one or two appearances a month, by my count. He didn’t attend Royal Ascot or Trooping the Colour, but he came out for the Royal Windsor Cup. It’s a good thing, and a reminder of why the younger royals seem to be extra-observant of the Queen these days – she’s used to attending so many of these events with her husband, and so this is a shift for her as well. That’s why Charles has been spending more time with the Queen. Same with the Duke of York, Prince Harry and Meghan too. Speaking of Meghan… apparently, when Meghan and Harry do the event at Buckingham Palace Tuesday night, the Queen will announce that the Sussexes are taking over as patrons to the Queen’s Young Leaders program. The Duchess of Sussex is taking over for the Queen, watch out!
Something else happened at the Royal Windsor Cup – Susan Sarandon was in attendance, and she was introduced to the Queen. Susan curtsied and shook hands with the Queen. The Daily Mail said Sarandon’s dress was “plunging,” and while I’m not a Sarandon fan in any way, shape or form at this point, I’ll defend her on this: she looked perfectly presentable to meet the Queen. Sarandon is 71 years old, and if she shows a bit of cleavage, it’s not the end of the world.

I always get a kick out of what the Queen wears. She always chooses vibrant colors. This peachy number is lovely!
I love how she wears such bright colours all the time, on most other people it’d be a hell nahh but she looks great.
She wears bright colors so she will always stand out in a crowd. She knows people come out to see her and might be disappointed if they can’t pick her out – she is really tiny and would be easy to overlook if she was wearing gray or brown.
The only times she does not wear a bright color in public is when she is attending funerals or memorial services.
You are exactly right. When I lived in the UK over the summer for 7 years people often spoke of how the Queen needed to wear vibrant colors to be noticed and certainly stand out in a crowd. I just adore her color choices, and don’t get me started on her awesome jewelry!
If I were the Queen I’d wear a tiara to every event. Just because I could.
She looks so lovely and summery here. Philip looks very frail.
Sarandon thinks HRC is too conservative and Establishment but she curtsies to a monarch? Ok then.
she’s a hypocrite
Literal champagne socialist
Can’t stomach her but I have to say she looks pretty good.
THIS. Hypocrite pig woman.
Or probably just respecting the culture of the country she’s visiting?
She’s an American. It has nothing to do with respecting culture. The Queen is not our head of state and it’s ridiculous to curtsey to her. And it’s even more ridiculous for a so-called progressive to do so.
Jesus H, and if she hadn’t curtsied you’d all be going off about what a dumb, crass American she is. She’s respecting the culture of a country in which she is a guest, which is generally something that’s encouraged.
It’s not inappropriate for an American or non-Brit to not curtsey to any monarch. She wouldn’t be attacked for it at all. Brits don’t even have to curtsey.
I just hope the Duke is goi g to be there for the Trump visit, I so want him to say something inappropriate to Trump. This is probably the only occasion I want him to be offensive.
Lol, I love it…that would make my day.
Can you imagine Trump’s handshake, to the Duke’s arthritic hand, the air would turn blue.
Nice that Prince Philip is everyone’s pick for the role of our fave racist. So cute! /s
He’s a racist, elitist pr*ck meeting another one. They’ll have more in common than not, except Philip has a few decades of twattery on Trump. The twee nonsense of this imaginary timeline where the royals are part of The Resistance is laughable.
For that reason, they will probably get along.
I’m sure Prince Phillip enjoyed the cleavage curtsy very much.
Sarandon curtsied to the queen? How progressive of her.
Lately I’ve been watching a lot of biographies on the Queen & I’ve come to adore her even more…& the fact that she’s still out there doing her thing..LOVE!!!
“Prince Philip has been retired for months, but he still makes the occasional public appearance, averaging about one or two appearances a month, by my count” – so, basically, Prince Philip, retired, does as much work as Duchess Kate.
