Good for her for saying it. I’m tired of these pearl clutching pundits.
The faux outrage from the right is mind blowing yet also not surprising. I can’t anymore.
Today’s hypocrisy From the right : Melania in soft porn = “art” , trumps profanity = “telling it like it is”. Ocasia-Cortez dancing = “inappropriate and an embarrassment”—- impeach the MF trump?= presidential harassment.
#ImpeachTheMF #ImpeachTheMF #ImpeachTheMF is trending on Twitter. It’s about F-ing time! lol
As for Rami… he was sublime as Freddy. Queen, at the Forum in LA, was the first concert I went to as a teen. LOVED them. Such a great show, and man, Freddy was charismatic to the nth degree! Just have to say, the facial prosthetics that they had Rami use were a bit too “Simpsonian” for me, and rather distracting, but he was spot on in his impersonation. Freddy was a once in a lifetime frontman. I still miss him, and Bowie… sigh….
Rami’s only real competition seems to be Christian Bale, as Cheney. Hope Rami wins!!
While you’re at it, could you put decorum’s face through a couple of windows there, Rashida?
Classy, huh? How about “i moved for impeachment and started the process, who’s with me?” Now, that has MORE impact than “mofo”…until then, it’s just circus, attention grabbing and appealing to the masses. Wake me up when/if they deliver, i’ll save my excitement til then…
I applaud the profanity but I’m not eager for impeachment. I am still way more scared of Pence- his background is a terrible combination of incompetence, stupidity, and irrational hatred of anyone not following his interpretation of the Bible. I don’t want him anywhere near the White House. Rather take on Trump in next election I think. Everything Dems do should be done with 2020 in sight.
Nuclear codes.
Keep reminding yourself that because of our idiocy in placing so much power in one person, Trump is not only causing damage domestically but also can make large areas of the world uninhabitable on a whim. Do not be comforted by people who claim he can’t launch those missiles all by his little self. HE CAN.
Mike Pence will be much less likely to do that. He is a politician with normal human emotions and a working knowledge of how government and democracy work. He is more reachable by usual political presssures. Trump is a toddler who throws tantrums and pounds his little fists on the floor when he doesn’t get what he wants, and doesn’t care who gets hurt as a result. He is a malignant narcissist and a lifetime crook.
Believe me, we will be much safer with Pence. We will have more power to hold him in check, and he actually has people in his life that he cares about. Huge difference from Trump. I don’t think we can actually survive another two years of Trump, he has done so much damage already and is accelerating in his batshit craziness.
Meanwhile, Mitch McConnell has forgotten that Congress is an independent branch of the government and is not obligated to do what Trump wants. I get that he’s a Republican and wants the Republican agenda to be pushed through, but Trump is not actually a Republican. When Trump throws a tantrum like this shutdown and both Republicans and Democrats in the Senate have clearly voted to stop it, McConnell’s obligation is to his colleagues, not the batshit crazy toddler in the White House. He should have simply sent the unanimously approved wall-free spending legislation to the President and let him either sign it or veto it; he has the votes to overturn the veto. If Trump did nothing for ten days, that legislation would have become law even before he returned from Mar-a-Lago as originally planned.
I am much more impressed by her willingness to discuss BDS. Israel is the third rail in both parties, so this will be a very slow burn issue, but Dems need to examine where they are going to stand in a post-Trump world.
Me.fucking.too.
Time to fight back!!
Impeach the bitch, throw him in prison, take away fast food and let his roommate be Mexican.
Plz Santa/God/whatever
Rami Malek’s remarks about Freddie Mercury…😭😭. Hope he wins on Sunday.
Love Rami.
Love the movie. Even if he was cast only because he looked like Freddie, still such an amazing job.
He did it justice.
Fav Queen song: Killer Queen
Oh no! She said a swear! Hey is the US Government open yet? 🙄
Can I just say I hope there will be a thread next week on the Surviving R Kelly documentary once it concludes on Sunday? It needs to be amplified as much as possible. Not to mention it needs to be said that the silence from former collaborators like Lady Gaga and Jay Z is deafening. For awhile there every site had a story on every performer’s response on Woody Allen (based on one white female accuser) so it would be more than a bit disturbing to see the entertainment media go silent in the face of MANY Black female accusers. 😒
Chance the Rapper gave a beautiful, honest apology and statement about his regret over working with R. Kelly.
Good, I am glad someone is finally voicing how I feel.
I hate how coarse society has become. I would not speak this way about anyone, no matter their politics. Why can’t we be better than this?
Because everyone isn’t you?
And calling someone a motherf*cker seems relatively mild in the face of his actions and behaviors. He’s a human turd. Pearl clutching about calling it out seems like misplaced priorities.
as long as the US has a rapist Nazi as President, I think a swearword is the least of people’s worries…
And likes to grab women by the p@ssy but I guess that is fine as well
There are literally migrant children at the border dead because of this administration’s policies. We have sunk far lower than coarse dialogue.
No kidding. People need to get their priorities straight. Children are dying under his watch and someone is worried about a few freaking words?
I agree, @NotAnotherPostcard. Trump is awful, but Democrats are also to blame for the downward spiral our country has become. As the old saying goes, two wrongs don’t make a right…
I think a freshman Congresswoman calling the president a foul name is completely unbecoming of the office she holds. Shameful.
Trolling much? This truly shameful president doesn’t let a single day go by without insulting people, but yes, blame the other side like a good stalinist troll.
Democrats literally haven’t had control of Congress – the actual lawmaking body of this country – since the first two years of Obama’s initial term. Their policies are not even remotely equivalent.
And really, if there’s anyone responsible for this downward spiral, it’s the apathetic voting population who’s sat by and let the rest of us do the work of voting until suddenly it a crisis.
What’s really shameful is that you’re trying to mitigate the actions of a racist, misogynistic, adulterous, lying, criminal by grasping at straws. He is what he is, a filthy turd of a human being who brick by brick is dismantling democracy in the U.S.
Did anyone hear Nancy Pelosi’s remarks about this? It was perfect. She said it was probably a generational thing, but she’s not a fan of this type of language, but it’s a free country and she has the right to say it. Plus Pelosi said it wasn’t worse than many of the things Trump has said and done. She also put it into perspective as the reporter was saying would this rouse Trump’s base? She said maybe a little but they really don’t need this kind of incentive to get excited so it wouldn’t amount to much on the instigation of the other side front. Other than the language she kind of just shrugged it off, and said we will get to work. One other thing I note, as I’m not really a fan of the lack of civility either, but it all starts with Trump. Maybe if he didn’t say and do so many incendiary things he would get more curtesy in return. We’ve had people on polar opposites before, and we didn’t say the things that are being said now. The main difference is Trump.
I actually agree with you, Notanotherpostcard. Why CAN’T we better than that with our language? Why do we need to sink to their level? Yes, all is true. He’s the worst president in our nation’s history. Did anyone catch him PUSHING the Prime Minister of Madagascar out of the way?? I mean PUSH to where my mouth dropped open in shock.
If we can’t be better than them on ALL fronts, then we are… no better than them. It’s a slippery slope once you go there.
In fairness, given the emotional incest on display in the Trump family, it’s possible that MFer is a descriptor, not an epithet.
Like button.👍🏻
Sometimes a situation, or a person, is so obscene that only profanity can do it justice. I applaud Congresswoman Tlaib for her clarity.
The world would be a softer place without Trump and his cronies in power. Impeach the mf’er!
Right now I want the Dems to focused on ending his government shutdown. And to get legislation passed that will stop shutdowns from even happening. They are ridiculous, embarrassing, and shouldn’t be happening at the frequency that they’ve been. They can worry about impeaching Trump after.
Seriously. February 1st is when food stamp programs can’t continue after the shutdown, right? There’s a hell of a lot more people affected by this than just government employees.
Albeit, the public should remember well who is responsible for this latest series of embarrassments. The last president to field this many shutdowns was Reagan, and he didn’t have the benefit of full party control – and even then, none of the shutdowns lasted more than twenty-four hours. The current Republican-led Congress drove us into four shutdowns despite having major party control during three of them. Out of total of eleven shutdowns in history, they’ve been responsible for a third of them.
The House passed pretty much the same bill the Senate passed in December yesterday, so they are trying. But now the Senate is refusing to vote and give it to the President. Who might veto it, but who really knows as he has waffled about all this. Today the President said he could just build the wall himself and declare it an emergency. If he could do that why isn’t he doing it, instead of shutting down the government. It’s just ridiculous and all Trump’s fault, like he said it was a few weeks ago.
I don’t blame her for feeling that way, but a public statement by an elected official. Nope. Nah. You can’t complain about trumps crassness and say this is OK at the same time, Privately ? Sure.
I am guilty of crass language myself, for sure, But not publicly at my job.
I always appreciated that old quote about the English language being Rich and robust e ought to express yourself adequately without resorting to foul language.
And all this talk of impeachment at this time is ridiculous, fruitless and wasteful of resources. It would never get passed in the senate now. Let muellers work continue to unfold, and then see where it lands. Some R senators would likely vote for impeachment later…..but not now, So don’t waste time, energy and resources on it,….just yet.
BUDDYJACK, I agree with all you said!
It was a private statement, she was relating a conversation she had with her son. She didn’t say it on the floor of the House. But I’m sure the people who voted for her approved. That phrase is no worse than the “damn” of my extreme youth and is heard everywhere – and I’m quite sure the hallowed halls of Congress have heard it many times.
Diversity means diversity in language also. Pelosi said it right.
Someone called it “lady locker room talk”. I like it!
Love that!
Ordinarily this would bother me because it seems unprofessional, but we aren’t in ordinary times anymore.
I’ll defend this forever. Trump has said and continues to say much worse. Funny how they give all of that a pass but lose their shit over a single curse word. Any ideas why that is? *Jeopardy theme plays*
I don’t think sinking to his level is the best idea. I also don’t think it will help the national discourse to start calling each other’s politicians m.f.’ers. This is politics devolving into a playground fight between two 9 year olds.
Actually nine year olds are in cages at borders but sure you can be upset about a woman cussing.
Hope there will be a Golden Globe thread tomorrow night, I need a distraction from the sh*tshow that is our government.
She’s representing the people of her district as she was elected to do. You think the people of Detroit have nice things to say about Trump? Spoiler: They don’t. I live here. And I’m proud to have her speak for me, in exactly the words I would have chosen.
“Impeach the m…f… already” aka #itmfa is a phrase first coined by Dan Savage, whose fabulous podcast and advice column I highly recommend. The ITMFA merch has raised $250K (!!) which has gone to support Planned Parenthood, ACLU and Int’l Refugee Project
