When Amy Klobuchar announced her presidential candidacy, it felt like all of the biggest “hype candidates” had finally gotten into the race. Between Kamala Harris, Cory Booker and Klobuchar, we should be able to choose someone good to beat the f–k out of the Deplorables. My biggest worry is that Joe Biden is going to dither for many more months and then try to hijack the primaries. My other big worry? Bernie Sanders is going to ruin everything and the Bernie Bros will have learned absolutely nothing. Well, guess what. Bernie Sanders is running again. And he’s already pissing me off. This is part of what he said in his campaign announcement speech today:
“I think the current occupant of the White House is an embarrassment to our country,” Sanders said. “I think he is a pathological liar… I also think he is a racist, a sexist, a homophobe, a xenophobe, somebody who is gaining cheap political points by trying to pick on minorities, often undocumented immigrants.”
Sanders acknowledged he will encounter a “very different campaign,” than in 2016, when he emerged as the sole serious challenger to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and won 23 primaries and caucuses. A diverse Democratic field includes more than a dozen candidates who have either formally declared or expressed serious interest. The challengers include five of Sanders’ colleagues in the U.S. Senate — Cory Booker, Kirsten Gillibrand, Kamala Harris, Amy Klobuchar and Elizabeth Warren.
When asked by VPR’s Bob Kinzel about concerns that he no longer best represents “the face of the new Democratic Party,” Sanders, 77, said:
“We have got to look at candidates, you know, not by the color of their skin, not by their sexual orientation or their gender and not by their age,” Sanders said. “I mean, I think we have got to try to move us toward a non-discriminatory society which looks at people based on their abilities, based on what they stand for.” Sanders also touted his health and “energy level.”
Only white dudes talk about being color-blind or blind to sexuality or gender or age. He’s 77 years old and living his pipe dream of being the “outsider truth-teller” when really he’s nothing more than a bitter old spoiler. The thing about it is, he could have had real power in the last election and this election – he could have sat this one out and thrown his full-throated support to the strongest candidate. Instead, he’s on another ego trip.
#NeverBernie is trending, and I hope it continues. Democrats have the most diverse field of candidates in history, but sure, let’s waste all this time on a 77-year-old white guy.

“We have got to look at candidates, you know, not by the color of their skin, not by their sexual orientation or their gender and not by their age.”
Alrighty then.
This makes me so angry that he keeps insinuating that the only reason some candidates are popular are because they are WOC or gay or women. It’s the same latent rac*st crap I’ve dealt with before—the implication that I was accepted at a particular college was because I was Black or that I received a certain job because I was a Black woman and so on.
He said something not along ago and he used to say this a lot in 2016, so he hasn’t learned. And many of his surrogates have pushed this message, claiming they are the only ones who care about “policy and not personality.” It’s so damn arrogant (and there’s a darker implication linked to my first paragraph) to pretend that the other candidates don’t have policy. Hell, both Warren and Klobuchar, on opposite sides on the left, have contributed to a ton of legislation and have clear cut ideas. So has Booker, Harris, Castro, Brown, and so on.
My policies are actually somewhat in line with him, but I just can’t get over this sh*t and I think he has no chance in h*ll because the Clinton campaign never went scorched earth on him because they were terrified of alienating his followers. Why can’t he and Biden leave it to Warren, Klobuchar, Harris, Buttigieg, Castro, Brown, and Gillibrand who collectively represent the entire spectrum of the American left. It’s not like there is a lack of leftist American candidates or moderate ones.
All of this! And to add: If one more snot-nosed Bernie Bro, “yells” at me that “He marched for civil rights in the 60s!!!!!”…well, I don’t know what. But I find it intolerable. First of all, YES, WE KNOW! We KNOWWWWW!!!!! Grrrrrrrr. But what you don’t understand, kid, is that just because someone marched in the 60s for civil rights doesn’t mean he understands how casual racism and implicit bias racism infect current day institutions and realities.
Like you, I lean left. Even supported Bernie in the 2016 primaries. But he’s stuck his foot in his mouth one too many times since then, and I’m done. His supporters do him zero favors, too.
I wish the Democratic party could refuse him running as a Democrat. It’s so F’d up he runs as a dem, then when he inevitably helps the nightmare Republican win, he runs back to his safe little ‘Independent’ haven.
Also, I agree that his finger wagging Democrats for daring to be diverse is another ‘tell,’ if you read between the lines, he’s echoing racist rightwing thinktank BS designed to further polarize the country. Delehitimizing Dems because of their diversity, which doesn’t get any wacker. It’s no different from pundits on Fox, screaming their new ‘Identity politics’ buzzphrase.
Lastly, look at his statement: do you see anything about Putin, Russia, Trump treason, Trump compromat)?? Nope. He’s just shaming Dems for being black, brown and female I guess. But the day after a former FBI director literally says of our country’s Intel services, ‘We wondered if Putin was controlling the White House.’ Bernie Sanders reacts by shaming Dems for being inclusive? Nothing to say about getting the Putin puppet impeached and thrown out of office. In fact he’s envisioning Trump campaigning and running as his top competitor. It’s like he’s doing Trump (and Putin) a favor by accepting that he will be the candidate (R).
Yet again
Yes! Sweet baby Jesus save me from old White men trying to save me. The bros etc. can eff off. I like Biden more and I wouldn’t vote for him either. Liking, or a small admiration for certain stances, is not enough and I’ve seen we can have better.
He’s learned NOTHING since 2016, he needs to sit down.
He will do the same thing, as he did in ’16. STFD Bernie, and STFU! His ego is almost on level to Fat Nixon’s! I wish the Dems wouldn’t allow him to run as a D, as he only did it to access DNC $$$$$$ that he wouldn’t’ve had as an Independent.
but he won’t, he’s bought into the whole Bernie is the Messiah press his stans keep screaming about. He hasn’t released his tax records to my knowledge and the the sexual harassment of his female staffers during the 2016 campaign – well it’s Bernie so he’s allowed to be that way because according to his fans, nobody was liberal until Bernie created a movement that everyone else copies.
Sadly, with the # of dems running, Sanders may have a shot at the nomination b/c of vote splitting for other candidates (which is how Trump got the nomination)
my fear about him running as 3rd party is that he has enough stans on the left to be a spoiler
He is a grifter. He is in this for personal gain. Take a look at his last election. He paid his wife 98K a month, yes a month, to campaign for him. He gave his step daughter 500K for “educational fees” he stayed in the race when it was lost to him to make more coin. He is a v v v BIG reason the circus peanut is in the Oval Office. He is & has always been a misogynist. He needs to STFU & sit down . Anyone who misses this isn’t looking. The man honeymooned in Moscow & claims socialism yet owns 4 homes. He is Napoleon from Animal Farm.
This is white supremacist talk masquerading as some pseudo-woke bullsh*t.
Yes, Notbuying, really. As I see it, this is one of “Team Bernie’s” biggest problems. They don’t understand, for lack of a better phrase, the subtleties of modern-day racism. Then, when some of us try to calmly explain our concerns about Bernie, we’re met with dismissiveness and arrogance and, lately, accusations of being a Russian troll.
I’ll be honest: The last thing 40-year-old, black me wants is some 20-year-old white kid telling me what is and isn’t racism. And the Bernie camp is very guilty of this. Please understand that I’m NOT accusing you of doing that — not by any means. Just speaking generally. It’s what I encounter a lot online and some of the popular leftie YouTube news shows.
Socialism does not recognize race, only money. Everyone is poor (former Soviet Union) as to be easily controlled. Race is not a factor.
TabithaStevens: Race is a factor — and pretending it’s not, is a form of racism. Socialization is a real aspect of culture and society, and one component of it is race. Ignoring something because it’s inconvenient to your talking points is very problematic and ahistorical.
I dated a Bernie bro- such a confusing dude. He was anti wealth, yet grew up to be educated pampered , marched in the women’s march, yet told me he broke off w a gf cuz she was “out of shape”. Also didn’t work but lived in someone’s plush ADU. Priv met hypocrisy and I left them to live happily ever after.
Bernie is so arrogant. If this were anything other than an ego trip, he would have endorsed Elizabeth Warren the second she declared. He’s been stealing her talking points about a rigged system for years.
This is basically a talking point Fox News makes all the time.
I’m not on board with Bernie running for 2020. I wish he wasn’t. The field is already so crowded and a crowded field is going to make for a divided voter base. That’s how Mr. Orange got through the GOP primaries in 2016. That said, I don’t think you can call Bernie a racist or white-supremicist. He literally marched with MLK Jr. He has been on the front lines confronting racism for his entire political career. I don’t think you can parse one statement and apply it to say any of those things about his character.
He has not been on the front lines confronting racism his whole career. He marched ONE time during the 60s. He then hightailed it to all white Vermont and did not do a damn thing for black people, and in fact, the black people in his own state say they cannot get his attention. So please do not spread that false information.
Right on Darla. This “But he marched with King!” talking point needs to die. Because (in my best Joy Behar voice) “So What!” One display of white-savior-dom nearly 60 years ago does not a lifelong activist make. Now, I am not saying he is a threat-level-red racist, but he does have some giant blind spots — enough for a hard pass…from me.
Oh god. Go away already.
Bernie himself, is 100 time better than Tump but the Bernie bros ugh….Honestly at least I know how to deal with the Red hats but the Bernie bros are self-righteous, condescending believe they are better than every one else ashats without knowing they are ashats.
They are whom I dread the most.
Bernie managed to brush off the scandal about rampant sexual harassment on his campaign, but it may come back to haunt him. If that happens, the Bernie Bros will go apoplectic on Twitter.
He’s too old.
He’s too left for most Dems and undecided voters.
He’ll divide the Dem base. AGAIN.
Go away Bernie.
He’s 77 now…by the time he’d be president he’ll be about 80. There needs to be an upper age limit for the presidency. This is ridiculous.
Noooooo……….I like Amy, she seems the most sensible, to me anyway.
Except when she’s rage emailing and throwing things at her staff. Highest staff turnover in the Senate is a big red flag, and the pressures of the Presidency would only make things worse. When one does not respect their staff, and belittles and demeans them, and freaking throws things, they are not decent human beings and should not be running the country. There are better options.
I don’t know….I never know what to believe any more. I’m going to get on her train for now. Anything is better than what we have. I do like Kamala Harris too though.
Catlady – I completely agree. She was lost to me after I read those articles about how she treats her staff. I need to believe in people even when the world isn’t watching
Yes, this! With so many candidates to choose from, she’s at the bottom of the list for me ever since I heard about this. How you treat your staff speaks to your empathy. It matters.
Right?! I’ve had abusive bosses, and I’m not voting for a person that terrorizes their own staff.
It says something about a person that treats their employees this way, no doubt. As much as HRC was vilified, people who worked with her always had incredible things to say about how she treated the members of her staff. Same with Obama.
Yep. I really respected her until I read those articles. If the allegations are legit, she’s a big disappointment. I worked for a boss like that and it was hell on earth. Last thing we need in the Oval are more temper tantrums.
Yeah, you can have “high standards” and still be a decent human being. The two are not mutually exclusive. How you treat those “beneath” you is the best judge of character. I expect better from a Minnesotan and a prospective president.
What???? I totally miss this about her and had no idea she did this. Articles are mentioned, which articles, magazine or newspaper?
isabelle, to get started just google using these search terms: Amy Klobuchar, Buzzfeed, staff.
Rage and humiliation are a common theme.
I think that the timing of the Amy Klobuchar is a mean boss stories is too suspicious. It’s not a coincidence that the whisper campaign started shortly before her campaign launch.
Minnesota is a very engaged state politically. If there was any truth to these rumors, they would have surfaced and been used against Klobuchar by both Democratic rivals and Republican opponents in earlier elections.
Hope she never gets mad at you and throws a binder at your head!
Really like Sherrod Brown and Amy. Both will have a hard time attaining the nomination unfortunately.
Let me guess, you think it’s “fake news”? You’re honestly just picking and choosing what news to believe, if it doesn’t align with your world view.
Let’s not be so condescending please, Rich. I don’t sit and read/watch news 24/7. I’m sure I’ll figure it out, thanks for the ‘non-judgmental’ concern.
@Rich: lol.
I really like Amy too. She did a great job at her CNN Town Hall last night. I found myself agreeing with everything she was saying, especially her views on free college. I was really sad to hear about how she treated her staff. Oh well, I’m still #neverbernie.
thanks cat lady, will look it up.
He’s an Independent, run as that.
I was a Bernie supporter before Hillary got the nomination, but he’s just showing himself, to me, to be a very selfish man.
Same. Voted for him in the primary. He should run as an independent if he is going to run.
If he runs as an independent, that will ensure that Trump wins.
Well, if people are selfish enough to vote for any third party candidate after these past few years with the current buffon in office, they will get what they deserve, but unfortunately many sane people will be drug down with them.
Precisely. Let him run as a Democrat and get defeated in the primaries. If he runs as an independent, he will be the Ross Perot of 2020.
I don’t know why nobody talks about this. People seem to get it with Howard Schultz but not with Bernie for some reason. He SHOULD run as a Dem if we want any hope of winning.
100%!!!!
Tis idea is possibly the worst idea possible for 2020. People are underestimating the stupidity of the Bernie bros.
Just 2 weeks ago he and his team was saying how he’s a independent when getting called out on the SOTU commentary. You don’t then get to turn around and run as a dem and then complain when they don’t welcome you with open arms.
When he loses (and he WILL lose) he’s going to trash talk the eventual winner and ruin the election again. And you know he’ll stay in to the last primary because his ego won’t let him do otherwise.
Last time I didn’t mind him-this time the stakes are to high to deal with it.
Really, you think it was Bernie Sanders who ruined the election? Not the DNC? Not the GOP? Not Russia’s campaign of misinformation? Not Comey? OK, seems like you learned nothing in the last 3 years.
Democrats need to get on board with the wave of socialist democrats that are very popular with the youth. There are many people who feel like the democratic party are in the same pockets as the GOP. While I don’t agree that the 2 parties are the same, it is legitimate to point out that the democrats support the military & prison industrial complex, including Kamala Harris.
What do you think Medicare for all is? Did you know you will still have to pay 20% of your medical bills? Did you know that you will be denied many procedures and medications? Did you know if you need something like a knee replacement or many other things, you will still need your own private insurance?
Well what about Tulsi Gabbard, who is staunchly anti war. Nobody even mentioned her here. The rest of them are as big warmongers as any conservative.
Bernie was a sheep dog last election, and as he’s thrown his hat in the ring that’s what he’ll be again. Just watch for either Biden or Hillary to announce soon.
This..I’m tired of hearing how the dems treated him so badly when he has long been an independent who wanted dem re$ources while dividing that party
THANK YOU! That was my number one complaint in 2016—you don’t go switching parties to access money and a nomination. I also hate how he yells/lectures like a crotchety was of grandpa that knows better than me. This is SUCH an ego trip and I swear to GOD if it causes another Trump term, I will lose it and everyone will have BS to thank.
Same.
Somewhere 45 is having a good chuckle while eating cheeseburgers and guzzling Diet Coke
Seriously. All of these shenanigans are ensuring his reelection.
….and Susan Sarandon wet her pants with excitement.
No old white men 2020
This is a slogan I can get behind.
I vote that all of us who are on board with this start carrying this sign at protests from now on.
I voted for Bernie in the primary, and I was disappointed that I couldn’t vote for him as president, but there are so many reasons he won’t be my primary choice this time around, including the fact that white men need to sit down and let someone else have a chance at the podium.
eh…like Sherrod Brown honestly although he isn’t that old. A hell no to Bernie.
Sherrod beat his first wife. She forgave him for it but that is a deal breaker for me.
Oh gawd… didn’t know that info. Any articles on it or just a simple Google search?
He will split the party again, given the chance. There is LOTS of oppo out there on this dude, that hillary never used because she didn’t want to offend his supporters, so she staged a pillow fight instead.
Take him out hard. Take him out fast.
Amen. If he’s in, it’s hands down for another trump 4. Take him out hard and fast for real Darla.
^ This. His wife, his tax returns, his sexism & racism, his connections to Russia, his campaign and it’s workers, his refusal to sanction Russia. Watch out for Russian trolls running pro-Bernie campaigns again, smearing the actual democrats running.
Yep! And I want a full airing of his right hand boy, Tad Devine. You know, Manafort’s business partner??
Thank you, Steff!! I’m waiting for MSM to bring all this up!
My only fear is while this may help sway some, the bulk of the “bros.” are like kids watching bugs fight. They get a kick out of “spoiling”. It’s not necessarily the politics of it.
I LOVE Kamala and Amy. I think either would make a great President. But I’m also worried that, in the current climate, and with republiTHUG gerrymandering, a woman might not make it all the way. I wouldn’t mind Biden running with either with the knowledge he will be a ONE term pres. and then throw full weight behind his VP.
I realize we need new blood/ideas in office, but what we need more is someone electable, esp. with older voters who seem to get out and vote in bigger numbers than millennials, at least, for now.
BTW, if you’ve not checked out Sherridan Brown and Pete Buttiegiet (sp?), do so. I think they’re both really good, too, though they don’t have much national recognition yet.
How about Bernie’s demand that Trump not rebuke fellow Socialist Nicolas Maduro of Venezuela while ninety percent of the country’s citizens are starving to death under a socialist government.
Ridiculous. He could have used a lot more against her than he did too. She isn’t pure as the driven snow, far from it. Had they run anyone else against trump, they would have won.
This tweet sums it up perfectly.
https://twitter.com/Eedwardsellis/status/1097151698492104704
Even worse than Bernie is his fan club. If he’s as popular as they make him out to be, then he can run as an Independent and win.
He’s amplified by swarming bots. That tweet says it all!
That does sum it up well!
If he really feels that way about Dump, as he should, he could take all of the support he has and give it to another candidate so that everyone can work together to give Dump the boot.
Anything other than that is selfish and foolish.
I saw that the other day; and yup, that pretty much sums it up. If Bernie didn’t want the Dem $$$$$$$$ he wouldn’t have ANYTHING good to say about a Dem.
I would say that Bernie Sanders treats the democratic party like what it is, a fundraising organization that’s more invested in protecting centrist political elites than helping working people. If he’s able to win support from democratic primary voters (by championing causes like Medicare for All) then shouldn’t the spoils of the organization follow those votes?!?
I’m a registered democrat and my favorite thing about Bernie is that he isn’t.
Did he gain support from democratic primary voters though?
Lets take a look at Washington state as the perfect example:
27 thousand voters caucused in 2016. Bernie won them.
HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS voted in the primary, Hillary won.
Guess who got the delegates? Bernie.
Caucuses are undemocratic because they suppress turnout. Bernie loves them. LOVES them. Wants them all to be caucuses. Because his base of loser bros, like my ex btw, have nothing to do but stand around for hours. They certainly don’t have jobs. Don’t @ me. I know of what I speak. All too well. My marxist, bernie loving ex couldn’t hold a job and called hillary a corporate whore, but ran up amazon bills on this corporate whores account. Oh he was happy to do that. So corporate whores like me dont have time to caucus. Neither do the disabled, hourly workers, etc.
No cransburry, everyone does not know that, because it’s a falsehood spread by spoiled berners.
I watched in real time as Bernie was caught breaking into hillary’s data, and stealing it. HE then sued the DNC for catching him stealing Hillary’s data, and went on a campaign to discredit the DNC for caching him stealing. My, how Trumpian! I also want to know who Devine gave that data to. Was it passed to his business partner Manafort, and thus to the Russians?
Further, the ONLY candidate who attempted to use the super delegates to overturn the will of the voters, was, you guessed it, bernie sanders. Who himself is a super delegate.
Sell this to people less informed than me. I will be here every single day for you guys btw. YOu dont get away with this 2020.
Not this time. Not this time.
He lost by 20 points to HRC. That isn’t being a “serious challenger”.
Go away, Bernie.
Do you mean electoral votes, how does one lose by points in a primary? Seriosuly question.
Washington state has both a caucus and a primary for Democrats. The caucus determines the delegates to the convention. Honestly, I can’t quite figure out why we have a primary too, for the presidential race at any rate. At this point it feels like a government sponsored opinion poll, it has no meaning beyond that.
oops, @isabelle, I thought you were asking your question of Darla above.
That’s egotistical af. He’s 77! Entitled white men just really think highly of themselves. Like that Democrat caught doing blackface in his med school yearbook. Refuses to step down, keeps trying to “fix” it and makes it worse. I need some of the ego of these men. Now we’re gonna get fucked again. Thanks Bernie.
Well, Northam did read a chapter of ‘Roots’ and learned the difference between an indentured servant and a slave. What more could you want? LOL. I want to start a petition to get his rear end out of governor’s office even if they have to pick him up and toss him out of the window.
TS, Great. Now do Steve King. And how about Trump next?
Other than his big old ego, I have no idea why he’s doing this. He can’t play the progressive card when Warren is already in and the recent bad press about racism and sexual harassment on his last campaign will do him no favors with women and POC. Plus I’m sure Beto will get the populist rock star youth vote this time. I don’t see what Bernie’s angle or contribution to this is.
I think Schumer is trying to get Beto to run for Coryn’s senate seat in TX. So I am not sure he’s going to run for president. This does pose a problem for the bros, who simply cannot idolize a woman or POC. There is an opening here and Bernie is hoping that that, along with the large field will allow him to pull a Trump and squeeze through. This is why he needs to be hit with a huge oppo dump early on. I just hope the Dems know what to do. I know Perez doesn’t, he’s an idiot. I have some hope for Kamala’s people.
I really don’t think Beto is going to squander this chance because it will never come again. Lightning doesn’t strike twice and won’t for Bernie either. It’s interesting to note that several major architects of Bernie 2016, like Becky Bond, worked on Beto’s senate campaign and have stated they’ll stick with Beto now (which is one of the reasons Berners hate Beto). Beto will get the bro and youth vote and attract huge crowds. Personally, I think he was waiting for Sanders to enter first.
I’m sure he’s getting paid to help Trump. Siphon off votes from Dems. He’s vile.
F*ck you, Bernie. You and your Bros will just suck the air out of the room for everyone else. You are too old, too white, too Male, too narcissistic, too racist, too sexist, too corrupt, and too damn stupid to be running. Most of your ideas are not feasible in today’s political climate, and you are not capable of making them happen, even if they were.
F*ck you for making this all about you. Again. F*ck you for caring more about yourself than the good of the country. If you get us 4 more years of Trump, I will never forgive you.
I have not and will not ever forgive him for his actions toward Sec Clinton ( and NO her was not a sole serious challenger, she wiped the floor with him) or his speech and actions at the DNC when Sec Clinton accepted the nomination.
I get why Clinton welcomed him into the fold, but I hope these candidates destroy him and his ego this time around.
He is not a Democrat. He will never have my support. I am strongly suspicious of his motives. Tad Devine being involved in his previous campaign is a deal breaker for me. Devine was a partner of Paul Manafort, and helped install the Putin-backed Viktor Yanukovych in Ukraine.
THIS^^^^^. THIS needs to be screamed out every single day, everywhere!!! This connection to Manafort and this whole mess we’re in now!
I am so angry. And I LIKED Bernie last time around, or at least his ideas (voted for him in the primary before ultimately supporting Hillary), until I realized how divisive and ultimately damaging he was for liberals. I can’t forgive him for that.
We need a small pool of Democrats running this year, with the ONLY goal of getting Trump out. I’m quite progressive and don’t particularly want a moderate president, but I think we need a candidate who at least SAYS they’ll be moderate in order to get Trump out of the White House. Which is literally all that matters. It’s the only thing that matters. We can save our bold, forward-thinking ideas for after Trump is gone, but before then I want none of Bernie’s BS.
Case..I’m 100% with you on that. As much as I would love to see Kamala or even a someone as progressive as Beto, I just don’t think America is ready for it. Trump set us back so far. I think a moderate Dem will be able to pull in some Republican votes and hopefully that’ll be enough to get Trump out. I do think Biden could do it. I’d love to see him name Kamala as a running mate.
Given the reaction I’m seeing on social media this landed with a big thud, even people who supported him last time don’t want him to run.
I hope Biden notes the negative reaction and realizes his time has also passed.
Go away!!
ah yes, the old, rich white man saying we shouldn’t focus so much on wanting to elect women, people of colour and younger voices…. ugh Bernie..stop!
SO MUCH UGH.
Why does it feel like we’ve just re-elected Trump?
Where are his tax returns??? I need all tax returns released for at least the past ten years. After he was FORCED, he released one PARTIAL tax return. All Dems must do like Hillary did, be completely transparent and release all tax returns. Nothing less will do. He needs to be hammered on this, every day, by media and Dem allies.
WHERE ARE YOUR TAX RETURNS BERNIE??
Yep. There needs to be a rule that any candidate MUST release the last ten years of tax returns. No exceptions, not after Trump.
As a life long Dem, I am hoping that Bernie and Joe Biden use their decades of service and experience in politics to throw a huge push behind whoever the Dems candidate turns out to be. Not Biden, not Bernie, not Hilary again. They must put egos aside and find a younger, well-spoken, candidate.
Trump must be defeated.
MN here and while I do think Amy K. has done a good job as Senator here, IMO, she is not a strong enough candidate to win as POTUS. Even Al Franken, after his decades as Senator, he did not have the PTB behind him to run/win.
My concern is that the list of Dems declaring their intent to run is going to turn out to be a long, messy, ugly fight that will turn voters off, and the MAGA/Trump supports will continue to live in denial but will re-elect that idiot clown.
In my minds eye, in a perfect world, the best case….all the former Dems front runners/leaders put their personal thirst for power aside and work together to find a candidate that can actually do the job. Then work together to get said candidate elected.
In the real world…I’m that cynical that I realize that won’t happen.
God help us all.
Here you go. See this guy here? Once he gets his free college and becomes a part of the well off, and ages…he will be voting for cons who want to take away MY social security and state, without one hint of irony to his friends: everyone’s got to have some skin the game.

Mark my words…
Bernie Sanders will go all out in a verbal war with Emperor Zero and use this psychological advantage to sway Dem voters his way.
Don’t fall for it and split the Dem vote so that EZ wins in 2020.
Yep. Bernie is controlled opposition.
I would and will happily vote for him.
I’d vote for him if he won the democratic candidacy, because I’d vote for a stale piece of cheese at this point, but I’m certainly not voting for him in the primaries (and I like his ideas).
Same. I’m voting for anyone not Trump, but I really don’t want it to be Bernie.
Same, Millenial. I can’t match the same amount of outrage for him that many of my fellow C/Bers have but I also think we can do much, much better. I can’t see Bernie getting the white women vote or the PoC vote.
Putin would love to give you a big juicy kiss first. He approves.
Almost all of Latin America is going center-right after years of policies like what Bernie promotes destroyed the countries. This is really the best way to ensure Trump stays in power.
Aren’t they going right because of corruption?
That too. But people would care less about corruption if their economy weren’t in shambles. There’s corruption all across the board, but at this point people just want stability. It’s happened in other countries already, you just need to install the panic by mentioning Venezuela and people freak.
Aside from that, I think Bernie had his chance. It would be nice to see some new blood to refresh the stale politics in the US. That’s what some people thought Trump was about at one point, but obviously that wasn’t really the case. Hopefully this time the Democrats can agree on one powerful candidate and put all of their weight behind them instead of dividing voters.
I voted for Bernie in the 2016 primary (and Hillary in the general). And now I want him to sit down and stfu. I am sick and tired of old white and white-adjacent men in power.
Same.
Listen, I’ll vote for whoever the Democratic Party candidate is, and campaign for them enthusiastically, because nothing is more important than beating Trump. But I don’t think Bernie believes that… he certainly didn’t in 2016.
Gah! These old, narcissistic farts just don’t want to go. White men in America, I think it will come down to you to tell this old fart to sit this one out.
This means we’ll be seeing #feelthebern everywhere again. 🙄
My choice is Kamala. I’ve admired her since she laid into that doughboy drunk Kavanaugh. I kind of doubt she could win though. I have a sinking feeling Biden will appear and get the nomination.
Ironic, with the news about Karl Lagerfield and all… like the universe is trying to warn us.
I have a lovely visual of Bernie at the Democratic convention pushing a walker and hooked up to oxygen; still trying to portray himself as THE fresh, young face of the party. Sit down Bernie, you’re rocking the boat!
Look. I’m a lefty socialist who loves much of his platform and who admires his career and the way he’s always fought for greater economic justice
BUT!!!! Can someone please please please tell the old white men to sit the f*$ck down and let everyone else step into leadership roles? I’m looking at you, Bernie, and you, Biden. If people want Hilary to just go away already, then we really really need Bernie to do the same.
I live in Austin and y’all, the Bernie bros here during 2016 were a real thing. I had several ugly run-ins.
I mean, I will definitely 100% vote for whomever gets the Dem nomination but please can it not be him?
Completely agree with everything you said. Wish people like us had more of a voice on social media versus the rabid Bernie Bros and #NeverBernie folks. The kind of divisiveness that both sides create is so toxic to the party.
Mostly, I don’t understand why we have to relive 2016 again. Neither Biden nor Bernie nor any other old white male politician is the face/voice that I want for the Democratic party. That doesn’t mean that I hate Bernie or Biden, just means that we can and should do better.
If Biden ran and said he was doing it for the good of your country, promised to be a one term President. Why wouldn’t that be a good thing?
Cheeto has done so much damage to the US at home and abroad. Biden has an excellent reputation and it looked like President Obama adored him.
Anything to get rid of that orange wannabe dictator. Our current government in Australia is really starting to follow his cues and I despair for the corruption and cruelty on display. Our only saving grace is our election is this year.
I am not a fan of his and I do think his age might be an issue. but the comments here are stupid. if you don’t like what he stands for, okay. but to dislike him because he’s white and male is not wise. I am all for women and would like more women in politics, but just because somebody is a woman doesn’t make her better than any man.
Because old white men have been doing such a great job of running our country?
Or because you believe that the leaders in the Democratic Party shouldn’t resemble their main voting base?
In America, white men have had several hundred years of assuring women and minorities that they cannot be trusted to use their power to the benefit of anybody but themselves. Not that I trust white women much farther than I can throw them, but I’ve exhausted my ability to care about white male feelings after 2016 and even more tired of the strawman arguments about assuming women are inherently better candidates for no reason, as if sociopolitical alignment and experiential empathy isn’t hugely significant to how we perceive each other.
If they want people to stop categorizing them negatively, they shouldn’t have a.) set the rules of minority hierarchical categorization in the first place, b.) stop being such a f*cking disappointment as a group of human beings. When 60% of the white male population of America tells you a white supremacist POS is their preferred candidate to a woman with 30+ years of experience, take them at their goddamn word for what they are. I am a thirty-two year old LGBT+ white woman, and I am inherently wary of white men these days out of concern for my survival and basic access to rights, not because I think it’s f*cking fun.

Love this post.
I also LOVE your post Veronica..so spot on..so very spot on,
If you are a registered Democrat and member of the DNC, contact your local DNC officials and let them know whether or not you want Independents on your party’s primary ballots. I do not.
Thanks for giving us something practical to do about this, LP.
Putin woke up to a good day hearing this news. His trolls will be getting overtime at the announcement. Don’t forget Russia heavily influenced through Bernie bros and they were the man targets of Russian meddling.
Bernie base is a propaganda machine for Putin and Russia.
Listen, if you weren’t a HIllary supporter, DURING THE PRIMARY, you don’t know. And you best believe there are hard feelings.
I broke up with a bf over this. He ranted at me like Rush Limbaugh and blew up my phone with anti hillary crazy talk. I stopped talking to an ex who used I used to be close to.
We were shamed, we were bullied, (many of us right at the caucuses!!!!!), we were driven into private groups, and we believe our submission to this bullying helped trump win, because we allowed the bernie narrative of hillary is a corporate whore who no one really likes to take hold. We didn’t fight back.
Yo, we are fighting back this time. So if you don’t know, stand aside.
Absolutely this. No one associated with the last election should be involved, there are way too many hard feelings. Bernie is a divider, not a unifier, period.
The only upsides to this are Bernie’s eventual crushing defeat and the fact that none of the Democratic contenders are going to let him peddle any of his rhetoric on the debate stage in the way that Hillary did. She had the nomination sewn up so she didn’t have to push back as hard. No Senator or VP on that debate stage is going to let him bash the Democratic Party without a sharp rebuke.
This mofo needs to hang it up. We are not going to be bullied by his stupid fans this time around.
Noooooooooooo!
I got like three hours of sleep last night, and I just do NOT need this sh!t today. Bernie, go away! “This is why we can’t have nice things” – Mallory Archer. (Sorry, Taylor, Mallory said it first).
First let me say, if Bernie wins the nomination I will vote for him. He is a billion times better than Trump. Period. End of story.
But I’ve got to say the fact he’s NOT a Democrat is 100% relevant. Whoever wins will be the defacto leader of the party and if we want to accomplish anything we need Dems in Senate & House seats from purple areas. Is he willing to show support for centrists? (Don’t bother arguing that far left candidates can win all over the country. If that was true then they would’ve done better in the 2018 midterms. The Democrats won back the House largely because educated women who may have voted Republican in the past are done with the GOP. They’ve had enough. Moreoever, Democratic women candidates were the big story of the midterms. Some left, some moderate. Social activists & ex military. The whole spectrum. Not far left candidates in general. Let’s get that straight upfront. )
Hell what about liberals who are more pragmatic and want to push incremental changes rather than big bold measures? I don’t think he’s inclined to support them either as the leader of the party
So I think we need an actual DEMOCRAT to win the nomination. In fact, I’d argue we need that this year more than any other in recent years because Obama and the Clintons have left the stage. So we do not have a real party leader (the closest IMO is Nancy Pelosi). The fact is, this is just not his thing. He likes being an independent. Good for him. I’d rather see the Democratic Party be rebuilt after the massive state house destruction of the Obama years. People can bitch about all the centrist Democrats & neoliberal shills blah blah but the Democratic Party is our ONLY line of defense against the shitshow of lies, treason, corporatism over people, hypocritical evangelism and barely concealed racist, xenophobic demagoguery known as the GOP.
Last point: Frankly, I’m not sure what the party gains with him running when we already have Elizabeth Warren in the field and Cory, Kirsten and a few others are jockeying to out flank him on the left.
He should take that as a win. His success led a number of Senates to go left. The best thing he could do is throw his support behind one of those candidates. His endorsement would mean alot to his supporters right now. It’ll mean alot less after those candidates have been ripped to shreds for not being ideologically pure.
Ugh…he’s too liberal and he is part of the reason why we lost the last election to Trump. Stay out of it Bernie.
Let the smears begin. Oh wait, they never stopped.
+1
Really hope he loses the first few primaries BADLY, or maybe even just drops out in the next year.
All the candidates so far, I’ve felt I’d be happy to vote for them in the general and haven’t really made my mind up yet which one I like best. But now I know there’s one I will definitely NOT be voting for in the primaries. Hopefully we get 1-2 obvious “winners” out of the pack of declared candidates early on so that they can band together and make sure Bernie doesn’t win by virtue of party divisions.
Centrist (read corporate) Democrats say they’ll vote for any Democrat against Trump. A large percentage of progressive Democrats WON’T support a corporate candidate. Therefore the base needs to nominate a progressive candidate like Sanders, Gabbard or Warren. Failure to do so will see Trump win again.
Tulsi Gabbard is Assad apologist trash that supports conversion therapy. Fuck her and anyone who supports her.
Bernie isn’t a Dem and doesn’t care about creating a Democratic majority in the House, Senate and the state houses in order to get real change accomplished.
So if you’re part of the purity posse I guess you should vote for Elizabeth Warren because she’s the only one acceptable to the likes of @BPM.
^^
Thank you Angie. Especially the Gabbard facts, because I find her truly and deeply offensive. A monster.
You’re a liar, Angie. TG oppossed gay rights when she was young because of her conservative parents. Since then she has apoligised repeatedly and has a 100% pro-gay voting record in congress.
Calling her an Assad apoligist is another false claim from the right. She’s oppossed to an interventionist war in Syria. Those who are calling her an Assad apoligist are no better than the hawks who accussed those of oppossed to the Iraq invasion of being Saddam apoligists.
Here’s Tulsi’s voting record
http://politicsthatwork.com/voting-record/Tulsi-Gabbard-412532
Not all centrists say that. I for one am a proud corporate whore.
And you make me LOL when you include that monster Gabbard on your list of purity leftists. Say hello to Boris.
Racist, war mongering corpratism is nothing to be proud of.
One thing I have noticed about past presidencies is that once in office, the president has a tendency to age faster than normal, what would the natural age progression if not required by such official duties, the office of the presidency.
|
I think this is the implication: he started the mess, created the g.shutdown, then he did a back-flop – he flipped on the wall! Demi-Goddess doesn’t seem to discern that our president might be acting out his public duties in office based upon all the past behaviors with his father.

You know how you lie in bed at night and think to yourself? It is a self-to-self dialogue to yourself, slilently. So, how is self-too-self listening into dialogue; in other words, part listens and part talks.
I thought to myself, Ann Coulter might have been lying in bed one night, having self-to-self dialogue when she presumably, suddenly realized the leader of the strongest democracy in the world is an idiot! I am sort of searching for consensus about the acronym C.A.N. (Calamity.Annie.Nanny). I think she should spoon feed him whipped cream and fresh strawberries, but, only ’til he smiles then find out why is he going on about erratic behavior and about our nations security causing multiple legal actions to process his strange behavior.
I think Ann is trying to jolt him to process and a more subtle approach is required; seemingly, lots of money is the method for his understanding about how things work, which is in stark contrast with public official duties as the president of the United States of America. I think why the consensus is for keeping him away from other countries. I just wish C.A.N. was not such a hot-head!
But WHY? Why can’t we see people for everything they are? Stop erasing everyone.
I actually couldn’t disagree more with this post. I won’t be voting for him bc at 78, he’s missed the boat.
But I’m so sick of this divisive attitude. Get it together people.
Take a seat Bernie.
While I was for him in the primaries last time, I also had a strong “if he doesn’t want to be a full time Democrat, why are they letting him run for the Democratic nomination?”
I feel that even more strongly this year.
Ugh. I wish this dirtbag loser would go away.
For some reason when I heard the news the first thing that came to mind was….Is Bernie looking to buy a new house on the beach?
Go, Bernie!
Before he drops out he will use his candidacy to spotlight/force the others to talk about issues that affect everyone … Medicare for All, campaign finance reform, wealth inequality and our immigration/refugee insanity. Polls show he’s currently the most popular politician in the U.S. He’s blunt, unpolished, imperfect, but I’m glad to see him f- with the Democratic establishment.
