Sometimes, a woman will change her hair subtly and she’ll look like a completely different person. Sometimes a woman will make a drastic hair change and she’ll look pretty much the same. Which is happening in these photos? Rachel Brosnahan became famous as a brunette with The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. The dark hair suited her, and it made her pale skin look like porcelain and it brought out her bright, pretty eyes. I have no idea if her natural hair color is brunette, but I suspect it is, but it’s probably not as dark as she dyes it for Maisel.
So, Rachel stepped out over the weekend for the opening of the Broadway play What The Constitution Means To Me. Suddenly, she has more of a strawberry-blonde hair color. Again, I have no idea if this is her real hair color but I doubt it. On one hand, it makes her look younger and “cooler,” like she’s actually a modern woman – the dark brunette definitely made her look like an actress working on a period TV show. On the other hand, I genuinely think she looks better with darker hair.
Also: I’ve literally never noticed this before – I’m sure other people have, but this is my first time – but she really looks like Evan Rachel Wood, huh? They could play sisters! The lighter hair really brings out her ERW-esque features.

You’re right, she does look entirely different. And I may be in the minority here but I think it’s a terrible dye job. Maybe it’s the lighting but it looks cheap and orange.
No, you’re not always alone. With her dark hair she is striking, this new color looks like a
home bottle situation and isn’t flattering at all…
I wonder if the blue background is throwing it off and causing more of a contrast.
it does look like a bad guy job. I almost wonder if she’s trying to go full blonde and this is the transition dye so she doesn’t totally fry her hair going from dark brown to blonde. I did something similar once and this is about the color that my transition was.
Of all these photos I think the brunette hair looks like the bad dye job. It’s too dark and flat. Looks like a wig.
She now looks meh
She was a stunning, striking brunette
She does look like ERW…
She really does. I thought that’s who she was before I read the headline.
Me too
Yes, I’ve always thought that but you can REALLY see it here. Strangely, though, I think ERW looks better blond, but Brosnahan looks far more striking with dark hair.
I was about to say she looked like Evan Rachel Wood but you beat me to it!
I thought it was ERW when I clicked on the article.
Also: am I the only one not enjoying the Marvellous Ms. Maisel? I can’t understand what people see in it. A series about a funny woman whose stints and personality are not funny at all…?
You are not alone – I couldn’t make it through the second season, and I forced myself to watch the first just because everybody kept telling me how great it was. It was not great. I’m all for strong female characters, but not ones who try to be funny but are really just obnoxious and self centered.
She somehow looks dramatically different yet still unrecognizable.
That’s the color her hair was on house of cards. She looks so much better with the dark hair.
I think the dark hair suits her more.
She does look a lot like ERW, and another actress or someone that I can never place.
I always mistake her with ERW. Now they definetely look like sisters!
I think she looks much better blonde. The dark hair was very harsh.
I prefer the darker hair but it’s fun to mix it up. Somewhere I read that copper was going to be the “in” hair color this year and maybe that qualifies?
The suit, the hair, def an EVW look alike! Now can we get a movie where they play good/evil twins or something?
I’ve always thought she resembled Evan Rachel Wood, especially when Evan would dye her hair darker (and now vice versa).
I tend to prefer the dark brunette on Rachel, simply because my hair and complexion are similar to hers and I’ve always gotten compliments on how complementary my hair color is with my skin and eyes.
I always confuse her with Evan Rachel Wood
I like her with dark hair better, but that could be because I am currently suffering through blond highlights. I went too big this past time at the salon and now I regret it.
Not to get into my hair woes, but my hair is naturally brown. Post partum it looked TERRIBLE. It was falling out and just looked flat. I got some blond highlights to add dimension and it looked great, but then I went a second time and went even more blond. How do I get back to my natural color?
@megs, try adding some lowlights
I love Mrs. Maisel.
I love the fashions, decorations/sets, the cars, the characters, the views of NYC and Paris and the story.
My older daughter and I watch it together at times and I always say, “I wish I’d lived rich in the ’50s and Jewish on the upper West Side.”
My daughter says Mrs. M. is based on Joan River’s life.
I never cared much for her but she was a female pioneer in her field.
I don’t care for the lighter hair color. Maybe she’s doing it for a part.
The Mrs. M. hair is dyed darker.
Her brown color was pretty when she played the call girl in House of Cards.
I had no idea that was Mrs Maisel.
