I’ll keep saying this: this year’s Venice Film Festival is better than the past two years of Cannes Film Festival coverage. The festival selections are better, the attendees are more fashionable and there are more A-listers in Venice than there were in Cannes. Venice is also doing the old-school Cannes thing of inviting models and random actresses to show up as part of various sponsorships with beauty companies, fashion labels or jewelry houses. All in all, Venice has been glam as hell. So here are some fun fashion photos from the past few days. Cate Blanchett came out for the premiere of Joker, likely as part of her Armani contract (she’s the face of an Armani fragrance). She wore Armani Prive and I kind of hate this? The skirt is way too stiff.
Penélope Cruz in Ralph and Russo. Penelope will just always have that showgirl style, right? She loves “explosions of tulle.” She loves rhinestones and spangles and sparkly things. This is very on-brand for her.
Call me crazy, but I friggin’ love Sienna Miller in this Gucci muumuu. It feels very Indian-influenced and I’m into it.
When Sack Dresses Go Wrong: Meryl Streep Edition. This is Givenchy and it looks… comfortable, I guess. The fabric is actually rather pretty but the design is so bad.
Zazie Beetz in Valentino… I kind of love this? Is that weird? There’s too much fabric up top but I genuinely think this looks cool.
Bella Thorne was there with her new boyfriend Benjamin Mascolo. She wore a see-through Philosophy di Lorenzo Serafini dress. I mean… she got some headlines, which was the point.
Barbara Palvin in Armani. LMAO. Do you think Armani green-lighted the pink bow, or did she add that after the fitting? She looks like she picked that up at CVS.

I don’t mind Cate’s dress all that much, it’s the hair that’s killing me.
Other than that, it’s a WHOLE lotta awful in these photos. Yikes. I guess Bella looks *ok* but also really boring and the dress doesn’t fit quite right. Everything about her BF screams douche.
It’s just my opinion, but I think Cate looks the most elegant out of all of them. I do agree the skirt needs more movement though.
Cate looks glorious. I can’t recall her ever having a bad fashion moment.
I’m surprised Sienna isn’t being blasted for cultural appropriation TBH. I’m glad she isn’t but it seems like that’s the world we live in now.
Kitten, why is the boyfriend a douche? From the picture or do you know something about him? If so, please tell.
No tea or anything, I was just being a judgey b*tch 😉
Your comments are right on! Penelope Cruz’s dress looks like one I saw on Say Yes to the Dress a few weeks ago.
I actually love Barbara’s bow/dress. I think she looks beautiful in it. She’s always gorgeous though so it would be hard for me to say something looks bad on her.
I like Sienna’s dress too but it’s just a touch too baggy.
I saw Zazie Beets’ dress in a video on social media, and I have to say it looked spectacular in motion. She is so gorgeous I can’t even deal and I will spend my life trying to recreate her hair looks. Cate’s dress is fine too, I think the stiffness of the dress actually helps it stand out and be memorable – her hair is a miss though. Sienna Miller looks lovely and she must have the best PR team in town, because her rebranding over the last few years has been beautifully executed and I love it for her. To be honest, I don’t really get what Bella Thorne does to be famous and invited to these things (no shade intended), but her look is leaving much to be desired
I think Cate’s gown might be a repeat which upsets me because it’s Venice, you know?
I’m embarrassed to say that I had never heard of Zazie before, but she is gorgeous!! I think Barbara also looks very pretty except for tht awful bow headband… It looks like she was wearing it to wash her face and forgot to take it off.
Cate is georgous.
She always is.
I’ve never seen Bella look this good
Kate looks stunning!!!!!!! I love her dress. Best of everyone’s.
And yes, you are crazy re Sienna’s dress. It’s not very flattering.
I actually love Cate’s! I think it needs the stiffness of shape to correctly show the detailing.
The rest of them are kind of a mess though. But Zazie is really pretty, I don’t mind her look so much, but there’s a lot going on there.
