Years ago, Angelina Jolie collaborated with jewelry designer Robert Procop on a line of jewelry, the profits of which went to charity. Looking back on the charitable collab, I kind of loved it – Angelina’s jewelry-style definitely seems retro and ‘70s, like if she had her way, she would wander around in caftans and big, chunky cocktail rings and big, chunky drop earrings. Angelina doesn’t need the most precious gemstones – her collection included citrines, aquamarines, peridots and other semi-precious stones. Well… you know how Zahara Jolie-Pitt has been attending all of the Maleficent premieres? You know how Zahara, who is just 14 years old, has been decked out in couture on every red carpet? Well, it turns out that Zahara was quietly modeling HER jewelry line with Robert Procop too.
Zahara Jolie-Pitt is following in her mom’s footsteps! The daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, 14, debuted her Zahara Collection jewelry line in collaboration with jeweler Robert Procop at the Los Angeles premiere of Disney’s Maleficent: Mistress of Evil on Sept. 30. Walking the red carpet with Jolie, 44, and five of her six brothers and sisters (Pax, 15, Shiloh, 13, and 11-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox), Zahara wore three emerald-cut pieces from her self-titled line: three-tiered earrings, a bracelet and a matching ring. The teen paired her yellow jewels with a strapless black satin gown. She pulled her braided hair into a half-up, half-down style.
The Zahara Collection — available at select Saks Fifth Avenue locations and other exclusive retail partners across the U.S. and Australia starting in November — also includes white and pink quartz jewels and pink sapphire pieces, according to a press release.
“All proceeds from the Collection will benefit the Los Angeles-based House of Ruth Shelters, which provided transitional housing for battered women and children,” the press release says.
In 2012, Zahara’s famous mom designed a jewelry collection called Style of Jolie in collaboration with jeweler to the stars (and the man behind Jolie’s 16-carat engagement ring from Pitt) Robert Procop. For the line, the actress chose citrine, a yellow variety of quartz, as the featured gemstone in her line — just like Zahara!
As I’m going through the photos of all the premieres, it’s difficult to find super-clear shots of Zahara’s jewelry. It looks somewhat like the stuff Angelina designed, only Angelina absolutely prefers “big and chunky” whereas Zahara’s taste is to go smaller. Which makes sense because she’s young and when I was that age, I preferred smaller jewelry too. I think most women find their taste in jewelry changes as they get older anyway. So… I like that Zahara has got her own thing. It makes me feel like she’s the Jolie-Pitt kid interested in fashion and style and all of that.

can someone with the deets remind me of Zahara’s adoption? how old was she and what were the circumstances? I can’t remember any details.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think she was adopted when she was just a few months old from Ethiopia.

I think she was around 6 mos. when they got her. People mag got more info at the time, I think, you should check their website. I kind of remember she was born in circumstances that made her unwanted (I find distasteful to talk about those circumstances now that she’s grown), especially as her biological mother was manipulated by the daily fail, I think to go on record about Zahara. AJ got with Brad at the time and when they got her she was malnourished and had to be on treatment to eliminate rickets damage in her legs, IIRC.
She was such a wee baby, the first pics I saw of her and her new family were at an airport and when AJ was filming the Good Sheperd with de Niro. Brad was walking around with a baby bottle in the back pocket of his pants, carrying baby Zahara. it was very cute to see pics of both of them with the smiling little Zahara.
IIRC, Zahara was adopted from an Ethiopian orphanage when she was seven months old. She was sick, malnourished, dehydrated and suffering from rickets. Angie decided to take her anyway. Her maternal grandmother brought Z to the orphanage and told the staff that Z’s birth mother had died of AIDS and the family could no longer take care of her. The orphanage accepted Z and declared her available for adoption. However, a year or two after Z had been adopted by Brad and Angie, Z’s birth mother turned up very much alive and admitted that she had abandoned Z to the care of family members who later brought Z to the orphanage. By that time Z’s adoption had been finalized in court and the birth mother said she had no interest in getting Z’s back in any case.
I love where the proceeds are going to, battered women and children.
My eyebrows definitely raised at that. It’s a great cause no doubt, but I wonder if there’s a message there.
I think they have probably talked about ways to heal after living tense situations. I love how they can channel their interests and be propositive. I think every child and teen that can should be guided to do some kind of philanthropy.
I think it’s says A LOT about what went down between Brad and Angie on that plane and likely other times..that the proceeds this collection is going to transitional housing battered women & children.

Thanks for eliminating that awful comment. Some people from crazy forums still exist, apparently and cannot move forward. Open adoptions where people remain in contact, are difficult to maintain and require a delicate balance.
I particularly think that at the time both of Zahara’s parents, Brad and AJ, decided to stay away from the possibility of tabloid media exploiting her daughter’s (and even Maddox and Pax’s) origins.
Money hungry media and forum haters (ejem!) pumping crazy conspiracies probably eliminated any possibility of contact for now. Surely any adopted kid can look for their bio parents later on, if they think it us a healthy decision.

Why would they? Zahara’s not trying to become an actor, and she’s also not pretending she’s not using her mother’s influence. Showing off her charity jewelry line at her mother’s movie premiere is actually a smart tactic to bring attention to her charity. She’s not trying to bring attention to herself and out here trying to get beauty campaigns and what not.
Also out of all the nepotism kids you could have mentioned, Will and Jada’s are some of the hardest working and charitable ones out there, and they are also not pretending to be doing so well without their parent’s influence, Jaden did a few tour shows with Will, and Willow is on her mother’s tv show for goodness sake, they’re not out there pretending they gaining anything alone.
There are better examples of celeb kids you could have used for nepotism, but even so Zahara doesn’t fit in into that category, at least not yet.
I think their circumstances are different. The Smith kids had not had a lot of education and their parents seemed to want some kind of “artistic dinasty”, pushing their children to do things they did not really want ( see Willow and her singing career). The JPs are taking their own paths accordingly to their age and interests (see Maddox).
To me it sounds more like the Beckham kid getting a photography book and other stuff, via his parents connection. Not many other 14 year olds are going to get a partnership with an established jeweler and a deal with Saks.
But it’s great she’s following her own interests, and I love that the proceeds are going to such a worthy charity.
Wow. A cool, pro-social project spearheaded by the 14-year-old daughter of an actress, while all our First Lady can think to do is build a tennis court that does zero for anyone. That those two CB headlines showed up side by side made me laugh and also sort of cry.
