The New York Times published an article today which is basically like “Barack Obama did the most and yet NOT ENOUGH for Joe Biden during the primary, what will he do now?” The answer, it seems, is that Obama has chosen today to endorse his former vice president and good friend. Did Obama intend to actively overshadow the Times’ bitchy political gossip story? Perhaps. But I mostly think that Joe Biden and his campaign are ready to get off the bench and go full speed ahead. The whole idea that in one week’s time, Bernie Sanders would have suspended his campaign, endorsed Joe Biden and then Barack Obama endorses Biden too is… insane to me. But I love it!
CONFIRMED: Former President Barack Obama will endorse his former Vice President Joe Biden in a video. A source close to President Obama tells me the video will be out later today.

I will update this story when the video comes out! Update: Here’s the video!
I’m proud to endorse my friend @JoeBiden for President of the United States. Let's go: https://t.co/maHVGRozkX

As for that bitchy Times story, their sources say that Biden and his camp felt like Obama and Obama’s people could have done more during the primary, but that Obama was instrumental in getting a lot of stuff moving behind-the-scenes once Biden won South Carolina and swept so many states on Super Tuesday. Obama apparently had multiple calls with Bernie Sanders over the past few weeks and Obama was an important factor in getting Bernie to endorse Biden yesterday. The Times also claimed that Biden and Obama’s camps viewed Obama’s endorsement as a “thorny issue” as to when and how they would deploy Obama. Looks like that was a trash take though – Obama can’t be held back. Obama is IN IT. And if this election ends up as Trump vs. Obama, I AM HERE FOR IT.
Also, I’m scared of whatever deranged sh-t Trump will do in response to Obama endorsing Biden today. You know it’s going to be a total nutburger meltdown.

This might sound weird but the only good thing coming out of this virus is the obvious fact that Trump is an awful leader . He was going to win again. Now I’m not so sure.
I hope your “was” is accurate but am really losing faith in the general US population…
Yes!! The Obama has been released!! This is truly what Trump is afraid of.
At this point, Obama is a weapon the Democratic Party would do well to utilize. He did make several calls to Sanders over the last couple of days before the senator decided to drop out and support Biden. Plus, lately, he’s been more vocal on social media in his opposition to 45’s handling of critical issues. There’s no time to trade blame. Everyone just needs to work together to give Biden the push he needs to oust Trump. That’s all that matters now!
I would be fine if Obama spends all his time constantly pointing out Trumps failures without ever using his name, he is eloquent enough to really drive it home. Meanwhile, Biden focus all his attention on policy, economic recovery, Healthcare, and the environment, etc.. Team effort! Dumps head would explode with the effort it would take to try to fight them both at the same time.
Can’t wait! Also, I hope Biden’s VP pick is also a galvanizing force. The campaign will he unstoppable
Kamala or bust.
I’m not American so I don’t know how things work there – but, could Biden legally choose Obama as his running mate?
Not that he would, but he also can’t. There’s a two term limit for serving in any presidential capacity.
Eliza, that’s not accurate.
The 22nd Amendment only states that no one can be ELECTED president more than twice. So Obama could be Joe’s VP and in theory if something happened to Joe, he would be able to finish out his term. He wouldn’t be able to run for another term after that though.
I instantly tear up when I see him.
SAME
Me too!
I start to wheeze just a little bit. It’s my version of getting teary.
Oh, how I miss President Obama!
Me too!!
Same. Like pouring rain in a drought these days.
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
*and his wife
Yes, same reaction for Michelle. Sometimes accompanied by a sudden wheeze/sob.
Yeah, Trump is going to have another meltdown. Good. After the WI election backfired so badly on the GOP, I feel like the blue wave is going to be unstoppable. *knocks on wood*
Tsunami, like in ’18.
Mr. Obama you are so missed. I miss you terribly.
Full on meltdown today by Trump. Nothing set Cheeto off like the a Real President. Hope this occurs during Trump’s press conference so networks cut away.
It’s April, so no time to waste. I would’ve personally loved to see Obama campaigning against Trump earlier, but this is awesome.
The economy is going to recover. It’s already going back up. Unemployment will be terrible but won’t affect the stock markets apparently, and I am very worried our wannabe dictator will be re-elected by the same hateful minority as before.
The economy isn’t improving it’s getting worse by the day! The stock market is going up but that has nothing to do with the economy. There are 18 million people filing for unemployment businesses are shut down for who knows how long and when they start to open a lot of business will close their doors.
The stock market is up because companies got a bailout but the stock market have nothing to do with the economy.
Lets be real. This is the fight Trump wanted. He HATES Obama and his racism cannot stand that Obama was not only President, but a good one. Trump is all in but very insecure. I can’t want for Obama to be Obama and never mention Trumps name all the while belittling him and his lack of accomplishments. Shit’s gonna be real and I’m here for it.
Trump is currently mid-meltdown, raging against voting by mail, the postal service, and Andrew Cuomo, although I strongly suspect Ivanka is toggling between their accounts as she’s tweeting stuff on her own account and the stuff appearing on Daddy’s is written in long, almost coherent paragraphs.
I believe the NYT has it very wrong on this one. Other candidates who dropped out and endorsed Biden have hinted at Obama contacting them to discuss their withdrawals and endorsements. This has all been very carefully orchestrated
The anti vote by mail stuff is absurd. We already do absentee ballots. Making everything absentee should not be an issue.
And of course he’s mad at Cuomo. Cuomo knows the constitution, unlike Trump. And Trump hates that the constitution doesn’t make him king. If Trump thinks Governors are going to cede state rights, he’s in for a rude awakening.
Good! I will admit that I didn’t vote for Obama either time, but I was young and stupid. I grew to love him during his second term and miss him terribly. The goal for this year is to get the maniac out of office and Obama’s support is just what Biden needs.
He’s no drama Obama for a reason – I’m reasonably certain he had this mapped out long before he decided to endorse Biden (the endorsement is not a surprise).
This is what it looks like when you have a smart, calm, measured adult in the mix. He looked at how and when his support would be best used and proceeded from there. Party leaders would do well to consult with him all the way down the line because I’m sure he has thought about all the potential ramifications of him being more vocal from here on out.
Can’t wait for the racist tantrums to start or how he and Moscow Mitch will start trying to actively suppress voting and/or the election now that their arch enemy is back on the scene.
I totally agree. Obama had a plan and thought this through.
I just watched President Obama’s speech. I think it was one of his best! He’s right when he says it’s going to take every one of us doing whatever we can to win the election. His appeal to Sanders voters was sincere, and it should separate the sincere progressive supporters from the bots going forward. It’s on!
It was wonderful. I miss him SO much!
Only Obama can win this for us. The nation needs change as he used to say! Please help us!!!
My guess is Michelle is going to be VP otherwise I don’t see Obama endorsing Biden he took his sweet time in giving a response in the first place.
No way. Michelle has no interest in being VP.
Obama took his time endorsing Biden because he wanted Biden to win without his endorsement – and he wanted to be free to endorse whoever won if someone else won. Waiting was a political move, not an indication of his support of Joe.
Exactly. If he’d endorsed Biden and then Biden had lost the primary, his support of the eventual winner wouldn’t have had as much impact, and the nominee would have looked like Obama’s second choice. And if he’d endorsed Biden and then Biden won the primary, people would say that Obama deserved the credit for the win. It would’ve been lose/lose. Obama was smart to wait.
He did not take his sweet time. He said all along that he would not endorse until we had a nominee. Also, I think he wanted to be respectful of Bernie and give him a chance to speak first. #44 is right on time!
