What did Prince Harry & Meghan give each other for their anniversary?

archie2

From what I gather, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s new publicist likely sent out an email blast to preferred, friendly journalists with a simple confirmation that Harry & Meghan would be spending their anniversary quietly at home. That’s my assumption about the email blast, just because Harper’s Bazaar, People Magazine, etc. all had similar-sounding quotes saying basically the same thing. My point is that I doubt many outlets have any kind of inside track on what M&H are up to without a nod from the Sussexes’ new media team. So take this Us Weekly story as what it is: likely bulls–t. But it’s still enjoyable, because I’ve been wondering whether Harry and Meghan gave each other presents for their anniversary:

Lucky in love! Prince Harry and Meghan Markle celebrated their second year of marriage on Tuesday, May 19, and rang in the occasion with a couple of heartfelt gifts.

“Meghan designed Harry’s card, and handwrote a beautiful, sentimental message inside expressing her love for him,” a source exclusively tells Us Weekly. “Harry surprised Meghan with a huge, stunning bouquet of roses and a ring, which she loves.”

Two years after exchanging their vows in front of huge crowds at St George’s Chapel in England, the duo wanted to share a more intimate celebration of their love as they settle into their new Los Angeles home. Meghan, 38, and Harry, 35, moved to California in March after their temporary stay in Canada in the wake of their royal exit. Us confirmed earlier this month that the pair has been living in Tyler Perry‘s multimillion-dollar mansion with their 12-month-old son, Archie.

“The most important thing to them was that they got to enjoy each other’s company without any interruption from the outside world,” the insider adds.

[From Us Weekly]

The British outlets would have us believe that Poor Harry is sitting in LA, distraught over what he’s lost, depressed because he can’t be attached to military stuff, and homesick for bangers and mash or something. But even though this is likely fiction, I think it’s probably closer to the truth. Meghan and Harry and having what amounts to an extended second honeymoon – not having to be on parade, not having bitchy courtiers or racist reporters stepping on their necks 24-7, just getting to spend time together and time with their baby. Also, I laughed thinking about Meghan giving Harry a… CARD while he went all-out with roses and jewelry. And knowing Meghan’s writing style, that card was overwritten AF.

Let’s just say Harry takes care of Meghan’s needs.

I’m sure Harry and Meghan had a lovely day celebrating their anniversary in the Californian sunshine with their adorable baby.

I’m also sure that those at US Weekly know absolutely nothing, except to make sure to remind everyone that Tyler Perry’s mansion is a “multi-million dollar” one, in case anyone forgot.

    • kellebelle says:

Yes, isn’t that something? They always say “multi-million dollar mansion,” don’t they? It concerns exactly no one. And what does “overwritten AF” mean exactly? She does calligraphy. It’s her thing, so “overwritten AF” almost sounds like a Me**it thing. It’s unkind.

    • MsIam says:

Aren’t all of the Hollywood homes “multi-million dollar” places? I don’t know why they need to emphasize that when it’s the norm. Hell even regular folks can pay close to a million or more for a decent sized house in CA. Just more class warfare crap from one of the Trump/National Enquirer cabal.

      • KellyRyan says:

Million dollar plus homes throughout California. San Francisco, Napa Valley, Silicon Valley, northern CA. Rancho Santa Fe, Malibu, Montecito, Palos Verdes, southern CA, and more. Class warfare and a failed attempt at shaming. The average price of a home in LA county is currently close to 700,000.

So goldigger Meg only made Harry a card, while he gave roses and a ring? The lolz at this Meg bashing fanfic.

    • bettyrose says:

But she probably mentioned nostalgic throwbacks to blustery days and steaming mugs of tea.

My anniversary is tomorrow. No cards or gifts. We are getting take out from our son’s favorite restaurant because we always get that after he has a therapy appointment so we’ve continued to do that while we are stuck at home to try and keep some sort of semblance in his life. Totally not a big deal. The only thing M&H need is each other and Archie.

  5. S808 says:

I think if they released info on gifts that were actually exchanged more outlets would’ve picked it up like they did with the anniversary plans. I don’t buy this.

    • crbnftprnt says:

that’s so basic: a card, jewelry and flowers, that’s the best they can do

  6. Becks1 says:

Of course Meghan gave him a gorgeous handwritten card. that’s kind of her “thing.”
I would love to be a writer sometimes for Us Weekly or the like. You can just take well known tidbits about people and spin them into exclusives.

    Who cares?

It’s my 9th wedding anniversary today and we are working from home all day and then making a nice dinner, drinking champagne, and going for a lovely evening walk – we fancy 😉

Am I the only one who kind of hopes Harry got hair transplants for his anniversary (well whenever we get out of lockdown)? He’s so cute as a ginger, and I can only imagine how much it would rankle William to see Harry hold onto his head of hair. Plus if there was some sort of stupid royal protocol forbidding it, it’s not like Harry is bound to that anymore.

    • crbnftprnt says:

there’s no hair, clothes, nail polish or hand holding protocol. Something’s going on top of WIllileaks head. I’d be fine w/Harry getting a transplant or shaving it off

    • Guest with Cat says:

Nah Harry inherited Phillip’s good looks without the racist douchebaggery, so he would still look relatively hot bald as he does with hair. Phillip looks scary now but he’s ancient. He was good looking through middle age even with sparse hair, if you could make yourself look past the personality.

William isn’t fug because he’s bald. Plenty of bald men are sexy. He is fug because his personality comes across on his face and he also had the misfortune to inherit a very exaggerated version of a smile that has been at times derided for looking equine. Still, if he were a sweet guy with a heart of gold, I’m sure we would all still be fond of him and think Kate a very lucky woman. We would focus on the hypothetical twinkle in his sparkling blue eyes or some such virtue we could dredge up to extoll as a reward for gifting society with his generosity and hard work.

But he’s not, so it is what it is.

Kaiser, this made me laugh so hard because it so rings true, and seeing how much Harry loves her I imagine that he would treasure it more than any store-bought gift. I have nothing more to add except that I really appreciate your fair and balanced approach to writing about Meghan. You neither portray her as someone who can do no wrong nor someone who is all wrong. That shouldn’t be a big deal, and yet it is given the world we live in.

    • David says:

That is funny and so true. The long winded prose of their love summed up in a card. Why not? That means so much. They have the rest of their lives to give luxurious trinkets.
Stay in and be happy and smothered in love!

  11. L4frimaire says:

Roses and cards? Like that is so basic AF. If he gave her flowers it would probably be peonies. This was written by someone coming up on a deadline and needing to put something out. Cocktails, skinny dipping, and cupcakes would be my ideal anniversary day in lockdown if I had that house. Have the nanny watch the baby.

  12. Exhausted says:

Like Us Weekly if you’re going to write fan fiction at least do your research. Meghan likes peonies not roses. Lol

  13. Abena Asantewaa says:

Roses? That is a dead giveaway. Meghan loves peonies. This is definitely a made up story. Why would Harry give her another ring? I am sure Tyler Perry is bored stiff with the frequent mention of his million dollar mansion. How about the palaces and mansions the royals live in. By the way, what is AF?

    • Truthiness says:

AF = As F**k. Roses symbolize love, it’s possible. I like orchids best and by a lot but have only received roses in my life

  14. Lillian says:

Handwritten sentiments of love and appreciation are beautiful and worthwhile and timeless, according to me.

  15. J ferber says:

Every photo I see of them, I think, they are ecstatically in love and true soul mates. That and their darling son are so palpably true and good. They are the lucky ones.

  16. Dinah says:

This Us Weekly piece is hilarious. What an insult to their readership.
The made-up, apprentice-like gossip/royal reporting pieces of many of the online megs and outlets are often too laughable. I wonder whether or not these people are embarrassed when they look back and read their pieces. What a lack of career perspective or self worth you must have to want to end up writing these nonsense for a living. Or having to realise that, with skills like this (or the lack of excellent writing skills), your ‘work’ will never be recognized for something near as prestigious as the Pulitzer Prize.
