I guess we’re about to find out, when the “socially distanced” Venice Film Festival begins today.
Cate Blanchett is the president of the Venice jury, and European stars have begun arriving in Venice, with their masks mostly on. Tilda Swinton is there too, Wakanda Forever-ing for her friend Chadwick Boseman. But mostly I wanted to talk about Cate’s arrival outfit and HER PURSE. That tote, OH MY GOD. My birthday is coming up, you guys. Can you bitches pool your resources and buy me that tote? According to the Daily Mail, the bag is an older design by Valentino and it’s not available for sale right now! Damn it.
Armani is one of the big sponsors for this film festival, so I wonder if both Tilda and Cate will wear some lovely new Armani creations. Apparently, Cate has told people that she’s going to re-wear some old looks for this brave new pandemic world, so maybe we’ll just be getting repeats from her during the entire festival. Hm.

OK don’t hate me, but i found that bag ugly. I don’t see the appeal, it looks cheap to me, like something i could find at the flea market ( and i love flea market, but not that bag).
To me it looks like one of my daughter’s plastic bag creations, where she twists and cuts and nips into trash bags and turns them into something interesting. I would not have guessed that this is an expensive designer bag.

Yep, it would be interesting i guess if it wasn’t so expensive ( and i don’t even know how much it costs , and i don’t want to know). If it would be from a young creator who recycle plastic or wathever into affordable bags or objects, i would still found it fugly, but cool.

It’s the quay for the vaporetti and taxiboats. It’s right by Venice airport, like a taxi rank outside normal airports. Arriving in Venice is just the most wonderful thing in the world; you’re straight onto a boat from the airport and the you travel across the lagoon to la Serenissima. God I miss travelling!

I live in Europe and erm it wasn’t that cut and dry. European countries have been doing it better than America, but i wouldn’t call it super contained. not if some countries were able to stay mostly open and have deaths under the 10.
They reported that Venice will follow guidelines for the virus. There will be no public allowed. As to the rest of the rest of the festival activities, I am unsure as to how they will conduct the ceremony, but guidelines for protection will be a top priority.

I love the bag. But I find myself more and more being unable to purchase leather goods. I just bought myself a Bao Bao Issey Miyake (and yes I had to google to know how to spell the name), and I will likely be sticking with that designer on handbags going forward. Well, also Stella McCartney has some really nice vegan bags. But I don’t have one of hers yet.

Admittedly I’m not much in to high end brands, but for my vegan bags I love Vera Bradley and find them to be very well made.

I have a black Valentino tote about that size that I adore. I found it on EBay for about 100.00. It’s authentic and in perfect condition, so they can be found!

I’m so interested to see how this goes. For the sake of those there and the people they interact with, I hope it’s truly socially distant and safe. I think these kinds of things CAN happen, just with extraordinary precaution, and in a place where the curve has been flattened.
I’m interested too. I’m a little bit worried to be honest because from what i’ve seen on my insta stories some people that have no business being there (models,fashion journalists,actors not in films shown at the festival…) are on their way to Venice right now. I was surprised because I was expecting to see only directors,actors and jury members. I hope everyone will follow the rules and that everything will be ok.
Every since this covid thing, conspicuous consumption is just so unappealing to me. I’m all about high quality items, but now, it’s not about the designer, it’s about the intrinsic quality and beauty of an item, not the logo.
I have excellent taste hahah; I searched for that collection, and apparently it takes more than 10 hours just to mould and assemble the “petals” by hand on the bag. It’s supposed to represent a rose, but the Tote Bag just looks cheap to me, sorry. The smaller shouder bags version is much better in my opinion (maybe because it is less messy and looks more like a rose).
