Rep. Sherrill believes Republicans gave reconnaissance tours to terrorists

Soon after the Capitol siege on the 6th, many Congressmen and Congresswomen began comparing stories, and telling their versions of what happened during the attack by MAGA terrorists. If anything, people in and around Congress are angrier now that they understand the extent of what happened on that day, and what happened before that day. There’s also a lot of anecdotal evidence piling up that there were many terrorists who had a plan to take hostages, to barricade themselves in the Capitol, and to murder prominent members of Congress and VP Mike Pence. There’s evidence of communication between people in the White House and the MAGA terrorists ON THE DAY. There’s evidence of coordination between Republican House members and the terrorists before the attack.

Rep. Ayanna Pressley’s chief of staff revealed to the Boston Globe that when staffers barricaded themselves in the office, they began looking for the panic buttons installed years ago, only to find the panic button units ripped out. How would that even happen? It shows a really shocking level of planning ahead of the assault. Which leads me to this story:

After seeing one of their colleagues killed last Wednesday, Capitol Police officers are angry that Republican members of Congress refuse to submit to the security changes put in place since then, and say they wouldn’t even be surprised if some lawmakers helped organize the attack.

Officers told BuzzFeed News that members of Congress often see security as optional. Even after last week’s deadly attack, some Republican members refused to go through metal detectors, pushing their way past Capitol Police officers.

“Officers are fuming and there are mumbles of several walking off the job,” one officer with more than 10 years on the force told BuzzFeed News — just as Republicans took to the floor last night to rail against even basic security measures. At one point today, officers set up tables around the metal detectors in an effort to block Republicans from just walking by them.

One of the officers said it’s not unusual for members of Congress to bring dozens of people at once and insist that visitors be waved past security. Officers’ concerns were echoed by some Democrats who have been speaking out about the state of security at the Capitol, and the potential involvement of members in the planning of the insurrection.

Rep. Mikie Sherrill has alleged that some of her Republican colleagues led “reconnaissance” tours of the building ahead of the attack, though did not provide evidence to back up that claim. Rep. Val Demings, former chief of the Orlando Police Department, told CNN, “If any members of Congress participated, helped to organize, orchestrate … they need to be held accountable.”

Two of the officers who spoke to BuzzFeed News said it wouldn’t surprise them if lawmakers had been involved. “There are definitely some members who need to be held to account once an investigation shows the totality of circumstances,” one said, in a sign of how betrayed some officers feel in the aftermath of the assault on the Capitol.

“Let’s be very clear, we are here for Congress,” a veteran officer said. “We are the buffer, so that Congress doesn’t have to deal with the mess that they create in their respective districts, so they don’t have to deal with the public. That’s primarily what our mission is — police work is kind of a second thought.”

[From Buzzfeed]

Rep. Sherrill also spoke to Rachel Maddow last night and she described the squirrelly behavior of several of her Republican colleagues, who must have been showing the MAGA terrorists where certain offices are in the Capitol complex. Which would explain how quickly the terrorists found, say, Nancy Pelosi’s private offices. And the Capitol Police are right to disgruntled and angry. Ugh. This is all so infuriating and chilling.

There is photographic proof Lauren Boebert did on her Instagram. These folks are also flashing a white supremacists hand sign.

    • Nana says:

And she was live tweeting Pelosi’s whereabouts on the day, apparently. How is she not an accomplice in the insurrection? Wish i could make a ‘the call is coming from inside the house!’ meme…

Also – there must be literally thousands of hours of video in the days leading up to the insurrection and during the breach. That’s alot of evidence about who showed who around, and who helped who etc.

    • Lucy2 says:

I’ve heard that particular photo going around is not from the day before, but still pretty incriminating. She’s definitely one of the people I believe will be named. And hopefully soon, and she seems intent on bringing a weapon into Congress.

      • emu says:

yeah the photo is from the CO state capitol I believe. But doesn’t mean she didn’t actually do it without posting it. Her actions definitely warrant investigation. Also if the chamber changes the rules to not allow guns in there, you gotta follow that rule

    • wendy says:

Palin 2.0 is my representative sadly – when she first showed up on the scene I really thought the Glock Barbie schtick was for the money and prestige of being the big fish in a little pond.

It is my hope she is arrested and removed from office because there is nothing but support in her home town.

      • Bre says:

On a side note, she is a terrible public speaker!

      • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

My brother in law’s friend lives in CO. This is what he said about her restaurant:
“Her restaurant with armed servers, has had food borne issues, from what I hear. And improper Mask discipline…”

        Anyone surprised?

      • Drea says:

I call her Sarah Palin 2: Electric Boogaloo.

She’s not my rep but she’s from my state. She is a terror of a person, and wildly uneducated to boot.

      • Holly hobby says:

Palin 2.0 never finished high school. She ran off with her now pedo hubby before she can finish. Who was her challenger? Why are people electing garbage to congress?

  2. Elizabeth says:

“We are the buffer, so that Congress doesn’t have to deal with the mess that they create in their respective districts, so they don’t have to deal with the public.”

This really struck me. What is the main job of an elected official in a democracy but to “deal with the public” and work for us? Geez.

    • aang says:

That stood out to me too.

    • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

Aparently, the main job for the majority of them seems to be to grift for personal wealth and build a “war chest” to run again for MORE grift.

I can say though, I’ve been to local Dem events where Ted Lieu, Adam Schiff, and a few others have come to talk, to hear concerns… and I was impressed at how intently they really *listened* to us, and had *real* replies, not just some political mumbo jumbo excuses.

  3. TheOriginalMia says:

I hope they all are brought up on charges. They endangered the lives of their colleagues and cost lives. The infuriating part is the total lack of guilt or concern that their actions were dangerous. Nope! They are still smug little bastards running around tapping about their freedoms.

    • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

One story that stands out to me, and really breaks your heart: Nancy Pelosi asked one of her young staffers HOW she knew to get everyone in that room, turn out the lights, and hide everyone quietly under the table, and STAY there for almost THREE HOURS. And the aide replied she had been taught that in school, for active shooter drills. Sigh….THIS is part of the norm for our kids.

These were becoming a routine my last 10 yrs or so of teaching. First, it started with just keeping the doors locked ALL the time. NO exceptions. Then, that led to “practicing” hearing a bell or an announcement over the PA… at that point, one pre-chosen kid would hit the lights, one kid for each of the window blinds, and they’d all dive under the tables, and not let out a peep till we got the “all clear”. I actually had to give those “jobs” to my most responsible students each year. I taught 3rd gr., so we’re talking 7 1/2 , 8 yr olds in August, having to learn how to do this. Heartbreaking.

      • TeeBee says:

Growing up in Canada, and nostalgically being exposed to the 1950s nuclear war public service films about hiding under the desk because of the “bomb”, I never thought I would live in a day and age when children would once again have to become prepared for some threat coming in to their schools.

And that the current US culture and climate thinks this is a reasonable answer to uncontrolled gun violence. Simply expect it might happen, and hope for the best…

And anyone who wants or fights for an alternative (*gun control, background checks, keeping guns from crazy people) is considered unAmerican, a traitor. We are truly living in the worst timeline.

      • Jay says:

That story really hits home, Jan – that someone so young would have to carry that experience. I’ll bet that they, and many American teens, could teach Republican politicians who are whining about metal detectors a thing or two.

      • SKF says:

This is unimaginable in Australia. I don’t understand how so many Americans are okay with their children growing up like this… I know the people aren’t okay with it; but obviously plenty are!!

  4. SarahCS says:

Just keep digging at this mess, the evidence is out there, it all needs to be collated and reviewed and then the consequences of these people’s actions need to happen. Publicly.

    • Godwina says:

I’m thankful a new government is coming in that might actually be able to hold some people accountable.

  5. Juls says:

I have no words. Surely there is security footage of which members of congress brought people in and their movements. Lock them up in Gitmo for life.

    • Lightpurple says:

Not only will there be footage of where they went but tours by members of Congress always required a log in of verified names and contact information and, in this time of Covid restrictions, now require approval by party leadership, which means either Kevin McCarthy or Steve Scalise approved each tour and they have all the contact information of tour members. It seems at least 5 House members gave tours on January 5, including Jim Jordan and Lauren Boebert.

      • Lucy2 says:

Much like the idiots who went in with identification, filming themselves and posting it online, it seems like it will be pretty easy for the FBI to obtain this evidence.

I can’t tell you how much I would love to see Jim Jordan arrested. That monster help cover up sexual assaults at his university, and then somehow fails upward into Congress. Enough.

      • KhaoManee says:

Omg, please let Jim Jordan go down in all of this! I despise that troll.

      • Juls says:

I’ll have to break out the champagne if Jim Jordan gets arrested. Sherrill stated in that video that newly sworn in members of congress were told about the rules regarding no visitors or tours. I think she is calling out Boebert here without naming her because she can’t while the investigation is ongoing.

      • Mumzy says:

I have read about the visitor requirements, and was subject to them myself pre-Covid. After all we’ve learned post 1/6, it’s clear that the rules regarding Capitol security are only followed, and enforced, by some. I hope there are untouched videos in a safe place because that (and maybe cell-phone tracking data, which is possibly deniable), is the only hope in learning the truth.

      • Holly hobby says:

Someone posted an interview with a congressman on Twitter. Don’t recall the name. Maybe by clyburn. He dropped a big hint of who was giving tours. He specifically said she set off the magtometer and refused to have her bag searched. Yep. It was palin 2.0.

I hope she and that other idiot, Marge Green get kicked out of Congress.

  6. Lucy2 says:

I saw Rep. Sherrill talking about this last night. She is a military veteran, and explained that her training from her years of service told her to look for things that were off, out of place, and felt like a security issue. Not to mention, tours of the Capitol have been closed all year because of Covid, so it was very unusual to see a group going through.
Another, Rep. Crow, witnessed the same thing. He too is a military veteran.
Neither will publicly say who it was, not yet anyway, but I’m sure the FBI was notified immediately. They said at the press conference the other day that people are going to be shocked when they hear the details, so I think we’re definitely going to see some members of Congress arrested, and the cases are being built.

    • Grace says:

She’s awesome! Saw her on Rachel Maddow too. I hope she continues to be a voice in our government!

    • Lizzie says:

I saw her too. My money is on the FBI already investigating security video to identify who took the terrorists on a tour of the Capitol. Also believe they will stay quiet about until trump no longer has pardon power.

      • Bre says:

This! I think we haven’t gotten the briefing Like we have for other attacks because career FBI and others don’t want Trump to try to mess with the case.

      • Lightpurple says:

They just need to check Kevin McCarthy’s log book. All tours through congressional offices during Covid19 lockdown must be approved by the party leader and include the names of the congressional member and staff who lead the tours and the verified names and addresses of those on the tour. The videos will show where they went but McCarthy’s log will tell who they were and who let them in.

    • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

While I realized we’re not dealing with brain trusts, with Scalise and McCarthy, but are they REALLY THAT STUPID to have logged in the VERY PEOPLE who they were counting on to mount their Insurrection?? I mean, wouldn’t they have logged false names, addresses, etc, just to “fill the spaces”??? Could they REALLY be THAT stupid???

      • Seraphina says:

I am wondering the same. Could those congressmen be that stupid to assist in all of this.

      • Dee says:

Or, like everyone filming and wearing their IDs as part of the terrorism, did they think the coup would be successful and leaving a trail of signatures and sign-ins would cement their part of its history?

    • Amy Too says:

I read that they actually alerted capitol security on 1/5 that all these tours were suspicious and worrying. So this is obviously not something that they just “made up” afterwards or decided to make a big deal out of afterwards, like some non-Celebitchies are claiming elsewhere on the internet. They knew this was suspicious and they reported it the day it was happening, before the attack on the Capitol.

I REALLY REALLY hope that people are removed for this sort of thing. We cannot have Representatives and Senators who are literally working with domestic terrorists from inside. There HAS to be consequences. Maybe it will happen in a round-about way where if enough large donors stop giving them money they won’t be able to afford to run for Congress anymore and they’ll be voted out that way, but I want them to be fired, impeached, removed, whatever the process is.

Another thing I read that bugged me so much was Republican Reps saying they were afraid for their lives and the lives of their families if they voted to impeach, so they just didn’t. They are (literally) deathly afraid of their own supporters (that they created and riled up!) and the violence they might inflict on anyone who doesn’t support Trump, to the point where they will abandon any sense of duty, morals, or convictions, AND YET they are still siccing those sams violent supporters on the 80 year old Speaker of the House. These straight, white, strong and tall, middle aged, Christian, conservative Republican men from southern and rural districts are sending sexist, racist, xenophobic, bigoted, armed insurrectionists after black, brown, female, Muslim, non-Christian, openly gay, young, elderly, physically tiny, progressive Democrats from those hated “urban” and northern districts, when they KNOW that the mob will be extra violent with those people particularly because of those identifying characteristics. They are so scared of this mob of their supporters that they will vote against their own conscience and against the constitution and against democracy, and yet the tiny, black and brown, Muslim, and/or women of the Democratic Party have the strength and the courage to stand up to the mob and be the face of doing the right thing, knowing that their lives are in 100x more danger than their cowardly Republican colleagues. If this violent mob of your own supporters is so dangerous that you are afraid they will kill you, why the F are you riling them up and directing their ire to an 80 year old Grandma who is so much less able to physically protect herself?

      • goofpuff says:

Because those morally corrupt men and women are cowards and always have been. The one they know how to do is to rile up crazy people do stupid things. If they get someone else to do their dirty work they can claim their innocence. “Oh I didn’t MEAN for that to happen even though I clearly tried to make it happen”

      • SomeChick says:

They are not voting against their own conscience. They don’t seem to have much of a conscience. They are voting the way they WANT to vote. “Fearing for their lives” is just a smokescreen. There is only one group making violent threats and behaving violently, and we all know who that is.

  7. Nikki* says:

I already thought that Republicans who refused to put on a mask after Democrats locked in with them PLEADED for them to should be charged with reckless behavior. To hear they are pushing past metal detectors is beyond belief to me. They are not above the law, and should be reined in ASAP. To learn this newest angle is staggeringly frightening to me. They need to be investigated and prosecuted.

    • Lizzie says:

Agree, they should at least be censured and fined.

    • TheOriginalMia says:

Speaker Pelosi has implemented fines for masks and the metal detectors. If Republicans continue to refuse both, there are hefty fines that come out of their paychecks and not their campaign funds. I’m sure we’ll see a lot of grumbling, but when the consequence is your paycheck, you act a bit differently.

      • Amy says:

I’m not familiar with any consequences for not wearing a mask prior to this, so forgive me if I’m misinformed. But I honestly can’t believe it took this long for fines!! The fact that my bakery cafe has had stricter mask rules than theirs up until now is crazy to me. My 16-year-old employees are better behaved than this lot.

      • Mumzy says:

A press photo from yesterday at the Capitol showed a numbskull congressional rep with his mask below his chin, looming over sitting National Guard troops while handing out pizza (perhaps his Covid topping). I yelled at my computer when I saw that.

But then again, side rant warning, I was also shocked when I went to my local T.J. Maxx and saw maskless people walking into the store, past the staff manning the doors. The staff were wiping down cart handles and had a stack of masks there to offer those who came without one, but they weren’t all offered, and if they said no, nothing else was said, leaving the maskless fools to shop around at leisure. There were a *lot* of maskless shoppers. I talked to the acting manager and to the senior member at the door, telling them that mask wearing was a state mandate. They said there’s nothing they can do. I left, and then sent a message to TJ Maxx corporate, who responded that they have strict rules (didn’t say what) and that the stores were responsible for enforcement, based upon local regulations.

Mr. Mumz is a Covid doctor in our town and they are overrun with sick people— They have had a 625% yes…625%…. increase in hospitalized Covid patients since Thanksgiving. He just had to start another unit at a nearby hospital to handle overflow. There MUST be accountability for ALL — including our law makers. Appealing to good sense and responsibility clearly doesn’t do it, so punitive measures should be next. It’s the equivalent of drinking then driving — you may not be over the limit, but you very well may be. And you might not hurt anyone, or you just might kill others. We can be fined for driving without a seat belt or while holding a cell phone, for walking down the street with alcohol not covered by a bag, for disturbing the peace with loud music, for not having a license tag on our dogs.

I hope everyone involved in any way in this attack on our country is caught and punished to the greatest extent allowed by law. If only we had a remote island penal colony for them where they can grow their own damn organic food (or be the organic food), and be as maskless and reckless as they want…while trying to build shelters and find potable water.

      • Lady D says:

        Guantanamo not available for rent?

  8. Seraphina says:

At this point, nothing is surprising me. Clyburn’s interview on Friday or Saturday hinted that this was an inside job. At first I thought he meant capitol police. And maybe he did too. Because, really, who would endanger other people – their own colleagues- willfully and aid a mob for insurrection. We have yet to understand the depth of how bad the situation really was. It’s all going to come trickling out on Biden’s watch. I do not envy him at all. They have quite a mountain to climb.

    • Becks1 says:

I think at first there was such outrage at the Capitol police – and the videos of them taking selfies, letting the barricades down – that many of us didnt really think beyond that. But as time goes by and we see clearly that many of the Capitol officers WERE trying to protect the building (and were being beaten for it), or were trying to lead the terrorists away from the congress – its clear that even to the extent some officers were in on it – it goes way beyond that.

      • Lucy2 says:

I agree. The early footage we saw, there were definitely officers whose actions are questionable, at best.
Then more video came out. That solitary officer, a Black officer in fact, chased up the stairs by this mob of white supremacists, whose quick thinking is now being credited for saving the Senate. The officer being crushed in the tunnel and screaming for help, and horrific acts of violence that happened all over.
I can’t imagine the trauma of surviving that, and then finding out that a handful of your fellow officers were in league with the terrorists.

      • Nina Simone says:

Exactly. And let’s not forget that there are still some Capitol police officers in the hospital. I heard one may lose his/her eye. There’s also that horrific video of one being beaten on the stairs. I cried. The whole thing must be so demoralizing for the ones that were just doing their job.

      • LightPurple says:

@Lucy2, that was Officer Eugene Goodman, whose quick thinking and brave action allowed Senators to escape that chamber before it was overrun by terrorists.

Also a hero is the unnamed officer who shot Ashli Babbitt and prevented the terrorists from breaching the House chamber and the officers who barricaded the House gallery and defended the Representatives inside. The House was never breached. In some videos, Representative Jim McGovern can be seen running from the Chamber to a flight of stairs just seconds before Babbitt hurled herself through the window. McGovern credits that officer with saving his life.

    • Seraphina says:

Let’s not forget, there is another piece to this puzzle: the officer who committed suicide. Did he know something, was he involved somehow or is this a senseless loss from seeing what happened or an issue from long before this?????

      • Ann says:

When I heard he had killed himself, I thought the same thing. It would be demoralizing and depressing to live through this, sure, but the timing together with knowing that a few of them seem to have been complicit makes me wonder.

      • Esmom says:

Yes, not many details about that. It makes complete sense that they are holding details back from the public, and Trump, to keep him from interfering.

      • LightPurple says:

Law enforcement officers do have a high rate of suicide, particularly correction officers who are more accustomed to dealing with constant attacks on a daily basis. After traumatic, terrifying events like this, there tends to be an increase in self-harm. I’m inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt until more is known.

      • Holly hobby says:

That one is the son of someone who works with Manafort. There are rumors manafort was involved with this coup. It would not surprise me at all if this person killed himself over this…not out of depression either

  9. Becks1 says:

Oh no! A metal detector! Not that! Anything but that!….as the rest of Americans have lived with metal detectors for everything from baseball games to high schools for the past decade (or longer.)

I absolutely think there was inside help – and the more that is coming out about this, the more it seems there were two groups – one “just” the rioters, maybe they had a loose plan of “storming the capitol” but that was about it. And the other group definitely had a more sinister agenda – to find the leaders, to assassinate them or hold them as hostages, etc. and I think in the first few days people were distracted by the former group, while the FBI is really investigating the latter group.

Anyway its clear, like I said above, that there was inside help, and I think it’s all going to come out and it will be shocking but also not surprising at this point, if that makes sense.

    • Seraphina says:

Becks, I wholeheartedly agree. I think their agenda was to mix in experts with novices, like the dumbasses who posted pics so that there was mass confusion. In this mix we have military personnel – who know damn well this is going against the government. You have one group posing for selfies, putting their feet on their desk and waving while stealing the lectern while others are in tactical gear and faces covered holding plastic handcuffs.
I hope we are wrong, but this was very carefully orchestrated.

      • chloe says:

Seraphina, I’ve been saying this the whole time, Trump rallied up a bunch of good ole boys and managed to brainwash them into thinking it was okay to storm the Capital and then mix in some professional goons (is it a coincidence that he just pardoned those Blackwater murderer’s a few weeks ago), I also feel this was kind of a recon mission for these people for future attacks. I’m hoping whoever hacked Parlor and downloaded all the files will make them public, I’m guessing there are some famous faces that were calling for violence and a takeover.

      • TheOriginalMia says:

@chloe, Parler was so shoddily ran that the FBI has all of it by now. The woman who hacked the site was able to download 99% of its database. FBI probably has a team of agents scouring the info.

      • lucy2 says:

I think so too. A planned, coordinated effort, using a mob of his rally idiots as cover.

      • Seraphina says:

Yes, as lucy2 stated. Because if goes wrong, we can say it was the idiots who got out of control. I still think Trump calling it a calamity is a sign, like some hidden meaning or maybe I have been watching and reading too much of this stuff.

      • Esmom says:

I agree. And I think this was also reflected in the violence over the summer. Lots of these guys went to BLM rallies to incite riots and looting and blame it on the protesters.

  10. Where'sMyTiara says:

The whole thing with the metal detectors makes me livid.

For any of us who have ever been to a convention, like ComicCon or PAX, you know there’s security to get through. And if any of us tried to skirt those checkpoints because we’re late to a panel? WE WOULD BE TACKLED WITH A QUICKNESS.

And that’s what the Capitol Police need to do. Stop bowing the knee to Members of Congress, stop treating them like they’re g-d royalty, and tackle those fools when they break the rules! Boebert’s at most, what, a 100lb b*tchnugget? Even Nancy Pelosi after a calcium supplement could take her down.

    • KhaoManee says:

Lol at Nancy after a calcium supplement!
I saw that Pelosi will find them 5k for first refusal to go through metal detectors, 10k for second offence. Why in the world would they not be refused entry instead? I would not feel safe going to work with these possibly armed Qanon freaks.

      • Becks1 says:

And the best part is that shes not “fining” them – I mean she is, but its coming directly from their pay. She’s not waiting around for them to pay up.

      • Golly Gee says:

And once they start being forced to go through the metal detectors, their offices need to be swept for weapons as well.

      • Busy Bee says:

They are allowed to keep weapons in their office. God knows why but that is legal.

      • Golly Gee says:

If they are allowed to keep weapons in their office, what is the point of making them submit to metal detectors when coming in? Can anyone answer this?

      • LightPurple says:

@GollyGee, very few of them have offices in the Capitol Building itself. They all have offices in the congressional and Senate office buildings that are connected to the Capitol by tunnels. There are metal detectors at the entrances to those buildings too but members of Congress are allowed to bypass them. Offices in the actual Capitol itself are limited to party leadership like Pelosi, Hoyer, Clyburn, and Clark (my rep) and committee chairs. After the attack, Pelosi had new metal detectors installed outside the Chamber and required that everyone entering, including Representatives, must go through them. They aren’t supposed to have phones in the chamber either but Boebert and Gaetz violated that rule the day of the attack.

      • Golly Gee says:

Thanks for the explanation LP. The overblown sense of entitlement is sadly not surprising. This could become a pro-gun ad campaign for the NRA. All elected officials should be armed to defend themselves against an army of traitors. There have already been a couple of members who said they were armed while under siege, and my first thought was — the NRA will love that talking point.

      • Where'sMyTiara says:

Another worry: command in the National Guard working the Capitol right now.

Fred Wellerman, a member of the Lincoln Project who is also a Veteran, West Point & Harvard grad, raised the issue of Pete Hegseth of Fox News, who is also Maj. Pete Hegseth of the National Guard. Hegseth has previously served in a protective capacity at the Capitol.

At issue: Maj. Hegseth, in his Fox News program that he hosts, has been DEFENDING the actions of the Seditionists who besieged the Capitol on January 6th.

Wellerman has a son-in-law whose unit has been ordered to the Capitol. His concern is for the safety of the SIL and anyone who serves under Maj. Hegseth, or others of similar mindset. On Twitter, Wellerman asks the question plain: “Is MAJOR Hegseth siding with the violent mob or my kid? We can’t say the military is taking on this issue while one of the most prominent National Guard officers in the country is openly on TV questioning the election results and excusing the seditionists.”

I was so upset about this I sent a missive to my Members of Congress about it today.

    • Seraphina says:

Then they should not be allowed to enter. Plain and simple. I don’t understand why this is causing such a problem. It’s for everyone’s safety but obviously they don’t care about that. These are the same people who refuse to wear a mask.

      • lucy2 says:

It’s all political grandstanding to rile up their supporters.

      • Seraphina says:

Yes lucy2, you are correct. Like Lauren Boebert. I watched one of her commercials and thought, she’s just as crazy as they are.

    • MaryContrary says:

You can’t even enter a museum in DC without going through a metal detector-so this faux outrage in infuriating.

  11. Snuffles says:

Not sure if this is confirmed but this tweet lists who they think did it

    https://twitter.com/franksowa1/status/1349574338060685312?s=21

And it’s exactly who you think it would be.

    • KhaoManee says:

Thanks for that snuffles! Jim Jordan and Matt Gaetz! yessssss!

    • Becks1 says:

      Well, no surprises there.

    • lucy2 says:

That is EXACTLY who I expected it to be.

    • ClaireB says:

Please, whoever is in charge of this, let Matt Gaetz go down, and not on his pool boy, either.

      Signed,
      an exhausted Floridian

      • whatWHAT? says:

        oh, SNAP.

I find it interesting that Gaetz and Gym Jordan are such buds. one has a “son” who a lot of folks think actually plays another role in his life, and the other aided and abetted sexual abuse of minors.

birds of a feather, perhaps. ALLEGEDLY.

  12. Tiffany says:

Expulsion is not just for Black and Brown children in schools, you know.

  13. Other Renee says:

I, too, don’t understand why these jackasses are allowed to push past security. What’s to prevent one of them (Boebert, for example) from taking out Pelosi? To the lunatic MAGA crowd, she’d be a martyr and heroine if she pulled off such a crime.

When I read this, I immediately thought of Yitzchak Rabin, then Prime Minister of Israel, who was assassinated by a Jew, one of his own people, someone who looked at Rabin as the enemy. He was willing to go to jail over it. I can totally see one of these MAGA loonies doing the same thing. It’s chilling.

  14. anniefannie says:

Apparently there’s a tower in the Capitol that tracks people’s cell the moment they enter the premises. Investigators know the names & numbers of all that enter and the exact time they were there. Tracking these treasonous asshats is going to be a lot easier then they think.

  15. KhaoManee says:

So people keep saying Lauren Boebert looks like Sarah Palin but I just figured out who she looks like to me: Jodi Arias. Creepy AF.

  16. MissMarierose says:

Little children have to go through metal detectors every day to get into their school because these a**holes won’t properly regulate guns, but they’ll blow past metal detectors in OUR capitol because they think it belongs to THEM and think they’re above the law.

    I’m disgusted.

  17. Mary says:

GOP Rep Madison Cawthorn needs to go. He’s a 25-YO Nazi Fanboy. Look him up… very problematic young man.

    • Seraphina says:

WOW, yes he has to go. The US Naval Academy, sources say, rejected his application. They saw the red flags.

  18. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

We have a new Republican party. And they are out for unconstitutional blood.

  19. JanetDR says:

This is so appalling. I hope everyone who had anything to do with it has a long time to suffer while in jail.

  20. Jaded says:

Another mystery – who ripped out the panic buttons under numerous desks in Capitol offices?

“Every panic button in my [Ayanna Pressley’s] office had been torn out — the whole unit,” she said, though they could come up with no rationale as to why. She had used them before and hadn’t switched offices since then.

  21. Digital Unicorn says:

Apparently the looting of the White House has begun – check out this hashtag #LetTheLootingBegin. Dump staff have been papped carry photos etc.. out of the WH.

A man was seen carrying the Lincoln Bust out – am sure it will find itself in the lobby of Mar a lago or Trump tower. Biden is going to find the WH stripped of its treasures next week. Trump and his cohorts have open the WH souvenir shop.
