Donald Trump resigns from SAG-AFTA in a sniveling, small-handed tantrum

Trump Addresses the Nation on the Election Results

SAG-AFTRA is the actors’ union. It’s not just big Hollywood names – if you’ve ever been listed as a cast member, regardless of the size of your role, you have a SAG card. If you’ve ever been on camera or spoken on camera for a film or TV show, you have a SAG card. There are dues (like any union) and benefits and SAG will help you find lawyers if you need to, say, sue for lost wages or something like that.

Before he was a fascist wannabe dictator, Donald Trump wanted to be famous. He was desperate for the validation of Hollywood in any way, shape or form. He muscled his way into cameos on films like Zoolander and Home Alone 2. During his presidency, various people tried to start movements to have him removed from those films and TV episodes. One Canadian broadcaster edited Trump out of Home Alone 2. Just after Trump incited a violent coup at the Capitol, there was a movement to remove Trump from every film and TV show he’s ever been in, and a call for SAG-AFTRA to even “impeach” his union membership, so to speak. Well, now that he has time on his hands and he’s not using that time to prepare for his impeachment trial in the Senate, Trump decided to officially resign from the SAG-AFTRA union. He sent a letter which he signed with a Sharpie pen and everything.

You knew it was going to be a full-scale Trump tantrum as soon as “WHO CARES!” appeared in the first line. A special favorite: “…created thousands of jobs at networks such as MSDNC and Fake News CNN…” And of course, “you have done nothing for me!” Douchebag has a $500 million Deutsche Bank loan call, he needs the $13.75 residuals from Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.

SAG’s shady response to Trump’s resignation tantrum? “Thank you.” OUCH!

I saw this last night and it gave me the best giggle.

    • Amy Too says:

It’s signed “Regards”!!!! A huge stupid rant about how much they suck and then a polite “Regards.”

      • Sunshine says:

Regards is the secret F U of the email world. Warm Regards is a double F U. Lol.

      • Hell Nah! says:

@Sunshine – thank you for this valuable little tidbit regarding “Regards”. I’ll put it to good use in my emails (where necessary). Lol — I’m looking forward to “Regards”ing up a storm!

      • Jane Smith says:

@HellNah “warm regards” is a big FU? I had no idea! I use warm regards and kind regards all the time. I guess I have to find some new salutations. Thank you

      • North of Boston says:

There’s a whole passive aggressive ‘escalation’ thing, where the first time you email someone it’s Kindest Regards, when they don’t respond or don’t do the thing, then it’s Warmest Regards and from then on it’s just Regards.

I may have the Kindest and Warmest reversed, but essential, whatever one you start with, you reverse it, while at the same time making your signature more and more formal (replacing your casual first name signature with your formal full name etc etc)

      • clomo says:

It is?! Oh no, lol, whoops, oh well.

    • Miss Agape says:

Gabrielle should have responded with: From the PRESIDENT of SAG-ACTRA – Thank you.
Can’t believe that Sociopath was President of the United States.

  2. ABritGuest says:

So funny. I can’t believe this loser was president

  3. Darla says:

    The response is brilliant.

  4. Izzy says:

It’s always nice when the trash takes itself out.

    • tempest prognosticator says:

      lol… It sure is!

    • AnnaKist says:

Hahaha! 😂. He really likes the word “egregious”. I’ve heard him use it a few times. Jog on, loser.

      • Noodle says:

That’s how you know he didn’t write it. The man speaks with a 6-year-old’s diction. He cannot pronounce Yosemite. Egregious is a speech-writer’s term.

      • (The OG) Jan90067 says:

Oh someone else (probably a lawyer) wrote it, then Mangolini added his own petulant, temper tantrum whine to it. It’s like when he went off script at his rallies and “winged it”, with his own brand of crap. He can’t help it.

But that last line: PURE Don the Con. Lolololol

  5. Lauren says:

Did he really sign it with a sharpie? My god! How has a preschooler like him get such a massive following?

    • Jennifer says:

He is not intelligent, well spoken, handsome, athletic, charming, or kind. How he got even one person to support him, much less millions, is something I will never understand.

      • manda says:

I know! His behavior is repellant in every way, it’s utterly baffling

      • ChloeCat says:

Jennifer, I ask myself that all the time. He possesses none of the traits that would typically draw people to him. The only thing I’ve figured out is that he’s as much of a loser as they are albeit it a wealthier one.

      • Digital Unicorn says:

People bought into the idea that he was a self made billionaire and you have The Apprentice to thank for that. Plus that also bought into the idea that it would be better for the US to have said ‘billionaire’ running the economy and country cause you know ‘art of the deal’.

Plus I think it was mostly because he was unafraid to say what they think. Same thing happened over here with Brexit, when people realised others as well as those in power thought like they do it emboldened them to be more open about it.

      • sa says:

“How he got even one person to support him, much less millions, is something I will never understand.”

        Yup, that’s where I am.

Shortly after the 2016 election my friend and I were having a conversation we’d had versions of several times since the election. We’d read about some specific demographic that voted for him and I was ranting about ‘how can they vote for him, he’ll make things worse for this group. They’re voting against their interests….’ and my friend interrupted me to remind me that if I don’t understand about how a single person voted for him, then I’m never going to understand how groups of people voted for him – and we agreed that my ‘how could this group vote for him’ rant would just be assumed anytime we heard of a group that supported him.

      • Becks1 says:

So, I’m just going to reiterate something I’ve said here before and that first stood out to me in the book Dog Whistle Politics, which is an excellent read btw, but it predates trump.

The author brings up the whole “voting against their interests” line and how they’re NOT voting against their interest – they’re voting against their ECONOMIC interest, but they’re voting to protect their RACIAL interests. People voted for Trump because they wanted him to ban Muslims, round up brown immigrants and deport them, build a wall to “protect the southern border,” all of that. His voters, for the most part, knew what they were doing when they voted for him. It’s not a huge mystery. They were absolutely voting for their interests. Just not how people usually use that term.

      • sa says:

@Becks1, I don’t know if you were responding to the part of my comment about people voting against their interests, but to clarify, I did not mean economic interests. Voting for Trump, for most people, is voting against their interests and that is not limited to their economic interests. Just as one example, women who voted for a man who celebrates sexual assault against women voted against their interests. That is not limited to economic interests.

      • Becks1 says:

@sa – but my point remains the same. They voted against some of their interests, but not all. The primary interest for the bulk of his voters is their racial interest, maintaining their place in the racial hierarchy/caste system we have in this country. So while they may have seemed to have voted against their interests, its just that one interest ranked above all others, so to speak. People vote for/against their interests all the time, depending on their priorities (someone who prioritizes social programs and government spending probably votes for someone who could raise their taxes, for example.) For some reason its only for Trump voters that its such a handwringing question – “why do people vote against their interests?!?!?” (not that you are handwringing, but political pundits sure spent a lot of time in 2016/17 wringing their hands about this question.)

And the answer is really much very simple – they didnt vote against “their interests” – they voted for the interest that most matters to them.

    • smcollins says:

Of course he did. And not only that, the letter head is the Presidential seal and his printed name is prefaced with “President” (yeah, they get the title for life but it’s still so pathetic because it’s him). Ugh…petty is as petty does.

    • Xantha says:

He got massive following by being the biggest racist in the room. He just said out loud what Republicans merely hinted at for decades and that’s all it took.

      • whatWHAT? says:

THIS. he hates (or, at least pretended to) the same people they do. he preyed on their hatred and fear of “the other”.

    • Swack says:

Wonder if he will be signing everything with sharpies from now on.

    • Noodle says:

A Sharpie is a typical power move. One time when we were buying a car and it came time for negotiations, the dealer had a Sharpie and handed us a ball point pen. We didn’t buy that day. The next time we went to another dealer, he brought out the Sharpie, and handed us a ball-point pen. My husband brought out the Sharpie from his pocket. The look on the guy’s face was hysterical. He didn’t expect US to pull the power move.

      • Hell Nah! says:

Okay, that’s hilarious. I LOVE your husband’s power move.

      • Lauren says:

If anyone were to sign any type document with a sharpie were I live they would trash that document and have them sign it with a ball point pen like an adult.

      • JBolivar says:

Never thought of that (sharpie=power move). Can see it w Trump, sharpie like adult crayon

I like to sign w fine point sharpie but not meant that way. I like way line flows, firmer mark makes…I do a lot of pen and ink drawing so appeals to me

  6. Amy Bee says:

SAG’s response to Trump is funny.

  7. Joanna says:

    Love their response! Hahaha

  8. Bettyrose says:

He’s not familiar with her work? Does anyone believe he didn’t spend the 90s scheduling his Thursday nights around 90210?

    • Esmom says:

He’s full of sh^t, as usual. I simultaneously could not and absolutely could believe this was real.

    • Holly hobby says:

I’m pretty sure he watched it with daughter wife.

    • Sarah says:

Right? I didn’t even grow up in North America and when I looked her up I was like “oh it’s the newspaper editor from 90210.” We might not have got the series but we still got bop and the big bopper where I lived. He’s so full of it.

  9. STRIPE says:

“Who cares. “ ? Clearly you do or you wouldn’t be writing a full page about it

This made me laugh so hard!

    • whatWHAT? says:

I don’t care but I’m resigning and sending you a full page letter to explain to you why I don’t care!

my goodness he’s such a petty little thing.

    • MF1 says:

He clearly cares. That’s why he’s throwing such a tantrum.

Meanwhile, SAG-AFTRA is all “new president, who dis?”

  10. Merricat says:

Lol. He has never been cast in a film for his talent.

  11. Becks1 says:

When I first saw this I thought for sure it was a joke. But nope. You know Trump really thought he was saying something here too and was putting those Hollywood elites in their place, and I’m sure Gabrielle Carteris just cracked up when she saw this.

  12. Miranda says:

What “work” is he proud of, exactly? Weren’t those all just cameo appearances as himself? I suppose it must have taken considerable effort to restrain himself from shouting dog whistles and flat-out racial slurs when he was on Fresh Prince, but I don’t know that that counts as “work”.

    • Holly hobby says:

Those cameo appearances that he twisted people’s arms to put in. Someone said if you wanted to use his property for filming that was the caveat.

  13. Jay says:

Look at that letterhead! He’s gonna pretend he’s the president until the very end, shuffling around Maralago and issuing demented executive orders on soiled taco bell napkins.

Does this mean he won’t be able to make any screen appearances ever again? That would be a win!

    • Miranda says:

He’s gonna start his own acting union! With blackjack! And underaged trafficked Russian hookers! In fact, forget the union!

(But seriously, who would even WANT him to appear in their movie at this point? Unless someone resurrects D.W. Griffith for a remake of Birth of a Nation.)

      • Jay says:

If he really wants to start his own TV network or appear as “talent”, would he need to belong to the union? This is so not my world, hopefully someone with knowledge can clarify.

I fully expect him to eventually try to rehabilitate his image by appearing in commercials or trying to get back on reality tv as a guest star. I definitely wouldn’t want him, but you know he’ll try. I doubt he’ll be able to settle all of his post-predidency lawsuits with a giant book advance, or corporate lectures, TV is all he really knows and he is desperate for a platform. It would be really nice if he didn’t have that option.

    • badrockandroll says:

You can’t fire me, I quit. You didn’t break off with me, I broke off with you. What a baby.
But a serious question … is he like a scab now? Will a union production get in trouble if it offers him a part? If news shows and crews are SAG-AFTA members, can they place Trump in Coventry, and refuse to work with him?

    • HeatherC says:

I hope that movies or TV shows with street scenes…at least half of them have the Trump baby blimp as a cameo in the background. We no longer have Stan Lee and his awesome cameos in Marvel movies, so it’s up to Trump Baby Blimp.

  14. Bibi says:

I love that donald writes his letters himself not like melania

    • Molly says:

I 100% thought it was parody. “Who cares?” “Home Alone 2” ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I can not believe this pathetic man was president for four years.

  15. windyriver says:

A (former) President of the United States is writing “…I’m very proud of my work on movies such as Home Alone 2”. Almost unbelievable; but unfortunately, all too real.

    • jules says:

Especially considering he only got his huuuuuge part in Home Alone to because he demanded it when they wanted to film in the Trump Plaza Hotel. It’s not like he auditioned and got a part. He’s a lunatic.

  16. MellyMel says:

What a loser! Love SAG’s response lol

  17. Apple Tart says:

He will bitch and whine about SAG-AFTRA. But is too much of a pussy to speak at his own Impeachment trial. Sounds about right.

  18. LaUnicaAngelina says:

    “Thank you.” *chef’s kiss* 😂

  19. TIFFANY says:

He wrote that letter like a Twitter thread.

    • NightOwl says:

Unbelievable. Can you imagine, on a day when he is being asked to respond to the Senate’s request, that he chooses to divert attention with this instead? Who is he dictating things like this to? I cannot imagine that he is facile enough to generate this on his own.

  20. HoofRat says:

I read this in the voice of a pissy three-year-old who is one whine away from the world’s longest time-out. Which is precisely what this loser deserves.

  21. Christin says:

Within the gazillion 2016-2020 news stories was one that mentioned he could get a pension and health care by being in this union. The assumption was that he was in those cameos and a TV show for that reason.

Now he receives top-notch health care, a pension and free security for life from the fluke of “winning” in 2016.

    • MaryRed says:

Actually 45 doesn’t get health insurance. You must have worked for the Feds for 5 years. President Carter did qualify either.

  22. Prof Trelawney says:

I’ve always been interested in handwriting, and his signature has always freaked me out — so insanely hostile. I don’t know how legit this is, and hope it’s okay to share, but I just found this and thought it was interesting: https://m.dailykos.com/stories/2020/10/27/1990192/-Trump-s-Handwriting-Analyzed-By-Expert-in-1988

  23. grabbyhands says:

You didn’t fire me, I quit!

I’m going to allow myself this temporary enjoyment of how frigging petty and childish this is and how much it is clearly driving him up the wall to not be able to rant on any social media platform that he is reduced to tantrums against SAG-AFTRA, and that he’s trying to pretend that it came from the office of the President and that he is still somehow in control of that.

Naturally part of me is still horrified to be reminded that this is how he also actually how he communicated during his entire presidency, but it’s Friday and I’m going to take some time off from that.

  24. Kimberly says:

90210’s Andrea would be very proud of Gabrielle’s response. 🤣

    • NightOwl says:

Yes! And he was so petty to say “While I’m not familiar with your work” …. as IF! Gabrielle, unlike T****, is also still president of her organization.

  25. Murphy says:

If only he had resigned the presidency like that.

  26. Lila says:

Good to see he’s focusing on the important things.

  27. Eleonora says:

If you wrote a letter like that in language class in fourth grade, you’d fail.

  28. Meg says:

I thought the specifics of this letter were a joke as i heard colbert read it on his show last night, but nope its this delusional unprofessional and dumb

  29. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

    God he’s a nasty piece o’poo.

  30. GuestwithCat says:

    Bye Felicia.

  31. Sayrah says:

    “Fifth-fully”…… lmao

  32. BodegaBay says:

I hate that he gets to use Presidential letterhead still.

    • BeanieBean says:

It’s actually not the official presidential seal, it’s just his own version. I’d love to see him slapped with a copyright infringement suit.

  33. Holly hobby says:

I’m surprised he didn’t address it as Dear Andrea, you’re not breaking up with me. I’m breaking up with you!

What a loser. Now that he’s muzzled on Twitter, he’s writing all these retorts (mostly about Liz Cheney) and asking anyone with an account to tweet it out. How pathetic is that? This was from an article posted on Twitter.

    • schmootc says:

He’s resorted to asking other people to tweet for him? That makes me happy. I’ve also been enjoying how no one has been paying him a whit of attention since the inauguration until this business. And hallelujah, it’s not separating families or voter suppression or some other horrible thing, it’s just him throwing a sad, pathetic hissy fit. So we can laugh at him being idiotic and move on with our day.

  34. tealily says:

THIS is what’s on his mind this week?

  35. Belly says:

Dufus just keeps on providing his own punchline.

Is there a comedian’s union he could join? Such a joke, he could be their mascot.

  36. Nicole Izanec says:

I just wanted to make the correction. It’s SAG-AFTRA. It reads sag-afta… the left out R is for radio.
