As we discussed, Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez are going through… something. Sources confirmed their split on Friday evening, but by Saturday morning, they were “back together” and issuing joint statements about how they were working through some sh-t. They’ve been together four years, and despite the near-constant rumors of Alex’s philandering, they’ve always seemed to be on the same page about everything. They effortlessly blended their families. Everybody gets along. J-Rod has advertising contracts and business investments as a couple. They had already started to commingle finances and buy property together. My point is that if they do end up breaking up for-real, it will already feel like a “divorce” even though they are not married. So is that what they’re working through? I don’t know, but Page Six (the outlet which broke the split news on Friday) has a better timeline of just what happened:
Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez were up all night talking after Page Six’s bombshell report that they broke up and by Saturday morning released a vague statement claiming they are “working through some things.”
“All the reports are inaccurate. We are working through some things,” the two claimed in a statement obtained by Page Six. The statement did not specifically acknowledge whether the mega-stars, collectively known as “J-Rod,” are still a couple — or even still engaged.
“They are trying to work through things… but it’s unclear if that means they are staying together,” a source close to the couple said. It wasn’t immediately clear what their all-night chin wag was about, but the power pair, who has a number of business interests together, have been figuring out how to divide their vast assets, sources have said. The two remain geographically apart. A source had told us on Friday of the pair: “He’s now in Miami getting ready for baseball season, and she’s filming her movie in the Dominican Republic.”
An insider close to the stars added, “they have been separated, and they’ve been having issues that couples often have.” The same source told us of the stunning report that the couple was splitting: “Could they have a change of heart? Page Six might be responsible for bringing them back together.”
The two were having a difficult time in their relationship in the weeks that led up to the split, insiders said. “For the last two weeks they have not been together and the last few days they were not good,” sources tell us. “They’ve been having some crazy issues.”
A source further adds that 51-year-old Lopez has “recently been very upset on the set” of her latest film, “Shotgun Wedding,” which is filming in the Dominican Republic. Rodriguez, meanwhile, has been home in Miami. Sources exclusively tell Page Six that Lopez and Rodriguez were preparing to tell their children about the split Friday afternoon after Page Six called for comment.
Meantime, the trouble in paradise came after rumors A-Rod had been FaceTiming with “Southern Charm” star Madison LeCroy. Sources close to the baseball legend shot down the rumors to The Post last month by saying, “He doesn’t know this woman.” LeCroy, however, admitted the couple have “spoken on the phone,” but have “never met up” to Page Six. LeCroy did not comment when Page Six reached out to her on Friday.
Sources close to A-Rod and J.Lo are adamant that the LeCroy rumors did not cause the recent rift between the couple. A source told Page Six on Friday, “There were already problems, but Jennifer was really embarrassed by it.”
Whew, a lot to unpack here. I think this is one of the most interesting parts: “They’ve been having some crazy issues” combined with “Lopez has ‘recently been very upset on the set’ of her latest film.” My take is that his quiet philandering was one thing, but Jennifer found out about something BIG pretty recently, like in the past month, and she’s been wrestling with whether or not to stick it out with Alex or just end it and untangle herself from his mess. And I do think it’s about an affair on his part – this whole drama is not about finances or distance or even the pandemic. It’s not a situation where “they were just getting on each other’s nerves.” This is a situation where he was banging someone else and she found out. That’s the only thing that makes sense to me.
Also: I think we can safely say that the Shotgun Wedding movie is officially cursed, right? Jennifer’s leading man was supposed to be Armie Hammer before he exited in a blaze of cannibalism and abuse. Now she finds out something major about A-Rod while she’s working on the movie? CURSED!

It was all over the gossip mags/sites maybe 10 years ago. He tried to laugh it off when asked about it but the fact that he didn’t flat out deny it in outrage made me believe that it’s true.

Here is the thing about Jennifer. She is woman who thrives off the drama aspect of the relationship.

@Tiffany there are women who are catnip to narcissists. They are often a little bit needy and emotional, they love to be smother loved, they are very sympathetic and empathetic and want to help their men. So the narcs loooove them and target them. And then they get addicted to narc drama. The love bombing aspect that narcs do suits them – they love the adoration, they love being treated as special or a trophy, and they love the roller coaster of drama.
My friend has been getting major therapy for this after two hugely damaging relationships with narcissists in a row. She has realised that she finds normal, stable men boring and that she is addicted to the narc drama, even though it hurts. She is a bit of an empath. She loves being put on a pedestal and she loves being love bombed. They treated her like a trophy wife and she does that really well for a short time – she’s tiny, gorgeous and sexy, always perfectly put together, immaculate, cooks her boyfriends 3 course meals every time she sees them, etc etc. But in the end she doesn’t suit being a trophy because she is too intelligent and too independent and she is strong, even though she lets these men take over her life.
I feel like J-Lo is similar.

I think she needs to do some deep reflection and therapy to determine why she chooses these men who keep disappointing her and letting her down. “She has a bad picker” makes it sound like something in her is broken or that it’s just a quirky part of who she is beyond her control. There is something that draws her to these men that don’t treat her well which she needs to address.
Or maybe these men need to do some deep reflection and figure out why they don’t just stay single if they want to play the field. Why is it always the woman that gets blamed?
It’s not blame, I think it’s wanting her to do better for herself, and wanting her to believe she deserves better. He’s a jackwad and will always be, we can’t help that. But we can be supportive in not wanting her to date jackwads.
Seriously women can’t know beforehand. You can have the nicest sweetest guy and years later find out he’s a horrible man. There aren’t many good men out there because they never face any repercussions for their misbehavior.
The only thing I can think of is that either one of his women is pregnant or he slept with someone she knew and trusted. She’s not stupid. She must know he wandered regularly while they were together so I can’t see one more affair on its own making a difference.

Yeah, someone pointed out on the last thread that he needed to redeem himself. I think getting together with JLo was a big part of that.

I think it’s complicated by the fact that the kids really get along and love each other like siblings. Her kids love him and his kids love her. If she was still single she would have dropped him already-but it’s harder when you know how the family unit will change.

I remember my brother bemoaning that he could have been considered one of the all time greats but that his reputation has been so thoroughly tarnished. And hes just sooo smug. Like the Lance Armstrong of the baseball world.
He used sterioids his whole career. Denied it over and over again, threatened to sue MLB and clubhouse doctor even thought he was 100% guilty. He finally got suspended for a year in 2014. Thats on top of blatantly cheating on his ex wife with and missing his youngest daughter’s birth because he was out frolicking with Madonna….

His ego got over inflated back to his pre scandal levels once he got with Jlo. She needs to go scorched earth and rip into his dumb ass. I am so so sick of the fake arod redemption tour.
I don’t understand the appeal of this man. When Kate Hudson and Cameron Diaz went out with him they both transformed into gym rats and got breast implants for him (nothing too big). I saw that JLo was starting to become his most recent celebrity being transformed into the body type he desires even though she has always been fit. He likes overly muscular women and that is the common denominator in the women he is accused of cheating with. JLo just needs to spend some time with herself, its okay to be single and happy (same goes to you Halle Berry). I always felt what they had most in common was dressing up and making entrances.

I was never invested in this couple and never thought they would ever get married. Just knowing Jennifer’s track record with men, she always seems to attract drama in relationships, even though she comes across as a very down to earth, non-dramatic person. I’m just so glad she never got engaged or married to Casper Smart. One of the smartest decisions she ever made when it came to her dating life.
I also don’t find A-Rod attractive at all. I simply don’t see what other women see. I don’t really care about the two of them either way, but I think for the kids this may be a bit drawn out to ease them into it. That’s another thing I don’t get with J. Lo. She’s got kids, she should want a good role model to be around them and she continues to pick terrible partners to be with.

Kids survive divorce every day. Most couples staying together “for the sake of the kids” end up not doing those kids any favors.
J Lo is single. All the other stuff such as businesses and property ownership can be fairly easily worked out when there is no marriage involved.
