Ivanka Trump’s vaccine photos did not get the reception she was expecting

John Corbett arrives at the Los Angeles Premi...

Ivanka Trump has spent the first three months of the Biden Administration hiding out in Florida with all of the other MAGA swamp creatures. I know that she’s seriously considering some kind of run for office, hey, maybe she should carpetbag her way into Matt Gaetz’s district. I had a theory that most of the people around Donald Trump got vaccinated in the last days of that Confederate administration, but apparently not. Donald and Melania Trump definitely got vaxxed in the January, but Ivanka did not. Ivanka got her (first?) shot this week, and she posted the photos on her social:

As Vanity Fair pointed out, Ivanka did not get the reception she was expecting.

Obviously there was a large contingent of people who expressed justifiable anger that the ex-first daughter hadn’t done more (or anything) on the coronavirus front back when she was a White House employee and her father was in power. “You could have told people that covid wasn’t a ‘dem hoax’. You could have told people Covid wasn’t going to ‘disappear like a miracle’, or with the ‘warmer weather.’ You could’ve helped stop hundreds of thousands of American deaths but you didn’t. You didn’t. So you’re too late,” wrote one Twitter user, referencing just a few of the things Donald Trump said about the virus last year.

“Some of us remember how your husband abandoned NYers, leaving them to fend for themselves as the pandemic raged, simply because their governor wouldn’t kowtow to Trump’s vanity,” said another, alluding to the the fact that Jared Kushner declared in March 2020 that New Yorkers “are going to suffer and that’s their problem,” a comment that made it onto a Times Square billboard. “You couldn’t just whisper ‘hey masks are ok’ into daddy’s ear?” wondered a third. “Too bad you refused to step up while your dad and his soulless cohorts politicized the pandemic, hid its serious deadliness, were spreading lies and propaganda about Covid and its prevention,” remarked yet another.

Perhaps even more worrisome, though, were the reactions from people not pissed at Princess Purses’s flaming hypocrisy, but angry at her for getting the vaccine in the first place. “No thanks! With a 99% survival rate, I shall pass. With Bill Gates involved I will not get one,” said one user. “So so disappointed in you! How could you,” wrote another. Other comments included: “Hell no. Why would you post this?”; “Nope not putting that in my body”; “Wow that’s extremely disappointing, but honestly I’m not surprised”; and “Nope and please stop trying to manipulate us into doing so. It’s surprising to see you doing this now like the left and Hollywood have been.”

[From VF]

VF then brings up the fact that the vaccination rates are pretty stark when comparing “blue states” and “red states.” In states which voted for Donald Trump, people just aren’t seeking out the vaccines like people in blue states. I would imagine it’s a combination of factors, taking into account individual politics and the general incompetence of Republican leadership at the state level. States with Trump-aligned Republican governors are obviously doing a sh-tty job with their vaccine rollouts. States with Democratic leaders are doing a better job with the rollout. In any case, Ivanka is a reprehensible dumbass.

thank you for pulling from a Bess Levin piece in VF, she is *great*

also Ivanka sucks and I’m happy she got flamed lol

  2. Mich says:

    “Princess Purses”. Snicker.

  3. JT says:

Now that she’s out of office, it looks like she’s trying reintegrate back into civilized society. I don’t think it’s going to be as easy as she thought. So many people died due to her and her family’s incompetence and straight up thuggish ways.

Being Maga isn’t profitable when daddy isn’t in charge. Oh how quickly she abandoned her bullshit once Biden was elected. I find it funny that she is being skewered on both sides of the aisle though. I hope it sticks and she slinks in to complete irrelevance and hopefully jail. Although with our justice system, maybe just penniless will have to do.

    • Esmom says:

I also find it funny that she’s getting grief from both sides. Although seeing so many MAGAs so firmly anti-vax is disconcerting and alarming. The “no thanks to anything involving Bill Gates” is particularly rich. I guess they don’t use technology, then.

      • (The OG) Jan90067 says:

They are typing it on their PCs, ironically enough.

      • Golly Gee says:

Yeah. Someone needs to go on Telegram or Parler and tell them that Bill Gates has planted subliminal messages in the Microsoft software they’re using, aimed at turning them into Commies. 😂

    • Sarah says:

Yep. I’m here for this bipartisan flaming!

  4. Lightpurple says:

What was she hoping to achieve, a nation screaming its gratitude that a viper who spent four years stealing from us, destroying our federal bureaucracy, & pushing loathsome, dangerous policies staged a photo op getting a vaccine that she & Daddy wrongly took credit for developing?

    • Esmom says:

It seems like that is exactly what she was hoping to achieve, the feckless b^tch.

    • Original Jenns says:

She seems to have forgotten that her husband stole millions of dollars of PPE that was headed toward hospitals, and claimed it was the federal reserve, even though states had paid for it. He was a legit mobster hi-jacking trucks. I hope she and he get COVID regardless of vaccine, and lose their sense of taste forever.

  5. Case says:

After this past year, I don’t think I see myself ever moving to a red state (I have family in SC and really like it there but…no). States have so much power and seeing the stark difference in how they’ve controlled (or not controlled) the pandemic is honestly horrifying. I feel lucky every day to live in a blue state where we’re pretty much all wearing masks everywhere and taking social distancing seriously, at least when it comes to businesses.

I’m so sorry for those who are trying to stay safe and live in a state where people aren’t being careful and don’t want to get vaccinated.

    • MerlinsMom1018 says:

      @ Case:
I live in Texas and the very small town I live in is probably the reddest of the red, but the stores here are still enforcing masks (I have seen some people being forced to leave for not complying) and most everyone on the neighborhood page I belong to has received at least one dose of the vaccine and the admins encourage everyone to get it.
Maybe my little hamlet is the exception? I don’t know.

      • SlipperyPeople says:

I also live in a red state and our governor has taken the pandemic very seriously. I have only seen a handful of anti maskers during the entire pandemic. People who look down on red states fail to mention how expensive it is to live in a blue state. We’re all in this together, like it or not.

      • Case says:

That’s good to hear! It’s scary to hear of states lifting mask mandates, but it gives me hope that stores are still upholding the rules and trying to keep people safe.

@SlipperyPeople — was not at all looking down on red states, but just reflecting how, in the article, it mentions how people in red states are less likely to get vaccinated. Because true protection depends on the community, I was just sympathizing with the fact that there are tons of people in these states trying to be safe, which will be harder to do if their local population doesn’t want the vaccine.

      • lemon8 says:

I live in CT, but am from TX. We visited last week and I was pleased to see how many people were wearing masks. Almost everyone in my family is vaccinated and we actually received the J&J vaxx while we were there. It was fairly easy to schedule. We’re considering a move back down there because we are getting priced out by people leaving NYC. Red states get a bad rep, but there are PLENTY of people (at least in TX) that care about public health.

      • Betsy says:

@SlipperyPeople – what does the alleged expense of living in a blue state have to do with anything? Minnesota is blue. Wisconsin is blue. Michigan is blue. (And we’re all three of us more or less covid hot spots because the Republicans among us do NOT take covid seriously).

      • SlipperyPeople says:

I didn’t realize how rude my comment was. I lived in California for many years and had to move due to the expense and family situations. Thank you all for bringing that to my attention. I appreciate everyone one my fellow Celebitches. I
was being way over sensitive and I apologize.

    • MF1 says:

I totally agree. States have a lot of power. It’s often easier for them to pass legislation and enact healthy & safety rules compared to the federal government

For me, it’s more about reproductive rights than masks. As a woman of child-bearing age, I just could never be comfortable living in a state that might take away my bodily autonomy.

      • Snrub says:

Michigan may vote blue, but really it’s very red outside of Detroit and Ann Arbor metro areas. West Michigan is very, very, very red. (From a Detroiter who lived in West Michigan then went back to Detroit as soon as I was able).

      • North of Boston says:

Hmmm Snrub, hearing about the very red areas in Michigan makes me start to wonder exactly what the “pure” in the “Pure Michigan” tourism campaign is referring to?

      • Betsy says:

@Snrub – but land mass doesn’t vote. Most of the people vote Democratic.

    • Esmom says:

I’m living in a red state at the moment and the governor has handled the pandemic and the state the vaccine distribution very well. So much so that the MAGAs in the state legislature are trying to strip some of his powers, of course. The mask mandate was listed recently thanks to pressure from those MAGAs but most people are still wearing masks and most businesses are still requiring them. I think there’s a difference between a red/Trump state and a red state with a Trump-worshipping governor.

      • Emm says:

You live in the Midwest? Our Rep governor did a good job for most of the pandemic but recently lifted that mask mandate and I’ve seen a lot of people out without them looking like they are ready to fight anyone who says anything. I went to target for the first time in over a year, because I am now fully vaccinated and wore my mask and there are signs everywhere about masks being required yet I watched several people walking in without and no one says a word, what’s the point of the signs then? Also, our eligibility for the vaccine has been down to 16 for weeks not and I haven’t seen significant movement in the vaccination percentage and we are a state with cases increasing. Lord help us.

      • Esmom says:

Yes, Indiana. So far I haven’t seen maskless people. But I don’t get out much either, lol.

      • Emm says:

Same @esmom. I knew that’s why I liked you lol. I live in a purpleish county. Lots of crazed magas though but right next to a blue county. It’s just really upsetting and frustrating to see that they are doing mass vaccinations at the arenas and everyone has been eligible for weeks and still all these people are out here screaming about their rights and yanked their masks off the first chance they got and have no intention of getting the vaccine. I think o just saw that we have 30% of our supply just sitting unused. We are looking to move back to a blue state in the near future though. Not that they are perfect but when we visit it’s night and day as far as mask use attitude. I can’t take it here anymore and we just had a “political” incident at one of the schools, not a high school, in our school district last week that was absolutely pushed by parents inserting themselves and making their young children think they have any idea what’s going on in politics or with social issues right now. I don’t want my kids to be raised here.

      • Andie says:

To the poster who asked about the point of the signs in Target, the point is people take personal responsibility and wear a mask.

Up until last month I worked in a store in a province with an indoor mask mandate (Canada.) I was hired as a clerk, not a public health officer. I am paid as a store clerk, not a public health officer. Yet in trying to enforce a public health order I was yelled at, sworn at, ignored, and threatened. Target employees, or any store employees, CANNOT be expected to force a mask mandate.

I’m old and don’t care, but I saw my teenage and young-20’s coworkers— minimum wage earners, btw— reduced to tears by these people. It is not fair to expect them to shoulder the responsibility of enforcing mask mandates.

Oh and my husband works at a store here in town that used to enforce the mask mandate without exception. Someone drove by at night and shot out all the windows along one side. So.

      • Esmom says:

Emm, We might live very close, is the school issue you are talking about the LGBTQ flag issue?!

I hear you on everything you’re saying. My friends from Chicago considered coming here for the vaccine when they lifted the residency requirement and the shots were still so hard to get there. But eventually they all ended up getting appointments in either the city or suburbs. You are right that people take mask wearing much more seriously there.

I’ve spent most of my life in Chicago and while I’ve been here in IN full time for over a year, I’ll be heading back to the city probably by Thanksgiving because my window to work remotely is closing. Tbh, Chicago has changed a ton in the past 10 years, it has more than its fair share of MAGAs. In fact, one neighborhood not far from my old house actually voted for Trump. And don’t get me started on the police.

Red state or blue state, intolerance and bigotry and selfishness is sadly everywhere. As someone mentioned above, Michigan is blue but hoo-boy the MAGAs my son has encountered at university in MI have been extremely eye-opening and disappointing to him. Our country is so very broken.

      • Emm says:

@andie. I understand that you and all of those target employees aren’t hired or even get paid enough to confront all of these people. I do. It’s just frustrating as a person who tries to help protect everyone that these people, magas in my area, usually get a kick out of walking into a place that says they require masks, maskless. I’ve seen it on social media and even from family. I was just venting my frustration as someone who follows the rules, sorry if it upset you. This whole thing is just a mess and our governor made it worse by lifting the mandate when people aren’t getting vaccinated and cases are going up.

    • Merricat says:

I live in a red state and the people here are fools.

      • BothSidesNow says:

Merricat, me too!! But I happen to unfortunately have the most incompetent, stupid, ignorant and self-centered Governor with Greg Abbott and his sniveling, lying and criminal Lt. Governor, should we are screwed in every sense of the word.
The only silver lining is that I read that the census won’t be available went they draw the redistricting to allow them the latest data. But they will continue with their Jim Crow ere tactics as usual, including the current bills that are going into passage.

      • MerlinsMom1018 says:

        @ BothSidesNow
I live in Texas as well and agree with you about Abbott and his cronies.
He’s already stated he’s running for re-election and anybody with the common sense god gave paint knows he’s heavily into the back pockets of the right., which is why it surprises me that in the area I live in, masks are being worn and 6 feet protocols are being followed and pretty much everyone in my area has received at least one vaccine.
This is a HEAVY abbott and trump area. Go figure

    • GuestintheWest says:

I live in a blue island in a low population red state. Our governor is mostly worthless full stop and that hasn’t changed during the pandemic. We did finally get a statewide mask mandate but it wasn’t until the ICUs were overflowing across the state this fall (we had one locally starting in June), and that has since been cancelled, although our local one keeps getting extended thankfully. HOWEVER, our vaccine rollout has gone really well. Anyone 16 and up is eligible for a vaccine at this point. My whole family, at least those who are age eligible not the toddler, is fully vaccinated and my entire office is either fully or partially. Unfortunately our state also has the highest vaccine hesitancy which is infuriating. Sometimes I fantasize about moving back to a blue state, but then I remember I have relatives in blue states who refuse to get vaccinated so I don’t know.

  6. Lucy2 says:

This is a win for us, as far as I can see. Maybe she convinces a few trumpers to get the vaccine, which is good for society.
She has eroded her own support by doing something “offensive“ to the deplorables.
It’s a good reminder how evil she and her husband are.
We get to enjoy watching her get publicly trashed for it.

  7. MerlinsMom1018 says:

Came here to say I hope Nurse Torres dove head first into a huge vat of sanitizer after THAT little encounter

  8. Tate says:

This witch thought she would keep quiet for a few months and then pop back out there and everyone would forget her part in all of the death and destruction. Screw her

    • Rise & Shine says:

Hey Tate! And part of the reason she was keeping quiet was because there have been many independent govt. reports being done on her so called Women’s Empowerment program. Oer the reports It was a total debacle and there are huge amounts of money unaccounted for. When it was getting her good PR she said it was due to her, now that problems are appearing she is claiming she is not responsible. Ivanka and Jared have no plans on leaving, they are rehabbing their image bigtime. Ugh, what a nightmare. Oh well, hope all here are well. Love to you all.

  9. Izzy says:

She can just fck right off a cliff. That’s it. That’s my tweet.

    • Betsy says:

      I cosign your tweet.

I have nothing but ill will toward all of these horrible people, every last one of them.

  10. Amy Bee says:

I’m surprised she’s wearing mask in that picture given everybody in the Trump Administration, including her refused to wear masks.

    • AMA1977 says:

I’m positive it’s half PR and half because the facility would have thrown her out on her evil, stupid, bony a$$ if she hadn’t worn one. I wish they had.

  11. Christine says:

This family was on a power trip the entire time daddy was in office and the fact that they couldn’t see this coming is laughable. You can’t be terrible for four years and expect people to just forget that. Her life and opportunities are never going to be the same, especially in the circles she so desperately wants to be in.

  12. Tom says:

And then there was the QAnon take of she said THE shot not the COVID shot so obvi this is secret code all will be revealed blah blah blah. Debunked by very close look at photo . There is a form indicating COVID vaccination.

All credit to Keith Olberman’s twitter feed.

    • Lightpurple says:

Not only Covid vaccination but some of the paperwork is in German, the vaccine she got was developed outside Operation Warp Speed.

  13. WithTheAmerican says:

I’m pretty sure she took a screenshot of her earlier vaccination. There’s no way they waited their turn.

Also I don’t care what a person does with their own body, but she’s so fake inside and out. Her new implant size is a better fit.

    • Betsy says:

It is. That must be where she’s been; recuperating.

    • Dilettante says:

I was wondering why her body looked relatively “normal”. Thanks for the insight.

    • whatWHAT? says:

huh…I was thinking that her implants look fairly normal and not “circus” like…you’re right, she got new ones.

but I’m with Izzy above – she can FRO a cliff.

    • Golly Gee says:

Yup. I’ll bet this is her second shot.

  14. nutella toast says:

I read yesterday that the GOP is trying to rebrand themselves as the party of the working middle class and poor because Trump has performed so well with white, less educated voters in particular (bahahahahaha to being “the workers party”…but anyway). Is this her blue jean, white t-shirt way of cosplaying “just like you”? And a nurse with a last name “Torres”…c’mon. I’m sure that was random and not trying to show how down she is with Hispanic voters (of which I am one and I think it’s offensive to think people with fewer resources are incapable of critical thinking). I just threw up a little.

    • SarahCS says:

I was wondering if she called ICE to check Nurse Torres immigration status after the photo was taken. That seems to be the way their minds work.

    • megs283 says:

I agree. She’s one bandanna away from claiming a relation to Rosie the Riveter.

    • Merricat says:

Lol, the GOP’s position on taxes is not working-class friendly. They’re the party of civil rights suppression and white nationalism, as the past four years can attest.

    • Seraphina says:

Good catch Nutella Toast. Everything is optics with this family – and politicians in general. Just like her father would wear the Blue suit, White shirt and Red tie. So obvious.

BTW, my son adores nutella and toast almost every day!

  15. Ohpioneer says:

Not all Republican states. My state (Ohio) has a Republican governor. Our vaccine rollout has been aggressive and organized. Not only do we have several mass vaccination sites as well as vaccines available at multiple pharmacies ( and as of two weeks ago anyone 16 & older can get the shot) we have pop up shot locations in areas where the population is historically underserved. He has been very bold in his encouragement that all eligible and able Ohioans get vaccinated. At over 36% of the state’s population vaccinated we are well ahead of the national average of 23% thank you very much.

    • Carabella says:

Ohio is still very much a swing state. The MSM paints states as either red or blue, most people don’t. The margins that tip states like Ohio one way or the other are often razor thin.

    • WithTheAmerican says:

The pop up locations are usually federally pushed by Biden admin, but it’s good to see your governor isn’t actively undermining the rollout.

  16. Sarah says:

Ooof, those Twitter responses really highlight the different realities people are living in. Meanwhile in Canada, there are no vaccines in sight and cases are raging. It’s so frustrating to see anti-vaxx garbage when people are suffering and dying.

  17. Veronica S. says:

Several of the red states did just fine with the roll out and, infuriatingly enough, managed to open it up to everyone faster than most of the rest of us thanks to their smaller populations. The others just don’t care. It’s just a matter of how much of the general population is going to get it, and I have a feeling the damage is done, so to speak. Not only that it’s politicized but also that biologically, the virus is inevitably going to continue mutating. It’ll be a long time before I see us going back to normal.

The anti-vaxxers are going to screw us where the variants are concerned, and in all likelihood, we’ll see this become another yearly vaccine, which…the health implications are concerning, that’s for certain. Most people who are anti-vaccine are idiots, but there’s no getting around the fact that the more vaccines you receive, the more you increase the risk of a reaction. The benefits usually massively outweigh the risks, but there is just no ability for us to wholly predict every individual response, so you’re bound to see a few serious ones, and that’s a beast that’s going to feed itself where that demographic is concerned.

  22. Mina_Esq says:

I hate the people that cite the ridiculous “99% survival rate”. I can’t believe how profoundly dumb some people are. I’m actually glad she posted. Maybe it gets through to that one functioning brain cell of the average Trump supporter that they should get the vaccine.

    • nutella toast says:

@ Mina_Esq I agree – that means that if everyone got COVID in the U.S., 3.29 million people would die using a 99% survival rate….I mean….if we put that in terms some Americans are willing to understand, thats 132 full Super Bowl stadiums. How is that OK?

    • olliesmom says:

Yeah that gets me too. That means that 1% of the population will die. The US population alone is at 328.2 MILLION. When you do the math, that’s A LOT of people. But of course math is hard and their red state educational system failed them miserably and they weren’t taught critical thinking skills either. That number doesn’t even take into account all of the people who SURVIVED Covid 19 and are left with life long disabilities.

Didn’t see your post above, nutella toast before I posted my response.

  23. Rapunzel says:

I unfriended someone who posted yesterday that everyone who took the Pfizer shot was gonna die within 2 years. Because this shot is a grand depopulation scheme.

Live in CA – blue state. However there are tons of counties that are red. It feels like the state is becoming more and more red every month.

  26. Zantasia says:

If this gets even one person to get the vaccine, great. She is awful, but anything to get people to vaccinate.

  27. Waitwhat? says:

Slightly off-topic, but it is so good not to see the Trump family’s faces every day.

  28. Dara says:

I live in the blue portion of my state, and haven’t been able to find a vaccine appointment within 50 miles for the next 30 days. On a whim, I looked where my aunt and uncle live (deeply red) and could get an appointment next week at a few different locations.

    • Merricat says:

That’s partly because they can’t get people to sign up for it, so they have a lot of supply, with less demand. In blue states, everyone wants it, so it’s harder to get.

      • Dara says:

So the question becomes whether or not I make two 300-mile trips to get vaccinated sooner, or do I just squash my vaccine-envy and wait it out. I feel like every person I know has already gotten at least one shot, and I’m stuck in Covid purgatory.

      • Elizabeth says:

I live in a purple county in a deep blue state. The vaccine is widely available esp at the big National Guard sites. My county has opened to all adults for almost a month now and we have vaccinated over 90% of our 65+ and close to 40% of 16-64.

  29. Sarcasm101 says:

If she dropped dead shortly after the injection she’d get all the attention she wants. *side grin

  30. The Recluse says:

Poor thing…trying to have it both ways. Good thing about the shot though. Perhaps a few of her mindless worshippers will get the shot, but they’re a lost bunch on the whole.

  31. Diversity of Thought says:

As predicted, once the Dems got back in the partisan rubes would go back to sleep and ignore the stuff they found so outrageous under the Trump administration.
    @countrybeforeparty.

  32. Galpal says:

I live in eastern Washington, right next door to northern Idaho. Even though our state is doing okay, there’s always that threat from the east. I’m so thankful for my vaccine, even though I got sick as a dog after the second one. Absolutely with it, in my opinion, as someone who works in healthcare. Oh, and as to Ivana, in my opinion, she and her family don’t merit attention or opinion. It saddens me so that others worship them, or anything, blindly.
