Ivanka Trump has spent the first three months of the Biden Administration hiding out in Florida with all of the other MAGA swamp creatures. I know that she’s seriously considering some kind of run for office, hey, maybe she should carpetbag her way into Matt Gaetz’s district. I had a theory that most of the people around Donald Trump got vaccinated in the last days of that Confederate administration, but apparently not. Donald and Melania Trump definitely got vaxxed in the January, but Ivanka did not. Ivanka got her (first?) shot this week, and she posted the photos on her social:

As Vanity Fair pointed out, Ivanka did not get the reception she was expecting.
Obviously there was a large contingent of people who expressed justifiable anger that the ex-first daughter hadnât done more (or anything) on the coronavirus front back when she was a White House employee and her father was in power. âYou could have told people that covid wasnât a âdem hoaxâ. You could have told people Covid wasnât going to âdisappear like a miracleâ, or with the âwarmer weather.â You couldâve helped stop hundreds of thousands of American deaths but you didnât. You didnât. So youâre too late,â wrote one Twitter user, referencing just a few of the things Donald Trump said about the virus last year.
âSome of us remember how your husband abandoned NYers, leaving them to fend for themselves as the pandemic raged, simply because their governor wouldnât kowtow to Trumpâs vanity,â said another, alluding to the the fact that Jared Kushner declared in March 2020 that New Yorkers âare going to suffer and thatâs their problem,â a comment that made it onto a Times Square billboard. âYou couldnât just whisper âhey masks are okâ into daddyâs ear?â wondered a third. âToo bad you refused to step up while your dad and his soulless cohorts politicized the pandemic, hid its serious deadliness, were spreading lies and propaganda about Covid and its prevention,â remarked yet another.
Perhaps even more worrisome, though, were the reactions from people not pissed at Princess Pursesâs flaming hypocrisy, but angry at her for getting the vaccine in the first place. âNo thanks! With a 99% survival rate, I shall pass. With Bill Gates involved I will not get one,â said one user. âSo so disappointed in you! How could you,â wrote another. Other comments included: âHell no. Why would you post this?â; âNope not putting that in my bodyâ; âWow thatâs extremely disappointing, but honestly Iâm not surprisedâ; and âNope and please stop trying to manipulate us into doing so. Itâs surprising to see you doing this now like the left and Hollywood have been.â
VF then brings up the fact that the vaccination rates are pretty stark when comparing âblue statesâ and âred states.â In states which voted for Donald Trump, people just arenât seeking out the vaccines like people in blue states. I would imagine itâs a combination of factors, taking into account individual politics and the general incompetence of Republican leadership at the state level. States with Trump-aligned Republican governors are obviously doing a sh-tty job with their vaccine rollouts. States with Democratic leaders are doing a better job with the rollout. In any case, Ivanka is a reprehensible dumbass.

After this past year, I don’t think I see myself ever moving to a red state (I have family in SC and really like it there but…no). States have so much power and seeing the stark difference in how they’ve controlled (or not controlled) the pandemic is honestly horrifying. I feel lucky every day to live in a blue state where we’re pretty much all wearing masks everywhere and taking social distancing seriously, at least when it comes to businesses.
I’m so sorry for those who are trying to stay safe and live in a state where people aren’t being careful and don’t want to get vaccinated.

I live in Texas and the very small town I live in is probably the reddest of the red, but the stores here are still enforcing masks (I have seen some people being forced to leave for not complying) and most everyone on the neighborhood page I belong to has received at least one dose of the vaccine and the admins encourage everyone to get it.
Maybe my little hamlet is the exception? I don’t know.
I also live in a red state and our governor has taken the pandemic very seriously. I have only seen a handful of anti maskers during the entire pandemic. People who look down on red states fail to mention how expensive it is to live in a blue state. We’re all in this together, like it or not.
That’s good to hear! It’s scary to hear of states lifting mask mandates, but it gives me hope that stores are still upholding the rules and trying to keep people safe.
@SlipperyPeople â was not at all looking down on red states, but just reflecting how, in the article, it mentions how people in red states are less likely to get vaccinated. Because true protection depends on the community, I was just sympathizing with the fact that there are tons of people in these states trying to be safe, which will be harder to do if their local population doesn’t want the vaccine.
I live in CT, but am from TX. We visited last week and I was pleased to see how many people were wearing masks. Almost everyone in my family is vaccinated and we actually received the J&J vaxx while we were there. It was fairly easy to schedule. We’re considering a move back down there because we are getting priced out by people leaving NYC. Red states get a bad rep, but there are PLENTY of people (at least in TX) that care about public health.

For me, it’s more about reproductive rights than masks. As a woman of child-bearing age, I just could never be comfortable living in a state that might take away my bodily autonomy.
Michigan may vote blue, but really it’s very red outside of Detroit and Ann Arbor metro areas. West Michigan is very, very, very red. (From a Detroiter who lived in West Michigan then went back to Detroit as soon as I was able).

I’m living in a red state at the moment and the governor has handled the pandemic and the state the vaccine distribution very well. So much so that the MAGAs in the state legislature are trying to strip some of his powers, of course. The mask mandate was listed recently thanks to pressure from those MAGAs but most people are still wearing masks and most businesses are still requiring them. I think there’s a difference between a red/Trump state and a red state with a Trump-worshipping governor.

Our Rep governor did a good job for most of the pandemic but recently lifted that mask mandate and Iâve seen a lot of people out without them looking like they are ready to fight anyone who says anything. I went to target for the first time in over a year, because I am now fully vaccinated and wore my mask and there are signs everywhere about masks being required yet I watched several people walking in without and no one says a word, whatâs the point of the signs then? Also, our eligibility for the vaccine has been down to 16 for weeks not and I havenât seen significant movement in the vaccination percentage and we are a state with cases increasing. Lord help us.

Itâs just really upsetting and frustrating to see that they are doing mass vaccinations at the arenas and everyone has been eligible for weeks and still all these people are out here screaming about their rights and yanked their masks off the first chance they got and have no intention of getting the vaccine. I think o just saw that we have 30% of our supply just sitting unused. We are looking to move back to a blue state in the near future though. Not that they are perfect but when we visit itâs night and day as far as mask use attitude. Up until last month I worked in a store in a province with an indoor mask mandate (Canada.) I was hired as a clerk, not a public health officer. I am paid as a store clerk, not a public health officer. Yet in trying to enforce a public health order I was yelled at, sworn at, ignored, and threatened. Target employees, or any store employees, CANNOT be expected to force a mask mandate.
Iâm old and donât care, but I saw my teenage and young-20âs coworkersâ minimum wage earners, btwâ reduced to tears by these people. It is not fair to expect them to shoulder the responsibility of enforcing mask mandates.
Oh and my husband works at a store here in town that used to enforce the mask mandate without exception. Someone drove by at night and shot out all the windows along one side. So.

I hear you on everything you’re saying. My friends from Chicago considered coming here for the vaccine when they lifted the residency requirement and the shots were still so hard to get there. But eventually they all ended up getting appointments in either the city or suburbs. You are right that people take mask wearing much more seriously there.
I’ve spent most of my life in Chicago and while I’ve been here in IN full time for over a year, I’ll be heading back to the city probably by Thanksgiving because my window to work remotely is closing. Tbh, Chicago has changed a ton in the past 10 years, it has more than its fair share of MAGAs. In fact, one neighborhood not far from my old house actually voted for Trump. And don’t get me started on the police.

He’s already stated he’s running for re-election and anybody with the common sense god gave paint knows he’s heavily into the back pockets of the right., which is why it surprises me that in the area I live in, masks are being worn and 6 feet protocols are being followed and pretty much everyone in my area has received at least one vaccine.

I live in a blue island in a low population red state. Our governor is mostly worthless full stop and that hasn’t changed during the pandemic. We did finally get a statewide mask mandate but it wasn’t until the ICUs were overflowing across the state this fall (we had one locally starting in June), and that has since been cancelled, although our local one keeps getting extended thankfully. HOWEVER, our vaccine rollout has gone really well. Anyone 16 and up is eligible for a vaccine at this point. My whole family, at least those who are age eligible not the toddler, is fully vaccinated and my entire office is either fully or partially. Unfortunately our state also has the highest vaccine hesitancy which is infuriating. Sometimes I fantasize about moving back to a blue state, but then I remember I have relatives in blue states who refuse to get vaccinated so I don’t know.
This is a win for us, as far as I can see. Maybe she convinces a few trumpers to get the vaccine, which is good for society.

Not all Republican states. My state (Ohio) has a Republican governor. Our vaccine rollout has been aggressive and organized. Not only do we have several mass vaccination sites as well as vaccines available at multiple pharmacies ( and as of two weeks ago anyone 16 & older can get the shot) we have pop up shot locations in areas where the population is historically underserved. He has been very bold in his encouragement that all eligible and able Ohioans get vaccinated. At over 36% of the stateâs population vaccinated we are well ahead of the national average of 23% thank you very much.
Ohio is still very much a swing state. The MSM paints states as either red or blue, most people don’t. The margins that tip states like Ohio one way or the other are often razor thin.
The pop up locations are usually federally pushed by Biden admin, but itâs good to see your governor isnât actively undermining the rollout.

Several of the red states did just fine with the roll out and, infuriatingly enough, managed to open it up to everyone faster than most of the rest of us thanks to their smaller populations. The others just don’t care. It’s just a matter of how much of the general population is going to get it, and I have a feeling the damage is done, so to speak. Not only that it’s politicized but also that biologically, the virus is inevitably going to continue mutating. It’ll be a long time before I see us going back to normal.
The anti-vaxxers are going to screw us where the variants are concerned, and in all likelihood, we’ll see this become another yearly vaccine, which…the health implications are concerning, that’s for certain. Most people who are anti-vaccine are idiots, but there’s no getting around the fact that the more vaccines you receive, the more you increase the risk of a reaction. The benefits usually massively outweigh the risks, but there is just no ability for us to wholly predict every individual response, so you’re bound to see a few serious ones, and that’s a beast that’s going to feed itself where that demographic is concerned.

Yeah that gets me too. That means that 1% of the population will die. The US population alone is at 328.2 MILLION. When you do the math, that’s A LOT of people. But of course math is hard and their red state educational system failed them miserably and they weren’t taught critical thinking skills either. I live in the blue portion of my state, and haven’t been able to find a vaccine appointment within 50 miles for the next 30 days. On a whim, I looked where my aunt and uncle live (deeply red) and could get an appointment next week at a few different locations.
Thatâs partly because they canât get people to sign up for it, so they have a lot of supply, with less demand. In blue states, everyone wants it, so itâs harder to get.
So the question becomes whether or not I make two 300-mile trips to get vaccinated sooner, or do I just squash my vaccine-envy and wait it out. I feel like every person I know has already gotten at least one shot, and Iâm stuck in Covid purgatory.
I live in a purple county in a deep blue state. The vaccine is widely available esp at the big National Guard sites. My county has opened to all adults for almost a month now and we have vaccinated over 90% of our 65+ and close to 40% of 16-64.
If she dropped dead shortly after the injection sheâd get all the attention she wants. *side grin

I live in eastern Washington, right next door to northern Idaho. Even though our state is doing okay, there’s always that threat from the east. I’m so thankful for my vaccine, even though I got sick as a dog after the second one. Absolutely with it, in my opinion, as someone who works in healthcare. Oh, and as to Ivana, in my opinion, she and her family don’t merit attention or opinion. It saddens me so that others worship them, or anything, blindly.
