Chrissy Teigen’s exclusive Target deal is over, but it happened before this week

Personally, I enjoy it when terrible people find themselves in a terrible newscycle because of terrible sh-t they did years ago. Old sins cast long shadows and all that. Chrissy Teigen is marginally talented at only a few things: making an ass out of herself, being a bully and a troll, and being a huge narcissist. This week, Courtney Stodden spoke about how Chrissy Teigen had bullied and harassed them online for years. The harassment even included Teigen DMing Stodden and telling Stodden to “kill yourself.” Chrissy waited 24 hours after the interview came out, probably hoping that she could ignore it and it would go away. Then she gave a sh-tty apology and didn’t bother to respond to Stodden’s claim that Chrissy had NOT reached out privately like Teigen claimed.

All in all, a bad week for Chrissy and she deserved it. Only the sickest minds would DM a teenager and encourage them to kill themselves. Will Chrissy have to “pay” for her years of bullsh-t though? I mean, beyond the “people talking sh-t about her on Twitter” part of it. Well, there is/was something happening with Chrissy’s Target contract but it seems it had nothing to do with the Stodden issue.

Chrissy Teigen’s not only feeling the heat from Courtney Stodden — Target’s also made a big move … one that impacts Chrissy’s bottom line. The retail giant’s website shows her “Cravings by Chrissy Teigen” line of cookware has been wiped out. Target’s move appeared to come as Chrissy was owning up to her past abusive behavior — DMing to suggest Courtney kill themself — issuing an apology on Twitter.

However, Target sources say the line wasn’t just removed from their website this week — we’re told it was yanked last month. It should be noted, Chrissy’s 3 cookbooks are still available on Target’s website.

You’ll recall, Courtney first called out Chrissy back in March, telling us they felt Chrissy is a hypocrite for quitting Twitter over negativity on the platform. Courtney pointed out Chrissy had, years ago, heavily bullied them on Twitter. However, it turns out it’s just coincidental Target dropped Chrissy’s cookware from its website the very next month.

In any event, you can still find those products in other retail outlets — and some Target brick-and-mortar stores still have inventory too.

Update: Sources connected to Chrissy tell TMZ … the break-up with Target was a mutual and amicable decision reached way back in December. We’re told she launched the cookware line exclusively with Target in 2018, but late last year, they decided to end the exclusivity. Now, Chrissy’s hawking her cookware through e-commerce, most notably on her own website … and through several other retailers. All of these business moves were in motion long before Courtney, rightfully, raised their issues with Chrissy’s treatment of them.

[From TMZ]

I didn’t even know that Teigen had a cookware line at Target. Oh well, glad that it’s gone. I bet Target is very pleased that they managed to exit out of Teigen’s contract too, especially if it happened months before the current newscycle. I’m not sure how many current sponsorships and deals Chrissy has going right now, but just a few years ago, she and John Legend were being called a dream celebrity couple for celebrity sponsorships. Chrissy has gotten paid to shill Pampers, Tresemmé, Genesis/Hyundai and more. If I was involved with any kind of corporate decision-making process on sponsors, I would not want anything to do with Chrissy. She’s not radioactive, but she’s already a disaster and who needs it?

Consequences for her shit behavior, finally! I hope this puts her off the map for good. I do not want to hear how she got in therapy, learned from her mistakes and now is a totally new person. In like two weeks.

    • Renee says:

Could not agree more Jules. What kind of person tells someone, let alone a teenager, to kill themselves? She is a mean girl bully without a conscience.

      • RandomPerson says:

What type of person? One who is self-loathing but projects said hate onto another person, regardless of their age. It’s the human condition. Chrissy is not alone. What she would need is therapeutic corrective experiences to work on her issues, not villifying. Hopefully she has gotten some help, for the last thing the world needs is the next generation being parented by unresolved trauma.

      • Brittany says:

Random Person, Chrissy telling a young vulnerable person repeatedly and directly to kill themselves is not something you get to blithely brush off with a vague statement about “it’s the human condition.” No! She could have driven Courtney to suicide! That’s a criminal condition.

My sympathies are with Courtney and also the many other recipients of Chrissy’s venom. I certainly hope Chrissy gets help but she’s not the one who was injured here. I hope COURTNEY and the others get help! I feel extremely sorry for the people in Chrissy’s life and I hope THEY get help.

      • Sam the Pink says:

Can we stop with this “trauma” BS please? Here’s a fact: some people are just awful. They don’t have “trauma”, they’re just nasty pieces of work. Some of them are really good at covering their awfulness or manipulating you into thinking they aren’t that bad. But they still are. And sometimes, the mask slips. Chrissy let her mask slip when she did those things.

She was not “young” – she was 26. When I was 26, I had graduated law school, was a mother of 2, holding down a home and a family. I was not telling exploited teenagers to self harm. And not just in tweets – in direct messages, no less!

Chrissy needs to really look in herself and try to figure out why she is this way. Maybe she needs to get right with God, I don’t know. I do know that nobody owes her a damn thing.

      • Jules says:

@Sam- Yes, there is trauma, and then there is playing the victim and taking advantage of the trauma narrative.

      • BABSORIG says:

And didn’t Christy Tiegen also harass a 6 year old Quvanzhanè Wallis too? And when she got called out she cried and turned into the victim? CT is a dreadful sociopath.

    • AnnaKist says:

I’d never heard of her before joining this site. I don’t pay attention to our Aussie “celebs” either. At first I got the I’m-ression she was well-liked, but all the awful bits started appearing. She’s a dreadful, nasty piece of work. She shouldn’t be rewarded in any way for her despicable behaviour.

    • 2lazy4username says:

what is the consequence? the target thing happened before all of this, and it was a mutual, amicable split, per the article. am i missing something?

      • M says:

There is backlash online with more celebs speaking out against her. The wording on tnis is from CT’s people and makes it seem like it was always the plan. Elsewhere is is reported that both target and Macy’s have pulled deals with her and are making it known in the midst of this weeks drama.

  2. Maria says:

She will never face the consequences she deserves for this.
And John Legend is fine with it.
    Whatever.
At the very least neither of them are going to be able to have open commenting on social media for now, lol.

    • Wiglet Watcher says:

Chrissy never shut hers down and it’s loaded for people calling her out. I don’t think she cares. They’re both ignoring it. But even the Voice insta is getting his with people asking why an enabler of a child predator sits as a judge.

  3. Cecilia says:

1 i wonder how john legend ended up with chrissy because their personalities seem completely different
3 i wonder what chrissy is like to work for because she sounds like a nightmare.

    • tammy says:

It all makes you wonder what he is really like.

    • Seraphina says:

Cecilia, yes indeed. It does make me wonder as well.

    • minx says:

She has a sexiness, and let’s face it, he’s a guy. I also believe she presented herself as a fun person with an often outrageous humor that can be very charming. Unfortunately, with her there’s also another darker side. She can be controlling and pretty vicious.

  4. Lovesitinnm says:

Ollie’s is full of her cookware line. I was wondering how that happened.

  5. BL says:

Chrissy’s apology was a joke and now I can’t help but think John is a total douchebag too…but just hides it better than his wife. Sad face 🙁

  6. Snappyfish says:

Ok. I bought one of her pans as I liked it’s size/price point. It was an over sized cast iron pan. It rusted almost immediately. I thought about returning it but it was so disgusting so fast I felt bad returning it in such condition. It is now used in the tack room. I know she wasn’t part of the manufacturing but she does control what she puts her name on (again I bought it for its size) I was at an event & was introduced to a gentleman who was part of Target’s purchasing department. He said they had the most issues with her stuff & the Victoria Beckham collection when it came to returns based on poor quality.

  7. AmyB says:

Good – consequences for her vile, disgusting behavior. That apology was bullshit and she even had blocked Courtney on Twitter, and didn’t do it privately. I am all for people being able to apologize, and make up for past mistakes; none of us are perfect. But, CT’s behavior is psychologically deranged, sorry. Courtney was not the only victim Chrissy viscously bullied. There were others – Sarah Palin, Lindsay Lohan, Quvenzhane Wallis (9 years old!!), slut shaming Demi Lovato & Mariah Carey (for weight gain) etc. Did any of them get an apology? Again, I may not like some of these individuals, but no one deserves the venom CT spewed their way! And the stuff she said to Courtney Stodden was some of the worst – to go kill themselves!! SICK! WHO SAYS THAT?!

    Good for Target!!

    • Wiglet Watcher says:

Target didn’t do it because of this. They ended paying for exclusivity to sell her pans because it wasn’t worth it to them. Target still sells her other products like cookbooks.

  8. AndaPanda says:

I really don’t understand why she is as popular as she is. But then again, there’s quite a few other people in Hollywood I could say the same thing about. I’m sickened by her old tweets, think she should face consequences, and can’t understand why she doesn’t just go enjoy her life with her family and money quietly. I am on social media but she seems addicted and it seems she has the need to constantly be on there and have validation and attention from strangers.

  9. Seraphina says:

For the life of me, I cannot understand an adult acting this way – even more when you realize she did this to a teenager and a female. I hear about how we women should help one another and raise one another up and she did the opposite. Horrid on every level.
What is even worse is she is raising children and I hope they do not mirror her behavior.

  10. Sam the Pink says:

I never understood the point of her cookware. It is overpriced. Ikea will sell you good cast iron for under 30 bucks, people. She isn’t reinventing the wheel or anything, she’s just selling you pots and pans.

At this point, I would side-eye any company who chooses to do business with her. You know what she is now. She had 10 years to personally apologize to Courtney if she so wished, but did not do so. She only apologized when she was called out publicly. I put a lot more stock in an apology when it is unprompted and comes without strings – this ain’t that.

  11. GGRosebud says:

Thank you Target. Starve this virago out.

  12. K-Peace says:

Her behavior shows that she is an awful, evil person, and those are character traits that don’t go away/change with time. Any grown adult (i think she was nearing 30 years old at the time?) who tells a TEENAGER to kill themself, is a vile, toxic person who deserves to face serious ramifications. She was straight-up EVIL then, so i am sure she’s evil now. It does make me wonder what kind of person John Legend really is.

And what i can’t wrap my head around is: Why did she think she could just blatantly LIE in her statement she put out?? Wasn’t she aware that the truth would come out and then she’d look even WORSE for lying (on top of her evil behavior)?? She said she had contacted Courtney privately, but she actually hadn’t. Didn’t it occur to her that Courtney might issue a response stating that Chrissy had never contacted her? How stupid! All she had to do was simply do what she said she did: Contact Courtney before issuing her apology statement and APOLOGIZE to her! I’m sure she’s desperately scrambling to try to save her “brand” & reputation, so how could she not have covered that base??? Bizarre.

That she didn’t actually contact Courtney, clearly shows that her apology statement was nothing but empty words—just complete bullsh*t. She’s made it clear here, a decade later, that she STILL thinks Courtney is unimportant & far beneath her. She’s a horrible person and i hope she loses all her sponsorships & her whole career over this. I despise bullies. And liars.

    • Otaku fairy says:

You’re right. She not only lied about apologizing to them for the abuse, but had also blocked them from confronting her about what she was doing to them. But luckily Courtney was still able to get the truth out there. After the climate of the past few years in particular, it’s good that so many people free to discuss things like this.

    • Lady D says:

I’m really starting to wonder what kind of person John Legend is too. He comes across as gentle, quiet and unflappable. If he’s really another Chrissy, I’m going to be very disillusioned and it’s probably time to stop trusting my picker.

  13. Calli says:

CT was one my favorite people, I still can’t believe she did that to another human being. Not the mother of sweet little Luna and Miles. How would she feel if someone did that to her son or daughter. She boasted that she had become friends with Meghan because they both had miscarriages. Meghan would never do that to someone. I’ve stopped following her on social media and I’m done with her period.

  14. JHo says:

There is no amount of apologies or behavior change that could convince me an adult woman who told a child to kill herself deserves to be in the public eye and making money from her personality.

  15. Calli says:

  16. Rice says:

I stopped following Chrissy on social media when she became a Kardashian mouthpiece. Now I’m seriously considering unfollowing John Legend as well.

  17. goofpuff says:

There were alot of celebrities who were awful to Stodden (a minor, a 16 year old trafficked to a predator by their own parents and groomed) back in the day. It will be interesting to see how many others will start popping up with their apologies, if even.

    • Lyds says:

I want to see Anderson Cooper’s apology, but CT went above and beyond. She truly hasn’t learned anything and is apparently, despite her love of social media, as dumb as bricks when it comes to public/private apologizes.

Reminds me of the Jess Malroney mess. And both women friends/wanting to be friends with Meghan. I really hope H&M stay far, far away.

    • Otaku fairy says:

Hopefully Courtney Love, Joy Behar, and others don’t think what they did is nbd just because Chrissy was the worst.

  18. Marie55 says:

Not sure if any of you have noticed, but in all of Chrissy’s recent stuff she talks about how her “life purpose” is to make others happy and bring them joy. She’s repeated this a few times. I feel like this is probably something she came up with in therapy and…I’m not sure how helpful a concept it is for her. First, it positions her as some kind of martyr whose sole purpose in life is serving others through…selling pans and cleaning supplies? And posting mildly funny things to twitter? This doesn’t track as authentic for me. Second, I don’t think it’s healthy for her to position her entire life in relation to others. What would the meaning of her life be without her audience? Maybe she wouldn’t be having these issues if she focused on doing the deep self-work that leads to growth not for the perfomativity of it all, but for the genuine wellbeing of herself and her children. This “life purpose” allows her to justify posting all of her “growth” to twitter, which I think only feeds her core issue, which is a deep need for admiration and attention from others in order to make her feel worthy/justify her very existence. It’s like she only exists in the gaze of others. Such a dangerous and unstable place to live from. Anyways, that’s my psychoanalysis for the day lol. I hope her therapist is pushing her on these things and is not just another sycophant hoping for a celeb endorsement.

    • Sam the Pink says:

What BS. Chrissy doesn’t want to make others happy, she wants CREDIT for making other people happy. Big difference. I know people who get genuine joy from helping others. But you know what they don’t want? A big celebration of how awesome they are. The joy is its own reward. If Chrissy enjoys helping people, why not make her business ventures charitable? Donate the profits from her sales to worthy charities? She could become a Paul Newman type, whose businesses were fully non-profit in nature.

And to be clear, I am not saying she is bad for making money. But don’t try to preach that you’re just trying “to bring joy” with all that. You’re trying to make bank, honey. And if you are, more power to you. But when you live by public image, you die by it too, and you’re figuring that out now.

    • RandomPerson says:

I second your “psychoanalysis for the day” lol. This type of behavior stems from a place of early core wounding. My only wish is that her children aren’t inadverdently psychologically hurt by her. Hopefully John is a healthy influence and role model.

      • Wiglet Watcher says:

Kids pick up everything! No way she hides her facial expressions while on her phone. Which she seems to be on always.

  19. Faye G says:

Chrissy needs some serious psychotherapy to deal with her toxic narcissism. How is she parenting her kids with all this venomous hatred running through her veins? How is she managed to land John legend is truly beyond me.

  20. MangoAngelesque says:

When people tell you who they are, BELIEVE THEM.

Chrissy told everyone who she was when she openly bullied Courtney, even if no one saw the DMs. She told everyone who she was when she openly bullied 6-year old Quvanzhanè Wallis. She told everyone who she was when she boasted about how toxic she was in the early days of her relationship with John. She tells about herself again and again, yet people are regularly surprised for some reason.

And the people in her life who keep her close, who encourage and boost her up and on? They’re telling us who they are, too.

  21. Melanie P says:

    This girlfriend,,
    attacked everyone
    she was sooo *jealous* of..

  22. Holly hobby says:

Our target pulled her line last year. I saw her stuff at macys. I thought she pulled the Martha Stewart trick of signing Kmart and then signing macys. There was a lawsuit about that

Not sure if macys still carries her stuff. I own a set of small prep bowls from her line. It serves its purpose.

John legend supported that public defender chesa boudin for da in sf. Chesa doesn’t prosecute anything. Crime is up. For that I can’t support legend.
