Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively donated to charities on the ground in Haiti

Celebrities have been generous this month in the wake of natural disasters and tragedies. From George Clooney helping his Italian neighbors after a devastating flood, to Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan donating to causes benefitting people in Haiti and Afghanistan. If these acts of service don’t warm your heart, then perhaps Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively’s donation to charities on the ground in Haiti after the 7.2 earthquake last week, will. Ryan and Blake donated $10,000 each to four different charities according to their spokesperson, who spoke to E! Online. Hope for Haiti thanked them in a tweet posted earlier this week. Below are a few more details from E!:

Hope for Haiti, an organization dedicated to providing support and partnership for the people of Haiti for over 30 years, publicly thanked the pair for their donation through their official social media accounts on Tuesday, Aug. 24.

“Our entire organization would like to thank @vancityreynolds and @blakelively for their generous donation to our #HaitiEarthquake Response & Recovery efforts,” the organization wrote on Twitter. “This donation will help empower our team to continue to respond in the hardest-hit areas of southern Haiti in the days and weeks to come.”

Blake and Ryan’s donation will be used to set up mobile clinics in the communities where there’s the most need, as determined by the Ministry of Health, according to TMZ. The donation will also reportedly help cover food delivery distribution costs from World Central Kitchen

[From E! News]

I am loving how so many celebrities are using their influence and their checkbooks to help out in the time of need. It has felt like the month of August has been a month of disaster, sort of like January 2020.

Haiti itself has had a bad summer, from the execution of its President to the earthquake and tropical storm. It is like the people of Haiti can’t catch a break. So it really did warm my heart to see that Ryan and Blake donated so much money. I love Ryan and Blake and their relationship. I also like the fact that they chose organizations that are actually on the ground in Haiti. I am glad that part of their money is going towards building clinics as well as to World Central Kitchen to make sure folks are being fed while they pick up the pieces of their lives. I hope that we continue to hear stories about people doing these wonderful deeds because they are a light in this seemingly dark time.

As for Ryan and Blake, these two previously gave 1.4 million to food banks and hospitals at the beginning of the pandemic and $200k to the NAACP during the BLM movement last summer, around the time they apologized for their wedding venue. I look forward to seeing their future humanitarian efforts. Hopefully, they will inspire others to do the same.

Lovely of them to do that. Haiti is going through so much this year 😥

Didn’t know they apologized for the wedding on the plantation. Good on their part. Good that they donated to all these organizations. I’m actually interested if there’s really a pic in donations after a celebrity publicize it.

  3. Yup, Me says:

    Good – they should donate

Also, though, this is absolutely a continuation of their apology tour. That’s why we know about the donation rather than them just doing it. That’s why they took that pic recently with Ryan wearing that Flag T-shirt that says “Losers – 1865. Losers – 1945. Losers – 2020.”

They’re trying not to catch blowback and cancelation.

But remember- It wasn’t just their choice to get married at an American torture and death camp. It was Blake’s business that celebrated the Antebellum South and it was her “LA face with an Oakland booty” tweet. Blake Lively has repeatedly been in some white nonsense over the years. Her white womanhood and fashion thing have shielded her A LOT, so it’s going to take a whole whole lot for me to hear about something she does and greet it with anything more than a “Good. That’s what she should do. What else?”

Let me add she talks about child pornography, which is definitely a matter that needs to be in the news and that people need to fight, yet she worked with Allen.
I don’t get why she managed to slip away with her collaboration with Allen, while other actresses, like Cate Blanchett or Scarlett Johansson or Kate Winslet, just to name a few, keep being blamed for that.
Either we blame any actress who worked with him or none of them.

    • BeanieBean says:

We know about the donation because, at least with this particular charity, the charity posted a public thank you, it wasn’t Blake & Ryan.

    They are so fake.

    • Lee says:

Yep, also overrated and try hard.

      • Sigmund says:

Their money spends just as well as anyone else’s though. I don’t really care why they’re donating as long as the groups are getting the money.

I love that you used the photo where she drew on her own sandals, pahahaha

  6. March says:

This CB post feels paid for by Blake Lively & Ryan Reynolds 😂

  7. Southern Fried says:

I’m okay with their trying to do better, learning from their mistakes. And they certainly are with their recent donations. Some may call it throwing money to cover their sins but I prefer to be positive with these two.

I agree – yeah, she / they have screwed up in the past but regardless whether we want to be grumpy and think the worst that this is all for PR and remediating their image, if their PR strategy means those in need are getting funding and help and/or critical issues are getting more awareness… who cares? I hope they keep it up.

I don’t know much about Blake. But I’ve seen some interviews Ryan has done with people younger than him, starting their careers, and he did such a good job of making them feel comfortable, getting past the interviewer’s nerves. And he recently started talking about his anxiety and panic attacks, at a time when people are really struggling with mental health. Seems like a decent guy to me and donations are awesome.

Seeing that they’re both multi-millionaires, I think they could have given more than $10,000 to Haiti. Yes, it’s good they donated, but it would have been better to donate more, like $100,000 at least? I also believe this is part of their apology tour for their plantation wedding which, let’s face it, nobody will really ever forgive or forget (providing anybody knows who they are, which is also a truism).
