I am glad more are seeing the ugly truth of @Oprah. I wish she were real, but she isn’t. From being pals with Weinstein to abandoning & destroying Russell Simmon’s victims, she is about supporting a sick power structure for personal gain, she is as fake as they come. #lizard pic.twitter.com/RCuXNpWCU0
— Rose 🌊McGowan (@rosemcgowan) August 29, 2021
She’s right that Oprah is a fake who has made gurus out of the dangerous and questionable, but I’m NOT here for her QAnon dog whistle tag. That is not accidental.
Glad you pointed out the hashtag.
For anyone who might not know, Rose is absolutely giving a shout out to some of the worst and most ludicrous conspiracy theories. You can agree/disagree with her about Oprah, but be very wary before jumping on her bandwagon. She is flirting with QAnon and other angry and dangerous cultists.
Tell me more about what #lizard is all about (I don’t want to google it, for fear of what I’ll find).
@ Beenie, yes, Oprah is a flawed human being, just as much as McGowen is, but her calling out Oprah as fake isn’t something I would applaud. Those who label others quickly as McGowen has done in the past, doesn’t hold up well when we take into consideration the sole purpose as to why McGowen is doing so. McGowen is allowed her personal opinion, but a majority of Hollywood is fake. I don’t know why Oprah is any more fake than anyone else in Hollywood, if you want to start calling people out on their BS.
Aphra
The lizard reference is a qanon conspiracy theory. Supposedly the rich and powerful like Oprah are “lizard people” and they control everything. However, she may not be full lizard. She could also be part lizard as a type of humanoid hybrid of lizard and human masquerading as human.
Yup. Rose is pouring over those chat rooms with tinfoil wallpaper.
@Wiglet Watcher. Thank you for explaining the lizard thing. I didn’t know what it meant either. So…basically there are people that believe we’re living in a version of the 1983 mini series “V”?
@WigletWatcher ` THANK YOU….I was scared to look it up also. Dear god, that is some scary stuff
Lizard people theory is truly dangerous. It’s an old ConSpiritual thing I 1st heard about in the sweat lodge/ yoga hippy days of the late 1990s.
It’s a premise that alien lizards pose as humans in high places & low; ie, government officials/celebrities on down to us plebs.
Cult parents recently de-humanized their own two teens as “lizard People”, and well, their bodies were found in shallow graves.
I loathed this theory then, and I see it as highly concerning now. Only “special” ppl can “see” lizard people, making it impervious to criticism. UGH
Lizard alien people? Stupidity really knows no bounds.
Mother Jones has an article about how Oprah enabled the anti-vaxx movement. Vox and the Wall Street Journal have covered it as well.
Wallstreet Journal is a Rupert Murdoch Rag.
The Mother Jones article you are referring to is from 2018. is rose McGowan going after half of Hollywood because half of Hollywood worked with HW. Is she implying that Oprah knew he and Russell Simmons were predators? As for Dr. Phil and Dr Oz people continue to follow and watch them regardless of how problematic they have been so I don’t know how this is Oprah’s fault. I want examples of how Oprah is “fake”? What did she do that she is fake? I’m not a Stan but these are the kind of dog whistles that racists use against successful black women. rose McGowan has shown in the past years that she is an attention seeking troll.
Some great episodes of the Maintenance Phase podcast about this as well, particularly the John of God episode.
@ BlueSky, thank you!!! I agree!! How would Oprah now WTF Simmons or HW were doing! Plus, she can’t tell what Dr. Oz and Dr. Phil should do on their shows, which I am certain that they have iron clad contracts as to how they can curtail their own shows. Dr. Phil is a POS, but not that I would give him the time of day.
@ Cava24, that Mother Jones article was written in 2018 based on an interview with McCarthy in 2007. Oprahs personal opinion may lean towards vaccines causing autism, but Winfrey did read a brief statement from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “which said there was no scientific evidence of a connection and that scientists were continuing to study the causes of autism. “It is important to remember, vaccines protect and save lives. Vaccines protect infants, children and adults from the unnecessary harm and premature death caused by vaccine-preventable diseases,” the CDC statement concluded.
But if there are mother’s out there who are listening to people like McCarthy or Oprah for the medical decisions for their children, they are listening to the wrong people!!
@BothSidesNow I think people just mean that Dr. Phil and Dr. Oz would never had gotten their own tv shows in the first place if Oprah hadn’t brought so much attention to them.
But tbh, if it wasn’t them, I’m sure some other sleazebags would have come along and filled the same sort of roles on daytime tv as those two do, so.
Vox is a corporate entity invested in by NBC and Comcast and others.
Oprah essentially legitimized the anti-vaxx movement when she did the show with Jenny McCarthy. Harpo was, as of end of 2019, producing a show with Jenny McCarthy. Real damage has been done by legitimizing that movement, even before Covid. And then there’s all the “financial experts” who went on her show during the housing boom and told people to leverage themselves as much as possible to get a foothold in the (overheated) market.
@CAV Oprah was not the only person who gave Jenny McCarthy a platform. She was also on different talk shows including Larry King and was also on the View. Why is just one person that is being singled out here?
I’m not surprised about the Jenny McCarthy thing. I had a dislike for Oprah for a long time because I felt like she catered to an anti-intellectual mini van majority. It’s just business, sure, but actually has some repercussions. She won me back though with her endorsement of Obama. I was a huge Hillary supporter, but she made a statement to white America with that endorsement, and I really do think she swung the vote from Hillary to Obama (even as a Hillary supporter, I respected the choice she made). I don’t pay close attention but I think she’s been doing better recently. I’ve even read some of her book club choices that were solid literature, not the fodder for Lifetime adaptations in her early book club days.
Jenny McCarthy was the Big Get of that time and she would only agree to interviews that didn’t challenge her views. This was all known at the time.
Oprah did address the pros of vaccines in a way that didn’t step on Jenny’s toes contractually.
@Cava24-You said,
“Harpo was, as of end of 2019, producing a show with Jenny McCarthy.”
I believe you meant to type 2009. The Oprah/Jenny relationship ended in 2011. Jenny produced a show with NBC due to Oprah’s low ratings at that time.
https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/exclusive-jenny-mccarthy-dumps-oprah-winfreys-struggling-network-for-nbc
Oprah legitimized Dr. Phil & Dr. Oz. They are both dangerous quacks. She always needed to one up any story she reported on. I don’t know how many times I heard her say “let me tell you what happened to me”. The definitive for me was how Michelle Obama always kept Oprah, who was a huge fan of Barack’s at arm’s length. If MO thinks you are shady, girl you ARE SHADY
@Snappyfish, Arm’s length? Always?
https://www.usatoday.com/story/life/books/2018/11/12/oprah-winfrey-picks-michelle-obamas-memoir-becoming-book-club/1975703002/
Edward Klein’s The Amateur put those stories out there. NYT has a pretty entertaining review of that book.
Oprah does a questionable show and her main and only concern seems to be her income. Journalism should be about truthful reporting and sadly lots of media people divert from that concept rather generously.
@Kiddy what show are you referring to and why is it questionable?
Yeah, and calling her one of the lizard people? It’s dehumanising and no one but especially Black people in USA need that! Rose needs some help and I don’t say that lightly or as an insult. I see a psychiatrist and having such a large reach as she has requires a little more self awareness or they are dangerous.
This wouldn’t be Rose’s first dalliance with racism, so I’m not surprised.
Rose has more smoke for all these other women in Hollywood than she does for her actual rapist.
Her lizard tag conspiracy theory fits right in for someone raised in a cult who needs therapy.
I agree. I’m not a doctor, but she does not sound well.
@WigletWatcher- that tracks. Oprah did not care about the harm caused by having an anti-vax person on her show, she wanted the big “get”. And after that show got attention, McCarthy was booked on other shows and had a wider audience. All Oprah cared about was the ratings. To whoever asked why we are only mentioning Oprah in terms of giving McCarthy a platform – 1) we are literally talking about Oprah, 2) she legitimized the anti-vax stance in a way that no one else had the platform to do and 3) she often pushed doctors, treatments etc on her show and people trusted her. They public did not have the same relationship with Larry King, it wasn’t nearly as personal. Oprah positioned herself as someone who was taking care of others and looking out for them in a personal way- she gave away cars, she did tons of makeovers, etc. People trusted her to have a filter.
Oprah is a complicated figure, and I have complicated feelings about her. On the one hand, she managed to single-handedly work her way up from unimaginably disadvantaged conditions to not only succeed but dominate an entire media industry … and she did it as a woman of color in a body that wasn’t conventionally considered attractive. (Although, TBH, I think she’s beautiful and always have.) I have unbounded respect for her for that.
I also think her lifelong concern for victims of sexual abuse is genuine. She talked about it publicly decades ago when nobody else would, and by doing so she (again, single-handedly) changed the worldwide conversation. As just one recent example, I thought her conversation with Michael Jackson’s victims, aired after the documentary, was exceptionally clear-eyed and well-done.
And yet …
On the other hand, she is single-handedly (!) responsible for elevating charlatans like “Dr” Phil and Dr Oz, who have become arbiters of mental health and woo-woo health, respectively, for enormous numbers of gullible, hurting, and desperate people in our population. By the time she did that, she knew better (or should have) and, given her platform and influence, she had a responsibility to do better. I do fault her for that and for the consequential ripple effect of misinformation that followed it. (Including but not limited to tacitly supporting the anti-vaxx movement early on.)
As for Rose, oh Rose. She is so clearly hurting, she is so clearly furious, and I believe that she has every reason to be both and more. But unleashing that fury on any woman who ever crossed Harvey Weinstein’s path and didn’t immediately condemn him is not the way to resolve it. I truly hope she is able to retreat, breathe, reorient herself and find the help and the peace she needs. Perhaps then she can contribute to or even change the discourse in a meaningful way.
@Lionel, yours is the most balanced perspective I’ve seen.
Methinks the slur user’s initials are CP…?
whose name rhymes with Crisp Rat?
Think more Gnarly Tooth.
Are we talking about the pop star? I get the crisp rat but gnarly tooth has me stumped Not . Da Baby right?
Lol they mean literally rhymes with gnarly tooth, initials CP. I think he has a fair amount of gay fans?
I have no clue what any of you are talking about. I’m sure I’m not the only one either. Care to enlighten us?
Lol, not Da Baby, I don’t think. At least not in this particular case. There’s a hint within the blind item, the “we don’t talk anymore” thing. It’s the title of one of his songs.
I think maybe this is a reference to Charlie Puth? Google isn’t giving me any links I’m willing to click on, but I vaguely remember something about him being problematic?
I assume they’re referring to Charlie Puth, not that I know anything about him other than his name.
Rose felt the need for some attention
I thought that was Lindsey Lohan at first.
I just plain old do not like Oprah.
Or Dr. Phil. Phil has as much credibility as my Uncle Mike. Uncle Mike lives to tell everyone what to do, and how to behave but Uncle Mike will sh*t talk all day long for free.
And, IMO, Dr. Oz is a big, big sell out. He actually has medical training, is a proper Dr., who used to be fairly well thought of for his skills.
Now? Dr. Oz will say or endorse anything for money.
Have a great start to Fall everyone. 🙂
+1
Oprah also was into Dr. Christine Northrup, she was on her show many times. Northrup is now BIG into conspiracy and anti-vax crap, has a lot of followers.
IIRC, even Northrup’s daughter is embarrassed by her mom’s beliefs.
I find Dr Phil entertaining. I especially like when he does old lady catfishes. I don’t take him seriously. I think people go to him because they are desperate and they know he does his homework and offers resources and follow up and they don’t have that so they resort to whoring themselves out to get what they need. I feel bad for poor Robin because she’s got to sit through every show he does because that’s her thing.
Dr Phil is imo exploitative garbage. He sent troubled kids like that one girl who got famous for saying “cash me outside” to an abusive work camp where sexual assault and regular assault was RAMPANT. He’s not a good person!
I disagree with everything Rose usually says, but I agree with her – Oprah is a BIG fake. It is interesting she managed to escape the Harvey Weinstein and John of God situations blemish free. Oprah literally on her show sided against the people saying that Central Park Five were railroaded because of their race, then turned around when it became fashionable to support them co-produced ‘When they See Us’. Even interviewing those men, knowing full well years before she had the victim on the show calling “those boys guilty” (almost verbatim her statement) and Oprah said she didn’t understand why she (the victim) wasn’t more angry. In fact, she peddled the prosecuting attorney’s book on her book club list. And, she put Dr. Phil and Dr, Oz out in the mainstream.
I knew something was fishy around Oprah when she started to feature someone I know on her Super Soul Sunday. This person’s whole story is made up. She’s always wanted to be famous and she has a pretty face, so she invented a whole past life for herself and then “re-invented” herself as a wellness guru. I feel sorry for the vulnerable women who buy into her BS.
OMG I want to know who this is!
I have never thought to erase my old life and make up a new one.
You mean Goop?
@Startupspouse – Gabby Bernstein?
Yes I never liked her as well because its been too many stories how she has backstabbed people and supported the shady. Thats why I did not dismissed Monique’s accusations regarding Oprah and the type of person she is.
The more successful you are the more people will come out to say you are only so successful because you screwed them over along the way. That’s a fact. And many people do feel because they are in close proximity to someone successful that they are entitled to more of their success.
Your climb to the top you’ll always make more enemies than friends. Higher you climb, more enemies you make. And you could be the best person ever, but feelings will get hurt and people will not distinguish business from personal attacks.
So, Oprah being successful puts a target on her back. Being black highlights it. Especially for qanon conspiracy theorist like rose.
Wrong spot. Meant for TheHorror above.
@Wiglet — I’m not sure why your comment was meant for me. Nothing you said in your response negates anything I said. I didn’t say anything about hurt feelings versus personal attacks. I showed examples of Oprah being disingenuous, i.e. fake and phony. I don’t care for Rose either, I think she’s racist based on things she has said in the past. I can believe two things at once, Rose seems like an awful person, and Oprah (definitely this current version) seems like a big fake.
@TheHorrorFatale, The Oprah interview with the victim wasn’t on the show. It was in the O magazine April 2002 edition, before Matias Reyes confessed in May 2002 and the December 2002 convictions against the CP5 were vacated. Oprah did say she would be more angry, she didn’t say ‘those boys guilty’ as you said, according to the the interview I read. She did ask the victim how she felt about people making it out to be a racial confrontation. We, the general public, didn’t find out who the victim was until April 2003 when the book she wrote came out. What book of the prosecuting attorney was on the book club list?
https://www.oprah.com/book/hell-gate-by-linda-fairstein
Fairstein wrote a series of crime novels or something.
And, you are correct it was an interview was in O that I went back and re-read. I really thought the guy confessed a year earlier, hence Cory Wise finally being released. Did you watch her interview with the men after the Netflix movie? I did not, did she mention anything about being wrong to them in her original assessment? I still feel like her recent involvement in producing the film and interviewing them was for Emmy chasing and pats on back.
I’m going to say this and be done with all it. As a little black girl growing up I was (and still to a certain extent) really proud of Oprah coming from nowhere and becoming the historic icon that she became. However, this Oprah of late seems disingenuous, removed from reality and now is only trying to stay relevant, for people to applaud how great she it. Maybe she always was that way, but I think since her platform is so huge, maybe her team should be vetting these people she hypes up better – instead of worrying about what’s in it for her.
I’ll split the difference with you on the Fairstein book. The O mag reviewed it but it didn’t make the book club list. No, I didn’t watch her interview with them or the series yet-if it’s still available. PBS did a documentary in 2012 that I watched.
The #1 people wrong in the situation were the police, prosecutors, jury and media. And, the back then real estate mogul who spent $85k on ads. The court of public opinion was against them too. For the most part. An early ’90s criminal justice class instructor I had found the whole case problematic. At the time of Oprah’s interview with Trisha, she was probably seeing things on her side through the lens of being a victim-though she wasn’t completely easy on Trisha. If you read the interview you know the parts I’m talking about.
I’ll admire Oprah for a lot of things. She works hard and defied people that told her she wasn’t good enough or pretty enough to succeed. It’s pretty clear she’s not an anti vaxxer since people have to quarantine as a guest at her place-so people tying her now to Jenny McCarthy’s stance is wrong. I wasn’t a devout viewer of the show-busy working full time and other life stuff. Like the magazine though. I’m old enough to remember how the media liked to play Oprah & Donahue (who btw was also controversial and had controversial people on his show) against each other. Donahue wrote the piece about Oprah for Time’s 100. No one has to like her. It’s hard to understand when it seems based on misinformation or DISSinformation.imo
I appreciate the honest conversation.
Sidebar but I still can’t get over the fact that Oprah put HERSELF on her magazine cover every month. The ego is real.
I thought that was kind of cool at the time — a “regular” woman, non-cover-girl, who was older, Black and not-skinny — was sort of revolutionary. Is it “ego” to have yourself front and centre on a talk show every day, vs the cover of a monthly magazine?
I think the concept was great—but she could have also featured other women who did not conform to the idea of western beauty. It was just self promotion.
I agree with Lory,
She could find other people besides herself filling that gap in the industry
Its HER magazine. She can do whatever tf she wants and put whoever she wants on the cover. I wouldn’t let anyone random tell me how to run my business either
Exactly, she’s the one who’s taking the chance that the public would grow tired of the same individual on the cover, or feel like it’s redundant. Her risk, her choice.
For sure she can do whatever she want’s but I don’t think thats the discussion here. The discussion is wether or not it looks ego. Obviously for some people it does, or for people like you it’s totally fine.
Maybe you should apply your life mantra “she can do whatever she want’s” to the commenter above as well.
@Lory,so what. She owns the magazine, she’s not the first to do it and won’t be the last. Billionaires do billionaire things. It’s not like she’s launching herself into space on a penis-shaped rocket in a bid to get a NASA contract.
Did you have a problem when Rachel Ray did it or Martha Stewart? Is it just a problem when the Black woman does it?
@Mel. That’s kind of how I feel
Honestly, it’s probably good for magazine sales that she’s on the cover. People are buying it because it is her product. It’s not meant to be InStyle or something.
I remember when the magazine first came out they said she was on the cover because at the time anything with her on the cover sold like crazy, so why shouldnt she capitalize on that with own magazine. I don’t know about now though, whether it’s based on ego or market research and if mixing it up would make sense.
This comment reminds me of how this white woman at my job is constantly triggered by me just doing my thing and living my life how I want. I can tell I drive her nuts and I revel in every moment of her discomfort.
There’s a reason she did/does that. It was stated at the time she would always be on the cover of her magazine because black women, certainly then, rarely appeared on mainstream magazine covers, especially by themselves. Also because of who she is, her magazine was part of the Oprah brand, who else would be more suitable on the cover. In short it was good for business and still is, which is why it still sells.
This is the THIRD time I’ve tried to post this!
Martha Stewart had herself on the cover of her magazine for decades. She’s Oprah – the magazine is named after her. She’s a cultural powerhouse – I would expect some ego and I respect the heck out of her for what she’s accomplished. She couldn’t have done what she did without some hustle and some ego.
@ Mcmmom, I agree!! Martha does it, Oprah can do it as well. Oprah is self made 100%, but Martha is not. I am not going to bust the balls of a black woman who came from nothing in the south and built her empire from nothing. I applaud ALL women who came from nothing and grew from the ashes into millionaires and billionaires, unlike and Katrtra$hian spawn.
Exactly Bothsidesnow – the Oprah controversy is a wee bit too close to calling her uppity.
I agree. That hatred for a black woman owning her power is real. Oprah isn’t perfect but she has been taking a stand for sexual abuse victims for a long time. She does a lot of good with her money and Rose is a Q anon conspiracy believer full of hate for everyone. Yeah she’s had it rough, but she is on Fox News for a reason.
I just found out recently Rose McGowan was raised in the Children of God cult. She never stood a chance. I feel sorry for her but hey, most of Hollywood is fake.
Ok makes more sense now.
There is a wonderfully thoughtful and compassionate comment over on DListed about Rose–essentially saying that Rose has been so hurt/damaged by Weinstein, and her upbringing, that she is a firehose of rage pointing in all directions, variously right on target, smart, and then also so far out there she alienates people and turns people off. She’s essentially used now on various media for her cray cray factor.
Qanon gonna Qanon.
Rose is so thirsty. She’s just spouting off because she knows she’ll get some attention. Next week, it’ll be someone/something else.
So exhausting.
Many of these anti Oprah comments read like organized trolls trying to stir shit up.
Yes, it does. My suspicious mind wonders if the Emmy Awards in a couple of weeks has anything to do with it. Very random.
Taking down successful black women is the favorite sport among white people who don’t think black peoples should have nice things or fame. It’s why they’ve rushed in here to blame Oprah for the things other famous white peoples were doing before they came on her show. Celebitchy posters are not immune to it.
Haylie – I agree.
I am a white woman and I’m getting tired of white women. Seriously – check yourself before you start spouting off about a successful Black woman. Oprah, Michelle Obama, Condoleeza Rice (and don’t come at me about Condi – I am a Democrat and that woman gets nothing but respect from me. She’s brilliant and good Lord, the ceilings she shattered) – all have essentially been criticized for daring to be smart, successful and proud.
I live in TX, so I’m salty this morning – but take a seat, white women. Oprah owns her genre and her power and she can put herself on the cover of the Empire State Building if she wants. She’s earned and – wait, doesn’t the Pioneer Woman put herself on her covers, too? Seriously – take a seat. Oprah can do whatever the hell she wants.
Yeah. I was reading these commens like “whaaaa??” Why tf shouldn’t she be on her magazine? Just say uppity and get it out of your system.
Also the conclusion that Oprah is Anti-Vax is a serious leap. She had Jenny McCarthy on her show, a show during which Oprah legit read verbatim a rebuttal from the CDC. Oprah has constantly been urging people to get the Covid vaccine, went on Ellen a few years bag to urge people to get flu shots, but now she is Anti-Vax over the Jenny McCarthy interview and because she had Northrup on who later became a prominent Anti-Vaxxer? Ok then.
I can’t believe people are actually taking this Qanon bait to try to pile on Oprah.
lol, another conspiracy. You can’t help yourself, can you? Try to wrap your head around the fact that people have legitimate reasons for not liking Oprah.
This is all so random. McGowan pops up and goes off, and one is left scratching one’s head. Oprah? When have they actually ever interacted ? McGowan is a person who continually gets in her own way. She has an enormous platform that had so much potential but chooses to use it only for herself and to settle scores.
Right. It’s not as if Oprah had never come out and spoke out against Weinstein.
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-news/oprah-winfrey-calls-harvey-weinstein-scandal-a-watershed-moment-1049932/
Winfrey originally addressed the Weinstein scandal in a statement posted on her Facebook page. The statement reads:
“I’ve been processing the accounts of Harvey Weinstein’s hideous behavior and haven’t been able to find the words to articulate the magnitude of the situation. Filmmaker James Schamus captured so much of what I’ve been feeling when he said:
“This is the story of one predator and his many victims; but it is also a story about an overwhelming systemic enabling, and until that story is fully told we will fall far short of stopping future depredations on a similar scale. Thanks to the brave voices we’ve heard this week, many more will now be emboldened to come forward EVERY time this happens. I believe a shift is coming.”
Rose McGowan is a low-key alt-right troll. People just don’t realize it because she tried to position herself as the head of the “Me Too” movement. She is problematic AF. She is peak white feminism. TERF-lord supreme.
Oprah pulled out of the Russell Simmons victim doc in order to stay friends with him even though she knew he is guilty .
Show the proof.
Show it wasn’t a creative difference. Show she actively defends and collaborates still with Russell Simmons. Show she tried to change and silence his victims. Show anything.
I’m looking for proof because if that’s true it should come out.
Let’s just say that I’ve spent a lot of time with one of them in the past five years.
@Silver — being coy doesn’t equal proof.
gossip is called gossip because there is usually no proof, just speculation, rumors, and blinds.
If we’re going vague I spent a lot of time at a friends wedding with one of Oprah’s producers and she said only the best stuff about Oprah. Which is interesting because too often former employees are critical of their old and more successful employees.
Rose has just as much of an ego as Oprah does, and she’s just as fake. Rose is an opportunistic who only cares about perceived slights against HER, not against anyone else. I really think she’s kind of delusional and very narcissistic.
Rose is someone who’s hurting and is finding unhealthy ways to cope. People to blame and hurt. Conspiracy theories to justify her victim mentality. It’s horrible the pain she has suffered, but worse that she clings to these beliefs as a way to distract and not heal from her trauma. She’s fallen down the qanon pit too. Rose is a Fox News face here and there. I swear until we call her flat out MAGA we will still say “she’s got a point… that black lady on tv is fake.”
At some point though Rose needs to get help, though. The rage, pain eats you alive until there’s nothing left.
That Norman Reedus article last week caused me to have an erotic dream about him and woke me up with a start at 5:30am. I’m more of a Jeffrey Dean Morgan girl so it was a little unsettling.
Every entertainer is fake LOL.
This lol. It doesn’t matter gender, race, how you identify. It’s Hollywood, based on money, greed and superficiality.
Oprah is by no means perfect and I have a few problems with the mindset she leads people to have , that being said… Rose McGowan is a mess. She needs help, not attention from the media. Every time she is alone with her thoughts she reaches out to swipe at people I feel sorry for her but I also believe a lot of her career issues are of her own doing. Maybe she should focus on that and her mental health instead of doing this.
Rose is MAGA QANON. Let’s stop making excuses for her.
Oprah has made problematic picks and choices in the past but they are out there for ppl to agree or disagree with. She’s not pretending to be something she’s not. She’s a talk show/documentary host and magazine owner who picks people who are current, who she finds interesting, and she puts them in the spotlight. Some of her picks have been bad, others really good. I think of Oprah like I think of the editor in chief of a good newspaper of record: it’s not God’s law, it’s just what someone with power chose to feature bc it’s topical. I use my literacy and judgment to decide if I will read more from any of Oprah’s “experts” or not, i am fine w that and don’t demonize her or lionize her.
I think she used to take a firmer stance, though. When she had white supremacists on her show in the 80s, she was clear about her position and her intentions. Now she seems to avoid challenging or questioning even the most outrageous of guests.
There is nothing fake about Oprah’s skill as an interviewer. I remember many many years ago when I was desperately looking for the remote when her old talk show came on (simply because I don’t like talk shows), I stopped and actually listened as she was out in the audience talking. This woman was not the usual cringey talk show host. She had a brain and was using it, and she was articulate.
I’ve seen her in a dramatic series that she produced (I think, or was somehow involved) and was surprised to see that she is also a decent actor.
Rose McGowan, on the other hand, is problematic to the max. She has had many rough times, but so have a lot of people. She is in no state of mind to be take seriously about much at all.
Color me shocked that Rose is coming for a black woman. Rose is garbage.
Why are we blaming Oprah for HW? As for Russell Simmons – disagreeing with filmmakers is not the same thing as siding with Russell. She came out and clearly said she thinks Russell us a predator and she believes the women.
You don’t have to live Oprah or even like her. But women are not responsible for men’s behavior.
Rose is a terrible human being. I’ll just leave it at that.
I just can’t get past the “lizard people” thing. It’s like they couldn’t have made it sound crazier or more ridiculous if they tried.
Oh Rose🙈she’s digging herself a hole there by continuing to push out these conspiracy theories. I mean you could litterly find several similar pictures of her with Harvey on Google!!! She’s clearly desperate for attention and never got the comeback she was hoping for during the hight metoo movement.
She needs to be careful because what she’s doing can be grounds for a a lawsuit
Haha, Ill never forget the first time I googled the lizard thing and realized people weren’t using it as a euphemism but were talking about actual lizards lol… David Icke I think i remember? Some people are just nuts
