Kanye West’s Donda hit #1 on Billboard’s charts in its first week. That means that Kanye has had ten albums debut at #1. Donda is, by the numbers, surpassing Olivia Rodrigo’s Sour, which had been the biggest album of the year so far. The album has “775 global streams, with more than 442 million on Spotify and 242 million on Apple Music worldwide.” I’m surprised the numbers are so good, but I will say this – Kanye did figure out a way to promote the hell out of this album. It’s not just the multi-city “listening parties” either. Gossip about Kanye blanketed the media, especially with Kim Kardashian attending all of his events, and too much time and energy was devoted to whether or not they were getting back together.
Kanye also provided his own tea by confessing to cheating on Kim in the lyrics of Donda. Which just highlighted how bad their marriage was for years, and how they weren’t even together that much since 2016, which is probably when Kanye began banging groupies constantly. Now “insiders” are talking about all of that with People Magazine:
Kanye West appears to be well aware of mistakes he made in his marriage to Kim Kardashian West. The rapper, 44, seemed to suggest he’d been unfaithful in the lyrics to his new song “Hurricane” — and, according to a source close to him, he feels remorseful about the pain caused his estranged wife.
“There were things that happened in their marriage that Kanye regrets. He wasn’t always the best husband,” the source tells PEOPLE. “He knows that he hurt Kim. He will always love her though.”
Though an insider told PEOPLE last week that Kardashian West has no plans to call off the split despite a slew of public appearances in support of West’s new album Donda, the source says that West still wears his wedding ring “occasionally.”
“Sometimes it seems that he hopes Kim will change her mind about the divorce,” the source says.
Yeah, I’m pretty sure all of the speculation about a possible reconciliation is nothing more than album promotion. While Kanye probably has regrets about his behavior during his marriage, I also think all of this with Kim is one big stunt.
Speaking of stunts, did everyone see that Drake is still trying to troll Kanye by including a Kim look-alike in some promotional stuff for his album? I guess Drake wants us to believe in the conspiracy that he and Kim hooked up at some point, years ago.

While I feel like the numbers are going to drop once everyone gets their curiosity sated, it’s still frustrating to see this jackass and by extension, his grifter wife get rewarded once again for all the stunting.
Gross.
Proof that Americans have really bad taste in music and they will throw their money at anything.
More proof that cancel culture isn’t real. FFS.
This! Mr. MAGA “slavery was choice” 🙄Everyone is so willing to give him a pass. I’m so sick of him and his wife
Bull. I’ll bet Kanye bought all the copies that sold.
I thought it was hilarious that Drake immediately dropped his new album, trying to step on Kanye’s numbers (which could be faked).
Drake announced his release date before Kanye. Kanye was trying to go head to head with Drake, so he never said when he was releasing it. Universal dropped Donda almost a week before. Drake out-streamed him anyways, so all for naught.
My teenagers are playing it nonstop. Lord help me. I have extremely eclectic taste in music but the vapid bullshit on this album is almost worse than country western.
People’s source=Kris and Kim. Once again, Kris finds a way to make her daughter out to be the victim, giving her credit that she doesn’t deserve. Kayne is remorseful? Where is Kim’s remorse? Ever since Kris and Kim planted the “Kanye cheated on Kim” narrative, the press completely stopped talking about how in that very same album, Kayne exposes that Kim cheated on him.
The speculation about Kim and Kayne wasn’t done to promote the album. It was about Kris and her daughters using Kayne’s mental illness and album to promote themselves.
I was wondering how long before Kris would try to ride the wave of Drake’s album by planting stories about how Drake is obsessing about her daughter. Which explains why “sources”(Kim and Kris) are now pushing the narrative that it’s Kayne who wants to get back with Kim, just like “sources”(Kris and Kim) leaked that Kim had many men pursuing her and that Kim did really well on her first baby bar exam even though she scored a considerable amount of points below the passing grade.
Can the streaming numbers really be trusted? What percentage of the streams can be attributed to bots?
I’d love to know why Kim kept quiet about Kanye cheating on her? This family loves to bash people (ex-husbands, ex-boyfriends, and ex-bestfriends). Hmmm interesting to say the least. Also, Kim doesn’t deserve any credit for Kanye’s album going number one. She did nothing but show up and try to suck up all the attention. The album was going to do well regardless because there are a lot of Kanye stans out there. He can’t get cancelled no matter what the f*cker says or does. It’s insane.
I think people are listening to the album because it’s good. It’s very raw and the way the grief over his mom is juxtaposed with grief over his failed marriage and falling on his faith is, at the very least, ambitious.
“Jesus Lord” and “Come to Life” are awesome.
Not a Ye fan, but I checked the album out of curiosity after reading this article, and wow some of those songs are really good. Mesmerized by “Off the Grid”. Kanye may be super weird but to me he’s a fantastic artist, always pushing himself. Every time I happen to listen to something of his, I’m always like ‘huh, that slaps’.
