I enjoyed Adele’s One Night Only but it wasn’t like she was spilling any tea or breaking news. She already said most of that to Vogue! [Just Jared]

Wheel of Time is a GREAT fantasy book series – I really hope Amazon hasn’t butchered it 🙁
I’ve been with it since the beginning. I hope it doesn’t suck.
I trust Rafe. With baited breath.
Even if Oprah was the first interview, Adele isn’t tabloid fodder. There isn’t anything scandalous in her life. Even with her early interviews it wasn’t exactly Earth shattering.
The cakes look like crap. Not figuratively but literally.
Yes…I had another 4 letter word that describes what those cakes look like but “crap” is a word that’s alot cleaner.
Loved the ADELE special…Oprah pulled those questions out of the mothballs. Nothing new and glad to see Adele so happy and dang even Gordon Ramsay looked happy!
I loved the songs from last night and the performance overall – using the observatory was brilliant, such a gorgeous setting and it worked with her jupiter earrings and tattoos, and her dress was fabulous – there was an old school feel to the whole thing that I really loved.
the interview itself though was meh – it was fine, but I think they could have scrapped the whole thing and just had Adele sing for two hours. She’s funny and engaging and Oprah is obviously Oprah, but there was nothing especially new or interesting discussed.
I loved the performance part, also. I am always amazed that Adele is only 30 because it feels like she has been around for a while. I had to google her to learn she became famous in the UK at a very young age. She has a timeless vibe
She’s actually 33.
Agree 100% Becks. I enjoy listening to Adele’s interviews because she is authentic and funny, but this all was a rehash of what’s been out lately, nothing really new.
As for the concert, yeah…two hrs. of Adele singing at the Observatory would’ve been AMAAAAAAAAAZING! It’s a favorite place of mine to go to, esp towards the end of the day. The director of photography for this special deserves kudos; such beautiful shots of a beautiful place.
I watched “Passing” over the weekend and was absolutely gutted by it. I hadn’t read any reviews. Netflix asked if I wanted to watch it and I said “sure.” And then I watched it again the next morning because it deserves multiple viewings to grasp all the nuances. The dialogue is lyrical and multi-layered. The theatrical style of the scenes is compelling, and I really wonder if each scene was done in one take for continuity, like a stage play on screen. And that’s before we even get into discussing the complexity of the subject matter. My cynical side says it’s well on its way to not getting the recognition it deserves.
Me too! I liked it but found it so so looong. And after about 1/3 I went off to make dinner and when I came back I saw the 3/3 loved it… the thing about it, is that it’s just a normal film but then …you can’t stop thinking about it. I wouldn’t be the target market for a drama – I’ve a short attention span (and movies are too long) but I’m so glad I watched it.
Passing is a haunting film. It has stayed with me and given me a lot to think about. The cinematography is gorgeous; the acting is superb. Rebecca Hall did an amazing job in her directorial debut.
The book is good. Only 100 pages and was written in the 1920s. I haven’t watched it yet so I hoped it’s faithful to the book
Another recommendation for the book, one of my most memorable reads of recent years. I enjoyed a lot about the film — the excellent performances, the cinematography etc– but the book resonated with me more.
Here is the meaning behind her Saturn tattoo and earrings – pretty cool!
Saturn returns happen roughly every 27 to 29 years, and are the moment when Saturn returns to the position it was in when you were born. The return of Saturn to that spot is meant to signify a change in your life as young people age into adulthood and are forced to fully take control of the direction that their lives are going in.
That’s actually very interesting ! Thanks !
I just love that she’s into astrology. Riding the zeitgeist!
I am sure there is some crappy and/or nefarious reason behind it, but the news about the Trump Hotel in DC is exciting. It is such a beautiful and historically important building, and I for one am thrilled it will no longer have the Trump name on it!
It is a beautiful and historic building, and I was disgusted when that name was attached to it. Glad it’s changing.
They’re going to have to overhaul it to get rid of that cheap Ivanka style.
I always felt bad for the Old Post Office Pavilion. I used to go there to get some really great Indian food take out.
They’ll have to salt the ground.
Every time I look at Adele now, all I see is a cross between Kate Winslet and Brooke Shields. Anyone else?
I gotta say the special last night was filmed beautifully. Honestly though, it wasn’t one of Oprah’s best interviews though. I do appreciate Oprah letting us see her insane garden and tea house. My god. Imaging living like that !
Yes! Kate Winslet and Brooke Shields exactly.
I can’t unsee it now. I think they all are lovely women. Enjoyed her singing. Teared up at the proposal story. Those two were so cute. Melissa McCarthy gave her a tissue. Appreciated Adele’s comments about weight. Beautiful venues for the concert & interview.
How does Kris Jenner keep getting invited to everything? Adele had an exclusive list of invitees yet KJ made the cut? How?!?!
Kris Jenner is a powerful motherf–ker. She is a billionaire a few times over (if you count the fact that she made Kylie her billion and controls all of it, for instance). She built a television, social media, cosmetics, clothing/underwear, modeling empire from nothing. I have a feeling Kris Jenner gets to go to anything she wants to go to.
The trump hotel is in one of the city’s most beautiful buildings, in my opinion. And say what you will about trump as president – the hotel is immaculate and trumps name was perhaps the reason for such a strong retail component. Well, in addition to the location and again, the beauty of the building itself.
Lol, no.
