What’s everyone doing? MerlinsDad and I are staying home (we’re both too old to go partying and lord knows it ain’t safe even in a GOOD year), and I never stay up to see the New Year in anyway.
I’ll be in with a good movie and a nice glass of wine, in front of the fireplace, with my holiday lights still twinkling. Even in the best of years, I never liked being out on the roads when everyone’s been drinking.
Around 9, I’ll switch and watch the ball drop on CNN, and probably be in bed by 10 lol (I’m feeling like I should follow this declaration with a “Get off my lawn!” meme 😄).

Everything’s been cancelled here, but I don’t go out on New Year’s, anyway. That’s when everyone from the suburbs decides to come into town, all at once. For me, it’s jammies, an array of snacks and Korean street food videos.
Cooked myself a nice steak dinner, bought a moderately priced bottle of prosecco, and am now watching a movie. Wouldn’t have it any other way, Covid or no.

@MerlinsMom1018, we stayed in as usual for the last ten years. Made New Orleans BBQ Shrimp with Grits & grilled NY Strips (in the cold outdoors), which we ate while watching The Great Outdoors followed by Summer Rental. Fell asleep, and as often as it happens, wished & kissed each other a Happy New Year when we woke up to go to the bathroom around 3am.
We’re are very exciting people.lol Though, in response to Prince Charles’ ‘whatever in love means’ comment, in our house it might mean kissing each other goodnight again after getting up in the wee hours to pee.

2021 just had to get in a final screw you. I was so excited that Hallmark is finally going to be showing the Golden Girls every day again, now that their non-stop Christmas movies are finished, but I just don’t know if I can make it. Especially the episode where Rose goes “what happens when there’s only 1 of us left?” And Sophia goes “dont worry i can take care of myself” 😭
My son just walked down to tell me. I was arguing with him for a few minutes because I kept saying “No-she’s turning 100-it’s been all over the news!” 🙁

2021 just had to get that last jab in didn’t it? I was scared when ABC broke into a soap with a special report and the anchor looks so somber before he started speaking. My first thought was that there was a terrorist attack in the US. I would have never dreamed that it was about our sweet Betty.

Once again, Happy New Year to the CB fam. So glad to be here with all of you to share our experiences, such as today in our collective sadness about Betty White.
I watched Spencer for the first time last night, and I’ll say I’m incredibly impressed with the film and Kristen Stewart. In the wide angle shots it’s a bit ridiculous that she’s built nothing like Diana. In heels she’s barely taller than the 10 year old actor who plays William. But she impressively captures the mood, and the film is artful in displaying Diana as a complicated person while maintaining compassion and sympathy for her.
I’ve been watching a ton of movies this week so okay I’ll give Spencer a try. (I loved Nicole Kidman in Being the Ricardos).
