Squid Game’s Jung Ho-yeon won outstanding performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series last night at the SAG Awards. I loved her spaghetti strap black Louis Vuitton gown with silver embellishments. It’s so elegant and perfect for her big moment. She had a matching hair piece made with her gown which was a nod to Korean tradition. (Update: it’s called a daenggi.) Her acceptance speech was so heartfelt and moving. She was moved to tears and said she grew up watching the people there on the big screen and that she dreamed of becoming an actor. She also thanked everyone for making her dream come true and opening the door for her. Ho-yeon started out as a model and this was her first acting role!
Squid Game didn’t win for Cast in a Drama Series, that went to Succession, but Lee Jung-Jae won for Male Actor in a Drama Series. He is such a beautiful man that it must have been hard to make him look schlubby on that show. I loved that Squid Game got so much recognition and am looking forward to season two!
I don’t have an ID on Kim Joo-Ryung’s beautiful strapless tricolor gown, but I love it. (Update: LadyAlbert commented that it’s Zimmerman!)
Also in Louis Vuitton was Cynthia Erivo, who was nominated for Genius: Aretha. That category, Female Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries, went to Kate Winslet for Mare of Easttown. I adored this red strapless pvc gown, which fit her like a glove. I wasn’t as fond of the jacket, but she told Laverne Cox on the red carpet that it was a modern nod to one of Aretha’s iconic looks, a 60s photo with her with an updo and a red dress with feathers on the wrist. Laverne knew the dress she was referring to. I found that! It’s from 1969. I like how she showed off her nails.

I’m sure Kim Joo-Ryung’s gown is Zimmerman. I’ve seen it on Net-a-Porter.
Ooh thank you I will update!
She looks wonderful!
Stunning, elegant, and near perfection. I say near perfection because compared to the other dresses and ensembles, this one appears a little too conservative and safe for my taste? Would have love to have seen her be a bit more flashy. She’s a beautiful woman with striking features and can pull off any color and design.
I think she looks gorgeous, the gown is a gorgeous fit. The cut is pretty simple but the design looks more intricate.
Same. It’s a very simple cut but all the embroidery and design keep it from being boring. Love it.
she lost way too much weight
I don’t think she’s lost any weight. She was already incredibly thin.
That seems to be the norm, sadly.
I came across some interviews and variety shows where every other comment is about vanity or weight. They think weighing 120lbs is too much.
She did actually. she spoke about how she trying to gain back her weight and she lost weight due to crazy scheduling and stress.
That gown was exquisite. It was so simple, but gorgeous!
This dresss was so restrained and elegant. Love the Korean aesthetic and point of view of the entire look. I understand many wanted a flashier outfit but to me, having the opportunity to showcase and marry traditional korean fashion with a modern twist on a world wide scale is amazing to me. Well done!!
Yes, she looked beautiful! I loved the high neckline and how her hair was styled. Just a really beautiful, classic look.
Jung Ho-yeon’s gown is beautiful!
another best of the night for me!
Completely undeserved win. SAGgiving in to the Squid Game hype. Sarah Snook was miiiiiiiles better.
