Kaley Cuoco and Zosia Mamet explain their matching ‘boop’ tattoos

The second season of The Flight Attendant finished last week. I found the story a bit less compelling this time around, but it continued to be bonkers in a good way, I liked the pacing and, as always, the acting was really good. Kaley Cuoco and Zosia Mamet convincingly play best friends on the show and they’ve become besties in real life too. Zosia lived with Kaley during filming, helping her through her second divorce, and they have matching tattoos on their inner arms now too. “Boop” because they tap each other on the nose and say “boop.”

Kaley Cuoco and Zosia Mamet are best friends onscreen, offscreen, and on their arms.

The stars of HBO Max’s The Flight Attendant shared the sweet story of how their first meeting inspired their new matching friendship tattoos with E! News’ Daily Pop.

The besties connected immediately upon meeting at a chemistry read for The Flight Attendant. Kaley felt so comfortable around her potential new co-star that she gave Zosia a little “boop” tap on the nose.

“It became a thing, and then we did it all the time,” Kaley told Daily Pop’s Francesca Amiker. The two got the word “boop” tattooed on their arms in April 2022.

Their little act of endearment seems to be catching on with others, as Kaley joked, “Now people are booping each other. I think we’re causing a major stir.”

“You know how ‘Fetch’ didn’t happen?” Zosia added, referencing the hilarious quote from the movie Mean Girls, “‘Boop’ is happening.”

The BFFs always know how to have a good laugh, but they also know how to comfort each other. Having filed for divorce from her husband of three years, Karl Cook, in September 2021, Kaley told Daily Pop how Zosia helped her through tough times on set.

“We lived together towards the end of season two, and there were days when I didn’t think I could even go to work,” said Kaley. “On [Zosia’s] days off, she would come to work and have lunch with me in my trailer. And I was like, ‘It’s your day off.’ She’s like, ‘No, no, I’m coming.’ Those little things are a big deal.”

This is a cute story, that they just boop each other’s noses. It’s even written into the show! Or the show wrote it into their lives, unclear. Though, they’re clearly being tongue-in-cheek in their comments because nose boops have been happening forever. But, anyone who drops a Mean Girls quote into conversation is good by me. That’s how you know they’re legit friends and not fake costar friends — the casual face touches. Not that all costars have to be friends, but it’s nice that Kaley and Zosia are and you can really feel it in the show. Their characters’ friendship backstory is never really explained, but it does feel very lived in and makes sense, probably because they’re such good friends offscreen as well. It’s unclear whether Flight Attendant will get a third season and the finale is very open-ended, but I’d like to see more of their characters’ escapades.

I love this best friend relationship. It would be great to see more profiles of women who are best friends. It’s powerful.

But there’s a difference between best friends and work besties. If they remain best friends years after FA is cancelled I’ll believe it.

I think it’s comparable to costars dating. A connection (of a different kind) is made and helped along by close proximity, built in time together and not with others and a mutual goal of the show.

    This is super-cute.

They’re doing the Alexis Rose boop from Schitt’s Creek, so cute, I love it! I do not love the Flight Attendant.

  4. Tempest says:

I didn’t think I would enjoy The Flight Attendant so I avoided it. Recently, on a gloomy rainy day, I was so bored I gave the show a chance. I found it engaging and kept on watching the next episode until I finished the whole first season.

The first season was better IMO but 2 was still an entertaining watch. I didn’t know they were such close friends in real life, that’s nice.

  6. Dizza says:

Kaley doesn’t get enough credit for a being a pretty well adjusted child star. I respect that she works consistently and keeps relatively low profile. I also love that she still attends charity events related to John Ritter

I wasn’t following The Flight Attendant that closely, but the finale was so good! And yes, there is a boop in it, haha.

No season 3. Which is fine as all story lines seemed wrapped up. I am happy for her.

Aw, me too! I was really impressed with what I saw of this season. I liked the way that they used multiple screens and tied everything together through editing. The scenes with her in the house and elevator were so good. Loved her moment with Sharon Stone, too. I’ll have to go back and watch it properly.
