Jennifer Aniston’s rep denies she’s hosting a talk show for Oprah’s network

The spirit of creative journalism is still alive and well in the British tabloids. Yesterday London’s Express newspaper reported that Jennifer Aniston was going to host her own weekly talk show on Oprah’s new network. Why in the world would a reasonably successful film actress do something like that? Well because she absolutely wants to, was the creative natural response. I mean who wouldn’t want to take their career down several notches? Oh, and money wasn’t a factor, since she doesn’t need it.

Aniston has agreed to do a weekly show for Oprah’s new cable channel, OWN, when it finally launches sometime next year, according to a report over the weekend. While the idea of the former “Friends” star putting her career on hold to host a weekly cable show seems improbable at first glance, the report in London’s Express newspaper says that Aniston is taken with the idea of starring on her own talk show.

Salary would not be a factor for the actress, who earns $5-7 million a movie, says the report. “She is doing this for one reason only; she absolutely wants to do it,” the paper quotes a source “close to the deal.” It seems that Aniston, 40, wants to duplicate what she saw last month as a guest on the Chelsea Handler show, “Chelsea Lately,” on the E! channel.

One small glitch in the plan: it’s all bogus. I’ll wait while you pick your collective jaws off the floor. I cannot believe Jennifer Aniston would pass up such a lucrative embarrassing offer. How shortsighted. [Please note the heavy sarcasm].

Jennifer Aniston is not returning to TV, her rep tellsUsmagazine.com.

Reports claiming the star, 40, agreed to host a weekly talk show for Oprah Winfrey’s new cable channel are “absolutely false,” her rep tells Us.

A spokesperson for OWN, the Oprah Winfrey Network, also denied the report.

“OWN is not in discussions with Jennifer Aniston to host a weekly talk show,” the spokesperson tells Us.

Considering all reps do is issue denials (must be the cushiest job ever; you’re paid exorbitant fees to say “no”), I don’t normally put a lot of stock into anything they say. But since this was an entirely unbelievable – and slightly embarrassing – story from the get-go, I’m going to go with Jen’s rep. As much as I’m sure she aspires to be the next Bonnie Hunt, her dreams will have to wait.

I don’t think it’s unrealistic to think JA would want to do a talk show – don’t we all just do our jobs because we absolutely want to do them?

  2. Snurby says:

She was cute on Chelsea Lately, but I can’t picture her as a TV host. Glad she’s sticking to rom-coms.

  3. katish says:

I don’t think I would watch it, anyways. She doesn’t come off as that interesting to me.

  4. Charity is Chic says:

Katish. she’s interesting enough that you took the time to comment.LOL.

Bad ideal. Talk shows are struggling right now. I thought Jimmy Fallon show would do OK but it’s struggling. I heard Oprah ratings were dropping.

  6. I think that it is a good idea that JA sticks with movies. I don’t think she would be great at hosting. So i am glad that this whole thing was wrong.

I clicked because the idea was lucidrous and I wanted to see which idiot publication dreamt it up.

As far as I’m concerned, The Express is as much of a joke of a paper as the Daily Mail – they still run front page, mind you, articles and conspiracy theories on the death of Princess Diana. 12 years later. They do this on a monthly, if not a weekly basis when they can get away with it. Their economics section, whilst a bit doom and gloomy is meant to be all right (who knows), but the Princess Di nonsense makes me avoid it like the plague.

she’s gorgeous and everything she does is successful

  9. justathought says:

pumak?! take those rose colored glasses off and get your head out of the clouds…..JA’s love life has never been a success!

  10. Firestarter says:

Maybe not a success according to you, however, I think that any woman who is happily dating and doing as she pleases into her forties without having to be saddled with a man for happiness is successful and secure in her romantic life. Marriage, for the record, does not equal success.

  11. stacy says:

@ just a thought- Why does a woman have to be married with children to have a successful love life?

She has only dated, what, 5 men in 5-6 years? oooooohhhh, what a slut! *rolling my eyes* I think she is great, but i agree, no talk shows please!
