When I last wrote about Ne-Yo’s nasty split from Crystal Renay, I wasn’t totally aware of his (or their) sordid past. Last month, Crystal posted a detailed Instagram alleging that Ne-Yo was cheating on her for eight years with “numerous women who sell their bodies to him unprotected.” Ne-Yo posted a canned publicist statement in response, quotes and all. I was shocked Ne-Yo’s giant egghead had behaved so badly, but apparently it’s part of a pattern of him mistreating women. He and his previous partner, Monyetta Shaw, had two children together and decided they would both undergo sterilization procedures. She did, he didn’t, then he dumped her and went on to have three kids with Crystal. (And maybe there was overlap).
And maybe Ne-Yo isn’t even done having kids because Crystal alleged in her divorce papers that he fathered a child with one of his cheating partners. She also spoke to TMZ and said they are never, ever, getting back together and a bunch of stuff is up to God.
It appears that Crystal Renay has made up her mind about her decision to divorce NE-YO.
In a video published by TMZ on Friday, Renay, 36, can be heard speaking out for the first time after filing for divorce from the “So Sick” singer earlier this month.
When asked if there was any chance for her and NE-YO, 42, to work out their marriage, Renay replied, “There are no chances, God is good. We are moving on to better lives.”
During the chat about the split, she added, “Certain things can’t be forgiven, but God will forgive, and one day so will I. The Christian me has to one day, but I am okay.”
As for whether or not she would be dating again, Renay told the outlet, “I mean, only God knows.”
Shortly after publicly accusing the R&B singer of cheating, Renay filed divorce documents obtained by PEOPLE in Atlanta earlier this month, claiming the pair’s marriage is “irretrievably broken with no hope for reconciliation” following NE-YO’s alleged infidelity.
Renay has been married to NE-YO since February 2016, and the pair shares three children: 14-month-old daughter Isabella Rose, as well as sons Roman Alexander-Raj, 4, and Shaffer Chimere Jr., 6.
According to the divorce documents, Renay alleged that NE-YO — whom she claims to have been separated from since July 22 — recently fathered a child with another woman.
The Grammy-winner’s wife also said she’s been taking care of their three children since the separation, and she’s seeking primary physical custody and joint legal custody, as well as child support and alimony.
I wonder if Crystal is surprised at Ne-Yo’s behavior after how their relationship started and how he treated Monyetta. I guess people always want to believe they’re the one that’s different. And I’m sure that Ne-Yo found a way to spin Monyetta’s story to paint himself as innocent and Crystal was probably happy to believe him. Whether or not she could have predicted the outcome, I imagine that finding out what Ne-Yo had done was still shocking or devastating to Crystal. I feel less sympathy for her now that I know the background of their relationship. What goes around, comes around, but it doesn’t seem like it’s come around yet to the person who deserves it most: Ne-Yo. It’ll be interesting to see if Ne-Yo’s reputation takes a big hit for this. It didn’t seem to after Monyetta and while he’s bad, there are far worse men in the music industry who still have careers, so he may, unfortunately, skate by.

The whole sterilization incident is one of the most horrendous things I’ve ever heard of outside of DV. Jesus. How can you have a relationship and CHILDREN with someone who does that to a partner? They can both enjoy the consequences of their actions and choices.
She thought she was special. When in actuality karma was just waiting it’s turn.
This is is why I cant stand Ne-Yo. What he did to his ex-wife is unconscionable. And he did it to have power over her. HE can move on and start a new gamily of he wants to. She cannot do the same. He’s a horrible human being.
When the mistress becomes the wife, she leaves a job opening.
I feel bad for the children only. Crystal can kick rocks.
Are we supposed to feel sorry for crystal she had no problem being the side piece while Ne yo was in a Relationship with monyetta . What Ne-yo did to Monyetta is absolutely evil and disgusting shameful. Crystal is not a victim I don’t have not one ounce of pity for her it’s called karma she truly thought that she special .
Women need to stop thinking they are special . If a man tells you your differences from all the other women he has dated run it a major red flag 🚩. If he treats all the women in his past relationship like crap he will do the same to you.
